@@loftus4453 My daughter was bitten by a golden when she was around 10 years old, unprovoked. Our family also had a golden many years ago and although he had very sweet moments most of the time, he was aggressive towards some people and he was socialized. I still like the breed but I can kinda see why other breeds rank higher. JMO in my experiences.
I think that because the Border is so well known for their intelligence in herding and also for being the best agility breed that people don't recognise their innate loyalty and kindness. My boy just turned 6 the other day and he's the 4th Border I've owned amongst other breeds. For me personally no other dog breed even comes close and I will always have one as long as I have my health.
@@bordercollie1140 innate loyalty and kindness is perfectly worded! Working with them in professional capacities they're tenacious, not just intelligent but strategic, athletic, and born leaders. They're also incredibly gentle and loving, and their loyalty is underrated. I have a female AmStaff mix (one of the three pitbull breeds) and my parents have a male Border Collie, and their first few interactions were love/hate. We learned during a squabble that they're equally strong, athletic, and determined, but more than that they thoroughly enjoy chasing rodents together. My dog isn't much for loyalty, but she is demandingly and at times overwhelmingly friendly and affectionate. Their Border Collie has the same disposition, but a very gentle approach. Having spent the equivalent of at least a year in and out of hospitals with medication resistant neurological disorders, I was visited by Newfies and Goldens working as therapy animals, and I feel very strongly that a Border Collie would excel in such an environment.
I once shared a cramped mountain hut with 12 people to shelter from bad weather. One couple had a nice, friendly, MASSIVE St. Bernard. Inexplicably in the middle of the night, it would get up and paw at one of the other occupants of our cabin and wake him up. This occurred several times. It turned out that he had sleep apnea and the dog got concerned when his breathing stopped. Amazing instinct.
I met a woman with a Corgie (I think) medical dog. She explained that something or another would lower something in her body, but her body would not inform her until it reached critical levels. The dog was trained to detect the imbalance early, and would bark to notify her. I didn't understand the condition or whatever that she had, but I was amazed, totally amazed, that her dog could pick up the imbalance early, and bark to let her know to take whatever pills she required. Must be some subtle change in muscle structure, or movement, or heartbeat, or something?
@@judiheath8766 --- Could be. They say "animals can sense fear" but they can apparently sense a lot more than that, including things about another being's body state! How much we do not know ...!
I can’t believe you left out Golden Retrievers! The kindest, most loyal breed I’ve ever owned. Growing up, I had an Afghan Hound, Cocker Spaniel, and a Malamute. As an adult, we have Shelties (also, VERY loyal, and smart) Black Labs and Golden Retrievers. My kids have had Poms, Boxers, Aussies, etc. And hands down, out of ALL these breeds, it’s our Goldens that are the kindest and most loyal.
Yup I have a golden and I love how kind she is when ever she sees someone she starts whining because she want to play with them and sometimes she even pees her self from excitement when they pet her🥰
I know these are all great breeds but I've mostly had mixed breed dogs growing up. I did finally get a Boxer and he was the most fun dog ever. I adore that breed!
I always rescue whatever dog needs a home. My current rescue was owner surrendered and after I got her-once a dog is in my home they do not leave-I found out why. She HATES other dogs. I walk her three or four times a day but I have to be careful where I walk. I’m 84 and do not want to fall. But she’s my baby, sleeps with me every night, and I love her so much.
@@Pyotaro What's not to like ? Any domestic animal can make a pet.... My late cat Tiger was the perfect "watchdog". We 'd go forest hiking together. No leash though. My dad had a pet pig and a pet ram. Horses would lie down so he could groom them, when he was only four. I like two legged creatures as well. Birds. I like to hand feed them. Sparrows, crows, wild geese, swans, seagulls... Love from Norway
I’m on Samoyed 6-7 in 50+ years. I got a Sammy in College. I fell in love with the breed, kind, loving & intelligent. I’ve had two Sammys live to 15+ years. I like having two close in age. All my Sammys developed a large vocabulary- picked up common words, so I often use words & hand signals to train. I couldn’t live without this breed. ❤
I rescued my 1st Samoyed in 1998 while in Las Vegas. I came home a winner. I converted breeds I say pure sugar no calories. They need a job & Happy if that job is to love you. I've had 15. 7 right now. My own team. ❤😊🎉 Peanut is at the beach right now with friends for 3 weeks. I'm envious.
Yeah, but some dogs, such as large guard dog breeds, need wayyy more training & socialization. Large, active breeds are always going to have more potential for aggression, fear & power struggles with their owners, if not exercised & socialized properly & consistently.
