Thank you for the "Eskimo" explanation. As a fellow Canadian who lives in Edmonton, i think this is an important fact, and I am pleased that you included it. I don't even have a pet but have been a silent subscriber since you were at 100k because I absolutely love your content. It's an added bonus that you're hilarious, informative, and provide your services free of charge! Bless the hard work that you and the cameraperson do.
My grandma had a rescued American eskimo to keep her company after my grandpa died. Thank goodness for her having dozens of grandkids around to keep him occupied cause the one day none of us visited he ate the couch. I kind of think she put him up to it cause she hated that couch but can't prove it
He reminds me a lot of my cute Sophie who lived to the age of 16 years, she passed away in 2021. Sophie was always happy, loved to play, loved walks, and loved to snuggle. People are always impressed on how well behaved she is and impressed with how clean her fur is. I miss her all the time.
Just want to add that they have an amazing dirt-shedding coat! They can get really dirty, but when it dries it pretty much all falls off and they look fine. Never look grubby, although without a bath every now and again they can start to look just a bit dingy. My Sophie was a three-legged rescue with endless energy. I got her when she was six years old and she died at fifteen of a brain tumour. In between she was queen of the pack regulars with her dog walker, and definitely in charge of my heart. 💕🇨🇦
I had one of these minis around when I was little. I definitely remember the shedding and the fact that he missed one of our family members very loudly whenever that person left the house. 😅
Yes I love eskies!! Was hoping ylone day you'll show them on your channel! My mom has a mini as well and he is a delight ! My favourite of her 3 dogs lol. I hope to get a standard at some point.
I had a Spitz, he was so sweet, loving & such brave "bodyguard". He always knew who's a good or bad person. As all dogs they just know who to trust & who not to trust. I litterally relay on my dogs to let me know❣🐾❣🐾❣🐾
They can also be quite sharp in temperament if not well bred, one of the few dogs that ever bit me! And true, obedience and intelligence do not go hand in hand!
What an adorable fluffmeister! My best friend had a Standard American Eskimo named Shadow, who was the most gorgeous dog with yes, a decidedly stubborn streak. I absolutely adored him. ❤️
My first dog was a pesky Esky. She was poorly bred and had health issues, I made all the first time pet owner mistakes, etc. But even now many years after she passed here I am blubbering like a baby watching this lol They really are sweet and loving dogs with lots of personality.
We adopted our Cloud from a rescue that had saved dozens of dogs from a huge puppy mill near us. He's definitely inbred with lots of health issues too, but he's still hanging in there at 15 years old! He's our old man fluff butt lol.
This dog reminds me of my Little American Eskimo Oshilo. Lived to be 19 years old and every bit as energetic and smart in old age as when she was a pup. She was also notorious for going after gophers, voles, moles, mice etc. she was better than a cat. When I would offer her a treat she would run through her litany of tricks without being asked so quickly she looked like she was break dancing. She has been gone for 6 years now and I still miss her dearly.
We had a pair of standard when I was a baby until about 10! They had 3 litters, & totally agree, they're completely smart family dogs. I'll never forget all of the white hair clumps we'd have to pick up 😂 I love these dogs, if I'm lucky we'll get one to join our husky.
I have a standard sized American Eskimo, Aslen, who HATES being groomed. He'll jump out of the tube when he can, fights the blow dryer, and refuses to let anyone touch his behind and his paws. But he does love the towel and he'll let me brush everywhere else on his body so keeping most of his fur maintained hasn't been a problem.
We had a standard Eskie when I was growing up - she passed at the age of 15 in 2007. She was SO FREAKING SMART. She was potty trained in like 2 days. And my mom did take her to a private obedience class when she was a puppy. She was a great guard dog, and even though we joked that she was a grumpy old lady (she growled a lot), she never bit or attempted to bite anyone. I remember when she was maybe 10, mom and I left to go somewhere. I forgot something, so we headed back after a couple minutes but I went through the front door instead of the garage. There was Belle, laying on the sofa she knew she wasn’t supposed to be on, and she had a look of SUCH surprise on her face (“why are you back so soon?”) I couldn’t help but laugh. That little stinker *knew* she wasn’t allowed on furniture and we had never seen her on the couch before. I’ll never stop missing that dog ❤
My uncle had 2 standard Eskimos, Kodi and Yukon. His “babies” so not the best behaved lol, (spoiled rotten). But good tempered, beautiful and fun dogs. They are both over the rainbow bridge now. Miss them very much. 💖
