I disagree with u on the Yorkie as far as it making the list and a shih tzu not because I been around tons of Yorkies that shed but shih tzu doesn't shed at all. U might find dog hair if they get long and have a skin allergy and one comes out while they r scratching
@@mamacitadelosperros533 They we’re specifically bred to be a non-shedding dog so they do fit with the narrative of the video even if they aren’t a breed recognized by AKC yet
@@sessysess4045 with any mixed breed you cannot guarantee that they will not shed. They may shed, they may not. The only way to know for sure is to get a pure bred dog.
I 100 percent agree with you that is why I got mine for a service dog . I had to get a dog for my seizures and she has been great for the most part .I do get shots but nothing like being around other dogs !!
I feel ya. I've had at least 1 Shih Tzu since 1976. They don't shed and are hypoallergenic as well. They are such a popular breed I can't believe they were left out either...
I have a 6 year old Shit-Tzu and she never smells at all. Sheds only from her tail a bit if not clipped short. She never barks and loves everyone she sees. Greatest dog and we love her very much. This breed should be on your list.
I had a Bichon, Elby such a sweetie. He was. 14yo, been gone 5 yr I d love another. I think of all my poodles the Bichon is the better of breeds. Miss him
I had two and they never smelled and did not shed. They were the best babies in the world. Needless to say, I was heartbroken when they passed so many years ago - and still am.❤
I have a big red & white Basenji named Luke. Luke is a rescue dog that was returned to the shelter several times because he was very stuborn and previous adopters had tried to beat the stuborness out of him which of course didn't work and only made him scared and aggressive. He was 2 yrs old when I got him just days before he was to be put down. Luke is a mix breed Basenji and he looks and acts exactly like a pure bred Basenji in every detail but he weighs in at a muscular 115lbs. We have been together for about 10 years now and I am so glad that I took the chance adopting him. I've had 4 other rescues in my adult life and Luke is very special to me and me to him. With a lot of love and trust his early aggressive traits are long gone and we are best buds. We do most everything together and when I have to leave him at home he sits and looks out the window until I get back and always meets me at the door. Luke never smells but he does shed during the spring in Florida. Luke is very quiet and does not or can not bark but he does talk to me when he has something to say. We live on a small farm and Luke rules the property. He is also the seargent at arms at my business and goes to work with me every day.
I now only have 1 Bichon. A rescue. 10 years old. He's the friendliest dog in the neighborhood. Just lost his Bichon brother of 13 years. He loved me so much and I miss him dearly.
I have a Toy Poodle that has been partially paralyzed on his hind end for 5 years. He has had a heart problem for the last six months and more health issues. He Is 11 years old, and he definitely rules our household. Lol!😃 We love him so much!♥️
The schnauzer! The Schnauzer does not shed! Extremely intelligent. Loves people loves children. AC to train. Sometimes a little bit on the stubborn side only sometimes. Excellent watchdog very loving dedicated dog
They should have included the schnauzer instead of a doodle. Doodles are not non shedding or hypoallergenic. They are mutts and you never know how they’ll turn out. I have one and she got too much lab so ended up in a rescue
Schnauzers are also great family members. I was a little surprised you didn't have them as a top breed. They do NOT shed and they are extremely smart. They are also GREAT watch dogs. Mine had a trail all the way around our property making his rounds to make sure nothing tried to get in. He kept squirrels out of the yard (we had a log home and squirrels chew on them), groundhogs, chipmunks or people coming up the driveway. You KNEW when someone was coming. They want to be where you are. Mine was the most loyal dog and the smartest dog I have ever owned.
@@vgil1278 they do bark when people knock or ring door bell. They are very hyper once I learned to take them outside& let them run out all their aggression ( for lack of a better word ) once they would go to the faucet & drink a lot I could take them & put them in their bed & most the day they would sleep. I had a tea cup poodle many years ago & if I had to choose I’d have to stay with my schnauzers. The love & laughter they brought my husband & I was so deep . I miss my baby girl so much she was 11 I think when she died. We have a empty fur baby nest.
@@donnaryland9976 Our little old man barked a lot but made plenty of other interesting sounds too. You could have a real conversation with him. He was so funny. I miss the heck out of him.
@@RedwingInNH my baby girl used to sing with here daddy when we was at bluegrass festival! Everyone loved her & would ask my husband to do their song “ how much is that doggy in the window “ . I discovered sixteen years ago that poodles were a good choice for me personally. Having 5 poodles and poodle mixes at one time, these little toy and teacup sized dogs proved to be a joy to have and not hard to train. All but one of those very loved fur babies have passed on now, but I have a new toy poodle puppy who is carrying on the tradition of being my little "bestie." She's great!
I love the Basenji best. We had one show up many years ago, was lost- it was the BEST dog, ever; never was trouble, and mama cried when we finally learned that someone was looking for it and we had to return it to its family. She loved that dog, it was bright, happy, did not smell, cleaned itself more like a cat than a dog, and was not at all anxious.
Right on …I had one also.… Rico was the best dog …I loved him… we were camping in New Mexico and we found him by the side of the road..Yes …And he did clean himself like a cat..Bonus, they don’t bark .. they are the African Barkless dog …They make a type of yodeling sound.… Very unique
@@Eserr7856 they howl but not for long & usually if another dog howls first. Plus it's high pitch. They are so darn lovely, a hound dog from south Africa, they have a mind of their own & training them takes a little longer, but a great breed to have.
My best friend for almost 14 years was a havanese; he passed away in March of this year. I have a shih tzu and a shih Tzu Jack Russell mix. I love them of course but I sure miss my Havanese. He had liver issues for that cost me thousands to manage but he was so worth it.
I have a Maltese mix, she barks a good amount. We adopted her when she was 9 months old. She’s a very cute girl who doesn’t shed or stink. She is now 4 years old and living her happiest life.
I grew up with a toy poodle who was smart & easy to train. Years later I got a Bichon Frise who could be very stubborn & possessive. My short hair dachshund was a failed foster who was picked up as a stray. Great dog! We just acquired a 4lb Yorkie who is still a puppy at 1yr. Old. We are enjoying his personality, but still working on house training. Miss all my past pups.
Yes house training for Yorkies is problematic. I am really surprised that they included that dog in this video for people who want to keep their “apartment clean“. Yorkies are notoriously difficult to housebreak. Because they are smart, they would choose your carpet over outside when it’s raining or snowy for sure. Doesn’t matter how old they are. I would not recommend a Yorky to any apartment dweller

