Did you use the 4K to 1440p downscale option of the monitor? Does it affect lag? I am asking because if it does not affect lag then you will be able to have HDR signal with Series X/S consoles. Xbox does not support HDR in resolutions lower than 4K output from the console.
@@Yorgos888 this is a good question. So I asked Simon at TFT Central, he stated that the input lag won't be different at the different resolutions. I didn't test input lag at 4K unfortunately, so can't comment - all I did via 4K is attach a blu-ray player and it was able to take the 4K signal, which would suggest to me that it can work at 4K 60fps (downscaled to 1440p) on console!
@@TotallydubbedHD I managed to get 4K signal with HDR from Xbox series X. Limitations of course due to bandwidth of HDMI 2.0 was 60fps not 120fps. Also you cannot have VSync - VRR with HDR. Thanks for taking the time to search it for me.
@@Yorgos888 pleasure and thanks for sharing too :) Just an FYI on the bandwidth: you're correct, however, I've had reports of users buying a 1440p monitor, such as the Acer VG2710UP, running 120hz at 1440p while connected over a HDMI 2.0 port via their PS5. That's because the v2.0 connector can take that resolution/refresh rate, and I can only presume that it's downsampling the 4K 60Hz input in that respect. Hopefully I'm making sense lol
@totallydubbedHD Hello, good video, could you tell me if the one you have on your desktop is the 32 "version or the 27" version ... I have that same table! and I would like to know if the 32 would fit me. I think you review the 32 but i need a confirm. Thanks
After only ever playing on a flat panel, switching to this was a very easy adjustment. So much so that I’ve ordered and received my second G7 to have them side by side. Love this panel.
*If you're playing on a PS5 or Xbox Series here are the best settings. Thumbs up so others can see it. Brightness: 70 Contrast: 50 Sharpness: 76 Black level: Low Black Equalizer: 13 Local Dimming: On If you have an Xbox Series don't forget to turn FreeSync on so you can use the VRR feature. Awesome review, very thorough! For anyone running into the flickering/tearing issue using this with a MacBook Pro @ 240hz, make sure you update the G7 firmware. I also had to painstakingly find a USB C to Displayport cable that supported 240hz @ 1440p, and also had to turn off HDR in my MBP settings. That ended up fixing all of my issues. I have been using this as my daily driver for web / mobile app development with zero regrets. Tons of real estate, and easy on the eyes. Can't wait to truly put it to work with my RTX 3080 build next week when I get it!
@@chiefcaleb I tried a few different cables, but the only one that has worked flawlessly for me is the Startech CDP2DP146B. A little pricy, but it's worth it.

