@@augustvukosovich4683 , They're pretty healthy dogs. Mine only started having issues with her eyes at age 17. She lost vision on one side. I hope yours gives you love for many years.
I owned an American Eskimo dog for 16 years. This review is excellent and I could not agree more with everything the presenter said. There was nothing that she described that was not absolutely correct. They are wonderful dogs. Very devoted and loving. They are so smart and you have to invest time in them every day. It’s also important that you know they always want to be with you. This is not a dog that lives outside, on the porch, in a cage or left home alone for long periods. My Eskimo went to work with me every day the entire time I owned him. He was absolutely beloved at work. They are very easy to train. Sensitive too. You can hurt this dogs feelings if you aren’t careful. My Eskimo never stopped learning. I had virtually no health problems in the entire 16 years I owned him. Ultimately dementia took his mind and I sought the advice of my veterinarian who agreed that his 16 year life had reached its end.
😔❤️ I'm so sorry! They are amazing. My Taz lived to be a little over 15 and he too lived a very healthy life. I agree on being sensitive. When he started losing his bladder control, I put a doggy diaper on him. While doing so, he turned and looked at me with the expression of complete defeat and embarrassment. I did not do that to him again. Truly he was one of the best dogs we've ever owned. Because of him, we now have 2 mini Eskies and we're thrilled to have that Eskie personality in our lives again.
My eskie is 9 (going on 10) and has been with me and my (now) wife through 3 apartments and 2 houses. She's been there when both my kids were born and has the best temperament of any dog I've ever owned. I trust her 100% with my 4 and 6 year old, and they love (and respect) her like an older sister. She's literally the perfect dog. Granted, it took a solid 2 years to house train her, and she barks at a stiff breeze. But honestly, I wouldn't trade her for the world, and I'm so thankful this breed is known for its long life span.
I agree. My Eski was with me through 2 births too and we now have a 4 year old and a 7 year old and when my youngest gets into things he's not supposed to, my Eski barks and tells on him lol! He also guards my 4 year old if he is in a room by himself. He will crawl up on the bed and watch him even though he loves me the most. He's wonderful.
I agree 110% with every thing she said. I grew-up with 4 different Eskies ('70-80's). My first dog (on my own) was an Eskie rescue from the LA California area. He lived to be nearly 15+ years. 7 years he was diabetic with 2 shots of insulin a day, before we had to.. well .. a huge tumor on his hip area. 4 weeks later, my wife say an advertisement for an Eskie that had "a temperament issue, and needed an owner that understood the bread," BINGO! I didn't want another dog, but "Oliver" was one step away from...well. He spent the first 2+ years of his life in a create, before we made him part of the family. Let's say he was welcomed, but blood (mostly mine) was shed. OK, 10 years later and lots of dog parks, walks, etc. Any one can approach us/him and he smiles and is willing to be petted. That is his reward..the attention from others. That and the treats I give him. However, understand, this bread does not like competition...like any human sibling under 8 years. They (both human and dog ) want to be the center of attention. When Oliver moves on, I think I might get a St. Bernard, next. Why not, I've had the most loyal, smart, wanting to please, loving, and self confident companions I could ever want. Just kidding, another deserving Eskie it will be.
Jack my 5 year old eskimo, barks at any person or dog going into our yard. He knows about 50 commands, so very smart. I have trained him to be a service dog. He was originally bought to be a family dog but he favors me so I bought a cat for the kids lol. I get him groomed every 3 months for deshedding treatments and give him a quick brush almost every day. He is my love
I had a Eskie mix, but she had the temperament and personality of the Eskie noted in this video. She was the BEST DOG EVER. She was calm and friendly, was very smart and could learn tricks almost instantly. She was also highly independent (loved that this was mentioned in the video). I taught her a 3-part trick and one day she made it known that she didn't want to do it anymore. When I pressed, she obliged by combining all three steps into one! She was also intuitive, sensitive, and absolutely the most loving dog I've ever known. She was so gentle - able to put fearful dogs at ease and she was able to identify and comfort both dogs and people, when needed. She passed a year ago which is up there as one of the most painful experiences in my life. I'm sorry for the long share, I just miss her so much and I will miss her forever. If you're looking for a great companion and willing to offer love, understanding, and a safe and stable home in return, this breed will return the favor tenfold.