I agree with Basenjis being #1. I had a Basenji for 15 years. They shed their winter fur all at once. I’d sit outside in early spring and brush them until their winter fur all came off leaving it’s slightly shorter hair. It could all shed in one day. Then no shedding the rest of the year. They also lick themselves clean like a cat, including their dirty feet. They are exceptionally clean dogs.
Agree with the main part, but want to mention that If you put right clothes in right time+ do not add fish in their diet for tgeit whole life than your basenji won't shed about at all. They do not shed in the wildness, because there is no big temperature changes in the climate they are from, only wet season and dry season.
@@thaniamoore7353 well, if Basenjis are still rare in your country, than you're very lucky! In Russia and specifically in Moscow it's one of the most popular breeds and it's embarrassing ! There are a lot of Basenjis whose owners abandoned them, terrifying amount of bad breeders and the biggest/the most popular basenji breeder do not care about the quality of breed and the life of its dogs. I miss that times when basenji was a rare breed in Russia 😔
We got one of these number one dogs we call him Harley. He was given to us by a best friend. He has been a great blessing. He's a wonderful dog. We love, love, love him !
As a groomer… ALL DOGS SHED and SMELL. To a certain degree. And most dogs like the ones listed still have grooming and maintenance. Do proper research. All dogs have to be combed or brushed regularly. All dogs have to be bathed regularly. All dogs have different degrees of shed and maintenance based on breed and coat. Proper research and asking questions to those who are experienced will help you find the right pup for you. Even humans shed and smell. So asking dogs not to is sort of weird lol.
💯 Which is why I'll never buy a dog. Nasty inbred, unnaturally aggressive (compared to the animal kingdom), retarded, unstable mutants that can't groom themselves and are dependent on humans for literally every single thing (they "evolved" facial muscles in order to BEG better). I respect ALL animals, except the mutt. They shouldn't exist. We don't need them. Every "job" they have can be done by another trained animal, technology or a person.
My friend is a groomer and there’s SO many people who never brush their dogs hair… they’re so matted to the point it has to be shaved off. 🙁 some owners have the audacity to say not to cut the dogs hair or to leave it like that and just bathe them
@@lolowill7306 i think what they mean is that like have a schedule not regularly as in like every few days like i bathe mine every week bc she smells by then (small toy poodle) but usually they should get bathed 1wk-1month depending on their daily activities and how bad they smell or dirty :)
Great video My 15 year old rescue Shih Tzu is very old now and still doesn’t shed. He really doesn’t smell either unless he stays outside too long in the sun and then comes back inside. He’s wonderful 💜
Had a Basenji many year's ago. They definitely do not like being left alone! He would not bark but howel and wine loudly. As long as I or anyone really was around, he hardly made any noise at all. Overall a good dog. Very smart. High energy and liked to be active. I Loved him and he was cute.
@@jeanettejohnson7315 Like I said he would howel & wine. They have a voice box, but it limits them from barking like a normal dog. But mine howeled and wined and could whimper like any other dog. He also mad a hi pitched vibrating howel when he was a pup. They are barkless in the normal dog bark, but he could communicate just fine with other noises. Hope this helps.
We had a cocker spaniel, she lived to be 13 and was the smartest and best dog we had ever had. She loved children and she raised an abandoned kitten. She was the love of our lives.
Westies are adorable dogs that do not have a doggie odor or shed. We had one for 11 years and absolutely loved him. He was smart and observant and quickly got into the family routine/schedule.
I’m so glad I saw this comment here. I’ve had Westies my entire life (plus a Yorkie) and my sister has a Norwich Terrier. You would never know you had dogs in the house, and they’re hypoallergenic, which is perfect for me because I’m allergic to most breeds. ❤
I have a maltipoo ( part Maltese and part toy poodle). He is a perfect combination! Playful, no odor, nonshedding, happy, portable size, smart, friendly and loyal. Above all, he doesn’t bark unless he wants my attention.
FAVORITE: Seriously overlooked is the WIRE-HAIR FOX TERRIER. Having owned two (each for 15 years) over 30 years, I know them well. No shed, bark seldom but will if they sense problem, no odor, love their people, medium activity and play keeps them happy. They are smart and learn obedience well. I love their calico tri-colors and their elegant fur cuts and stance. I love them so much; I tell others, "They're a bit like having a monkey and a 2-year-old. They are so curious and playful. A fun pet.
I have a WHFT and I have to disagree on the no smell, he smells even 2-3 days after a professional groom. It’s the smelliest dog I have ever owned! My partner cannot smell him but he grew up with the breed and this is his 3rd so I think he is used to their odour. They are very smart, but they are very stubborn and not people focused when it comes to training. He wasn’t food driven his first 3 years so I found him difficult to engage but from 4y onwards he started being food driven so training him ended up a breeze after that and now he can do all the usual tricks plus ring a bell to let us know when he needs to potty. I do think you’re right in the way that it’s like having a very naughty monkey and a 2 year old! *Edited for a spelling mistake
The Coton du Tulear is an amazing companion. I’ve got two. Brother and sister. They are so sweet. Non shedding. Non smelling. Fun and playful. Love to settle down with you to nap. Good watch dogs! Sweet!!! Healthy! And love new adventures!!
Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. I had one that passed at 13 years of age and now a two-year-old. Don't shed at all, are very smart and active. Love my whettie.
I have a Yorkshire Terrier. She is so wonderful and loving. And full of personality and well behaved. Once a month bathing. Very protective of her home and fearless. Does not know her size.
Maltese!! I have had many Maltese over the years. I have also rehabilitated puppy mill survivors. Maltese have great love. Sometimes a little bit stubborn about training but consistency pays off. As I am typing I have 4 laying at my feet.
I feel for your loss. Our dogs died and after the latest King Charles Spaniel left us we had to choose to never get another dog because it hurts more than when our parents died. After all, who was always at the door happy to see you EVERY time?
For me, it’s all about the poodle…smartest dog ever! We have always had standards until recently, in retirement, and now we have a maltipoo. Just love her usually sweet disposition. Several friends have doodles and we just love them, too! No shedding…no smell…lots of grooming! 💕
I just adopted a standard poodle, my first poodle ever. I LOVE HER SO MUCH! She is 3 yrs old and was neglected by a breeder who left her in a crate all her life. I got and she didn’t know ANY commands like sit, etc, she didn’t know how to walk on a leash. She didn’t know how to play and be a dog! So very sad… She is now doing soooo much better. She has life, she prances with excitement, she’s always ready for her leash to take walks, she sits on command for her treats! Lol 😂 She loves to hug and get her hair brushed. Such a beautiful sweet living girl. I think I’m am now a standard poodle mommy for good!
I think all the hybrid poodle mixes are adorable. With what this video said about the Basenjis, it’d be very interesting to try a blend of them with the miniature poodle and see what kind of dog you would get. 😀
Had 2 Maltese sisters for 15 years. They are single coated, thus they have no undercoat to shed. They really did get along well with our cats. Although sisters, they had very distinct personalities.
I have two 14 year old Maltese Shih Tzus who are perfect little house dogs, very affectionate and are good company for each other when we’re at work. They love their daily walks and we take them to the dog groomers every six weeks. They don’t smell and don’t shed any dog hair. They’re great family members.

