People don’t understand the weight of a roof. If add in the moss, wet or covered in snow you’re talking about an incredible amount of weight which a timber roof is just not engineered for. This leads to unnecessary stress and load on the house. Look how good it looks? Looks a million pounds and really pretty with the variation in tile colour.
      Great job fella 😉👍🏻

If they're were to get a roofer to come in and repair the tiles, the roofer will tell them to get someone into remove all of the moss before they will even touch one tile. @@user-eg7lc1xx5w To the guy trying to repair it, it most likely would. That's why people go to the expense of having their STEPS and WALKWAYS, on the ground, power washed clean from lichen, moss, slime and fungi. On a pitched roof, it's even more dangerous. Step on some moss up on a tile, on a pitched roof, and we'll see you at ground level lickety-split. Why do you think our Roof Cleaning Guy isn't wandering all over the roof with the powerwash wand, but cleaning it from trestles?

@@user-eg7lc1xx5w Ah, you're speaking of the owner's desire to have the roof cleaned. So if there were broken tiles, and a roofer got up there to fix, it wouldn't be slippery? Because, from watching many of these kinds of videos, one of the main reason someone gets the moss and slime mold etc. power washed away is because it makes steps and walkways slippery, particularly in those rainy regions (where these naturally proliferate)...Sometimes owners have to remove because of "cosmetic" reasons; neighbourhood watch is not pleased...Your info relates more to whether or not the moss degrades the roof tiles in the first place; I'll always bow to superior knowledge on that front.

Here you are, on a 12 to 15 foot ladder, using a wand that must be at least just as long, with water surging through it, trying to keep your balance and methodically going back and forth to remove this moss! And constantly needing to climb back down and reposition the ladder!!! EXCELLENT JOB!!!

The door on the outside of the fireplace used to be common on all large fireplaces. Not sure why they have gotten away from it but it allows the homeowner to push the ash to the back of the firebox so it falls down into the metal box under the firebox so you can remove it all through the clean out door on the outside of the home. That way you do not have to make a mess by carrying ash through the house to clean out the fireplace.

It comes from people seeing houses and building that are made to have greenery on top, like moss lawns and such. They don't understand how much extra engineering and architecture design has to go into buildings to handle the extra weight of all of that. While a handful of moss is light, the amount across of roof gets heavy fast. Most roofs are not built to handle weight like that.

That moss is a living organism that if the home owner lets it stay on that roof, the moss will infiltrate the tiles , move them and break them. You did a great job cleaning that roof. i saw that you kept the nozzle always pointed down from the top. This is essential to not lift the tiles. It would be a great idea if the home owner had you come back every six months or so to do a spray wash with a bleach style compound to kill the moss regrowth. There are some really great mold and mildew inhibitor commercial compounds that really stop this kind of regrowth but they have to be put on at a consistent interval. That moss is some really determined stuff. nice job on the roof.Great video.

@@phil4986 constant treatment is actually worse for the roof and tiles. Yes I agree that moss is a.living organism but but it's also an organic organism and only causes damage by lifting the tile and getting into the roof, causing water ingress and felt rot, which in turn will cause the rafters to decay.
The best thing to do is remove the moss before it gets too big, treat with sodium hypochlorite and that will protect your roof for at least 5 years although the moss will still continue to grow as it lands from bird droppings. Hope this helps

Fantastic job again. The roof and render look amazing. I think they need to get you back to work your magic on their patio and cobblestones. ❤

Came out amazing! He needs to get someone to do few repairs but your care in washing it down probably saved a lot of tiles. Hope he hires you to do the walks, will be a beautiful place if that too is done. Walls came out nice too. Guess some folks don't realize how destructive mosses & molds & such can be. They can eat right through until you end up with puddle in your living room or middle of your bed!

VERY nice job! I'm surprised the owners waited so long to have this done. With those colors, I would want them popping all the time. Absolutely gorgeous! I don't know how you do it, handling the hose when fully extended, you are really good at this roof cleaning. I could never do this job. You should always be proud of your work. I do hope the owners scheduled to have the patio done as well, it looks really bad now with the roof and walls sparkling. 🌟🌟 A well done job indeed! 👍 And of course, thanks for the music! 😊

Looks fantastic! What a thorough job you did. At least the roofers wont slide down a moss covered slippery slide to the ground. I bet half the houses in that area will contact you within 3/12. I surely would.

Nice job! Companies are now using baking soda on asphalt roof shingles here on the west coast of Canada. That is just for ongoing treatment control, once heavy moss has been removed.

Loved your video. You are a beast doing that job by your self. Loved the choice of music, too. Job well done. Carry on…
