"Scream weep" would be a very accurate way to describe that last scream. This is a very heavy song for the band because it honors their drummer who had passed away.
Everything about the song you can feel their emotion, their expressions in the video, Matt's singing, even Syns guitar solos just ooze the emotion of the song.

Live at the LBC has him at his very best. I must recommend the song Critical Acclaim, it show cases his heavier screams very well.

As a hardcore A7X fan, just want to suggest: God Hates Us - Rock am RIng 2011, shows Matt's screams. Roman Sky - Live at the Grammy Museum, shows Matt's clean singing very well.
These right here! I really hope Anna decides to check these out because they're probably some of the best showcases of what he's really capable of in both extremes of his vocal range.

Definitely listen to their live stuff from the "Live in the LBC" DVD to see how they're (somehow) even better live. The performances of "Afterlife" and "Beast and The Harlot" are especially great but the whole show is fantastic. There are several great voices in the band. Moi moi Anna, the lyrics of this song touches immediately from the start after listening to it the first time. In combination with the increasing intreging vocals it deepens your soul more and more during the 10 years existance of this song. Especially the unwanted, and in my case also recently unexpected, loss of beloved ones in those years makes this song very special. So far away.

Great reaction Anna. I didn't know what to expect since this was described as a metal band, but I enjoyed the song and comments. I always find it interesting when a singer/band known for one genre switches things up and presents something different.
As you mentioned the drummer... Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it is none other than ex-Dream Theater Mike Portnoy. He was a guest musician on the album, as the original drummer sadly passed away. I'm sure that the latter had still written some parts of the album, but it is Mike who's playing here
You are correct. Portnoy was the Rev's favorite drummer & left Dream Theater to honor him.
I would check out “Nightmare” by these guys if you want to see a little more of what he has in him

I would definitely like more of m.shadows. Some of the many songs that would showcase his vocals would be “acid rain”, “tonight the world dies” and “crimson day”. Also he is amazing at his live performances too so you can also check out any song from their live at the LBC or their live at Grammy museum which is an acoustic type of live where he also sings the song you just reacted !

When i heard your Wiki account of these guys and heard the first part i was expecting a Jinjer type jump...but it stayed with a more traditional ballad build... Very American... I hear bits of Kansas and Chicago ..but it was a good performance in its own right.

@@annavaskelainen yeah happy tears but song gets me all the time I stay away in Jersey channel isles and my family live in Scotland , lost my mum and couldn't travel back for funeral due to covid flying rules at the time, but song helped me through.

Do reaction to "She's Gone" by Steelheart, a glam rock band from late 80's and early 90's. There some incredible singing right there.

I think what got me hooked were the long plosives that contrast all the time with long vowels, creating the most striking of contrasts. Especially kk has considerable power to my ears.
Another thing is the relative scarcity of sibilants - Finnish has only /s/, so there’s much less hissing going on than in other languages.
And, of course, the R. The lovely, trilled R, one of my favourite phonemes. Finnish doesn’t even bother with a mere tap, they always go for the trill, and if it’s geminate, even better. I was quite disappointed when I found out that addressing people with herra and rouva doesn’t go down too well any more.
The intonation, on the other hand, isn’t something Finnish has going for it. It’s quite flat and machine-like to my ears. In this area, it loses to Swedish, whose pitch accent is just so cool. ja aina Ruatti voittaa... 😅

And well as an American, I love your language and how you sound, in your native language and when you speak English…so I think it goes both ways in general. I’d rather listen to you than some twangy voice, in general. Both are/can be good at times, but you sound better. And only watched this cause it’s you, heard the song, it isn’t bad by a stretch, nor are they, but they’ve changed so much, they aren’t what I loved anymore and have been for a long time, like 14 years or so, for the few things they’ve done in that time frame, old Avenged is way better, faster, heavier, more technical in all ways, better lyrics and vocals, playing. Just better, like ‘Bat Country’ ‘The beast and the harlot’ etc, or really any of their music from right around that time from them, before too of course.