I finally was able to afford the 32" g7 and anxiously expected it to come yesterday. But, it unfortunately didnt arrive. So now im watching this vid just to make myself feel better.
Excellent review :-) I think it probably depends on the person how they experience the curve long term. For me personally after owning it for about 6 weeks I can say it is not something I notice while gaming. One thing you could say with the curve is that it does make the corners a bit closer to your peripheral vision during games which is a small plus for very fast paced games like FPS. Colors on this monitor are amazing. I wish the black were a bit better but I understand that this is the price for getting such a fast VA panel with no black smearing. I would love to see a G7 ultrawide version @ 34" with 1440p.
Thanks bud, glad you liked the review! Indeed, the curve isn't for everyone and is subjective, although for competitive gaming, I can't see it being a benefit - if anything a hinderance, but that's just my opinion.
Have you tried the Alienware 1440p 240hz monitor? Please tell me which one you really think is better. Because I really don’t know which one I should get...
@@NoSend901 congratulation for geting a 3080 ! ;-) for me its impossible to get one without Paying 3 times the price :-( . Witth this gpu on wqhd Monitor you will rich incredible FPS on every games!!! :-)
I rarely comment on any youtube videos but this was just an amazing review. Thank you so much! Got the 27 version and im more than happy with it! Was a bit skeptical to the steep curve but man was i wrong! Keep up the great work! You got my sub!
Great content! Would you recommend enabling adaptive sync or keeping it off for casual gaming? Your mentioned how some features aren't available when adaptive sync. I don't play competitively and enjoy games such as Elite: Dangerous, The Division 2 and various ARPG games. My system revolves around a 2080ti and an AMD 3900X CPU. I'm asking since I'm seriously considering this monitor to replace my old XB270HU.
The monitor you have is golden. I use the FreeSync variant the XF270HU. If you're a casual gamer, I don't see why you'd get a 240hz panel in the first place. I'd stick to what you have; and yes I'd enable it if you had this monitor and played both comp (disable FreeSync) and casual games (enable FreeSync). Glad you liked the content :)
Very detailed breakdown -- which I love. Thank you! So, the settings you adjusted to during the video are for games that require high refresh rates. If you are watching something like Animal Planet, and just want a great picture without the need for high refresh, what settings would be different from the ones recommended in the video? I'm still confused on if you should ever use Adaptive Sync as well.
Thanks buddy, glad you liked the review! So, other than the overdrive setting, there's nothing I'd alter from what was shown. As for the adaptive sync, I'd have that enabled if you're not playing competitive games (as you'll get a buttery smooth experience Vs getting as many frames as possible) hope that makes sense?
I can now finally settle on my ultimate choice. I have watched review after review as well as compared many "top" models and was not sure until this breakdown of the Samsung G7 (32 inch) THANKS FOR THE GUIDANCE
This monitor was the behemoth of all monitors in 2020, especially when the COVID crisis was kicking in. Despite its excellent benefits, its build is somewhat awkward, and would be more suitable for business use over extreme gaming.
Rotating monitors server 2 purposes, some users who program prefer portrait vs landscape, although in this case likely wouldn't go curved in this case. And lastly manufactures do this out of courtesy, plugging in cables blindly can sometimes just be annoying, swiveling the monitor to the side to allow panel access is just convenient. Anyways, thanks for the review despite almost a year later I finally was able to pick up a new GPU so I can finally join the 1440p world, I'll be looking to scoop this guy up next time I see a decent sale! Cheers
@@Crystali10-q2b I set out for a 3080 at the time, ended up getting a 3070ti just due to what I could get. I would always true to use an 80 series card or better when using 1440p for high performance applications, especially if your have 144+ refresh rate. otherwise what is the point.
@@Crystali10-q2b the market was being bought and resold at the time so I didn't want to spend 2k for a 3080, I went with a 3070ti but as I mentioned ideally you are staying with a XX80 Nvidia or AMD equivalent ideally, look at bench marks of the things it is you are looking to do and go from that
@@TotallydubbedHD Alright, I have it and what can I say... I'm still having fun with contrast, color etc, but hell... I played Cyberpunk 2077 with FreeSync on and damn, looks freaking amazing!
As you have reviewed so many monitors and also a lot of VA panels, what is your observation on the brightness flickering that occurs on lower FPS and especially when LFC kicks in because VA panels tend to be a little brighter on higher refresh rates? It seems like this is a common issue but is never generally talked about. Maybe also because less demanding games like CS will never come close to the LFC threshold so it's not noticeable in that case. But for CPU bound games like RPGs this seems to be a serious issue which many VAs have.
Interesting observation - not an issue I've noticed, but equally, I play games like: FIFA, Warzone, CSGO and Valorant and at all times (unless testing like in Destiny 2) I'd have FreeSync technologies etc disabled in order to maximise on FPS. So can't really comment on RPGs tbh or how they act generally with lower fps numbers (guess that's also to do with your GPU power at the same time, right?)
@@TotallydubbedHD You may could notice it in the pendulum demo, when enabling G-Sync and setting the FPS with the sliders around the lower G-Sync limit (often like 48Hz). The moment the FPS go below the limit, LFC will kick in and double or triple the Hz (displaying the same image multiple times) to keep up G-Sync. In this moment the brightness will probably have a slight spike that will be most noticeable on the background mountains of the demo. For some this might be an issue with insufficient GPU power. In my case I'm running a 3080 and noticed it in the pendulum demo but also in Guild Wars 2, which runs the heavy main loop of the game in a single CPU thread. In crowded areas the FPS often fluctuate between 40-80. Also in loading screens this was really present. But the most annoying occurrence was under Linux which I use for work, where G-Sync was enabled out of the box and the fps fluctuated even on the desktop right around that LFC bound. Was on the AOC Q27GU2, thought but in the above video you also mentioned that some reported flickering. I think it's a general VA issue, which is really annoying for some people and not noticed (or depending on the usage, no present) for most others. For me it sadly was a real deal breaker. I loved the high VA contrast but couldn't live with the flicker.
I can't say I've experienced those issues in a lot of the monitors I've tested. People have previously reported flicking on IPS panels too - look up the Acer Nitro VG270UP flickering for example. Again, didn't experience any issues myself. You also have to remember that most monitors aren't actually G-Sync certified nor have the module inside, and sometimes people expect it to work, but in reality it causes problems (like flickering) as there are issues in the monitor chain. Anyway, all I'm saying is that I didn't have issues, and I suspect for this panel it was due to some firmware problems that Samsung later fixed.
Im so scared of the light bleed and the contrast ratio. I really want to get one but dropping this kind of money and knowing of "issues" is scary. Thank you for giving me all of this information on it, it should help me make up my mind as its on special in my country right now.
I recently purchased the Odyssey G7 32" and transitioned from the Asus PG279Q 27" as my main gaming monitor. For me personally, I wanted to truly feel like this was an upgrade in every single way - most importantly from a design and experience prospective. From having a curve where none existed before in order to feel more immersed, and also increasing its size to also offer me a different gaming experience. Also, I compared the G7 27" and 32" side by side and in my own personal experience the 27" felt as if it had a steeper curve that actually made me feel nauseous, whereas the 32" did not have this effect on me whatsoever. Simply put, the 27" felt too small for me to really bring out that immersive and cinematic experience I was looking for.
Thanks for the review! I bought the monitor a couple of hours ago (mostly buying a new monitor for the HDR and the 240hz, the curve is a added bonus for me) I got the monitor for 420 dollars thanks to a student discount offer! So thats neat!
So just to share: I actually asked BenQ a few weeks ago about this very panel (I forgot that I had already asked about it haha) and they already agreed to send it to me - it's been on my schedule to review for some time already and the review will hopefully go live by 14 April; stay tuned :)
nice review bro! i just found the monitor, its will cost me 250 dollar, its not new but used a little bit. should i go for it? is there anything i have to look before buy a used monitor? thx bro
Hey! Great review! How do you think this would look like as dual-monitors? I've been thinking of either getting 2x G7 27" or G9 49" (basically 2 27" without the basil). I've always been worried if two 27" monitor with 1000R curve would be quite too curved, which is why I'm considering G9 49" with the 1000R curve. What do you think?
The G9 is way more curved, the 1000R curve isnt as bad as it seems on the 27. I think its more noticeble on the 32 tbh. I tried to search the web on how two 27 would look like without any luck. I already had a g7 27 and was really happy with it. Just went for it and bought another one because i found it on sale and i could pair it with a coupon i had. Dual 27 looks great, no issues what so ever. The middle bezel isnt a problem for me. I only game on one monitor.
Thanks! If you're getting dual monitors - it would really depend on your setup - the curve as the person above commented will be a little les obvious on the 27" model, but equally it still HAS a curve lol. Really subjective, up to you to see if it would be an issue or not - I know for me that if I were to use it for comp gaming, I'd be thrown off by its curvature. Not tried the G9 unfortunately, but presume that'd be a better option for an all-in-one solution - you should also look at AOC AG493UCX: ruclips.net/video/pEEsPo1Pvno/видео.html Arguably the best UW for the price.