My dog is half but this Al 100% describes his personality. Thanks for teaching us more about the breed! I had figured a lot out getting to know my dog, but it’s interesting to know that all his quirks are breed characteristics.
I have an eskie too - she’s about to turn 4yrs old and her name is Yuki and you’re so correct with everything! Yuki is my first eskie and I just love her. She is my emotional support dog too and she’s really great at it!
I had an Eskie mini every thing you said is right on.My dog was always very much like a puppy. She lost her sight at 15 but got along pretty well, she was my constant companion, she lived to 18+ I let her go 2 days ago.The BEST dog ever.
I have been so impressed by my eskie since she was a puppy. I could tell right away she was different from other breeds I have had. It took one day for her to learn several things which she just seemed to remember later on. Can't stress my love enough for this breed. Great info on these wonderful companions
Both of my American Eskimos had a lot of health problems - but they were both larger than the breed standard - around 45 lbs, so maybe that was the problem. - 1st was Laika and he had an autoimmune disorder which required Prednisone to keep him from bleeding from his nose. It would just bleed and bleed and not stop. He died at only 10yrs old from liver & kidney failure. I was devastated, and just couldn’t get over losing him. So ran out too fast and got Bear - who was my sweet angel - I absolutely adored him. He just passed on Sept 1 at 13yrs old, from a brain tumor. I’m in agony. They are such smart, kind, intelligent dogs. You are so right about them being very intuitive and sensitive to “their human’s” emotions. They connect very deeply, and really give their heart to the ones they love. And they have HUGE personalities and are so so joyful & happy and just love life. I miss both of them terribly.
Great video I have an standard Eskimo mix and is handsome. I started training when he was 5 years old and a lot people told me he can’t do it but he did and he is great. He loves ❄️
Thank you so much for making this amazing video!! You have my dream pairing (I have an Eskie who is my best friend and I’m planning on getting a corgi next, which is awesome because my Eskie actually loves corgis!!) Your video is very well done and informative. I live in SoCal too so I would love to see you guys at a meetup or something (maybe corgi beach day haha)!
Aw thanks so much for your kind words! How old is your eskie and is he a mini or standard? Check out my blog post on how to find a reputable corgi breeder for your next pup 💖
Yep, accurate video. An interesting thing about them is they really do tend to have all these traits, very much. We have a toy, unbelievable pup, so happy we have her. They are a great companion dog, but they do require you be their companion human and if you can't do that to a fair degree, then they might be sad. They also do need exercise. Not a crazy amount, but they do have to have some routinely.
I had an Eskimo dog, her name was Tinkerbell, I miss her deeply, she was already an adult when we got her, she rarely barked but when she did we knew something was up.
Love the video. My Eskie, Stan is such a sweetheart, but SO LOUD! My dad jokes that Stan barks every time he hears a flea fart. He literally barks at everything. He's gotten a little better in the apartment about not barking at every little thump and bump in the building, but he does still grumble under his breath sometimes. I got him at 12 weeks old, and have tried everything to stop him from barking. But he's an absolute social butterfly. Whether it's random kids at the park, other dogs at dog parks, or even the vet and groomers. Stan thinks everyone is his friend. However, if he's super wound up, he will sometimes antagonize other dogs into play fight. Mostly just my parents dog though. But everything else is right on point.
I had 2 for ten years. My remaining little guy is a cranky old man in a fur coat but still prances and does bunny hops on walks. I have had Eskies and Shelties and they are both great breeds❤️❤️❤️
We have a toy size,, and she is our faithful companion, more like a baby! We got her for my depression and anxiety, and she helped tremendously! Two months before my husband was diagnosed with bladder cancer, Lilly switched to him and slept curled up around his abdomen. All is well now, but those two have a special bond that cannot be broken! We love her so much, and she feels the same! Lilly is a great traveler, and she goes with us everywhere in our vehicles and RV. She gets a lot of attention from other people, and they all want a picture of her.
