Thanks for the review of the 4K and for showing the packaging. This is a movie I watched as a kid, and as an adult I've had it on countless "buy someday" lists, but never got around to it. Tonight I see this Criterion collection version in 4K on sale, and I'm thinking to pull the trigger.
@@20thand21stMovies I did order it that night along with Criterion's Time Bandits 4K, and the order has been shipped (ETA is still listed as TBD per the Tracking #). I eagerly await the delivery so I can have a Terry Gilliam movie night 😁 Thanks again for the review!
Thank you and subscribed! Very keen to get this for the beauty and the BTS info. I recently found a second-hand box set of Gilliam films from Europe with a pop-up cover.
Glad you enjoyed this review and that you found this community of film lovers in this corner of RUclips! Welcome. Hope you enjoy the Gilliam box set you picked up.
Just picked The Adventures of Baron Munchausen 4k Criterion on Fri at Best Buy love this film already had the old blue ray haven't had a chance to watch it yet plan on watching in on Mon along with my Gamera Box Set which I got for Christmas
Also should say that a film like this need to be seen in a projector setting because of its kind of scope type of grandeur film and all it cool special effects I have a soft spot for this film because I grew up with the 2 animated films and the films of Karl Zeman
Seeing this film projected would be a nice experience indeed I’m sure. I have not picked up the Karl Zeman set from Criterion but might in a future sale.
Great review. I had never seen this before until last night and really enjoyed it a lot. Looks amazing in 4k. Good luck tonight James. Being from Texas, I'll be pulling for TCU. But really just want to see a good, competitive game.
Hello, Hunter! Glad you enjoyed the review. Baron Munchausen 4K is a nice edition from Criterion and glad you had a chance to enjoy it as well. Nice start to the year for the label. Should be a good game tonight. Go Dawgs!
You forgot Time Bandits, the first film in this trilogy, which is fantastic by the way, it's one of his best movies. Time Bandits, Brazil, and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen are Gilliam's "Imagination Trilogy" ... It helps to view them this way as well, because they are thematically connected. My personal favourite is Brazil, it's my 2nd favourite film of all-time.
Hello there! I listed Time Bandits and Fear and Loathing in a brief text comment early in the video, but haven’t seen those films yet. I need to revisit Brazil which has an excellent Criterion release. Have an awesome Monday and week!
I have loved film this because I also remember The Fabulous Adventures of Baron Munchausen animated film from 1979 and it's sequel Moon Madness which I had recently watched both of them I remember seeing Moon Madness on hbo back around 1984 or 85 and also the Karl Zeman film from 1962 which is one of my favorite box sets
@20th anx900h pd 21st Movies Yes The animated film The Fabulous Adventures of Baron Munchausen is from 1979 its a french film but it was released in english also its ok but it's not as good as the second film which in the U.S was called Moon Madness they are hard films to find they haven't been remastered at all yet only u can get them on dvd but they are hard to get I own both of them since I purchased them about 20 yrs ago now but u can watch them on RUclips first film is sub par picture quality but at least watchable but Moon Madness which is my favorite is better picture quality and more fun it reminds me alot of the also French animated film Fantastic Planet in just the way the characters are portrayed and how the film was made in that same out of this world quality. Its cool to see all the films that have to deal with the character of Baron Munchausen and to get a better feel for the other films and to understand more about his character.
This definitely is a bizarre film that most people may not be in to but I like this sort of weird stuff so I really dig this movie. Definitely need to upgrade my blu ray to this.
Hey, Huck! Baron Munchausen is a fun movie for sure. The 4K picture is solid and there are some nice features on the second blu-ray disc. Hope you enjoy the upgrade if you take the plunge 😀.

Weird movie & one time watch in my opinion 🍻
I found this film to be a fun one to watch but I agree it is not a film for everyone.