I rescued a Samoyed from a lonely life consigned to a roof top, being slung a few bread rolls a day and no contact with anyone at alll. Every word said here about them I support, he's the loveliest kindest dog I've ever had.
One of my college housemates had one of these. It killed my cat, my girlfriend's cat and the little old lady next door had her ancient poodle ripped right out of her arms and killed by it. I stopped it killing another cat in the house. Most vicious dog I ever knew about.
@@booboo8577 Either it wasn't a Samoyed, or it was a very very rare one with something wrong with it. They are notorious for being friendly, gentle and trustworthy, as they were carefully bred to be by the Somoyedi people who use them as babysitters. I find what you say to be highly unlikely I'm afraid.
@@booboo8577 probably not a Samoyed... I currently own three with a litter on the way and there all rescuse and not a visious bone in their body. they were used to babysit children as one of their main jobs. Had three other adults dogs and a litter of seven last year plus know countless other owners... the closest to agression I have seen is a standoffish one that dose not care about other people and atention and that is even rare for the dog.... There are a few breeds that look like this dog... was them or that dog was in a lot of pain / seriouly abused.... I'm not joking when I say I have never had a kinder gentaler dogs then the Samoyed.. ours loves babys and awlays kisses them most arctic breeds like the Samoyed were bread to sleep with humans at night also to keep them warm... looking after children etc... not a trait that would be normal at all..
@@Megan_Fiorilla I, get confused about two distinct breads. Eskimo Spitz and the Samoyd Dogs. They both look alike. My family had a Eskimo Spitz Dog? Samoyd Dog, and THAT Dog was the very BEST, BEST Dog ever. Very good watch Dog, very loyal and faithful, ya just couldn't ask for any better of a Dog than Fritizie, shecwas the very top of the list. I now have a little Sheltie Collie Dog, and right now, she's sleeping next to my bed. Now that little girl of mine wonder go in the house, she does all of that outside as she let's ya know when she has to go to the bathroom. She's the very best thing that ever happened in my life today and I love her, very, very much. She's my only friend.
@@booboo8577 Your statement is the antithesis of the Samoyed. It most likely was not a purebred Samoyed (or a rare aberrant untrained dog not raised or acclimated to cats. ) Other dogs are oft confused with Samoyeds, like American Eskimos - smaller pointed snout, who can be snippy, or White Chows - who can have disposition problems. I’m on 6-7 Sams in 50+ years. I got my first in college. I’m routinely around the breed at events for Northern Breed dogs. Samoyeds were bred in upper Siberia - traits bred for included close human companionship, (ie “3 dog night”) intelligent as working dogs - reindeer herders, sled pullers, family protectors, etc. Aggressive traits in close contact with humans was not a trait of this ancient breed. I have a 5 pound Persian cat (10 years old) raised with my Sammy seniors who died not long ago & added my current two Sams. My prior Sams had a Maine Coon cat, as well as our Persian kitten - no harm. The cat was part of the pack in each instance. It sounds like whoever owned the “dog” did not acclimate the “dog.” One of my boys is a rescue, he was never around cats & the other a puppy raised with the cat. I acclimated our rescue to our Persian over 6 months. Now - the cat is a pack member who sleeps & drinks water with the boys. General dog information- Cats can be viewed as prey by dogs if not raised around the dog or around dogs. But, as I’ve shown - slow introduction can change that. But, that may not be possible with some breeds. My dogs & cat have unsupervised run of our home. I trust Samoyeds with children, other dogs, & have never had one attack another animal or person. It’s not their personality- look at the breed standard or look at Samoyed group posts. Children routinely come up to play with my dogs at parks. They pull their fur, and can be rough with them. Never once have my Sammys acted aggressive toward a child or baby or other dog - intelligence, kindness - they are perfect family dogs. All my Sammys are/were “reactive” to aggressive dogs or people - not inclined toward initial aggression.
I have 2 Border Collies- purebred and yes they are as smart as they say!!!!! Loads of comedy, endless communication and terrific company. They figure things out including me. I love them like my kids! I have had 6 border collies over the years. The first 3 lived to 15 years 4th- 16 years. The latest are 3 and 4 years respectively. I expect them to be around for many more years. Can't imagine life without them! They absolutely love the grandkids. So sweet.
Goldens are the kindest, therapy and companion dog. It’s a well known fact. This video isn’t accurate at all. Farm girl, dog loving, enthusisist here. This video is BS. ❤
I agree. My family has raised Goldens for about 25 years. There are other dogs they forgot as well. And they shouldn’t link them with labs as they are different on many levels.