I Love my Eskie. We go for 5 mile walks which is great for both of us .we do trail walking and if their is a pond he is the first in it..he lives people and other animals..we go to dog parks weather permitting and day care 2 times a wk to play with his buddy's . He will only listen to me...a lot of people try to tell him to sit and he won't. But i just have to put my hand up and he will sit...he plays with his brother( a cat ) very funny. .i groom him myself except for his nails.. I get them ground every 4 to 5 wks. He gets brushed every other day to look handsome He has days he barks a lot but i tell him no bark abd he gets quiet.. I just love him...he is 16 months old and a loving beauty...the only dog i ever want❤🌹p..s he is so intuitive he knows when i do not feel well and stays by my side... Best dog ever.
They're wonderful dogs I've had two one miniature and one standard Benny and rocket I miss them dearly I might get another one once you own one you won't want a different kind of dog there's so much fun bring a lot of laughter and joy into your home.
My Eskie is about to be 8yrs old and boy is she still full of so much energy like a puppy. Surprises me because I know they are to slow down by age 6 or so…not mine! Still young at heart. I didn’t get her as a puppy, so it was very hard to train her. I got her when she was 9mos old, previous owner did not train her at all. I still have some issues with barking but overall she is an amazing dog. She is my first, and debating if I would like to get another one. Esp a puppy so I can fully train them. Don’t get me wrong Kalisse is very well trained, minus barking, loves to talk back, and play play play! And loves car rides and walks. Thank you for this video. Very helpful and insightful!
Aww I have an Eskie that looks just like yours, same size and everything! I thought he was a Pomeranian when I first got him but then he just kept growing (he was a rehome). Just found your channel and subscribing...also I love how minimal and clean your thumbnails are.
I've had to American Eskimos one miniature that live to be 14 he was very healthy he would have live longer only he got bit by a black widow spider and it was in the grass I never would have thought there would have been a spider in the grass my second one was a standard he only live to be 10 he got cancerous tumors which was unusual but his grandmother died from cancer at 10 also so may have been genetic but I definitely want to get another one they are the best dogs they love you more than themselves and you love them with all your heart
My wife and I have a 1 1/2 year old Eskie named Nala. I don’t want any other breed besides an Eskie and was really against a dog until we got Nala as a puppy. Smart, loyal, obedient, and loving. My wife and I like to camp, hike, and kayak, Nala goes with us and participates in any and all activities. She’s active and ask others have commented barks at anything or anyone entering her area who she doesn’t know. She’s apprehensive to meet others at first, but then becomes their best friend. She does shed a ton, but brushing her once a day really helps. If you’re on the fence about getting a dog or it’s your first dog like me, go with the Eskie.
Love our Eskie (Nyda)! The video info is spot on. Ours hasn't "blown" her coat yet at 8 months. Crazy quick dog. Would be great with 5-18 year old kids playing in a fenced yard. Ours didn't see a ton of little children so when she does she freaks out a bit. Great with tricks but does demand your time through out the day and I mean demands. Hilarious vocalizations and mouth movements when she wants something. Our Eskie also can be very cautious when encountering something new in the environment. It is a watch dog for sure. Might be a problem if you live on a busy street with a lot of pedestrian traffic plus big windows and do not address the barking early. Ours is OK with vehicles but people and other animals will be told loudly she is the boss of her domain. If a person gets within 2 feet of her (and she cannot retreat further) she will roll over on her back in submission. Our Eskie will occasionally nip at our heels when she gets excited and is trailing us. Nothing painful just noticeable. High prey drive. I read quite a bit on the breed before getting her and no where did it say it had a high prey drive. If we didn't have her on a stake and lead she would tear after a squirrel or chipmunk until the ends of the earth. Miniatures are small enough that a coyote will a concern if you let your mini Eskie roam free in a fenceless yard. Beautiful, loving, energetic, entertaining, and easily trained, . . .wonderful breed.
I am super glad I watched this video. Very informative than other resources I've come across. My Eski will be 3 in June and she is the biggest Mama's girl. I literally can't go anywhere without her being there by my side. She's loyal and listens. She just really hates my dad and I can't break her off that. I've tried and tried. She does however adore her grandmother, my mom and I are just alike and she loves her so much. Eskis are not bad dogs, they just have a level of understanding that needs to be established. My boxer pushes her buttons everyday and he's a year younger than her. But they can't get separated because of their bond with each other. They go ballistic when apart. It's almost sad and funny at the same time.