Ok cute yes intelligent..weellll that's debatable. I say this as my Eski is in the room. I've always had German Shepherds and Queensland Heelers so when I researched getting a dog for my daughter I wanted a long life time, healthy, smart, and go anywhere dog. I used to work as a vet tech and should have listened to my old boss because when a American Eskimo Dog was listed at a rescue she said I was better getting another heeler. She said unless I get it directly from a reputable breeder it WILL be a puppy mill dog. I'm on the east coast and after 6yrs I can confirm unless you are at the breeders home it's 99% of the time a puppy mill with none of the wonderful traits those are hoping for in a American Eskimo. Sadly this is the plain and simple fact over the last 10yrs and Mill Dog Rescue does excellent work helping those who unfortunately have puppy mill dogs. We love our dog and despite a overwhelming amount of issues from seizures to allergies and everything in between we have decided to give her the best life possible. This means all the things we planned to do with a dog like hiking, dog parks, staying with friends who have dogs, anything social, etc...will never happen. But we make it work. Cute yes and 100% the breed description is ONLY applicable to a limited few over the last 10yrs.
We had one that we got that ended up at our local pound even though he was a pedigree and came with his champion line papers. He was 2 at the time and was very smart, gentle, and had an excellent temperament with our small children. He did bark at EVERYTHING: doorbell, knocking, sounds outside, movies with doorbells/knocking, a leaf blowing by, etc. He was fearful of men, except my husband. This breed is prone to tooth decay. Even though we brushed his teeth, he still needed regular teeth cleaning every year. He went blind at 13 and deaf just before 16. He went over rainbow bridge 3 mos. after his 16th birthday. They’re definitely smiling fluffy white clouds. He and my son were the only ones who would smile for photos.
My husband's co-worker had three of these dogs in the time we knew her. She had gotten two--a standard-size male, Duffy, and a toy female, Fluffy--as puppies, and they were like her kids. Fluffy sadly passed away after a stroke that had paralyzed her, and the owner got a young miniature female, named Tippy, as a successor. Tippy was a freaking ROCKET SHIP. She would get so excited when people came to visit that she would zoom around the living room, bouncing off the back of the couch, loveseat, and recliner, and never touch the floor. She wasn't a bad dog by any means... she just had tons and tons of puppy energy, even when she hit technical adulthood. Duffy, by this time, was about 15 years old, and he obviously thought Tippy was some sort of punishment for his sins, though he was very gentle with the excitable little critter. He was quite stubborn, but also very smart, as described, and he was extremely devoted to his human. Wonderful dogs, and yes, very fluffy and delightful to pet!
I really wanted an American Eskimo but they're so rare on the west coast. The only one I was able to find that wasn't a husky mix was a female with severe aggression on home to home. Such wonderful dogs I wish they were more common.
If you save the shed fur/hair & pack it into a suet-feeder cage and then hang it outside from a branch in the spring - all the birds in the vicinity will use it to line their nests. I know this because my sister had a standard-size American Eskimo. The birds loved his fur!!
We had an Eskie for 13 years. She was NOT super affectionate, but boy was she stubborn! She also could digest ANYTHING…except corn. She once ate a glass Christmas ornament and NOTHING HAPPENED. I personally wouldn’t recommend an Eskie for a first time dog owner expecting a snuggly lapdog. Ours actually did give “Eskimo kisses” though, which always made me smile.
I really want a page on GWTD site or sister site where she has a gallery list of breeds with her lil built up facts and tops for them for people to look into when trying to find dogs they may want.
New sub here. I love your channel. You make all that hard work look too easy, though. ;) I've owned Rotts, Dobes, Collies, Pits, Heelers, Beagles, Labs, and just about every Heinz 57 in between. My Mini Spitz was BY FAR the smartest dog I have ever had. He learned sit, down, stay, here, shake, dance, pray, speak, whisper, quiet, and radar before he was 6 months old. If I am ever able to have another dog, it will definitely be another Spitz. This time around, though, I'll turn all that melting snowball (shedding fluff) into pillows. lol What do you do with all the fluff you collect?
He’s so cute… I had two American Eskimo’s.. the first one had kidney failure st a year old and after three months decided to get another one and she died overnight with no warning. 😢
I have two standard American Eskimo dogs!! Their names are Cody and Casper... But their nickname are Yip and Yap!!! No joke they are so smart and always smiling.
I had no idea these were the same dog as the Spitz! I was familiar with the breed from the Tumblr blog "Spitz on the Fritz" and her smiley boy Hugo. Between him and Miko this little puffball breed has stolen my heart.
"Smiling little cloud" was exactly how I would've described him
Yes.He is a "smiling little cloud"
His face looks like this emoji 😛
correction: the emoji looks like him
@@portalsfae123yeah
@@portalsfae123 true true
Even annoyed he looks happy.
The dog said :👁️👄👁️