We've had three. They are wonderful and kind. Should have made the list. I told my dog, Murphy, that goldens are probably number one. Very disappointing.
We have had a border collie for two years. She’s the most sensitive sweet dog we’ve ever had. She does like to run and we try to walk her every day. She absolutely loves her little brother chihuahua
I have a 4 year old border collie and she is my fourth one. They are the greatest dogs to own if you understand their nature and can handle their needs. She is the sweetest dog I have ever owned and lived with and loves people.
Oh you can't possibly not have mentioned Golden Retrievers!! They are the absolute kindest, most loving, gentle dogs...and I've had 5 different breeds, but my Golden was just something else. 🥰 I was pregnant and he would put his head on my womb at nights. And when my son was born, my Golden was so gentle and attentive to him. As my son grew into toddlerhood, my Golden was so patient with his antics and just so protective and loving. I've had 3 dogs since my Golden passed and I love all dogs, but my Golden Retriever was just something else. I miss him every day.
Top nine, so I guess as sweet as golden's are, there are 9 kinder breeds. We had a Golden and lost him to cancer when he was a little over 12 1/2 yrs old in 2011. He was my soul dog and we had an amazing connection and I still cry thinking about him. But I will say, he was not nice to everyone and he was well socialized. I loved him so much, but I have to be honest. My daughter was also bitten by a Golden years ago and it was unprovoked according to her and others in the room.
@@Guesswho_coco Most dogs will jump on people when they're excited unless you work very hard to train it out of them. To them it's a friendly gesture, not aggressive.
We reciently lost our Chloe a German Shepard of 15 years. She was a rescue from a high kill facility. Over her years she was a wonderful caring companion, Couch potato and guard dog. She loved dressing up for special occasions like Christmas and Halloween. At Halloween she would sit with us in the yard to pass out candy to all the children. I will miss her forever.
"She loved dressing up for special occasions like Christmas and Halloween." It's wrong to think that animals "like to be dressed up". No dog likes to be dressed up as it's against their nature, it's not normal for them. They do so because they don't have a choice or say in what you do to or with them, they just obey or oblige to your commands or wishes. Humans on the other hand, love to dress up for different occasions. Dogs will do a lot of things to please their owners, even if they can't tell you they don't like it.
We have 2 german shepard mixes. One is a rescue and a lot like your Chloe. She is a couch potato (enjoying having a couch of her own) and very attached to us. She is afraid of strangers but not fear aggressive. She is weird as she gets excited when we rarely dress her (dives her head into clothes). I think she connects looking cute in clothes with slightly more attention. Our other gsd-mix thinks that every new person and animal he meets is his new best friend.
I heard this Will Rogers quote: "I don't know if dogs go to Heaven, but I want to go where they go." If I'm around Golden Retrievers I'll know I made it to the right place.
The most calm friendly dog is Hank. He was a an all white yellow Labrador. (Blond) . He loved everyone and barked literally once per year. spent time in an assisted living home. Tail ran over by wheelchair he just looked sad. Best dog ever.
I have a Shih Tzu I adopted a yrs. Bridget is socialized, kind and loving. I am 77yrs. And she takes care of me! She adapts to my moods and needs communicates her needs to me when necessary. She is 7 yrs old now and just as playful as day one. We live in a condo and she loves to interact with my neighbors and their pets. Everybody knows Bridget by name!
mary ferguson, I have one also, at 66, living in Southeast Asia. In Chinese, the name translates to "little lion". There is a legend that Buddha owned one, and the two were out walking one evening, when they were set upon by robbers, looking to rob and kill Buddha. It is said that his dog transformed into a lion, chasing off the bandits, and saving Buddha's life! And while our dogs can't do that, they would if they could! Cheers!
I have a golden retriever, and this breed deserves the same acclaim you provided for Labs! My dog's best friend is a Labrador Retriever; they are as one soul.
Newfies are the greatest dogbreed on earth. Never thought I'd meet a dog that loved people more than my late Retriever, but Newfs are from another world. By far the most gentle, most intelligent, and caring dogs you'll ever come across. They're also more polite and respectful than half of the people you meet.
My first dog was a sheltie border collie mix the size of a sheltie! Two years my senior! Us kids listened to her she kept us out of danger as we bordered a woods! She herded us when my mom needed a hand so we were always under her protection! She always helped our kitten who in turn returned the favor as the dog recovered from a stroke in old age! She was one of the kindest dogs ive ever or ever will encounter!
