This man is so adorable, hard not to smile while listening to him. I love this Mescal-era!
realest everrr
Absolutely, funny and self deprecating while just fabulous
You love this mascara? hahahaa
They should have cast this guy as Harry Potter
@@jinstinky501considering Paul would’ve been 3 or 4 when casting started for Harry Potter, I doubt that is feasible haha
I love me an Irish man and this one is the most adorable, physically and personality-wise. One hell of an actor too. See Aftersun.
😁
He's wonderful 💯
That's funny, because: "Can we go up to your room? Into your underwear, please" is exactly what I was planning on saying to Paul.
LOL
😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣👍
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He has the best stylist and he is an incredible muse who isn't afraid to step out and experiment in his art form or in life.
I saw Gladiator II the other day and he more than holds his own in the role. He has big shoes to fill trying to keep the franchise going that Russell Crowe made his own and I think I was probably comparing him to Crowe in the first half of the movie but I did stop thinking about Crowe and focused on his performance by the second half or maybe earlier. I could see Ridley Scott making a third and Paul really shaking off the shadow of the first movie and this really making a name for himself. His accent is really good also - didn't hear his Irish accent come out once. Well worth watching.
The Irish have a charm thats unmatched!! 💚💚💚🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
💯
A great kid - the best of Ireland.
Fantastic actor and he comes off so humble and authentic in interviews… it’s very refreshing to watch him on and off screen.
He’s hum blistoc
As a Portuguese, I couldn’t help but notice that the flowers in his jacket reminded me of the carnation flowers from the Portuguese Carnation Revolution. And I think that’s beautiful. 🌹
💚
os cravos!!!!
I'm a sucker for an Irishman, but I didn't know who he was a few months ago. Now I'm all in. ❤
I love this young man, a true aquarius even he knows and friend knows, above all great acting and hids character perfectly portrayed a true aquaright, leader, fighter, intelligent genuine human being
STOP BRINGING STARSIGNS INTO IT🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I loved Paul Mescal in Normal People, Aftersun and All of Us Strangers. And I'm keen for Gladiator II. But I also want more people to see him with Saoirse Ronan in Foe - a sci-fi psychological thriller that deserves more recognition.
I wanted to see if all the PR had any validity, so I watched three of the four you mentioned. This guy is the real deal. The best I’ve seen sine the two Hoffmans.
@@buddys_dad Definitely one to watch. If he can stay grounded, and continues to make good choices, he'll be remembered as one of the greats of his generation.
@@buddys_dad I re-watched Foe and All of Us Strangers last night. No regrets! Aftersun is leaving Foxtel tomorrow - so I'm bracing myself for a final viewing.
@@kylieb-p2515You should definitely see Gladiator. His performance was amazing! This film will make him a movie star
Funny. I just watched Foe yesterday. I would recommend it, but not to everyone. The acting sells it, very deep study of the human experience.
We love paul mescal
His jacket is mesmerizing. ☺️
Mesmerizing? Or is it learning lines?
“Memorizing” 😂😂😂😂😂
It’s an Irish designer called Simone Rocha, she’s amazing
@celestine023 Just stunning work! Thank you for letting me know! 😊
Agreed. First observation for me.
He has some shtyle. More power to your fashion eye, Paul
He's so cute ❤❤❤❤❤
Gladiator II was the first acting role that I saw Paul in, and I was very impressed with his performance. Not only was his acting great, but he fought like a badass too. I just read that Pedro Pascal called him "Brick Wall Paul" because he got really fit. 😂 I'll watch Aftersun next, and will no doubt be blown away by this talented young man's versatility.
caution, that film will break you into pieces. 🥺
@@batmanmoscoso Indeed, but well worth a watch and a few re-watches...
After Aftersun, I would highly recommend watching him in the series Normal People and the films, Foe and All of Us Strangers. His was duly recognised for his roles in Normal People, Aftersun and All of Us Strangers. But I am also very fond of his portrayal of Junior (and AI Junior) in the beautifully haunting sci-fi psychological thriller Foe - in which he is well matched by his co-stars Saoirse Ronan and Aaron Pierre.
