Some missions were easy, you could just breath through them. But some really made you rage. Perfectly balanced imo. Pellenor Fields was indeed difficult single player but quite easy coop. Espcially if one of you had Legolas with double arrors. One person simply had to parry while the one who plays as Legolas shoots everything. Ramparts was indeed difficult, even coop. But it was the final mission, it was suppossed to be hard.
Nah. The problem with todays culture is it doesn't come up with enough original ideas. It constantly looks to the past instead of the future. We have enough remakes and remasters, it's time to stop being a slave to nostalgia and look to create original ideas instead of trying to make money off of old ones.

Classic movies that were released on VHS have been digitized and are available for streaming. If you were to suggest that a movie or piece of music should only be available in the format they were originally released on people would be horrified. Why should this be different for computer games. Doesn't necessarily need a remake but a port for current consoles would be great.

Legolas maxed out is OK shooting 2 magical arrows at once ..but to be honest every character in this game maxed out is op...I maxed them all out even the hobbits are beast maxed out.

Also, legolas mithril arrows were so unfair, so op. Southern gates was the best mission, you'd have hordes of orcs coming at you.
i beat the campaign a few weeks ago on the wii and holy shit im a grown ass man and i had to youtube why i couldnt get past the minus tirith defense lvl it was those damn towers lmao
Me and my brothers played the troll bridge level probably hundreds many times, so many orcs to kills. The best was finding out that you can grab the spear next to the bridge just before the cutscene and it would actually kill the troll during it. So many memories

Dude, this game (and the previous one) is awesome. This was one of the defining games of my childhood, and I played it even well through high school. I think there was even a horde survival mode too. It was one game my dad and i always played together, so this has fond memories.

While I mainly played Gimli in this, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed myself the most when I played as Pippin of all people I do like that each of the Hobbits is built differently too Something that was so satisfying too was timing parry counters to go into perfect mode, then keep chaining that perfect mode, until 90% of all your kills were perfect ranked
I'm pretty sure they made the Minas Tirith battle dark and smoky to save on draw distance, but I love the way it looks. I'm pretty sure it's more accurate to how it was described in the book as well.
One of my favourite games ever. I went through a massive PS2 collecting phase in about 2010, most of them bought at Blockbusters for 50p each as they were closing down. This was one of the standout titles on the system, really captured the atmosphere of the movie. I think The Two Towers is also very good with similar gameplay. However The Fellowship game that came before them was kind of a naff, cartoonish, open world adventure and nowhere near as good.
Yeah, the Fellowship game was based off the books which is why it was far different in tone. I actually enjoyed it, but it definitely came out at the wrong time because everyone linked it to the movies.

A lot of people found this and The Two Towers to be extremely difficult, but it's literally just because those people could not grasp the concept of parry and riposte. You can get through Fangorn in The Two Towers with a level 1 character and take zero damage if you remember to parry before you attack unless there's an opening to attack first.
Additional, unasked for fun facts: @1:16 You can walk down the ramp, fight the 5 orcs that appear after the animation, then just hang out on that ramp while the ents kill the orcs. When the count is reached, the game will set you right in front of where you need to go. If you can aim them right, the characters hop backwards through fog faster than they walk. @9:33 As you pointed out, the game was released before the movies, and they used an earlier design for the Witch King's helmet here. (It also explains why they use only the FOTR and TTT soundtracks).

I have vivid memories of this game. I had a friend we played coop with and we always claimed characters. My friend played Legolas and I played Gimli and Gandalf. I remember we had it down to a science, including backwards jumping through the tomb of the dead while escaping the collapsing rocks

Having Frodo knock Golum into the lava completely buggers Tolkien's message, but it is pretty cathartic.