We’ve owned Labs for years. Our current dog is a 115# Chocolate Lab. He’s our gentle Giant. He LOVES almost Everyone. We live 5 miles from town on a private road. We have neighbors who live at the end of the road and walk with their children to the school bus stop every morning. Joe (our dog) walks with the parents and kids to the bus stop. The school bus driver always lets Joe on the bus to say good morning to the kids, then they tell Joe to get off the bus so he can walk back home with our neighbors. Once they get to our house he runs up onto our covered deck and lays down. He goes hiking with neighbors as well.
How could you not include the Rough Collie, like Lassie ?! I've had four of these wonderful dogs, over the years, and still have one of them now. You can't beat a Collie. They ARE 'Lassie' in every way that matters. :)
It appears the answer is that everyone believes their dog is the kindest. That's the magic of dogs and the strong bond we have with them. As was said so often, every dog is capable of being kind, if treated with kindness. Admittedly, some dogs have a calmer temperament, but that is not the same thing as kindness. We love them because they are ours and we are theirs.
I adopted my neighbor's under-appreciated English Mastiff. She was the most gentle, loving dog I've ever had. When she first entered my house and met my 20-year-old cat, she immediately accepted that this was the cat's home and she always deferred to him.
My girl (profile pic) is 50/50 border collie/blue heeler. Chill after 8.30PM but ready to do anything before then. And when it's play time holy poop its on.
My collie is anything but patient and absolutely convinced that everything belongs to him, especially my dinner. My Pyr is respectful, but not my collie. I've been working with him and he's much better than he was, and he's still awful!
@@kathyling-mullins If my dog got to the point where she would actively go for food I am eating (without it being offered) she would go to another room for a while. And every time she did it after she would go to another room, would hopefully catch on. My last girl Doberman/Blue Heeler did steal a sausage off my plate when I was eating in the living room. She made it half way across room before I could get out "FREEZE". She dropped it and just sat there like "What?": She was young and I was laughing my rear off, took it away and she got none of it. That's the rules.
Our Great Dane was the most calm, liked everyone, nothing bothered him, non-stressed, never jumped on anyone, huge, cuddle bud and humorous dog. He came through the same doggie door that our American Eskimo used. He stuck his big feet through then his head then his body then his back legs and feet. Laid down on the sofa like he had never questioned for a moment that he couldn’t do it. Well we had to adopt him. Or he adopted us. He was a pleasure. Nothing bothered him ever. He didn’t know he couldn’t fit on your lap. He just calmly made the best of it. We both had to make room.
Shih Tsu. She loves everyone. We call her "aggressively friendly". She is always happy.... except when I can't walk her as she loves to go for walks. Kids love her as she is so soft, doesn't shed, and looks like a bit like a Teddy Bear. Love her, cannot imagine life without her.
What we reveal here is that kindness, empathy and love are not reserved for just one dog breed alone. Dogs with the good fortune to grow up in households where they are truly loved, spoken to kindly, and cherished, ensures, also, that they will feel safe. Good for all of us who have known and celebrated such love! I'm sure we will all do our best to keep the memories of our furry companions alive and, also, to help protect animals that have not known family love.
Our two cockers were female. One rescue. One purchased from a trusted friend. Late one was so sweet and kind. Rescue only wanted love. Sweetest pups ever. Love the so much.
I was just going to add Shetland sheepdogs! They are amazing dogs: sweet, loyal, and incredibly smart. I showed them in Obedience, and finally switched to Sheltie specialties because they beat everyone else! They are tremendous dogs!
I have two Cavaliers and of all the different dog breeds I have owned throughout my life I can honestly say that if I had a Cavalier as my first dog I would never have any other breed. My boys are so loving and make my life complete.
Surprise to me I've had labs, golden retrievers and they are great but recently a rescue that's 55% Strafford terrier, lab, spaniel and other. 39lb female and she is the most absolutely loving I've had 50 years. Hands down. Sometimes rescues are really a diamond in the ruff. Lol
"Sometimes rescues are really a diamond in the ruff." Like humans, no dogs are born with bad intentions or behaviors. It's their owners(for dogs) who mistreat them that brings out their bad side, no fault of their own as they're just reacting to the action/s towards them.
I had a Pitbull and he was the nicest, good natured, loyal dog i have ever had. He passed away almost 2 years ago and miss him everyday. They have a bad rap BECAUSE of there owners who want them to be mean and protect. Its sad because the shelters are overloaded with Pits that people dont want to adopt because they think they are all bad, it really sad.