With all due respect, your GPU is barely capable of 1440p at 144hz, let alone 240hz consistently; so would suggest 1080p 240hz for you, or 144hz 1440p. As for settings, they're shared in the video.

Thanks for reviewing this monitor on the workstation desk. I have the same desk and was wondering if the monitor could fit onto the raised desk. I noticed the panel is placed quite close since there isn't much space to move back or forward. Does it bother you?
It's really tight to be honest, so might be an issue for the 32" model. The triangular stand barely fits, in fact it's hanging off every so slightly! FYI, I don't have the monitor, just got it in for review.

Glad you liked the video! As for adding speakers, you mean plugged directly into the monitor? If so you'll just need ones with a 3.5mm jack input (as the monitor can output via its headphone jack) - not sure why you'd have this monitor, however, if you're solely on PS5.

Nice review. How's the blacks levels in this monitor in your opinion? Ratings measured almost 4000:1. I'm stick between this and a user Asus PG27UQ which has 300+ zones of local dimming and HDR 1000.

@@TotallydubbedHD I did. You did not speak about this in the Competitive Gaming section. Like I said, I am worried about muscle memory with a specific sensitivity being ruined with a curved screen because of the warped perception around the edges.. How did you find it?
Probably not because this monitor can go 240hz and the ps4 pro can only go 60fps in some games and lower. So it’s kinda pointless getting this for a ps4 pro. It’s good for pc gaming because pc can run games higher than 60fps.

