      these monitors are shit for some reason, flickering at low fps, especially with g sync on, maybe the g5 32 inch might be better for what you have to pay, 120hz still good enough, the g sync on the g7 monitor not very usable if you have an average PC that drops below 60hz at 1440p

    • @themusketeer9458
      @themusketeer9458 2 года назад +13

      @@lukasHenchman there can be a million reasons for your problem.. factory fault, nvidia settings fault, cpu/gpu fault, some random setting somewhere, i've had alot of gear through the years and even tho i now have everything top of the line, i still run into these kinds of problems. Then i can do something random, like i did with my current setup, set the max framerate limite in nvidia controll panel to 116fps on my 120hz oled tv, and suddenly everything looked smooth and even got a 15 fps boost on crysis..
      Point being, might not be the monitor

      @@mjcapo1 The curve should not be a problem once your brain adjusts and compensates for the curve. It will reduce head turn and your eyes will need to move less, especially the 1000r curve the monitor has because it's supposed to be alligned with the human vision. The only problem is that once you look at a normal large flat screen, the flat screen would be curved outwards because your brain already adjusted for curved monitors.
      Although, it's debatable whether a 27 inch monitors need to be curved since the curve doesn't really help much. A 32 inch monitor, on the other hand, definitely needs a curve because it's so big and you will be sitting close to it, unlike a TV. Your head and eyes need to move more because the 32" display is large, so a curve would really help in that case.

  • @alexvswrld
    @alexvswrld 2 года назад +21

    I got the 32 inch, it feels fine to me. I already had a 32'' flat monitor and in comparison, the G7 feels a tad smaller because of the curve. I didn't think I would like the curve but I actually enjoy it! I'm still to curious as to how the 27''' model would feel.

    • @CognizantCheddar
      @CognizantCheddar 2 года назад +7

      If you got used to a 32 inch flat, it is highly likely, if not guaranteed, that a 27 inch curved would feel too small. This is especially true for the G7, which has a more aggressive curve than usual.
      So you probably made the right choice. Although for me, QHD on a 32 inch doesn't have enough pixel density.

    • @alexvswrld
      @alexvswrld 2 года назад +3

      @@CognizantCheddar Yeah I know what you mean about the PPI, sometimes I do wish that I had gone for the 27''. With that said, although the picture on my monitor isn't the sharpest, it does look really clean in comparison to what I used to have....and definitely a step above 1080p.

    • @yesnoyeswait4306
      @yesnoyeswait4306 2 года назад +5

      Yeah its a shame that next step from QHD is 4k, i mean QHD is ideal on 27'' but not 32'', and 4k is so demanding for GPU, that its just not worth for online gaming for example, unless you are willing to pay +1000$ for GPU (if you can get one lol).

    I just got the 27 inch version yesterday, firmware version 1006. Absolutely phenomenal picture for a va with high contrast, 0 smear and better pixel response time than my previous 165hz dell s2417dg tn. The local dimming feature is useful while watching movies, making the black bars really dark and good while gaming in general while set to auto. Great precalibration at 2.19 and it shows while gaming super smoothly on my 2070 Super. No flickering issue as reported by other users, so I won't be changing the firmware as it works perfectly at 240hz with gsync enabled. Playing Rainbow 6 yesterday at 240hz felt insanely smooth and responsive.

      (G7 -32) The curve is like "wow" in your face at first. Several months later I don't notice it anymore. I can see the curve being off-putting to some people.
      I mostly use it for gaming and I could care less about the curve to be honest.
      Full page doc's you will notice the bend. Two, side by side not so much. I do find myself centering the screen often as I do move it around the desktop frequently. (mounted on monitor arm)
      The curve was not a selling point for me and is the only reason I hesitate recommending it. It did take about a month to get used to it, is all I can say.

    I'm going to get the 32" based on this review. I do however wonder: If you open a text edition software (visual studio, intelliJ etc.), does the text seem to curve on the middle? I saw a video where a box was dragged across the monitor and in the middle you'd see a "curve". It looked like the box would drop down and up when you reached the other side of the monitor.
    Video feedback:
    I really like these kind of reviews where you see the monitor(s) on a table instead of all the close-ups and advertisement clips.

      Thank you very much for your answer, I have been looking at a decent monitor that suits me for MONTHS, I was about to buy the DELL 32 DGF, I am currently 22 inches and I have been like this all my life, I took measurements of the 32-inch monitor by cutting a box to get used to the idea, and it is huge, then I applied it again for 27 inches and it seemed the perfect measurements for the distance that I would be sitting, which would be a distance of 80-90cm, so I will definitely buy 27 inches, Would you recommend the GYGABYTE to me? or do you have any other recommendation? I recently purchased the Odyssey G7 32" and transitioned from the Asus PG279Q 27" as my main gaming monitor.
    For me personally, I wanted to truly feel like this was an upgrade in every single way - most importantly from a design and experience prospective. From having a curve where none existed before in order to feel more immersed, and also increasing its size to also offer me a different gaming experience.
    Also, I compared the G7 27" and 32" side by side and in my own personal experience the 27" felt as if it had a steeper curve that actually made me feel nauseous, whereas the 32" did not have this effect on me whatsoever. Simply put, the 27" felt too small for me to really bring out that immersive and cinematic experience I was looking for.

      I have PG279Q and I'm wondering about a change for g7? I do not know yet if I will choose 27" or 32", i like 32" but i think that is to big for 1440p resolution (correct me if I'm wrong) previously I was using 27" Samsung at 1080p and it looked bad and I'm afraid it will be the same with 32" in 1440p :( btw, do you feel a performance jump? or not really? Or maybe is good idea to wait on new 2022 models? And what about g-sync? Rog have nativ, g7 have Compatible, it works the same? or this is big difference in g-sync techonlogy?

    • @kawacristian
      @kawacristian 2 года назад +2

      @@palos7319 I currently have the PG279Q as my secondary monitor so it was very easy to gauge their differences when I cycled games to both monitors. The performance jump is extremely noticeable. Games on the PG looked more jittery and stuttery, with significantly more ghosting. So id certainly recommend making the jump.
      The colours also seem to pop more due to the large contrast ratio on the G7. In regards to pixel density, it is slightly noticeable but only when you stop and truly look close to identity it.
      I wouldn't wait. Grab it, and you'll have a more immersive gaming experience.

      I don’t suggest buying a curved monitor for video editing, I have heard from other professionals that it’s difficult to work on curved displays. If you still want a curved monitor I would suggest the 32”.

      G sync is only usefull if you use a PC and a really strong grafics card. The main point of G sync is that u have 0 frame drops and no delay. Its a performance improvement Software from Nvidia =) BUT if you turned that off its not that big of a deal except if your a high end professional gamer.

      I am in the same situation as you, I have been looking at it for months and I was going to buy the dell 32 DGF, but thinking better and taking measurements of the supposed monitor comparing it with my 22 inches that I currently have, I think it would be too huge, since I I would be sitting at a distance of 80-90cm at most, and I would be rotating my view every 2x3, so I am almost certain that I will end up buying a 27, since it is still a large monitor

      @@christiancabrera5464 Very accurate. 32'' with 1440p has 93 pixel per inches, and 24'' full-hd has 92 pixel per inches, so its almost identical pixel density. You can check these from here: www.displayninja.com/what-is-pixel-density/