I volunteer at an animal shelter. We get a lot of pit bull/mixes. They tend to be so sweet and loving. Pitties have become my favorite breed. They're fabulous pets. Bad rap due to a handful of assholes that train them to be fighters. Very sad indeed.
The problem is, every pit owner says that after they finally attack a person or animal. There are sweet pits, but not enough of them to get a sweet reputation., and won't for a while.
Shelties are smart and as active as you want them to be. They often have big dog personalities in a small package. My male has never had an accident in the home. He is doing well at age 12 and follows me all over as his job.
A Sheltie was our very first dog after getting married back in 1987. Bandit was the most sweet boy But he was protective of our daughter when she was born and he did not let anyone near her. He was extremely smart. Well behaved beyond belief! Held a grudge sometimes though, he got mad at us when we traveled without him and would look me straight in the eye when we got home and would poop right in front of me LOL The biggest compliment I could give Bandit is that he was a master's dog. Not leash trained because he didn't have a leash as he always walked by our side and never ran off, and that was not trained it was just the way he was. I still miss him, my beautiful boy.
I had a Golden Retriever who was constant companion. He was my guides dog I miss him dearly. He could see his gentle loving soul through his big brown eyes. You should add the Golden Retriever to this list.
My neighbor has had flat coated retrievers,I've never seen such a friendly dog. One had a puppy hang onto his tail,he just ran around trying getting puppy off his tail,he didn't even growl at the puppy.
We rescued a dog from a very sad life in Galicia and wow a fantastic loving friendly dog he is. He is a Basque Shepherd. Wow he is my shadow. He was needing space & time to develop into the dog he has become as he was so shut down from his previous life. Loads of love care and he is the best fella ever. We love our fella to bits.
Oh, so wonderful. To let him be the dog he was meant to be! I have never seen a basque Shepard! So many breeds of dogs supposed to be developed to help us, now in a different way...to develop our humility!
"He was needing space & time to develop into the dog he has become as he was so shut down from his previous life." Sounds like a poorly mistreated dog. In the right environment with love and care, any dog can live to their fullest.
You may want to read a book called "El Lobo" It is about a basque Shepherd who adopted a tourist couple. The Basque Shepherd are related to the Australian Shepherd as their Basque human owners went to Australia to herd sheep down under. During the "Gold Rush" in California, sheep were imported to feed the miners and the dogs and humans came with the sheep. Since they came from Australia, they were renamed Australian Shepherds. They also have some English Shepherd bloodlines as well. I would say both those breeds are excellent pets for physically active people who interact with their dogs.
I have a Lhas Apso and she is the best friend I have ever had. True to their form, she only barks when someone is near the door. A very calm, sensitive, intelligent and kind breed and so easy to live with.
I love all breeds of dogs. Pure breeds and mixed breeds. But I have 2 German Shepherds and I would say that they are in my opinion the best breed of dog in the world. Trusting, loving and loyal. Love my dogs.
I have 3 German Shepards (ages 5yrs, 3 yrs and 1 year old). I grew up with them. I’ve had mixed breeds, Labs & Border Collies. I love them all. German Shepards are very trustworthy. One of the Border Collies (my ex’s dog) was very nervous. I didn’t raise him like I did with my other animals. I give GSD’s a 10/10 for versatility. Oh, except, I can’t put them in my purse. 🤷♀️

As a child growing up, we've had a beagle, two Dobermans and a basset hound. Now since I'm with my husband, we have a Border Collie and an English Lab. Both dogs are as sweet and kind as can be. We couldn't ask for anything more.
An English Lab? Never heard of that breed, where did you find that one? I know back home in the UK, there's a ridiculous amount of new breeds, such as Labanies, Beagadors...I heard Foxadors too...
Definitely would add Goldens to the list because they are special in so many ways. Pugs and beagles are.both wonderful breeds. I would also love to see pitbulls on the list one day - I had one who was the sweetest, most loving dog anyone could ask for. It is time so many people should stop thinking they are dangerous dogs, because people are the ones who make them mean.
@@stephanevu-hoang1014 "English" lab is a way of denoting the show type, whereas "American" lab denotes the field type, but both are purebred Labrador Retrievers. The English are stockier and more placid requiring less exercise amd stimulation.