Sorry I'm a bit confused. Is adaptive-Sync what enables G-sync or is adaptive-Sync only Freesync? Im worried because I would be using G-sync so it sounds like you have to choose between having tearing vs having high response time and input lag?
Adaptive sync is the overarching term, and thus this monitor has Freesync, which in turn if you have the right setup, will run G-Sync unofficially. Response time isn't affected, but there is technically a little input lag added when using adaptive sync, Vs it totally off.
@@TotallydubbedHDOh I think you mean RUN G-sync unofficially right? I don't know why I didn't think this may be a typo, I was so confused I thought you meant it would wreck G-sync haha.

@@Yorgos888 pleasure and thanks for sharing too :)
Just an FYI on the bandwidth: you're correct, however, I've had reports of users buying a 1440p monitor, such as the Acer VG2710UP, running 120hz at 1440p while connected over a HDMI 2.0 port via their PS5.
Thanks

Happy days, glad I could help :)
Same as you bro ! Mine's arriving tomorrow !
Man, I got the same table, now I know it fits
Happy days!

Thanks buddy, glad you found the video useful and are liking the monitor too! :)
Do you recommend it ?
@@TotallydubbedHD Thank you for responding. I've stuck with the Acer.
I have watched review after review as well as compared many "top" models and was not sure until this breakdown of the Samsung G7 (32 inch)

quick question. a 3080 card comes with hdmi 2.1 ports yet this monitor supports 2.0 hdmi.how to you manage to use it??
This monitor was the behemoth of all monitors in 2020, especially when the COVID crisis was kicking in. Despite its excellent benefits, its build is somewhat awkward, and would be more suitable for business use over extreme gaming.
@@videogamephenomhd yup!
Pleasure, glad the video was helpful :)
Thanks for sharing your experiences!
did the 27 inch look sharper than the 32 inch

Not tried the G9 unfortunately, but presume that'd be a better option for an all-in-one solution - you should also look at AOC AG493UCX: ruclips.net/video/pEEsPo1Pvno/видео.html

Hey man well detailed video. I was wondering if you could add speakers to the monitor ? I’m currently using a ps5 with the monitor. But no sound unfortunately. Help would be greatly appreciated!
Glad you liked the video!
As for adding speakers, you mean plugged directly into the monitor? If so you'll just need ones with a 3.5mm jack input (as the monitor can output via its headphone jack) - not sure why you'd have this monitor, however, if you're solely on PS5.
@@TotallydubbedHD hey there! Are you saying that this monitor won’t be used to the best of its abilities with a ps5? How about an Xbox series x? What’s the best high end 32 inch monitor that you recommend for either of these?
Hey there nice video, hows this monitor holding up in 2023? Is there any other 1440p 240hz monitors that you think rival or beat this one now?
Would still be up there, but I prefer flat IPS panels instead which I've now reviewed on the channel since looking at this one

Hey I took this monitor and it's really great, but in the monitor settings it offers a maximum of 144 Hz, my graphics card is RTX 2080 Super nVidia, how do I set it to have 240 Hz refresh at 2K, do you have any recommendations, do you switch G- Sync and whether to enable VSync in games or turn it off, I don't understand much, so I would like you to suggest me what is the best thing to do to get the most out of it, that is, to get the most out of my graphics card.
I also see i have VSync in the Control Panel graphics in games. where to turn on and where to turn off?
Greetings and all the best !
I presume you're connected over HDMI? Use displayport to get the max resolution and refresh rate.
Do not use Vsync in games or in the control panel.
As for G-Sync, that's to to you, I personally have that disabled. But if you want tear free gaming and you're more of a casual gamer, have it enabled through the monitor and the GPU settings.
@@TotallydubbedHD
Ohh thank you, I was completely confused at the same time my HDMI and Display port were turned on in the computer, I turned off HDMI so I am now switched to DISPLAY PORT,

@@TotallydubbedHD I will, wish me luck not to get a faulty panel!
@You Tube Nothing short than amazing. Didn't have any problem with the ppi being too low, I love everything about it
So is the msi optic better mate
@@matthewhart6684 MSI Optix monitor (the QD version) is driving me mad. It turns on for ages (cannot disable the startup logo), and when you turn it off and use multiple monitor displays, it disables it completely, causing flicker, and audio cuts on the other screen. And it causes the same issues again when you turn it on... Ridiculous, the only monitor I tested that causes it. I've tried with different machines, so I know it's the monitor that is causing it. I have the latest firmware on it as well. I'm going to return it, even though the colours and the refresh rates are great. The IPS glow is noticeable, the blacks are grey (as on almost all IPS panels of that price range), so I'm going for Samsung G7 27'', because the 32'' version was bothering me with the PPI...
did you play any fps like valorant or csgo ? i heard curve monitor not good for fps game and some people got dizzi when use it i never use curve monitor before but this monitor have really good price in my country so i really temptation to buy even though i want buy new monitor to play valorant