I'm so glad I discovered your channel! I have a 6 year old eskie named Kuro (I thought it would be an amusing misnomer) who I also got at around 10 weeks old. Interesting enough, Kuro also doesn't seem to like larger dogs. He'll freeze and/or growl at them if they get too close but he's never had any traumatic experiences growing up. He couldn't care less about smaller dogs barking at him though and is quicker to warm up. Makes me wonder how much of that is due to nature vs nurture. Regardless, I loved your video and can't wait to see more of your vids. :)
@emwng I have a miniature Eskie-thanks for the useful info. If it’s not any trouble, will you share how I might train my puppy to growl instead of bark, please?
My family had Aussies most of the time but we did have a couple Eskies for a while. I really liked the breed and am contemplating one again. Its been a long time since ive had a dog though.
I have an American Eskimo who is 6 months old. He was my first dog and he really made having a new dog look easy by being so efficient at things. It only took him less than 10 minutes to master sit, and without a treat. I discovered that my Eski really adore praises (like mentioned in the video) and if I wanted to teach him something or if he did something good and I didn't have a treat with me, I could just praise him. There are three things that are bad about him; One; He shed ALOT (there's even his fur in our food, our microwave, and our cooking pan!) Two; He talks with me and is just like Husky (He will whine-bark at us and will just like talk, and if we say something back, he will whine-bark again. He never gets tired) Three; He is way too cute (sometimes when he does something bad or wants to leave his cage, he gives me those puppy eyes and I melt immediately)
Do you think an American Eskimo would get along good with a Papillion? I'm thinking of getting both breeds in the future. I just lost my little 12lb American Eskimo mix a month ago now. Right now I can't but maybe next year. And only female dogs...
I just love my Eski he is 3yrs old and can run like the wind. He loves everyone and all other animals . He is very beautiful with his long hair and wings on his front legs, training is an everyday process . He gets brushed at least twice a day I wouldn't change a thing ❤
I lost my American eskimo 15 years ago… I miss the same as the day I lost her… She was 17 when she passed… full of love, life, fierceness and crazy smart… everything you want in a partner in life♥️ Dogs have to be in Heaven, it’s not Heaven without them🙏🏻
When my Eskie mix passed, it was the first time in decades that I had even considered "a heaven". It's almost a year now, and I am struck by how painful of a loss it was. She was such an angel so now I do think there is a heaven as corny as that sounds.
@@Here4TheHeckOfIt There is a Heaven and our girls are waiting for us❤️ sitting there looking pretty…. And sighing with their head on their paws looking down when they see us sad….wishing they could snuggle up next to us and make us feel better❤️
@@ruthkosic5264 Thank you for your kindness! Eskies are special aren't they? I've noticed the ones that passed - no matter the amount of time - are greatly missed. I feel much better knowing I'm not the only one who feels like this. I couldn't believe how painful it was 😢 💔
@Ruth Kosic I'm so sorry! I wish your dog was still here with you physically. And I do believe she is still with you in spirit. If it's any consolation, it appears a lot of Eskie folks feel the same way. I'm so amazed how many times I've read how their Eskies were their absolute best dogs, how smart, how loving and how much they are still missed - even with the passage of time. I find so much comfort in this because mourning a dog is not treated with as much compassion. Gilda Radner says that for her, dogs are the role model for being alive. I'm convinced Eskies are spiritual in nature. They are friends of the world and love fully and without fear. I'm sure this is what you miss most about your girl who sounds very special, indeed. Perhaps she came into your life so you can know that you are like her as well - full of love and life, fierce and wise. With that kind of heart, in a world like the one we live in, how can you not miss that? Take care of yourself because I know she would want that for you.