My Boston Terrier has always been my "favorite little meanie".. For those in who have never had a Boston Terrier in their lives: They're clever, quick little roughhousers who seem to think they're Pitbulls.. Even in her teens our Boston doesn't give the impressions she's slowed down any. We can see she has, because we know her very, very well.. People are always amazed by how old she actually is. Bostons are *very* hard on toys (no,.. really) and they don't get tired of things easily. Destroying toys is their go to comfort. Then my husband was diagnosed with cancer.. As he got more frail she's become gentler and really careful with him.. She still roughhouses with everyone else, but she lets my husband win, and clearly modifies how much she pulls and how heavily she shakes her head tugging etc. and shows the kind of careful behavior I never would have thought her capable of.. and it's clearly deliberate. Sometimes she will bring him literally all the toys she has, one by one and put them on the bed with him. She snuggles up, grooms etc. (And of course loves to be "clean up on isle four when food gets spilled lol!).. there is a gentleness to her I've seen her react that way towards a scared young dog we puppy-sat for a night or two as well. The moment she realized the other little dog was *scared* she started crawling on her belly, bringing toys, literally trying to stuff them into the other doggie's mouth, and bring mouthfuls of kibble and drop it in front of the pup. (Normally she will grab a towel or a sock, or a pillow etc. and drag it over to her kibble to "hide" it under a pile of items that are *totally* inconspicuous.. (and then guard it with her little life, "definitely nothing to see here, get away from my random pile, definitely no snacks under there, nope! Now GO.AWAY!") She's never gone without, but it seems to make her happy to make little stashes like that. Her bringing food *to you* is unusual for her.. but she does it. With the scared dog though, she deliberately *gave* her food, she brought it to the doggie.. and toys too, and she even grabbed a blanket and pulled it over the pupper. "I'll protect you!" Style. They were playing together in no time. Like: "Here! See? I'm not scary. Have a snack, now let's play with toys!!! Play with me! Grrr! (Don't be scared! I'm faking! I'll totally let you win!) 🥰 She cares.. and it is absolutely amazing to see.. Golden retrievers are gentle sweet dogs. My first dog was a Golden, and she was amazing! They are gentle and sweet with everyone all of the time and love being that way. My Boston is *kind* because she understands empathy. She will *change her behavior deliberately* to make *you* more comfortable.. and that is kind of astonishing to me...
Yes Golden Retrievers first ! I have never seen such gentle caring affectionate creatures as Goldies. I have always had Jack Russells, huge dogs in tiny bodies, can be a terror but oh so loving and smart. If I could I would have a goldie but as I get older I have less energy and strength so a smaller dog suits me. I lost mine so now have none, feels wrong.
My Pyrenean mountain dog is a brilliant family protector. She will always comfort me when I'm feeling down as I'm terminally ill. She is so big but eloquent and spoons me in bed. We have 9 dogs and all have their own way with the family. The Transylvanian hound, we rescued from Croatia and he was severely abused, but he's OK when things are calm.
Rough Collies SHOULD be on this list. My RC was the kindest, sweetest, gentlest dog I have ever had. My cocker spaniel even though he is loved and spoiled rotten, is ornery with the cats.
@@susanm7925 Rough Collie, is the collie in the "Lassie" movies. The long fur. Very smart, very gentle, good family dog & herds, like the Border collie & other shepherd dogs.
12 years working at a veterinarian's office and having dealt with several thousand dogs, I would consider myself a moderate expert on the temperament of the bulk of breeds. The kindest dogs tend to be the bigger dogs with a couple notable exceptions. I've seen 5 King Charles spaniels (medium/small dog) and they've always been eager to please. Samoyed is one of the sweetest dogs ever and they tend to love anyone and everything so i'll agree with that one. I've never met a mean golden retriever or Australian Shepard. Aussies tend to only listen to their master though so if you've got one bonded to you, you've got a good dog for their entire life. The groomer where I worked had an aussie that was so smart that she learned commands in 4 different languages and even hand commands. Took me about a year and a half before she finally started listening to me a little bit so I could take her out for a potty break.
Yes, Cavalier Spaniels are the sweetest small dogs, hands down. Goldens are tied with them for most affectionate. I did meet one unbalanced Golden that attacked another dog, but his owner was a complete basket case, sadly I don't think he was trained or socialized at all.
I’ve met a mean Golden Retriever. Nasty dog lunged at me when I was walking to get my coonhound inside. I don’t care about the circumstances either; it was in my yard when it lunged at me.
I had a Border Collie mix growing up, she was the best dog I ever had, she would walk by my side when I'd be outside, she was so gentle and soft, but also feisty when the need arose. She only ever bit another dog once and that was because it was charging at my sister, and she just bit it on the leg. She was a good dog and I hope I'll see her when I pass one day
I had a Border Collie-Greyhound mix that I trained to as my mobility service dog. He was smart as a whip and had boundless energy. Pepper has been for nearly 8 years and I still miss him. I haven't had a dog like him, in temperament, energy, or smarts.