The bichon is a great pet for retired people or people that work from home. They are great with kids and are friendly with everybody!!! They can be very playful when they want to be but mostly like to chill so i would recommend getting one if you have a family were somebody someone is mostly home.
My bichons are 12 and 15 now and they still act like excitable puppies, a bit slower now and losing their sight and hearing. I love my bichons and they are very loving dogs.
I've had 3 Bichons. All 3 were wonderful companions. They don't shed all over just in small clumps. I had them all groomed to a puppy cut. They also didn't bark much. Most of the time they don't. First one was 12 pounds and the other two 22. Daily brushing keeps their coats in good shape between groomings. Rarely did I have to bathe them. They love to snuggle and want to be in bed and sitting in chair or sofa with you. Wonderful companion. They also aren't destructive. Miss mine.
We had a Coton De Tulear (the royal dog of Madagascar) after an in depth review of different breeds. Our dog was excellent for our family and continually entertained us, very intelligent and devoted to family. He lived to 14 and we still miss him today. Great video, thanks
I too have Coton and is now turning 13. had different breeds including Shitzu, Schnauzer, Poodle. And to be honest, Coton is the ONLY breed that has almost 0 odor + almost 0 shedding(everydog shed, but in here, i guess we're talking about them not falling off everywhere), and that's because of the unique fur Cotons have. But the fur requires extra extra care in return to 9 odor. I agree that all dogs have odor. Odor ranking of my dogs would be Schnauzer>>Shitzu>>Poodle>>Coton. But odor doesn't make the breed any less charming. And it never bothered me... lol
My Coton lived until she was almost 16. She was such a great dog, that I went back to my breeder and got a puppy from her next litter. She's a great dog, too. Friendly, lively and outgoing. Only problem is she's as dumb as dirt. Don't know if that's typical of the breed.
I enjoyed the video as it is very informative of these bread. Disappointed that the whippet did not make your top ten though. No odour ,little shedding ,great family pet who barks very little and easy adaptable to any type of living!
We have a west highland terrier. This one is thirteen years old. Our third one of this breed. McMurphy is more human that dog. He should be on your list. Smart and gentle and love kid. Doesn’t smell.
Basenji's are awesome. As long as you understand they consider you their pet they are simple to manage. Masters of escape and they love to play. If raised with a cat they get along but they are not afraid of anything.
This video is super important as it mentions for new owners. I had a 3 pound chi for 13 years. Was very surprised of the amount of shedding all year round. I live on a tropical island. Now i have a 4 pound maltese and it is marvelous. Very low maintenance specially on the rugs and furniture. I keep a puppy trim which helps him with the 95 degree and 70 % humidity. Great personality y very loving.
We lost our bichon earlier this year which hurts like hell. Now we have a schnoodle ugh. Non shedding schnauzer poodle mix. Very energetic. Jumps off the couch like batman. Tons of energy. Responds well to consistent training. Loves his big sister,pit/boxer mix.70lb. Angel. Calm, easy going, does have a unique odor, sheds lightly, but what a sweet Angel.😉
Glad to see the Basenji made the top of your list. We’ve had our Basenji for four years now and it’s true…they are odourless, barely shed (a little bit twice a year) and don’t bark. 🐕🙏 They’re also very sweet and sociable with guests and other dogs. Down side: they can be stubborn when walking (they hate water and rain). And our guy is food obsessed. 🥴
my basenji is a diva! and our forever 2yr old... she is kin to a sour patch kid candy- sour then sweet! love her to pieces but not sure that i'd tackle another one-
Ever since watching an old Disney movie about a young boy and a Basenji I immediately knew this was the dog breed for me. Had an opportunity to observe and interact with one for two weeks once; Intelligent, friendly, good with children. Shortly afterwards the owner approached me asking if I would be interested in adopting him. Sadly, my current situation wouldn’t permitted taking him, and I’ve regretted that decision. Purchasing this breed has a hefty price tag and I’ve never scene one as a rescue animal.

