- Come along with me as I spend all my money at Home Depot, destroy my arms building a fence and going full on Bill Murray from Caddyshack on a gopher!
Subscribe and come along for the ride as I show you every satisfying detail of the construction of my acreage! From building a custom detailing studio and shop, to building a new house...that's just the beginning! The projects only get bigger as I build one of the most beautiful, unique and epic acreages around!
About had a heart attack looking at Ruby's gas bill, holy cow!!!
Your camera angle efforts are worth it! Very professional!
Yes Mitch, we enjoy your videos and love watching them😌 I have one teeny tiny request, if possible of course. If it suits you, and circumstances allows it, can you make them a little longer? xx
that is planned! 😉
--
he starts slowly. I think, it's a wise decision. it's a new channel and something like, "nah, I don't even click on a video that's half an hour long"-inhibition definitely exists. so, everything has to be taken into consideration and is at a slight trade-off at the beginnings.
@@HxTurtle yeah I get what you're saying. xx
They're trending upwards a minute or two every upload 😃
I enjoy all of your videos
Oh wow your not kidding about the wind ! We could hear it
My family has 2.5 acres, and my step-dad has made it his life mission to conquer the gophers! He's so passionate about it he can be scary. He's always trying to come up with ways to win the gopher war. 🤣
He's weird but I love him.
What an awesome idea! The main channel is great, but being a gardener, the new project is equally as exciting!!
Thank you Mitch
I am so glad that i am part of the 27.3k plus subscribers that can follow the 4th video of this new channel. Many times when you discovering an existing channel there would tons of videos to catch up to...luckily here is only 4😂
Keep making progress brother! The loyal audience you have will stay on watch. I have project myself I will be developing myself. Rock ON!
Thank you so much for sharing your dreams on RUclips. I’m definitely here watching and can’t wait to see what’s next!
You might want to consider investing in a fence post driver. They are like $50 but sure would save you some time and the soreness of using a sledge hammer!
I used the bobcat for the rest, just didn’t have help that day 😄
In Michigan, fence posts are supposed to be 6 inches or 1 foot (I forget) inside your property. But 5 feet is too much!
I really enjoy this type of content so appreciate you creating this channel. I look forward to watching the progress as it all starts coming together. 😊
Using a sledge hammer is cooler😁
Got that sucker! Those things t create a lot of destruction. Nice property what city is that in ?
Like these videos? Yes. More, please. I especially like the explanations of decisions, your logic and reasoning. Even backing into the garage to park is preparation for the next time you go anywhere. I have often wondered about how much time it takes to get some of the shots in your videos. I may be part of that older generation of which you speak and have been using computers since the 70s and found your property on Google maps in about 10 minutes. Don’t worry, I won’t tell.
hi Shannon and super nice seeing you on her 👋
awesome observation. yes, you definitely have a good eye for the detail (that's how you knew how to find him. a constant concern of countless many RUclipsrs. I know one with over half a million subscribers on here.
it's really difficult to avoid being doxed online. even when you think you play it super safe with everything you show, people still figure ways-including sending air tags to their Po boxes! 😲
I myself am eerily good in finding things and usually have a good dimensional awareness.)
but what was my point again? yeah, I started because when I was in the army, it was mandatory for us to pull in backwards every single time.
I mean, you might need to get away quickly, you never know.
--
cheers! 😊
@@HxTurtle Sending air tags to PO boxes?! I shouldn't be as surprised as I am. The quick and easy getaway is why I prefer to back in. Other Army vets I know do the same. I am former USAF myself.

Love all of the work you put into your videos! It’s noticed and appreciated. Would love them to be even longer! But understand the time and effort it takes to do so. I love that we even get to see the little bit of behind the scenes that we do. Thank you for all of it!
I feel like half his day is spent setting up the shots. And I do appreciate it.
$240 is absolutely insane
Crazy right? I’ll never spend that much $ on gas alone if I needed to, even if I was loaded with lots of cash in my bank account.
The scenery is absolutely gorgeous! The sky, wow!
I'm the older generation, and I appreciate innovation. Yours has paid off, definitely.
Omg yay another yard geek video ❤❤❤❤
Keep posting these types of videos… its nice to see a different side of you. Btw… my husband laughs at me because of my OCD when it comes to cleaning my car. Especially when I break out my Detail Geek detail brushes 😂
Let Mike hold the post in the thunderstorm. It'd be good for his yoga moves.
I'm from Australia, and have always enjoyed your main channel. Now that you're doing this new project, it's even more exciting as I love construction etc. I'm excited to see what you do... Keep up the good work man! :)
Awesome! Thank you!