Schipperkes are great companions too. They are a one family or one person dog. They are very very loyal to that family or person. Back in the 1800s they were used as rodent control on ships and also known as captains mate. They were about 18 inches high and range from 18 to 20 pounds. Look them up and see what you think .
You are so right! Back in 2006 I adopted a 1 year old Schipperke from a rescue. I adopted him for a companion for my mom. He was a fantastic dog; full of personality. Mom had lots of travel adventures with him and he was my mom's very best friend until she passed away. My brother took on his care after that, and he became like a child to him until he passed away at 16 years of age. We all miss him a lot and my brother hopes to get another one in the future.
My Bernese mountain dog has been the best breed I have ever owned! Affectionate, loves children and comical. After owning other breeds I’m sold. Not only are their temperaments wonderful they are absolutely beautiful

YES I AGREE 100%💝💝💝💝

💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯 I have had many Golden's and they are the BEST
Had a border collie for 10 years. I couldn't have had a better friend. Intelligent, kind, loyal.
Wow , great story !

I have never had a Golden and know they should be top of the list for kindness.
@@sdgakatbk that's a golden for ya 😂
Yes. Shelties are so loyal and protective of their families.❤
I’m 44 and just got my first Basset 2.5 years ago. She is the best dog I’ve ever had. I love her so much
Love a Bassett hound! Just darling little stubborn things! ❤

A Samoyed saved an older woman I knew who had fallen into her pool.
Sammys are lovely, sweet, and playful; always eating something I regret later. They are absolutely lap dogs and bedwarmers! Love them.
I rescued my 1st Samoyed in 1998 while in Las Vegas. I came home a winner. I converted breeds

Almost any dog can be the kindest. Depends on how you raise and treat it.
some dogs are just naturally less nippy tho, mostly bigger dogs are more relaxed and dont get pissed off at stuff
Not chili dogs. They’re brutal.
Yupp
Yeah, but some dogs, such as large guard dog breeds, need wayyy more training & socialization. Large, active breeds are always going to have more potential for aggression, fear & power struggles with their owners, if not exercised & socialized properly & consistently.
Not really. Dogs are just like humans. They can have faults from birth. But that's not usually the case.
It sounds like whoever owned the “dog” did not acclimate the “dog.”
One of my boys is a rescue, he was never around cats & the other a puppy raised with the cat.
So sweet.
Golden retrievers are at the top of my list as kindest, most loyal and devoted dogs out there. I am surprised they didn’t make your list.😮
Goldens are the kindest, therapy and companion dog. It’s a well known fact. This video isn’t accurate at all. Farm girl, dog loving, enthusisist here. This video is BS. ❤
I think the video links Golden's in with labs.
Goldens are the absolute best!!
I know of Retrievers who bite. Again, it all depends on training.

Chloe sounds like a true treasure and a friend to everyone. I am so sorry that you lost her. She obviously adored you.
"She loved dressing up for special occasions like Christmas and Halloween."
It's wrong to think that animals "like to be dressed up".

Too many humans want to show off with their dog, as if they were in a Circus!
So sorry for your loss
We have 2 german shepard mixes. One is a rescue and a lot like your Chloe. She is a couch potato (enjoying having a couch of her own) and very attached to us. She is afraid of strangers but not fear aggressive. She is weird as she gets excited when we rarely dress her (dives her head into clothes). I think she connects looking cute in clothes with slightly more attention. Our other gsd-mix thinks that every new person and animal he meets is his new best friend.
We’ve had Labs, Goldens and Shepherds. I love them all but Goldens are the absolute best!

I love my border collie so loyal, kind and loving. She never leaves my side 😊

My last girl Doberman/Blue Heeler did steal a sausage off my plate when I was eating in the living room. She made it half way across room before I could get out "FREEZE".
I give my Border Collie A1+ for smarts & adventure, but not as friendly as other dog breeds I've known. I adore my BC & take her everywhere.
Shih Tsu. She loves everyone. We call her "aggressively friendly". She is always happy.... except when I can't walk her as she loves to go for walks. Kids love her as she is so soft, doesn't shed, and looks like a bit like a Teddy Bear. Love her, cannot imagine life without her.
My late Cocker, was the kindest dog I've ever known, even in her last hour at the vets she got up to calm a frightened puppy that came in.
Cockers are THE best!