It's my top pick but a breeder warned us that they can destroy a couch if left alone &bored.. Since I don't want to put a dog in a cage 8h a day, I'm looking at other options..
I have Lhapso Apso's and consider them the best pick for the same reasons, not to mention highly intelligent. The only down side is they are so lovable, when they have puppies you will want to keep all of them.
@@adrianaserna3455 my babies had a litter in April and they were all adorable, lovable and smart. Unfortunately there was an epidemic of parvo in the area and five of the six puppies died. Dad was so loving , she gave birth to two babies and third go stuck so had to rush her to vet. While gone to vet dad cleaned up first two. He was very loving and protective of his babies. They were only three months old when they died, but gave us a lot of joy. The parents were so loving i figure letting them have another litter will help them to heal.
We lost her in Jan and then lost our Chihuahua /MinPin in mid July. He was a very special little guy also. He gave wonderful tight hugs with his cheek up tight next to your cheek. Showed so much expresión in his face when you spoke to him. He understood what you said in Spanish as well as English. He was such a loving little guy, and such a little stinker at times. Into everything he could stick his nose into.
The Labradoodle and poodle are my favorites. As an asthma sufferer, the poodle was good for me. I had a German Shephard once and had difficulty with the shedding and breathing problems.
This is good to know. I’ve been trying to isolate breeds. At first I thought I was only affected by golden retrievers, but family members have a Parsons jack russell terrier, and I feel it with him instantly. I’ve also felt it with pit bulls and definitely German shepherds. Recently a hound mix and what looked like a shepherd or Australian shepherd mix. I’m not sure about labs, but at this point I don’t know if it’s the dander from their skin or the pollen they bring in. Poodles, basenjis, and other dogs on this list are looking good right now. Im wondering if a heeler would be ok.
The Basengi is my most favorite breed. I had a Basengi/Chihuahua mixed breed that I adopted from a rescue shelter. I named him Schmegeggy because he was very intelligent. Schmegeggy did not smell, but he did shed a lot. BTW Schmegeggy was beautiful and wherever we went he was admired by all, upon which he absolutely thrived.
Never heard of a basengi before but is definitely now interested with no much of a barking issue. Sounds perfect for the type of dog I will looking for in the future
Min Pins are easy care with their smooth sleek coats and no odour. Can easily be groomed for gloss by stroking with the hand while cuddling one or in play.
@@loveanimals969 What the hell are you hallucinating about! Min pins are bred with great love, which the return many times over. So true, I had a Minature Schnauzer, best dog I ever had. I bought a Schnauzer, because they said if you have allergies this breed of dog is ok. She was smart, beautiful, loving and I miss her so much. I always felt she acted and behaved like a human, not a dog. I could start crying now because I miss her so much. If your thinking of getting a dog, this breed is great. Also great with children.🐾
They are smart for sure but not the most intelligent breed. Get a border collie or an Australian Shepherd if you want a really smart dog. Although a really smart dog isn’t always the best choice. They will outsmart you at every turn, and can be difficult to manage if they are left alone for long periods. I totally agree that they missed the mark by not including schnauzers on this list. I love the breed and agree that they make wonderful house pets. I adored my schnauzer and she was one of the best dogs I’ve ever owned.
I had a Bichon, 3 poodles, a schnauzer, and two Yorkshire Terriers, five Golden Retrievers. Our Beloved Bichon passed away in October 2021. She was 15. Our Soooo loved last poodle passed away 11/24/21 at 16. Our hearts couldn’t be more broken. They all were our children. I could not pick any of the small breeds as a favorite. And they never smelled nor shed. But as for a bigger dog, my beyond favorite are my Goldens. So unbelievably smart. All of them loved the small dogs. I could go on forever about our relationships with all of the pets. But that would have to be a book for each one. Too old to do that.
Salukis are originally bred to chase down -- get ready -- cheetahs! They are very lean, have stamina, and almost like they are put together from spare parts of a greyhound! But they have a long history in the Mid-East as hunters and racers, especially in ancient Egypt. They are loyal, protective, and require a modicum of exercise; you will witness this if they are turned loose in an open area. They vaguely resemble afghan hounds, but without the long luxurious coat....
Sad that greyhounds did not get a mention. They are friendly couch potatoes, require little to no grooming or bathing do not smell are often recommended to people with dog allergies and make greyt pets.
You missed the Havanese... No smell, no shedding. A hypoallergenic and very intelligent dog. Great with kids, highly intelligent and easy to train. They also do not bark constantly, and not hyper.
@Patrick Ryan what you do is...everytime the dog barks, for no reason...use a hand command( one you don't use for something else). Then gently hold the mouth closed and say eithe" quiet or no".Give it just one small treat and say " good boy or good girl. Repeat this every so often, or whenever there is consistent barking. Hope this helps. But they will bark when they hear an unwelcome noise outside, warning you of danger.
Agreed! All of the bichon breeds should be on this list, not just bichons and Maltese, but havanese, bolognese, and Cotons as well. They're all such loving and clean little dogs.
I fully agree with you. Wasn’t really into dogs until my daughters got me a havanese. So playful & intelligent. No shedding. Rarely barks. Loves going out.