I lost my Siberian husky/American Eskimo on January 13th 2023 (Friday the 13th) a family member let her out and forgot to put her back in and close the gate prior to leaving and did not inform me. My dog was hit by a truck. Months later i went and got another dog to help me get over my lost, that was a mistake. Do not get another dog only to get over a lost of your prior dog. Especially if you didn't give yourself enough time to cope and move on. I still think about my girl and is reminded of how I could of been a better owner
I just wanted you to say that my mom bought home a little 8 month old American Eskimo puppy from a good friend of hers. she had a boy and a girl 👧, she was selling them for 500.00 dollars, my mom bought the male for 150.00 . when she got him home I fell in love with him. That was 1983 ,we till 1992. He's not here anymore but I have a wonderful picture of him and mom outside the owners back yard. he loved playing with balls and my Dad had lots of different types of. His favorite was playing soccer ⚽ with me and love playing in the snow when winter came around. and a excellent in protecting our home. When strangers came to our house.
My Eskie rescue was the most loving and loyal dog I've ever had. I miss her so much. She had lived on the streets for a while, so was very wary of strangers. She could be a pain to other people not family 'pack' members; was very dominant, if she sensed someone was afraid of her, she would "bully" them, even our 250+ lb friend. Later in life, she went blind due to sudden acquired retinal degeneration syndrome (SARDS).
I have one and she growls all the time but doesn't bite. When I get home she is so excited and runs I circles Extremely fast and its not like I'm gone for a while I mean I could be gone for 20 minutes and she still is excited
I just got an Eskie and I have a little question about his shedding. If I brush him daily, would I find a big amount of fur around the house or just a few? What would you recommend me to do to decrease the amount of shedding?
Does anybody know some good puppies available right now? I’m starting to get a bit stressed over this, if anybody knows of any eskies available in Washington please let me know!
they are amazing!! funny and can be demanding at times you have to make sure they get plenty of exercise their energy level is unreal!! they get separation anxiety if left alone for to long. other than that nest dogs in the world!! i have a boy and a girl. oh and fyi they talk back when you tell them no and not to do something it's halarious 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤦♂️😊😂😭
My mini eski is my baby! I agree so much with your vid. Mine is so smart, so loving and very well behaved in doors. However she can be really aggressive/reactive toward strangers and other dogs. Any tips? I worry about socializing her more because I don’t trust that she won’t bite. I would love any suggestions
After looking into a pomeranian and pomsky, I think an eskie will be the best fit for my family ❤️ I'm having trouble finding a breeder on the west coast, any suggestions?
We just got a mini eskie a month ago, her name is Ghost and she is beyond precious. When we got her she already had tear stains. We are staying ontop of wiping her eyes down but I wonder if there's a specific product you suggest for tear stains ? I would also love to know what shampoo/conditioner you would suggest for our Eskie
The toy size, under 12” and never got over 11lbs. The are absolutely the best dog. Very athletic and fast and I mean very fast. . They are loving and loyal and love to play and talk. The down side is they shed in the early spring and fall but trim not shave the undercoat. It keeps them cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They are very intelligent and like people. Both ours lived health lives the first one lived until 12 the second until 15. I strongly suggest you make your own dog food. Boiled chicken with a mix of rice. They like to be clean and will do so naturally.
I've never had a dog before but am considering this breed. I love the look and size and most of its traits. However I'm worried it might be too much maintenance for a first-time owner. Thoughts?
how do you think elsie and samoyed cross would be; shedding and temperament? Less energetic? Am asking because I enjoyed your video and you seem to know the dogs very well.
Thanks for this I am planning on getting one of my own soon :) always have loved them and finally have the chance. I was curious on what you would recommend early on in order to avoid a dog barking at every little noise ? What can you do when they are a puppy to avoid that they bark at everything that is non threatening later on? Thank you !!! ♥️ your dog is beautiful
Every dog is different, but eskies are very sensitive companion dogs and we just used a strict “NO” when ours was a puppy and she understood barking was not allowed. Your tone and energy are very important when communicating with an eskie so being firm and direct from day one is essential. Kokoro aims to please so she avoids doing anything she knows we don’t like, including barking!
@@emwng My Eski is wonderful. He has never messed in the house or chewed anything up. But the barking...I think I have partial hearing loss. I've tried everything and just don't have the heart to use a bark collar.