I bought this monitor because of you. Samsung owes you a commission!
Glad I could help buddy! Samsung don't pay any commission, nor would they be able to pay for any reviews (even if they offered £1m) :)
Thanks for the test, I wanted to know if it is perctant to have this monitor in 2K with a RTX 3090? The 4K is more beautiful but also much more expensive, it's a VA slab, what do you think of a use in Photoshop or Premiere with such a slab? Is it better to use IPS ? No ghost and tearing effect with this screen ? I also hesitated with the purchase of a LG Oled TV 48 inches, Gsync, 120 hrz and HDR, but I don't think that the TV can also be used as a PC monitor, because of the burn ? Thank you.
Covered most of these questions in the video. As for your TV, can't comment on it as I've no experience using a TV as a monitor.
I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to purchase this monitor. I'm thinking of stepping down from 4k to 2k because of the gain in fps. However I wonder if i will be able to accommodate the loss in pixel density. Since you reviewed the 32 inch. What's your Verdict concerning sharpness.
No issues whatsoever at 1440p; would recommend :)

Hello. Tell me pls, which version is better to buy G7 C27G75TQSR or G7 C27G75TQSI and what is the difference between them?
Nice review. How's the blacks levels in this monitor in your opinion? Ratings measured almost 4000:1. I'm stick between this and a user Asus PG27UQ which has 300+ zones of local dimming and HDR 1000.
Cheers, you'll see from my image quality section the numbers I achieved via my calibrator - in real world usage the black levels are excellent, although, as mentioned the entire panel looks a bit washed out Vs an IPS.
It definitely won't compete with the Asus in this domain though, namely with HDR content, at those local dimming zones + HDR 1000 will provide a bettered experience
Just recently got this monitor. Would you recommend turning on adaptive sync on the monitor itself for competitive gaming while also having gsync on with my 3080? Just worried having both on isn't optimal.
Did you watch the video?
What settings do you use when you play destiny 2? HDR does not look good for me and im confused why. No flicker but the image is very dark and low quality.
Check the OSD settings, local dimming, especially.
@@TotallydubbedHD turn it on or off? I know every panel is different but I was curious if you could provide all of the settings you use when playing destiny 2. I’m running this off a 1080ti so I’m unsure if that’s partially my issue as well being it is not a RTX card.

This might sound like a weird question but please bear with me: does this monitor have any issues when it comes to waking up from inactivity (the screen "turns off after X mins"), or when returning to the desktop after fullscreen gaming?
I only ask because I'm having such issues with an LG 27GL83A right now, hence why I'm looking for a replacement.
I mostly game but not competitively. Just single player titles and FF14.
Not a weird question; from memory I had no issues with it waking up; nor should any monitor tbh - so it's odd that the LG has an issue.
Also, if you're not a hardcore competitive gamer, I suggest maybe saving some money and looking at some of its alternatives (see description for suggestions)

There is one question I have regarding this and other monitors: energy consumption ratings. I notice this one is a rare 'A' rating. Any chance you could delve into this regarding how much it costs to run this (and other monitors), considering the fuels bills we are facing today?
No idea buddy sorry. I'd take those claims with a grain of salt - usually it's done in the eco modes thus rendering a monitor useless lol

Probably not because this monitor can go 240hz and the ps4 pro can only go 60fps in some games and lower. So it’s kinda pointless getting this for a ps4 pro. It’s good for pc gaming because pc can run games higher than 60fps.

Hey man quick question, for some reason it keeps saying the function isn’t available when I do response time and the refresh rate. Any suggestions on what to do?
HDR and/or Freesync?
Thx for review, I bought one few month ago, but I returned it bcoz it lost sometimes signal and the panel gets hot which is annoying. I saw a 2021 model of this monitor are these things fixed? I think it was one of the best monitors but with this issues massively to expansive
Oh that's odd! Had no issues myself.
@@TotallydubbedHD So can I have G-sync running without turning on adaptive sync?
@@mrmthemajesticmoose6767 no, you need it enabled so that you can run it.