We had a cockapoo for 18 years. She never shed and completely odour free. Bath her once a year unless she chased wild things and got into mud fight. It was very hard for us when she passed away. Still thinking about her.
I’ve had three Bichon Frisée, by far my most favorite. Our current Bichon (Paisley) goes to the salon every two weeks. He goes to the salon more than me!! 🤣😂🤣 Great video!! I love dogs!!
I love my bichons. I had three at one time, mama, papa, and baby. The baby is now 12 years old and mama has passed on. I do all my own grooming and it is labor intensive. They really do not shed, except when brushing.
The Bedlington Terriers are the most wonderful dogs ever, they are wonderful with other animals and children. I've three of various ages, who love m cat and pet pigs. Besides are so easy to train my respond to commands in three languages.
They are beautiful and the sweetest dogs ..theres really no need for all these cross breeds if people did Thier home work there are so many wonderful breeds to fit people's needs But they all seem to have to have this bragging right to have something unique..where I'd much rather have a lovely bred for purpose dog myself
You forgot the miniature schnauzer who does NOT SMELL OR SHED. I own one and those qualities were top in picking him. Very smart. Devoted to his family. Loving especially to care givers.
As a professional dog groomer I get what you’re trying to do here and telling people about dogs no matter what every dog smells its whether you maintain the dog or not regularly bathe it it’s kind of crazy that you say Labradoodles don’t shed and you never know what you’re going to get with the coat because it’s a mix breed. I definitely think that you should dig a little bit more for information about each breed before purchasing any of these breeds.
Lol. Yeah ALL dogs shed. Maybe alot sheds at a minimum but still sheds. I got a family member with a maltese and he sheds. Hell i shed from my mustache and beard!! Lol
@@Jmos40 yeah dogs that need their fur clip shed like people do and anyone whose had a GF with long hair can confirm that women's hair sheds like crazy lol. Dogs with seasonal coats shed more though. But reverse of that they need a little less bathing cus their fur stays cleaner for longer. Dogs who need clipping tend to have more issues with hygiene and matting unless you keep on top of it
Yes! And they are smart and easy to train love kids and other animals!! The mini schnauzers are about knee high tops and are just lil lovers!! So so soft. Just need groomer trims every 6 to 8 weeks:)
We have had 4 in our family and everyone of them smelled I would give my a bath first time outside he smelled horrible again they didn't shed very little but I took to vet he said they get yeast very bad he told me to Rinse him off with vinegar water after the bath and it put a big stop to it
Our Havanese Emma is a spazy smart little monkey I adore the heck out of her! We had a Golden Retriever (Charlotte) who passed on at 12 she was a sweetie but she stunk, she was perfectly healthy but always had a doggie odor to her. Emma has no smell, and doesn't shed as she has hair not fur, she does get matts if we let her hair get longer than 1". The one disadvantage of a Havanese is the barking...Emma barks at even seemingly invisible intruders. She gets along with our cats and they love chasing each other.
Same here. However, teacup Maltese dogs are very hard to find & are very expensive. I lost mine eight months ago & feel like I could never replace her . She was so special, she was born deaf but I trained her to go into a litter box within one week. She was truly my comfort and joy. ❤️😢
I have had many dogs, and the one Bichon Frise was the best family dog I have ever owned. The only negative was (as you said in the video) they despise being alone
I've Asthma and major allergy issues. I've had a Maltese for 6 months now, also by accident. I was babysitting him for my neighbor while she left for surgery and she unfortunately never returned. He was going to be sheltered and my heart started pounding with tears in my eyes I couldn't believe it, so i took him right on the spot, my allergies haven't acted up nor has my asthma except when the weather gets a little weird. Also, he's never been a barker even with his previous owner around he has never barked from the moment she got him, whether be it the other neighbors dogs barking, strangers, stuttle noises or thunderstorms he will never bark and he's a very happy pup. the only time he barks is when i ask him to speak then i would reward him, that's it. I did not plan to have a dog ever, not out of dislike I love them to bits I've just always thought I'm too lazy to be a dog owner. I told Panda his other momma is gone & had him say goodbye and i promised him i will love him as much for the rest of our lifes. He changed my life for the better ❤.
I had Maltese boys I would stay with quite often and they were wonderful and loving. I would have been like you if their mama had not returned. I don't think I could have let them go. I'm glad your little one and you are happy together.
Anyone using this list as a reference for deciding what dog to get, keep in mind that the smell of a dog is heavily affected by diet and hygiene. I've petsat dogs whe smelled horribly until their owner got them a better quality food, and It doesn't matter if the dog doesn't have much natural smell if it goes outside and rolls in something smelly.
They can be a liittle stubborn but not that difficult to housebreak... And Nicole..if they smell its because YOU are not giving them baths or keeping them clean.
Schnauzers are phenomenal dogs and now I own shih zu and they don’t shed and are hyper allergenic dogs. They love cats and people they need little exercise and are great dogs. They do need groomed often though.
@@TheBarkinFrog Only if you don't clean them or bathe them. Or maybe it is the food you give them. Commercial food has sometimes pieces of other dogs. Yeah, that is true.
@@sophiahuber4756 Absolutely. They're dogs. Dogs stink when they get dirty. Dogs with long fur get dirty faster than smooth coated dogs. Shih Tzus smell, just like every other breed of dog. The video is bullshit.

