This really is the best version ever made of this song. I am a number one fan of Floor, but in this song Tarja & Marko are unbeatable couple. Thank you for doing this!

The point about the singers is that Tarja is INSTANTLY recognisable ... and "different". Anette was "just another rock singer" and Floor isnt at the level of recognition of Tarja.

One of the best duets ever and the best live of this. They act the roles of Phantom and Christine also so well. Marco is so awesome as Phantom and together with Tarja they mix the act together.

That being said, well... I'm a huge long-time fan of NW (as you know their music is so heavenly, epic, absolutely MAGICAL), and especially of Tarja, although I do love all three singers who sang with them, they're equally amazing, great artists, just in different ways and styles, and we should never forget, regardless of personal tastes, that each one of them brought many different, special and irreplaceable elements to NW that made them grow as a band and develop their artistic identity. Like you said they're unique individuals, and we should appreciate them indiviadually, celebrate the differences that make them so unique, and be grateful for the blessed Art that they beautifully share with the world!😍 To me though, due only to my personal preferences, Tarja with her operatic, expressive, strong, dark, powerful yet heavenly and pure voice, and the deep magic emotions she's capable of delivering through her renditions, just happen to be the one who have always given me more goosebumps all over my body, bringing tears to my eyes with every breath and touching the depths of my soul ❤! I feel like she put an everlasting spell on me since I first listened to her, when I was like 13 or 14! lol Haha. Besides, her music, voice and work saved my life, especially when several years ago I started studying classical music because of her ('twas thanks to her that I came to know classical music and fell in love with opera), and this literally saved my life, so.... Yeah, she has a very special place in my heart and life!💖
Oh my, sorry for my little outburst about Tarja😆, I couldn't help it haha. Anyway, by what I've seen in your channel you do a lot of reactions to NW with all singers (which is great! Keep it up! We Nightwish addicts love to see the NW lore spreading all around hahaha). So I'm wondering if you'd be willing to react to Tarja's solo work too, since I'm also a Tarja addict😆hahaha. I followed her solo career far more closely and can assure she's been doing a stunning, beautiful solo work too. I'm sure you'd be thrilled. (Side note: her solo musical style is not easily defined; of course it still has plenty of the symphonic metal elements as main references such as some kinds of guitar riffs, epic orchestral arrangements and her remarkable operatic vocals, but she incorporates aspects of many other styles and it's quite different from what we used to hear from NW, but just as magnificent!! I love the fact that she just walked her own path and found her "artist self", never trying to copy or recreate her old days with NW, and I absolutely LOVE the results of her choices, I hope you like it too. Also she has much more freedom now to compose and write her own songs, play piano, sing however she likes, and just fully liberate her truest artist soul.)

Here she sings while playing a grand piano, showing some dramatic nuances of her expression and voice, kind of "gothic vibes". She delivers such a touching, emotional and beautiful performance! It makes me shiver and cry every time! I've never seen anyone react to this performance, but imo more people should do it, it's a "forgotten" treasure!

- Since Tarja is a classically trained lyrical singer who often performs in classical concerts, some of her classical performances would be awesome too, if you have time for it, of course haha, AND if you're into some classical music stuff as well (I love it, I'm a metalhead AND a classical musician, so.......😆). I promise it's worth it though, she's really amazing!

Here she shows some super high notes of her soprano vocal range and quite an agility that is really impressive, for her voice has a little more dramatic, heavier and darker timbre, and this in lyrical music world generally means, in short, that the singer (man or woman) won't have so much agility due to some physiological features.

And "The Phantom of the Opera" has been huge thing in my life since first saw it and heart it as kid, and it's one of the reasons I wear masks on my videos, sister!

This was a treat! I love Floor and Henk version but this has energy that is unbeatable. Notice the homage that Tuomas gives tuo Tarja before she starts her climbing together with Marco's "All rise" in the end.
I really love that too! I love that in Nightwish generally. They give each other credits often during a concert.
My favorite fact about Tarja & Floor is that they are actually good friends & have been since before Floor took over as female lead singer of Nightwish. There is even a video of them singing together at one of Tarja's concerts.

I've been watching a lot of American reactions to Nightwish lately. I chose to watch those who really liked the work of this great band and were interested not only in Floor but also in Anette and Tarja. And I made an amazing discovery. Almost everyone who makes reactions to this band got acquainted with it 2-3 years ago. Now I was wondering how a band that was blowing up the music charts in Europe in the early 2000's and collected stadiums, was practically unknown in the USA?
Maybe I am totally wrong on this but I have a feeling that many American people only listen to artists of their own country, because indeed, if you see how many Americans react in total awe when they hear them the first time, it has to be something like that.
I have seen this video multiple time! It's one of my favorites!! BUT this is the first time I have had a visceral reaction to it. I filled a couple of tissues wiping tear until I finally gave up and just let it come. Because of the emotions YOU clearly feel it causes your fans/followers to have the same emotions! I'm a new subscriber and will definitely watch more!! I think you are very real.

If you really like tarja and Nightwish you should see all this beautiful live called "End of an Era" from 2006. This was the last show of Tarja with the band ant it's all so beautiful and moving.
I totally agree with you Jen. I had the same reaction to this video as you did and to the circumstances surrounding Marco's departure. I'm hopefully going to be at the NYC show in October as well. As a musician myself, I can't believe the emotions that this band brings out in me.