What we reveal here is that kindness, empathy and love are not reserved for just one dog breed alone. Dogs with the good fortune to grow up in households where they are truly loved, spoken to kindly, and cherished, ensures, also, that they will feel safe.

Great turnaround, so happy for all.
"He was needing space & time to develop into the dog he has become as he was so shut down from his previous life."
Sounds like a poorly mistreated dog.
German Shepherds are simply the best.
@@bluekiwi1239 I must say that I agree with you 100% that German Shepherds are beyond the shadow of a doubt the best pure bred dog on the market. Have a great day and God bless.
I totally agree with you. Along with the Rottie
@@lisalefleur2977 I must say that a Rottweiler is a beautiful species of dog. Never had a Rott. But have been around a few and they are very intelligent.
I have a pug and she is amazing. She’s now 11 years old. Had her since she was a weeeee little puppy. Happy days all these years. Definitely my best friend for life
As a child growing up, we've had a beagle, two Dobermans and a basset hound. Now since I'm with my husband, we have a Border Collie and an English Lab. Both dogs are as sweet and kind as can be. We couldn't ask for anything more.
Borders are great for Agility competitions.
I have a Labrador and he is so sweet
I ment labradoodle
The Standard Poodle is kind, smart and loving.
Yes, they're mrvelous!
Also the king poodle
@@utejohn2131 Royal Poodle - Not official in USA but we had one. He was a great (big) dog.
border collie and great Pyrenees, she looks like a collie she is beautiful!
(And of course loves to be "clean up on isle four when food gets spilled lol!).. there is a gentleness to her
I've seen her react that way towards a scared young dog we puppy-sat for a night or two as well.
Now GO.AWAY!")
She's never gone without, but it seems to make her happy to make little stashes like that.
I'm faking! I'll totally let you win!) 🥰
She cares.. and it is absolutely amazing to see..
Boxer - - most loving, obedient, for family with children.
I’ve had many dogs over my lifetime, and the sweetest were my St Bernard and my Greyhound. Both rescues.
Yes!!!! I’ve had both, and you are 100% correct!!!
I own a golden doodle and her and all the others I have met are so sweet and caring
Rough Collies SHOULD be on this list. My RC was the kindest, sweetest, gentlest dog I have ever had. My cocker spaniel even though he is loved and spoiled rotten, is ornery with the cats.
@ Jill! YES!:))) Rough Collies ARE SO Overlooked:(! WONDERFUL, KIND, SMART DOGS!♥️♥️♥️🐾🐾♥️
I agree, had a RC now have a Border Collie. The RC was reliably friendly. My BC, not so much.
That is so funny about your spoiled cocker spaniel! But I have never heard of a "rough" collie. What type of breed is this?
@@Azinya that is SO interesting! I want to know more about Rough Collies.
@@susanm7925 Rough Collie, is the collie in the "Lassie" movies. The long fur. Very smart, very gentle, good family dog & herds, like the Border collie & other shepherd dogs.
How could you leave out the Caviller King Charles?!
But we all know that golden retrievers steal the show at the end of the day.
every labrador i know all are sweethearts and manageable even when they are not trained
I'm owned by my 4th Samoyed and can't imagine my life without one!
I have 2 huskies and there like my shadow. They follow me everywhere I go. They love watching tv
Golden retrievers most kindest. Hands down.
All of these dogs will be kind depending on how we treat & trained them. Thanks for he information.
I LOVE LABS💗💗💗
I have friends that couldn’t go swimming in their own pool without their Newfies jumping in to save them.
You forgot Golden Retrievers -- who live for their family's love.
My Bernese mountain dog has been the best breed I have ever owned! Affectionate, loves children and comical. After owning other breeds I’m sold. Not only are their temperaments wonderful they are absolutely beautiful
I am so glad someone said it. I was shocked that the Bernese Mountain Dog wasn't on the list. I love my big love bug!
I have a Yorkie/Bichon he is now 15 yrs old, although not very affectionate, they are very loyal and smart.
.
We have mostly had golden retrievers. They should be near the top of your list for this criteria.
I have a mini mountain doodle. He's 7 months old.
I had a Border Collie & a Beagle.
Havanese, awesome breed very suitable for apartment living, love children
Newfoundland dog the best friend you will ever have.
That is our experience too. She loved the cold climate here in Finland and just loved all people and also all animals!
The way that Newfie played dead when the Pom was getting sassy!
Who else loves the golden retrievers they are kind they are the 1st in my kind and love list they’re cute too and huskies are the second in my love list because I love all dogs it doesn’t matter how it looks❤
