The band formed in 1999 and this song was released in 2010. Jimmy passed away on December 28th, 2009 during the demo process of the album Nightmare. The song was originally written for Synyster Gates' grandfather who had recently passed away, and his father Brian Haner Sr. recorded the acoustic parts in tribute. After The Rev passed, it became the band's goodbye to him. The video of Jimmy splashing a drink on his face was a clip from the band's All Excess DVD. A segment called Hotel Drunks.

If this song wasn't sad enough, please react to a lyric video for the song Fiction. It was the last song The Rev ever recorded, on vocals and piano. They kept his demo parts, which he recorded on Christmas Day 3 days before he died. It's a really moving song.
This song literally saved my life.
All members of the band are actually childhood friends (although some met in high school in the late 90s). So when The Rev passed on, it wasn't just their drummer who passed away, it was one of their closest friends.

A fun fact about this video is that Synyster Gates's guitar usually has "SYN" on the fretboard. But during the solo you can see that it says "REV". Tribute to his best friend.... RIP The Rev.

@@Abireacts love seeing it mainly because I never took the chance to react to music I just continued to listen for years but seeing someone actually react to their first time hearing it is great because I already know the parts that will be impactful on the listener.