Nightwish was a greek tragedy those days. In the very high of the band history they separated badly. After create this hugh master piece that was End of an Era, it was over. But Tarja said just a few months ago that even the painfull breakdown she is proud of the music they did together. A bittersweet end? We'll see.

There is only two bands in existence that leave such a huge mark on me everytime I hear them, and that is Nightwish, and Iron Maiden. Both bands are masters at performance and master musicians.
I highly recommend that you also check out Iron Maiden, Just Jen. They have the same magic Nigtwish does, and both bands have had members expressing that they are fans of the other.
Regarding this reaction. Tarja is amazing. She have always had a special place in my heart. And her and Marco play so well of each other. :)

I feel you, I am seeing Nightwish at the Virtual Concert, then on Nov 18th Birmingham (UK), then Wembley on the 13th December.... Im super excited, like you wouldn't believe... but at the same time I have a knot in my stomach, an emptiness inside, going to be difficult not having Marko there. My heart goes out to him, he has much love from us all. I wish him the very very best in this world.

I love Taija I love Annette and I love Floor. Each brought their own special essences to the band.I have seen Night wish 3 times. Unfortunately I never got to see Taija. I am very saddened that Marco is no longer with the band. The saddest thing of all is they are almost completely unknown on the US. We need to build the Nightwish Army here in the US.

The whole Wishes to Eternity concert is also on DVD, and you just picked the wrong clip of DBP, there are complete versions out there.
Yeah, Tarja could kill the high notes too, she just rarely did it. This song is about the only time she let loose like that with Nightwish, and only on the live version. The studio version is very different on that ending part.

Hello Jen. Please check Nightwish: "High Hopes" and "Kiss while your lips are still red" (live @ Wembley).
And to think that right after this show, immediately after walking off the stage, the Letter was given. But as you can see with this, the entire Wishes to Eternity DVD, and others, what was lost with Nightwish due to the strife between Tuomas, Tarja, and Marcelo, which is what became the basis for The Poet and the Pendulum, Bye Bye Beautiful, and Master Passion Greed (basically, the entire Dark Passion Play album).
Speaking of that album, your next reaction needs to be to The Islander, which came off that album. I'd highly suggest reacting to the live version, at Tampere. You'd love that. Additionally, what I would suggest reacting to are a few shows from this season's Masked Singer: Finland, especially the clips involving the character "Tohtori". I think you'll get a really good kick out of those. I can't listen to Elton John's Yellow Brick Road anymore without picturing that performance, and who sang and played that character.

And that's because you RESPECT the band.You are not one of those freaks who trash one singer in order to praise their favourite.Also I'm from Finland and I discovered Nightwish at the end of 2019 because of Tarja and Nemo.I always knew the band existed but never followed them that closely.Well... that has changed since.This piece is a MASTERPIECE like this whole concert is.But it's bittersweet for sure.Don't believe any BS you hear about Tarja.Nobody knows her, some just like to blame her.For sure, firing her was a shitstorm all around and Nightwish fucked it up royally,Anyway...that is a long time ago.
This version of the song can't be compared to Beste Zanger's version.Why?It's like comparing a karaoke band to superior power metal band.Nothing to do with singers, it's the band.I'm a hardcore NW fan so nobody does it better.Simple. Also Tarja and Floor like each other.Imagine Tarja and Floor taking turns on stage, performing all the epic Nightwish songs with Nightwish.That is my imagination where shitstorm never happened...My only regret is that I didn't listen to this band earlier but I have quickly catched up.
We have learned that one member doesn't make the band, except for Tuomas, because he is the maker of the band. And as long as he keeps this Vehicle of Spirit moving, I'll follow and I have all the faith in the world that they are capable of finding a good replacement for Marko.Marko leaving was painful and it is a good lesson to learn: Never invest to a one person in A BAND.It is unrealistic to think that the band will never change.People have individual needs.As long as Tuomas decides to write for Nightwish, the band will survive.My journey with Nightwish has just started and I hope it's for next 20+ years.
Also: I recommend from this show "End of an era": Nemo,Sleeping sun, Slaying the dreamer, Ever Dream.These are what I can think of at the top of my head.Watch them and then feel sorry for yourself that you weren't there.Like me.😣

They are skilled session players. But there are a lot of comparisons in the reaction videos between NW's version and that one, which I don't get. Put Nightwish besides any band and I know Nightwish will be superior. I'm biased in that way. But even I know that they play in different type of format, different type of music.So no need to tell me to not compare, tell all those that compare Floor and Tarja or Henk and Marko. Apparently, even Andrew Lloyd Webber said this version is simply epic.
I mean we can talk about the various singers that have performed this and whom one prefers (personally I think Marco is the best Phantom, but I prefer Sierra Boggess as Christine), but that's all very subjective.
The arrangement Nightwish did though is absolutely positively the best this song has ever had. It always bothered me how soft and kinda corny the original arrangement is. Nightwish just elevated the song to where it should've been all along.

No apologies for me. This was THE lineup. Marko, Tarja, the drummer....forgot how to spell his name..for me, this was the ultimate. The rest are mad talents but its not the same. Now Nightwish is like Zeppelin without Plant and Page. A no go.

Now that Marko, Tarja, and Jukka have left the band, I refuse to listen to or even acknowledge they exist now, Nightwish in my opinion is useless now.
My attentions now have swung towards Within Temptation.