This video is 100% true. The first part about panting made me laugh 😆 My standard size male never did that. My mini size female always pants. She is 15lbs and incredibly annoying hahaha but man she is cute. Let me tell ya'll something though. This breed CAN BE aggressive without proper socialization right away. I've had an aggressive Eskie and so did my friend. I was too young to train him at the time. The Eskie I have now is nice, yes, but she does bark at strangers coming to the house, and she does back away from people she doesn't know. She is stand-off-ish. Once she is comfortable, she is very kind. She doesn't like to snuggle, which is odd because my male Eskie did. She tends to get over excited, pees a bit on the floor and licks people too much. 🙃 This breed definitely learns from other dogs. She picked up my Aussie's habit of dropping food on the floor before eating it. I'd say this breed isn't for someone who never had a dog. They need a lot of attention and if you don't take charge, they will walk all over you 😅 You have to establish that Master to Dog relationship off the bat. Keep their eyes clean to avoid ugly brown tear stains. Watch what they put in their mouths. They tend to eat everything they find. They do not dry fast and snow clumps on their fur so prepare for wet messes and lots of brushing. Like she said, never shave them. Other than that, if they have enough entertainment, stimulation, socialization and love, they do pretty good. 🥰 Oh, and yeah, you can train them quickly. I'd make sure to meet the parents of the puppies first. That part is huge. They tend to be just like their parents so you'll know what to expect. Other dogs tend to bully Eskies a lot and that's frustrating. I don't know why but that's been by experience every time I've had an Eskie. Maybe the fluff is tempting? I don't know.
@@emwng yeah. Although they're adorable, I also want to live in a warm area and have a few other animals as well. I may reconsider and move to a cooler place

We lost 2 last year. I have had 5 eskies. The longest lived 17 years.

Glad you had 16 beautiful years with your eskie!
Mine went on for almost 16 and I have no regrets on letting her go nor for the years I have spent with her😁
That seems about the age they go. Mine got lung cancer and was having trouble breathing. Awesome dog, loved to please me and I loved her too.

I agree on being sensitive. When he started losing his bladder control, I put a doggy diaper on him.
I had a purple ribbon purebred eskie. He was house trained in 12 hours.
I loved my Eskie.. His name was Max. He was so attached to me.. very obedient , very smart .. I miss him so much ..
My dog is half but this Al 100% describes his personality. Thanks for teaching us more about the breed! I had figured a lot out getting to know my dog, but it’s interesting to know that all his quirks are breed characteristics.
This AI??? This is not a real human doing this video?
I have an eskie too - she’s about to turn 4yrs old and her name is Yuki and you’re so correct with everything! Yuki is my first eskie and I just love her. She is my emotional support dog too and she’s really great at it!
Lol yuki means snow in japanese
I had an Eskie mini every thing you said is right on.My dog was always very much like a puppy. She lost her sight at 15 but got along pretty well, she was my constant companion, she lived to 18+ I let her go 2 days ago.The BEST dog ever.
Funny my Eskie is named Yuki as well.
I have been so impressed by my eskie since she was a puppy. I could tell right away she was different from other breeds I have had. It took one day for her to learn several things which she just seemed to remember later on. Can't stress my love enough for this breed. Great info on these wonderful companions
Thank you! I’m so in love with her personality and friendly temperament. This information was very helpful.
I had mine for almost 17 years ! He was my bed bud !
I have a Pom and Eskimo seems so awesome for an addition to the family! Yours is so cute 🙂 Thank you for all the info!
I miss both of them terribly.
we had three female they where great dogs we loved them all
I just got an Eskie yesterday and it’s pretty hyper but it’s fun.
lucky my parents would never:
what the name of the website ? for the American eskimo puppy
I lost my Eskimo a couple of days ago at 14 years old. Best dog ever and would recommend for active people
Great video I have an standard Eskimo mix and is handsome. I started training when he was 5 years old and a lot people told me he can’t do it but he did and he is great. He loves ❄️
Mine loves snow too! It's hilarious to watch him prancing around when it snows. I wonder if they all like the snow?
Spot on! I adopted an Eskie puppy this summer. 😅 love him to bits. He keeps me very active.
4:07. My Eskie does the same thing. He's so cute when he yawns.
Eskie yawns are the cutest! What's your pup's name?
@@emwng Jake. Yeah pretty much everything they do is cute.