Watching from the Republic of South Africa🇿🇦. Wish you all blessed Saturday.
Absolutely pleasantly surprised to see another channel of yours! Love these videos, can’t wait to see more!
Great video ! Love watching the progress
You said gopher, and all i could think about was Caddyshack. 😂
You're living my dream! Love your detail videos and to now your yard videos Thank you Sir!
Glad you like them!
I loved hearing the wind howling in the background. But it looks like you've put in a good days work.😀
Nice camera angles. Much appreciated.
I think RUclips ate my comment about how we all love the videos and The Yard Geek rules so I'm saying it again! Great job on the fence and camera in the shopping cart explanation. The cashier was a doll! 🤣
Gophers eat earthworms and earthworms like acidic soils. If you "sweeten" your soil by applying lime, the earthworms will move to more acidic soil areas and the gophers will follow them. Apply lime 2x a year (spring and fall), preferably just before a rain, so it washes into the soil. Most lawn-type grasses prefer sweeter soil, also, so the lime also helps keep your lawn happy. A golf course groundskeeper taught me this little trick...it works!
Actually they're herbivores 😊
I love how this channel actually shows your personality. You are funny😆
How cool great video.😊
It's amazing how u literally do everything yourself
Looking forward to these videos coming out more regularly, definitely enjoy watching you build your dream yard.
Great watching you build your dream!
Great video! Loved all the B-roll shots and I totally appreciated each one! 😅
Love watching the progress. Thanks so much for sharing.
Mitch I’ve watched your main channel for a few years and I like it very much. This channel looks interesting and I’m along for the journey. I know Mike makes a cameo from time to time but I think it would bring a little bit more depth to you and this grand project if we saw you interact with other people, like the woman at Home Depot. It would be nice to see you get a hand from others or crack a beer open with a friend. Just a thought …. Keep the videos coming! 😃 (P.S. yes I do like and am a subscriber.)
We're enjoying these videos!
Poor little gopher 😢
Great video man! I build fence every day and you GOTTA invest in a gas powered pounder. You could’ve got that done way faster. Also get a fork attachment for your skid steer!
Thanks! I used the bobcat for the rest…just didn’t have help arranged that day 😄
Thanks Mitch! 👊👍Hard work paying off my friend 🙏Just commenting on all the progress you've made on everything, thats all.
Great Video, can not wait for the next one.
My father said b4 u take a shovel or n this case a post hole digger u should probably saturate the ground w/water by hose, buckets,or after it rains.Make the task much easier.😊
I love these videos Mich. Don't stop making them. Good luck with Mike helping. Longer would be nice, say 20 minutes or so. I just can't believe you do all this work by yourself with no help. You are amazing. You remind me of another you tube channel I watch, what a guy took two metal container, and built a home out of them by himself for his family in the middle of nowhere in Texas.
Thank you!
To keep out deer, you either need a taller fence or a double shorter fence. A post driver will be your best friend.
The fence will be doubled, but it’s not intended as a true deer fence as it’s not high enough. I’m hoping it deters them enough that they just go eat my neighbours plants/trees instead 🤣
@@TheYardGeek 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Enjoying the videos! Looking forward to the next one.
Hey Mitch, I always enjoy your videos! They are very relaxing. I do hope to see many more of your awesome videos! Thank you so very much for sharing them, they make my day! 💣💪❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🙃🤗🥰
Glad you like them!
Amazing episode can't wait to follow along for the ride 👏
Thanks for sharing your process & life a lil with us. Truly enjoy watching, & cant wait to see the end result. Much love!
I am very happy for you doing the yard Geek. Also good Job
It's so weird to see you in non car washing attire. I almost expected you to start detailing the bobcat when you backed it in. Enjoying the new channel.
Hey Mitch,
Love your content keep it coming❤
As Always Amazing!!!!❤
Loving your Yard Geek channel content, so far. Keep ‘em coming!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Man what a beautiful view you have. I could watch these videos all day 🎉
Loving this content keep ‘em coming!!!!!!
Huge job! Love seeing it happen.
Congratulations on your new channel as well! It is always inspiring on how you put your heart on the things you do!
Binging the new channel. RUclips hasn’t given me notifications for your main channel in FOREVER!!
Great video Mitch, you got the Gopher! 😅
It's truly a pleasure watching, keep it up!
During the sequence when you were talking about the howling wind, one of my cats stopped and listened to the sound of the wind which was audible.
Thanks for sharing! Enjoy your content.
Thanks for watching!
Love your videos! I don't have a yard, so I get to geek out watching you!
Dude, get a post pounder! Sold rather cheap at any home improvement store or feed store. Its a cylinder with a weight at the closed end and handles. Slip the open end over the post and pound away. Much easier than what you're doing.