I wish they'd change the name back to the German one, out of respect.
"These dogs are so intelligent," I think Jacksfilms may disagree 😂 we love you, Sundae 🧡
I knew somebody would mention jacksfilms
They're just distracted by the light reflecting off John's forehead! Bahaha
Klondike too haha ^^
Sundae seems to the exception, not the rule
I actually thought this was a Jacksfilms video XD
Gorgeous Miko❤

😂😂😂 clever grandma 👵🏻!
😂
this dog have the most cutest eyes I ever had seen on a dog 👀🐕

And my heart just melted... What a fluffy cloud of joy 😍
Also a perfect fluffy cloud
I had 5 of these. Best dogs in the world.
I had a dog exactly like this as a kid, I named him Snowy :)
I had one also, we named him Snowball
Well would you look at this cutie pie😂🐕🦺🐕 so sweet❤
Doing the "grinch feet" is almost like a pawdicure for them. LOL ;) Love it!
Aww i love Eskies! I have a standard size AE named Cloud. I can confirm that he always looks like he's smiling. 🐶
My favorite dogs are little fluffy white clouds! What a sweet cotton ball
I love how you give information about the breed you're bathing!
His tongue has a mind of its own
Miko is a proper little gentleman!! Well done!
Pomeranians are a dog I've always wanted to own one day! That permanent dopey smile is to die for,,,
Miko is adorable! He looks great after his groom!
I had one of these minis around when I was little. I definitely remember the shedding and the fact that he missed one of our family members very loudly whenever that person left the house. 😅
He is so gorgeously white and perfect at the end! ❤️
I had never known there was so many different breeds of dogs until I first saw all of the dogs on both of the Girl with the dogs channels.
Such a handsome happy baby
Hehe! I’m so glad to see you grooming a dog like my Chillie😂❤
What a sweet boy!
Yes I love eskies!! Was hoping ylone day you'll show them on your channel! My mom has a mini as well and he is a delight ! My favourite of her 3 dogs lol. I hope to get a standard at some point.
Smile like a dog!
What a cute pooch and so well behaved!
He so adorable ❤