Lhasa Apso? They rarely bark , don't require exercise , and are loyal.
I disagree with u on the Yorkie as far as it making the list and a shih tzu not because I been around tons of Yorkies that shed but shih tzu doesn't shed at all. U might find dog hair if they get long and have a skin allergy and one comes out while they r scratching

No one
meeeeee
The Shih Tzu wasn't mentioned. I've have allergies and asthma and my shih tzu dog is perfectly ok for me. He is an amazing dog.
100% agree...have two sisters that are 13 and are clean, non-shedding, happy dogs
I didn’t know that a Shih Tzu was a dog breed.
I always thought it was a zoo without any animals🤣😄 !!
It is considered a dog breed
I have a 6 year old Shit-Tzu and she never smells at all. Sheds only from her tail a bit if not clipped short. She never barks and loves everyone she sees. Greatest dog and we love her very much. This breed should be on your list.
I own a Bichon Frise. No shedding, loyal, playful, smart and a joy to have around. He's 5 yrs old and Mama's Pretty Boy!💖
I had a Bichon, Elby such a sweetie. He was. 14yo, been gone 5 yr I d love another. I think of all my poodles the Bichon is the better of breeds. Miss him
My Bichon didn’t but my Pomeranian… oh my God!!!
That’s not a dog, that’s a mop.
I had my Bichon for 12 years. You were the best dog ever, Ziggy. I miss you so much.
I have a Mini Schnauzer. They don't shed or smell. Her sister did bark but she doesn't. She's a perfect small dog.
Indeed, Mini Schnauzer is a perfect small dog
I was wondering why they aren’t mentioned.
At 115 lbs. what is he mixed with?
I now only have 1 Bichon. A rescue. 10 years old. He's the friendliest dog in the neighborhood. Just lost his Bichon brother of 13 years. He loved me so much and I miss him dearly.
I owned a miniature poodle. 🐩. My Joseph lived for 16 1/2 years. He was a wonderful, intelligent, and funny. Poodles Rule!!!🐩🐩🐩🐩🐩❤️
Agreed 💯 they are the best !
Poodles are total awesomeness!!!
Poodles really are the best dogs. Mine died back on Nov 17, 2001. I still miss and think of him often. He was the best and super intelligent.
I have a Toy Poodle that has been partially paralyzed on his hind end for 5 years. He has had a heart problem for the last six months and more health issues. He
Is 11 years old, and he definitely rules our household. Lol!😃 We love him so much!♥️
16 year lucky and he was my world. Loved that poo poodle 🐩 ❤️
My parents have a Bichon-Poodle. He doesn't shed or smell. He's EXTRA affectionate and very loving. The whole extended family adores him.❤🥰
So, no stopping to get a good whiff @ the local fire hydrant, trees or other things??
Lol!
My parents as well , she is a feisty loving girl.
My bichon has terrible allergies and chews on her fur which causes her to stink and had to have allergy baths often but doesn’t shed
*has to have
The schnauzer! The Schnauzer does not shed! Extremely intelligent. Loves people loves children. AC to train. Sometimes a little bit on the stubborn side only sometimes. Excellent watchdog very loving dedicated dog
I love schnauzer
We have a schnauzer and confirm he is the most intelligent dog we have ever owned. He is adorable
They should have included the schnauzer instead of a doodle. Doodles are not non shedding or hypoallergenic. They are mutts and you never know how they’ll turn out. I have one and she got too much lab so ended up in a rescue
We have our second Bichon Frise. Amazing lovable dogs. Never sheds, no smell whatsoever. Perfect companion.
I loved my 2 schnauzers but grooming is very expensive for 2 . Sadly I lost both 2 yrs. apart to cancer.
I have known 3 Schnauzers and all 3 were relentless barkers.