I used the Bobcat for the rest, just didn't have help arranged that day 😁
@@TheYardGeek, yeah I should read a few of the comments myself. I see now that I was probably the 15th person to let you know about those post pounders. A bobcat works too.
Be careful with the roundup spray please (though I know you always check things out). Hopefully they’ll be a nice balance between wildlife and pollinators etc. very interesting videos as well. My husband and I are looking at retirement soon - I’m working and he’s the gardener with his plumeria varieties here in So Cal. We’ve got hawks, coyotes, raccoons and possums in our housing tract. It must be incredible to live where you are and see that amazing view. 😊
Absolutely beautiful property ❤️
Really enjoy these kind of videos and definitely know the amount of time and effort it goes into creating them. Keep up the great work!
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing Mitch! Your videos are always so educational and entertaining. You are hands down one of my favourite channels. Things are so different there than where I live in Europe. Your content teaches me new things every time. Keep up the great work and thanks a ton for sharing! Much love from The Netherlands. ❤️
Thank you!
We are watching brother!
Wow!!! Can’t wait to see your next videos
No fence on the planet can keep out a rabbit. Many decades of living out in the country has taught me that. Deer can jump anything anytime. Look for a farm supply store for your t-posts. Much cheaper than Home Depot. Can’t wait for your next video!
Fences keep out rabbits no problem, but you’re right that deer could jump the fence if they really wanted to. That being said, the risk of that happening will be much lower when they can just go and eat my neighbours trees and plants with less effort 🤣
@@TheYardGeek My neighbors trees must not be tasty enough. The deer still come eat my stuff. Sigh. And rabbit love Hostas! Wish you could come geek out on my yard! I’ll just geek out watching you geek out on your yard!
It was pretty cool seeing the build I enjoy seeing the progress you make on the acreage
Thanks for the extra effort, and the video!
Always love your videos your such a professional at any thing you turn your hands to. And yes I hear the wind 👏🏻🇨🇮😎
Poor gopher 😢
Love it!
I love your videos. On your other channel as well. I always learn so much!
My guess is that you're gonna need a taller fence. Deer can easily clear a 5 to 6 foot fence.
Correct. It's not meant to be a true deer fence but rather more of a deterrent.....so they go and eat my neighbours plants and trees instead 🤣
I’m 72 & I understand.
Love your content!
🙏🏻🕊💙
Thank you!
Nice video, love it,💯
Place is looking great, videos are great too
I'm still in awe at the $240 in gas. Lol
Those gorgeous wide open Saskatchewan skies, where you see the storms coming in for miles. Unfortunately, it also means the winds blow for miles too, hence the need for trees for wind breaks. The place is looking great, love, love these videos! Looking forward to seeing more.❤️❤️❤️
I’m very much enjoying these videos
Loving the vlog-style videos! 👍👍👍
The first comment on the amount of work to get the shot... I was actually thinking about how much extra work is required to get a drive-by shot - apparently a ridiculous amount. Appreciated! I imagine doing most things 2-3 times just to get the shot does take quite a bit of effort. RUclipsr = serious work.
It really is, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Watching from the Caribbean
Your videos are always very professional made.
Thank you very much!
Absolutely enjoying your new channel.
Glad to hear it!
As an Aussie I find it amazing that you guys can just go and buy your own bobcat, so cool
Stumbled on your Detail Geek channel and now I’m a subscriber here
Really enjoy yard work vids 👍
Fellow Aussie here, loved Mitch's work for a few years now ❤
Your first statement infers that you can't go buy one because something is different in Australia...can you clarify?
@@brianm9085I'm now curious as well!
yeah, sometimes laws in what a private person can buy are like crazy. it's definitely a thing in Europe as well (where you need a business license to buy certain things.)
@@HxTurtlewhere in Europe can't you buy a bobcat or similar without a license? ...
I'm an Aussie and I have a Bobcat :D. I'm not going go lie, I love it!!
When you said "No bueno" it killed me😂😂
Love watching the videos! Keep up the hard work and put Lord Mike to help!
Love these videos!!
Loved this kind of vid!
It's beautiful property! Just don't overdo it if you are by yourself out there. Ruby is definitely an expensive one. She's pretty though. You are one of the hardest working men I've seen in a long time.
Man I waited so long for this but hoped it would be longer😢❤.
YOUR VIDEOS ARE JUST THE BEST😊
Your going to have a beautiful property, love your videos
Thank you!
Love the videos but I would like them to be longer. 20 min plus
Love the new video Mitch!!
Looking forward to next time, when Mike makes an appearance ❤😊