@@kylieb-p2515 Thank you for the recommendations, Kylie. 👍 I had heard of Normal People and All of Us Strangers, but not Foe. The other day, I had a random thought that I would like to see Paul in a sci-fi horror film, so Foe sounds promising. 😎
@@annalog002Paul is such a great actor. I’ve loved all of his films so far. Add God’s Creatures to the list.🩶
When you are supernice, talented and look like Michelangelo’s David.
And Irish 😊
Watched Gladiator 2 and I Love it❣️Paul Mescal - great actor!!
Not only is he mega talented, loves what he does, humble, handsome from head to toe. You can tell this man has a gorgeous soul. He’s emotionally intelligent. And the accent! Come. On. For me his only flaw is the smoking. Wish him all the best, grateful for this guy! His stylist has been killing it!!!
He is hilarious ❤
he's so charming. I didn't even realize I was smiling the whole 6 minutes until my face hurt
First of all, i had no idea who he is, but im kind of a fan now. He's so handsome and charming. Literally husband material... But i had to look up his age, because he looks like Uncle and Nephew at the same time. Lol... He's only 28....
Im 37 and i promise he looks as old as i am, if not older. 🤔😍
True, Paul Mescal comes across has having an old soul but while somehow also managing to exude boyish charm. It's hard to believe that only 5 years ago he was involved in filming his very convincing and compelling portrayal of an insecure senior high school student in the series Normal People.
he literally looks like he could have been the model for a roman statue
Can't wait for the Gladiator sequel. Hope it's good.
Gosh I love him!!
Paul mescal is the love of my life 💘
Since he became famous it wha!😂😂
Ummm... not sure he would agree...😬😬😬😬
Paul’s fit is❤️🔥
Such a fine guy 😊
When I first saw the trailers I thought it was Josh Hutcherson in the role and wasn't really interested in the film, but seeing Paul on Hot Ones and now this, he gives off a totally different vibe and seeing the movie actually seems worthwhile. Have to look up his other movies.
He seems grounded and nice, glad he is having a moment. I am still only seeing this movie for pedro tho 😆.
Having a moment? He was nominated for an Oscar ffs
That’s what girls have to think about all the time
"Into your underwear, please."
🤨 "Um... buy me dinner, first."
"Into Your Underwear, Please" is now the new Opening Line...
Ooh good stylin’ 🫰🏼
He reminds me of Daniel Radcliffe for some reason
He looks so much younger than in the clip.
Love the Nudie Suit tribute jacket! Gram Parsons would be proud.
Why is he wearing that jacket from the Grand Old Oprah is he the grandson of Mini Pearl ?! 😁 My best Halloween costume ( Mini Pearl)
loved the movie
The band!!!!!!!!!
Paul handsome armour do Entertain
Good morning stephen colbert fans
Come on now please don't disappoint us we need four more years of Our Cartoon President to get through this
Paul Mescal......so bewitching !
Why would they show such a climactic clip from the movie???? Should have shown a clip from earlier on in the movie of him interacting with Denzel
Made me want to see it.
enjoyed the movies but please ridley scott change writers
plus listen to experts advice a little bit.
it would make the introvless comical to watch and i believe it was not intended
yes so many errors -- I rewatch part one and it was really hurting all the historical errors. No wonder the historical experts left the set of part one.
Nothing wrong with the actors. Paul should continue to make movies like All of us strangers
Agreed. Script was weak
He was on Hot Ones last week.
I want his jacket x
His performance was amazing in Gladiator 2! He will become a movie star now due to this film
due to this film? he was nominated for an oscar for best male actor last year
@ Yes I’m aware but being a “movie star” does require you to have a lead role in major motion pictures/blockbusters. Aftersun is just a tiny Indie movie.
Oh god the chicken, I know the feeling, id eat more, but they make it so expensive in shops, one 120g pack 2.99 euro, 2 packs for a Fiver, i usually buy 4 packs for 10 euro, one pack has only 25 g of proteins, which is nothing if youre really wants some results. its really hard to hit the daily protein target when youre working out, im struggling with that big time
He should do a biopic about fred again lol
Honest to god movie star is right
That suit.