Check out my blog post on how to find a reputable corgi breeder for your next pup 💖
emwng He is 4.5 years old now! And he’s a miniature :) I will definitely check out your post, thank you!!
Everything you said is true. They are not the type of dog you ignore. Very interactive dogs.
🤣 barks when he hears a flea fart! Yep, that's mine too! He's a booger but I love him.
My Eskie (mini) is my heart and the sweetest dog I've ever had.
He gets brushed every other day to look handsome
He has days he barks a lot but i tell him no bark abd he gets quiet..
I just love him...he is 16 months old and a loving beauty...the only dog i ever want❤🌹p..s he is so intuitive he knows when i do not feel well and stays by my side...
Best dog ever.
All of this is totally spot-on with my doge who's only 75% Eski (25% Chihuahua). Pretty much fits into all your points. Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed our video.
@emwng I have a miniature Eskie-thanks for the useful info. If it’s not any trouble, will you share how I might train my puppy to growl instead of bark, please?
My Casper passed away at 17 years ol he worked as a service dog a amazing 15 years the vet was shocked how well he took to it and kept him healthy
I had a beautiful American Eskimo dog about 7 years back. They are such an incredible breed. Check out the breed as they are so worth it.
Yes my eskie barks a lot! It was so hard when my son was a baby but she’s not as loud anymore but still she barks at any noise .
Aw does your eskie talk to you too? Or just barking? Ours likes to growl to speak! haha
emwng she’s talks too yes mostly when she’s excited! She’s very vocal in general lol
my eskie was a great watch dog. she would put her paws up on the window sill and growl and bark at whoever passed by our house.
and she was pretty vocal too
Eskimo Dog is related to the Samoyed. They share the Nordic Breed of Dogs(AKC). Thanks. 🔥🥂🕶️🍟
Loved the video!! Kokoro is so cute being next to you being quiet. I am interested in the episode you compare American Eskimo vs. Corgi!
Thanks so much! I love that and will definitely make a video about that :)
@@emwng I also interested to see such episode with comparison of two breeds. Thank you 😊
@@Лязка-н3ь It's coming in the next couple of weeks! :)
My family had Aussies most of the time but we did have a couple Eskies for a while. I really liked the breed and am contemplating one again. Its been a long time since ive had a dog though.
I have an Eski, I love him so much! He is as you describe. My beautiful boy!!
Just got my first dog and she is an eskimo ❤
Extremely informative. One of the best dog review videos out there.
I love my Eskimo so much. He’s such a baby. So spoiled and always want my attention. I love mine. Sleeps next to me. Stubborn but super loyal
Apparently they're a great starter dog, As I want a husky but never had a dog before I want a dog that is great to learn for as a starter dog.
Great overview. I really like that it was from personal experience. Where do you get a eskie?
Do you think an American Eskimo would get along good with a Papillion? I'm thinking of getting both breeds in the future. I just lost my little 12lb American Eskimo mix a month ago now. Right now I can't but maybe next year. And only female dogs...
I just love my Eski he is 3yrs old and can run like the wind. He loves everyone and all other animals . He is very beautiful with his long hair and wings on his front legs, training is an everyday process . He gets brushed at least twice a day I wouldn't change a thing ❤
I would love to get another american eskim off or a keeshond. My cody boy was the best of both..
Hey, eskies are the best!! I have two puppies and I adore this breed. Really smart and fun!
Thank you! Am thinking about getting 1 and that was very informative!
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching
You’ll love them!!
I couldn't believe how painful it was 😢 💔
@@Here4TheHeckOfIt It is still so painful and she passed may 2007… I start to cry when I talk about her♥️
she was my Soul Mate.
What do you all feed your American Eskimo. Dry food/wet food/ fresh? If dry kibble which brand?
Been researching this breed. Now I need one
Absolutely get one! They are amazing, beautiful, lovable and smart!
Did you get one?
Hey I am in Cali as well and was looking for a good breeder. May I have the info for yours?
I lost my Siberian husky/American Eskimo on January 13th 2023 (Friday the 13th) a family member let her out and forgot to put her back in and close the gate prior to leaving and did not inform me. My dog was hit by a truck. Months later i went and got another dog to help me get over my lost, that was a mistake. Do not get another dog only to get over a lost of your prior dog. Especially if you didn't give yourself enough time to cope and move on. I still think about my girl and is reminded of how I could of been a better owner
I have an AE. Best dog if you make him socially and give him plenty if exercise minimum 1 hour a day.