I had 2 of these dogs. Sweet little dogs.
My Standard American Eskimo Simba died last November at 14 years old and he was definitely the best dog I have ever had.
They can also be quite sharp in temperament if not well bred, one of the few dogs that ever bit me!
And true, obedience and intelligence do not go hand in hand!
My first dog was an American Eskimo named Chula. This video made me emo, i miss her so much! Thanks :)
What a stunning dog......
So he was ...majestic! Perfect little gut.
It’s like my Owin baby!! 💙💙💙 I love Eskises so much!!
What an adorable fluffmeister! My best friend had a Standard American Eskimo named Shadow, who was the most gorgeous dog with yes, a decidedly stubborn streak. I absolutely adored him. ❤️
He is adorable. ❤
thanks to you, I fell in love with this breed
He was really enjoying the blow dry 😂
such a good-tempered dog!
He was sooooooo cute omg 😩😩😍😍😍😍
He is Absolutely Gorgeous!😍😍😍
You really are quite the artist! Love the videos. 😺😺😺😺😺😺

What a cute little bean!
I love my Eskimo! I’m watching this video with my juicey 🥺❤️ they’re the best dogs

This guy could be an ambassador for small dogs around the world. This is what training and good owners look like.
I have a standard sized American Eskimo, Aslen, who HATES being groomed. He'll jump out of the tube when he can, fights the blow dryer, and refuses to let anyone touch his behind and his paws. What a delightful little guy ❤️❤️❤️ i've always loved spitz breeds, and eskies are no exception! (keesers will always be my favourite though)

What a good looking boy! 😊
Adorable fluff ball 🥰

such a pretty little ouppy
I still call them Spitzes. Cute dog and he behaved well for his grooming.
I have Eskimos and everything you say is true about them, great family dogs.

I own a Japanese spitz , not to sure how similar in breed they are but they literally look identical l, white fluffy puffs ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Loved Meeko!
He looks EXACTLY the same as my Japanese Spitz…I think they are the same
The best dog ever
Good boy!
We've had two of these babies, one standard and one mini, and they are the best! 💜
I've learned so much about the different dog breeds. Thank you for including this kind of information.
I really wanted an American Eskimo but they're so rare on the west coast. The only one I was able to find that wasn't a husky mix was a female with severe aggression on home to home. Such wonderful dogs I wish they were more common.
I miss my best friend. Miko looks like the twin of our Eskie sweetheart, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge years ago.
My aunt had an American Eskimo many years ago, named Joy. Love these dogs!
If you save the shed fur/hair & pack it into a suet-feeder cage and then hang it outside from a branch in the spring - all the birds in the vicinity will use it to line their nests. I know this because my sister had a standard-size American Eskimo. The birds loved his fur!!
Thought he was a Pomeranian at first 😱 he’s gorgeous!!!
Love to see a Schipperke on your channel
YESSS!!! FINALLY an Eskie!!!!!
Love this!
What a cutie. Looks like a bigger Pom.
1:10 Ahh. They got the german shepherd/alsatian treatment I see.
2:32 Such joy.
so _this_ is what Bob Ross meant when he said "happy little clouds"
From the tiniest Pom to the biggest Malamute, Spitzes are just all around lovable fluffballs of happiness.
I really want a page on GWTD site or sister site where she has a gallery list of breeds with her lil built up facts and tops for them for people to look into when trying to find dogs they may want.
Meeko reminds me of my favorite Game of Thrones direwolf, Ghost.
❤❤❤. I have a black 20 pound Schipperke key dog who looks similar, but she has culottes because she’s part corgi
My friend in middle school had an American Eskimo named Meeko!
Like a mini version of a Samoyed 😊
this dog looks like the Greek dog kokoni , very smart, kind to people and alarm the guard dogs in farms

I don't remember them too much, but my dad had a couple when I was growing up. They are very soft and beautiful dogs.
I have two standard American Eskimo dogs!! Their names are Cody and Casper... But their nickname are Yip and Yap!!! No joke they are so smart and always smiling.
Melt! 😍

omg - I did not know that they came in mini !