It'd have been funny if to that trainer he'd have responded, "No, you're just gonna hafta watch _Normal People_ like EVERYONE else."
Producers hopefully NEVER Mescalculated his Talent ?.
Modern great sports gladiator, #RafaNadal. 22yrs.TennisChampion. 👑👏
Cut to five years later: Paul's trainer has been widely #MeTooed...
❤❤
Huh. When I said "Into your underwear please" to Paul Mescal, he didn't do it. Weird.
All of the chicken? Where do I sign to be an actor in gladiator movies?
paul, my roman empire
Nothing against him but Gladiator 2 was rather disappointing. The monkeys and sharks were just utterly ridiculous
I’d like to be mescalled!
Yer man had to give 3 "Idependence Day" leve speaches. That's too much to ask of any audience.
I want to marry him now! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ok. I'm not ready for a Roman-Irish gladiator either. I'll catch this when it streams which will be pretty soon.
As opposed to the original being Roman Australian. Were there any actors in the original that were “Roman”
@@liamjohnhawkins4212 I don't know. Most accents in Gladiator I were British. But the Roman-Australian sounded closer to British than the Roman-Irish actor does in Gladiator II.
@@willowsloughdxno it doesn’t 😂😂 do you understand that period of history ? Russell Crowe was Australian ffs 😂
@@SmcdMcd-d2k Go back to watching Bluey
This kid is Amazing in the film, and the movie itself is EPIC !!!! If I were you I would see it on the BIG screen where it belongs.
I am not into Gladiator movies. Never heard of this actor before. I will find the movie "Normal People" and watch this psychological thriller film.
Normal People is a tv series consisting of 12 episodes
As has already been pointed out, Normal People is actually a series - and a great binge watch at that. Pretty much everyone who watches the series falls in love with both lead characters - played by Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones. Once you're hooked on Paul Mescal, you may wish to check out his films Foe, All of Us Strangers and Aftersun - the latter of which earned him a well-deserved Oscar nom.
Where's Elvis Costello........
They show one of the last scenes as promotion? Wack.
awww that was kind of disappointing. the clip didnt make me believe that his voice could ignite the mens fire for revolution. like his voice was missing something, but will still watch the movie
Ah that’s just a complaint to complain like cmon
You’re absolutely right. There was zero passion or fire in that speech. And I’ll wait until the movie is streaming.
@@JadeValourlol all critics in the comments 😂😂 see one second of a clip
Spoiler alert He couldn’t be too loud in that scene, it had to be inspiring yet subdued or they would have been compromised. He had already shown such leadership his men were already well with him.
The Arena 😞 yikes
Paul is an adorable person and a great actor, but the movie Gladiator II is none other than an entertaining one, what is it about??? Movies like that mean nothing for your mind and soul, just a grand production and money wasted. Nobody can confirm the real history of the events. Ridley should've stuck with a new Alien instead.
Yup eire
Im not liking the accent of paul in the movie. 😮 It doesn't sound natural.
He needed a better trainer and steroids because he paled in comparison with former actors
Who else is unimpressed that Ridley Scott is spending enough money to end child hunger in the United States to make a historically inaccurate soft porn action movie?
Everytime I watch Paul Mescal i think how much he looks and sounds like Liam Neeson
You are deaf girl. Liam is from the north of Ireland. Completely different accent
🙄
Sloppy seconds!
Meh
can someone please style this boy’s hair for once
its messy curly style, what r u talking about
Absolutely not love his hair
I get where you're coming from, but that tussled hairstyle is deliberate - and done by a professional. According to the Vogue "Paul Mescal gets ready for the Gladiator II premiere" clip, both he and his hairstylist are into the 'mini-mullet' (I am not).
@@kylieb-p2515 thank you! I hope he'll grow out of it
@@zizinnnn Ditto!
First Trump gets re-elected, then a sequel to Gladiator. That's it. I'm out.
you give up easy ya wuss !!
Too talented for this silly crap
Free Palestine 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸
Cute as a button but overrated actor IMO.