I have a little Havanese who is the sweetest pup/dog ever! No smell or shedding! Some amount of grooming required… but soooooo worth it!
I just lost my Havanese who was 3 days shy of 20 yrs old! Hard to believe they did not make this list.
Yes me too I like basenji 2nd labradoodle
Right on …I had one also.… Rico was the best dog …I loved him… we were camping in New Mexico and we found him by the side of the road..Yes …And he did clean himself like a cat..Bonus, they don’t bark .. they are the African Barkless dog …They make a type of yodeling sound.… Very unique
Do they yodel or make noise if left alone?
@@Eserr7856 they howl but not for long & usually if another dog howls first. Plus it's high pitch. They are so darn lovely, a hound dog from south Africa, they have a mind of their own & training them takes a little longer, but a great breed to have.

You’ve overlooked the best dogs! The Havanese. No shedding, no smell, so smart and great companion. Havanese gets my vote!!

Maltese are sweet
Ikr? My brother had one named Mega but unfortunately he passed away.
I had a dachshund. She hardly ever shed or had an odor. Loved her so much!
Hello Susan 👋
How’re you doing today?
Love my Bichon Frise! The most gentle, quiet, and just a sweet dog! I plan to get another one!
Yorkie are notorious for being hard to train
😢❤❤
I have a half Westin and a half Bichon. She does not shed and is the smartest easiest dog I have ever had! Such a love!

Can a basenji be left alone during the day? Will it yodel alot or get noise complaints from neighbors?
Agree with the main part, but want to mention that If you put right clothes in right time+ do not add fish in their diet for tgeit whole life than your basenji won't shed about at all. They do not shed in the wildness, because there is no big temperature changes in the climate they are from, only wet season and dry season.
I’ve been wanting to adopt one for a while but they aren’t that popular in my region 🤨
🙁 some owners have the audacity to say not to cut the dogs hair or to leave it like that and just bathe them
I had a maltese that barely shed & “research” says that a dogs isnt suppose to bathe reqularly, but hey 🤷🏽♀️
@@lolowill7306 i think what they mean is that like have a schedule not regularly as in like every few days like i bathe mine every week bc she smells by then (small toy poodle) but usually they should get bathed 1wk-1month depending on their daily activities and how bad they smell or dirty :)
exactly! you dont want a dog that sheds and smells? get a stuffed toy.
Great video
My 15 year old rescue Shih Tzu is very old now and still doesn’t shed. He really doesn’t smell either unless he stays outside too long in the sun and then comes back inside. He’s wonderful 💜
Same here, my dog doesn't smell until she gets wet, but it doesn't last long and shedding isn't an issue at all.

Had a Basenji many year's ago. They definitely do not like being left alone! He would not bark but howel and wine loudly. As long as I or anyone really was around, he hardly made any noise at all. Overall a good dog. Very smart. High energy and liked to be active. I Loved him and he was cute.
Ummm... Basenjis are barkless dogs.
@@jeanettejohnson7315 They don’t necessarily bark but are not completely mute. They communicate with a yodel-like sound known as the baroo.

We raised Bichons and Maltesss for years. Best dogs I’ve ever seen with kids. Very friendly and affectionate. Want to be with you all the time.

@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
Yorkie. Our babygirl was with us 13 years. Never imagined how she would change our lives. To say she is missed..no words.
I feel for your loss. Our dogs died and after the latest King Charles Spaniel left us we had to choose to never get another dog because it hurts more than when our parents died. After all, who was always at the door happy to see you EVERY time?
I grew up with a Basenji...they are also very
protective and very loyal....but they can be runners!! Love them!!
That’s was nice, how are you doing today
Lol 😂
She loves to hug and get her hair brushed. Such a beautiful sweet living girl. I think I’m am now a standard poodle mommy for good!
Agree 100% I do have Maltepoo she is 8 years old now and still great.
I think all the hybrid poodle mixes are adorable. With what this video said about the Basenjis, it’d be very interesting to try a blend of them with the miniature poodle and see what kind of dog you would get. 😀
Actually Border Collies are the smartest dog breeds of all time!!! And that's a well known FACT!!!
@@yesimdaphne1 bravo...its so nice to hear when responsible people take over, and give a dog the life it deserves...