I have an Eskimo rescue pup and she’s the best!!
Thank you very much for this video. As a future Eskie parent, I've got some really useful pointers.
I’ve had 3 eskies!!! They’re the best!
How do I teach my two months old eski where to pee and where not to pee 🥺
Hi! My Eskie turns 1 next month :) his name is Mellow!
Where can I get a standard size American Eskimo puppy ?
I’m gonna be a first time-owner, and I plan on getting a miniature American Eskimo, likely a male... Do any of you have any warnings/tips?
they are amazing!! funny and can be demanding at times you have to make sure they get plenty of exercise their energy level is unreal!! they get separation anxiety if left alone for to long. other than that nest dogs in the world!! i have a boy and a girl. oh and fyi they talk back when you tell them no and not to do something it's halarious 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤦♂️😊😂😭
Yes, the talking back is true, lol. When I correct mine, she does talk back to me.🤣
I have a mix American Eskimo and corgi dog 😍 all those videos are awesome
My mini eski is my baby! I agree so much with your vid. Mine is so smart, so loving and very well behaved in doors. However she can be really aggressive/reactive toward strangers and other dogs. Any tips? I worry about socializing her more because I don’t trust that she won’t bite. I would love any suggestions
After looking into a pomeranian and pomsky, I think an eskie will be the best fit for my family ❤️ I'm having trouble finding a breeder on the west coast, any suggestions?
I would start with the American Eskimo Dog Club of America (AEDCA) - they have a list of reputable breeders on their website!
Do eskie need leashes? Or can they walk without one, depending on location
Yes they need leashes unless you have trained them not to run away.
I had Sugar (female) one for 11 years and wish I could find another one that isn't expensive.
Search “American Eskimo Dog” for rescue groups and check for strays on Petfinder.
Found a breeder in Missouri selling pups for $750
We just got a mini eskie a month ago, her name is Ghost and she is beyond precious. When we got her she already had tear stains. We are staying ontop of wiping her eyes down but I wonder if there's a specific product you suggest for tear stains ? I would also love to know what shampoo/conditioner you would suggest for our Eskie
Very sweet dogs . Mine Barks way to much . And stubborn. Overall a great family dog
We have an American Eskimo and two Pembroke Corgis
how long would it take to get one
The toy size, under 12” and never got over 11lbs. The are absolutely the best dog. Very athletic and fast and I mean very fast. . They are loving and loyal and love to play and talk. The down side is they shed in the early spring and fall but trim not shave the undercoat. It keeps them cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They are very intelligent and like people. Both ours lived health lives the first one lived until 12 the second until 15. I strongly suggest you make your own dog food. Boiled chicken with a mix of rice. They like to be clean and will do so naturally.
I just got mine yesterday 6/06/2024
Do they drool a lot?
my Elsa is a Eskie and looking at your vid help me more to understand her 🖤🦊
I've never had a dog before but am considering this breed. I love the look and size and most of its traits. However I'm worried it might be too much maintenance for a first-time owner. Thoughts?
Very low maintenance
how do you think elsie and samoyed cross would be; shedding and temperament? Less energetic? Am asking because I enjoyed your video and you seem to know the dogs very well.
I would stick with 100 percent Eskie or you lose some intelligence. Samoyeds seem stupid next to Eskimo’s
Great in-depth video. Where can I adopt or purchase one? Been looking and doing research on one.
i love eskies. i used have an eskie in my younger days
My american eskimo's name was elsie and we had her for 7 years. unfortunately, she passed away due to kidney issues
I miss my bubbie Jasmine. She was an amazing Eski
I'm so glad I found this video. I know a few things about American Eskimos but hearing info from an owner is very helpful. Thank you so much^^
So glad it was helpful! Have you decided for or against one after hearing our thoughts? haha
@@emwng yeah. Although they're adorable, I also want to live in a warm area and have a few other animals as well. I may reconsider and move to a cooler place
Eskies ARE EXCELLENT!