This movie is not good . Nothing compare to the first one. I really love Gladiator. I saw it so many times :)))
It is a little ridiculous to have British people making films about gladiators with Irish and British actors. That's from a historical point of view of course. I am sure Mr. Mescal is a wonderful actor, but still. I understand that the gladiators came from different parts of the empire, but the ruling class was Roman, so I would want to see Italians with Italian accents in that type of movies not a version of that director's. But, that is just me.
The scene they just showed before the interview is the most ridiculous and bad played of the film......Paul Mescal is not an actor, he is a model who is truing to act.......he does the job but in a very inferior quality compared to Russel Crowe!!!!
I’m glad someone shares my feeling that the excerpt from the film is just atrocious! I don’t understand the praise it’s getting.
Actors pretending they achieve this physique with three months of training and not admitting to use steroids and other medication creates unrealistic body image expectations and harms young people in their development.
Oh shut up. You know nothing at all about his training.
Furrrstt!
Explain the accent please.
Irish.
Kildare we have many different accent in Ireland
This movie (and acting frankly) are beyond lame..-.-
Not the rite guy for gladiator not even close just fit for gay and chic flicks movies
Have you seen the movie? He was great.
@@janedoe327 I seen it and it is pathetic unreal , no lead actor for a powerful role like that as for the film sad not even close to the first one , will go down as a Bad B movie sad
He is an overrated actor.
I strongly disagree.
Doesn’t wanna be rude… but he doesn’t have the charisma for that role…. He seems a poet, not a fighter… I hope didn’t ruined the legacy 🤷♂️ Would be better just have one Galdiator
IM(not-so)HO, Paul Mescal's charisma is off the charts. He also does a lot of his own stunts. Have you seen his impressive horsemanship? If not, check out the Hollywood Authentic video titled 'Paul Mescal Talks Horses with Greg Williams'.
Actually, that horse video is well worth a watch for Mescal's charisma alone. But nobody could be unimpressed by how effortlessly he mounts that huge horse from a running start - twice!
I’m not talking about Mescal Charisma or even talent, he seems a very talented hard working, good looking charismatic actor… the question is from the pure straight view point of the art… the casting was not a plus for the calibre of this film… good Actors can do anything but at certain point of their careers have stronger attributes and profiles than others or in a certain time… I think Mescal is good for other profile of film… not the Gladiator type… it’s just that 😌 From the pure perspective of the cinema as an art…
@@leopoldo3279 I think it's safe to assume that Paul Mescal was cast at least in part because of his facial profile. But Mescal also has a reasonably strong presence in the trailers and teasers, despite the fact that he's meant to be portraying a reluctant leader. Curiously, I revisited Russell Crowe's appearance in the original movie, which was made back in his youth, and at a time of his own relative obscurity internationally. Crowe didn't bring as much gravitas to (at least parts of) that film as some people seem to think. BTW, I'm an Aussie, and I remember going to Australian film festivals and theatres and watching Crowe as a young local talent, including in Proof and Romper Stomper (the latter being a very disturbing film in my own youth for its sexual violence).
There are a certain type of charisma that fighters and warriors have, that Paul Mescal, at least now, in this phase of life and career still don’t have, Russel Crowe, Denzel Washington, Keanu Reeves etc… the casting failed… make the sense your explanation but still doesn’t answer to the demand for this movie…
Gladiator 2 was trash. The legacy of Maximus reins too much in the movie.
Spoiler alert: Maximus did slay the evil emperor of the Roman Empire in the old movie. That will create a legacy. Disappearing everyone from that movie, off screen, to create a completely unrelated story would have made zero sense.
@ Spoiler Alert: No shit and that’s not what I was referring too.
It's now been more than two comments since you've used the word "woke" in an argument. Are you feeling alright?
@@TheRealDuckofDeath I think you are slowly falling into a stroke… are you smelling burnt toast…?? cause I don’t understand what you think “woke” has to do with a movie. But get in where you fit in, little man. 😆😆
The word is "reigns".
Ur a disgrace stephen ....
Paul you turned a leading character into a Beta male with your weak performance..so disappointed they cast you in that role you clearly weren’t even meant for the film.
Beta male? Lol please grow up