I have a Maltese too and he’s my baby. Doesn’t smell and doesn’t shed but has a big attitude 😂
Who had ?
I have two 14 year old Maltese Shih Tzus who are perfect little house dogs, very affectionate and are good company for each other when we’re at work. So true. You and me both. Love my schnauzer! Best in the world to me..❤❤💞☺

The bichon is a great pet for retired people or people that work from home. They are great with kids and are friendly with everybody!!! They can be very playful when they want to be but mostly like to chill so i would recommend getting one if you have a family were somebody someone is mostly home.
My last dog was a Bichon. He was such a joy to have.
My bichons are 12 and 15 now and they still act like excitable puppies, a bit slower now and losing their sight and hearing. I love my bichons and they are very loving dogs.
I have never heard of a basenji until now. How beautiful they are. 🥰
Miss mine.
It would be nice to find a human that doesn't shed or smell

We had a Coton De Tulear (the royal dog of Madagascar) after an in depth review of different breeds. Our dog was excellent for our family and continually entertained us, very intelligent and devoted to family. He lived to 14 and we still miss him today. Great video, thanks
We had one as well. Amazing dog. Sadly, she passed at the age of 10. Loved our Coton!
@@SimpleLifeLoves sorry to hear your dog died. We were lucky our dog lasted to 14 years. Wishing you a happy 20222

The Havanese are amazing dogs with human-like hair and don’t smell; also an awesome choice for people with dog allergies.
True, havanese is a sweet breed. Thanks for watching we really appreciate it. Please Subscribe to our channel and share
Havanese are the perfect dog
I have a Chorkie (Chihuahua and Yorkie mix). She is VERY clean, no smell and absolutely minimal shedding. She is a delight.
We have a male Chorkie he’s very affectionate but barks when he wants to go for walks!
K.S. you have my condolences. It's a terrible thing to go through.😢
🤣🤣🤣 @ jumps off couch like batman
Glad to see the Basenji made the top of your list. We’ve had our Basenji for four years now and it’s true…they are odourless, barely shed (a little bit twice a year) and don’t bark. 🐕🙏
They’re also very sweet and sociable with guests and other dogs.
Down side: they can be stubborn when walking (they hate water and rain). And our guy is food obsessed. 🥴
Shouldn't the Basenji be at the top of ALL lists?
steve
my basenji is a diva! and our forever 2yr old... she is kin to a sour patch kid candy- sour then sweet! love her to pieces but not sure that i'd tackle another one-
Ever since watching an old Disney movie about a young boy and a Basenji I immediately knew this was the dog breed for me.
Is an Amazing breed
Do you mean the movie “benji”?
@@idiot2232 the movie is, “Good-bye, My Lady” a 1956 Disney featuring a Basenji. There were additional replies to my comment, but they seem to have been deleted.
It's my top pick but a breeder warned us that they can destroy a couch if left alone &bored.. Since I don't want to put a dog in a cage 8h a day, I'm looking at other options..
I HAVE A TERRIER YORKIE MIXED AND SHE'S SO SMART,SHE MY COMFORT PUP.

I had one years ago and she was so intelligent. I miss her.
@@AmazingDogs y 6
Mine is very cute and sweet but her breath doesn't smell good
I have Lhapso Apso's and consider them the best pick for the same reasons, not to mention highly intelligent. The only down side is they are so lovable, when they have puppies you will want to keep all of them.
I have a female Lhasas Apso and I agree with you.
@@adrianaserna3455 my babies had a litter in April and they were all adorable, lovable and smart. Unfortunately there was an epidemic of parvo in the area and five of the six puppies died. Now have mom, dad and one baby left. When she goes into heat this cycle plan to not let her get pregnant as give her a chance to rest and let them breed again next time.
I had mine 14 yrs. She was just a little sweetie.
@@coachAnita1 We had two that each lived for 22 years. All gave us a lot of joy and love. Losing them is like losing a child.
The schnauzer is always overlooked. Non shedding, hypoallergenic, loyal and smart. Excellent companion.
The Labradoodle and poodle are my favorites. As an asthma sufferer, the poodle was good for me. I had a German Shephard once and had difficulty with the shedding and breathing problems.
Wow German Shepherd that’s dog sounds awesome
The Labradoodle is a mix..so yes, they can shed as it is half a Labrador and they do shed..it is not a breed!
Aww, we have a Yorkie at my house and he's super sweet, loving, loyal, and very smart and he wouldn't change that for anything 🙂😊😍💜💙!!
It's an Amazing breed, Thanks for commenting we really appreciate it. Please share Subscribe to our channel
Love the Maltese for a small dog, and the Labradoole for medium dog.
Hello Claudette
I absolutely love the Maltese! Also the Poodle! Love all dogs! These two are very sweet & easy to care for.
Must have been complicated to call in the dog park lol
freedom amazing that a lot of people got it, especially when they met him because he was very smart.
But it is spelled Basenji
@@suebrubaker6182 yes, oh yes! My bad! I thought it was wrong, but I just couldn't put my finger on it. Thanks. I do miss my Schmegeggy immensely.
I've been blessed with 2 healthy Min Pins.
No smell and virtually no shedding.
Very maintenance free dogs.
Maintenance free? Should dogs be cruelly bred to be maintenance free?
NO!!!!!!!!!!!
Min Pins are easy care with their smooth sleek coats and no odour. Can easily be groomed for gloss by stroking with the hand while cuddling one or in play.
@@loveanimals969 What the hell are you hallucinating about! Min pins are bred with great love, which the return many times over. Min Pins are best suited for intelligent, very active people, as the min pin enjoys mental stimulation, hours of exercise and play. Min pins would do very poorly with someone like you!
I'd take a Miniature Schnauzer over any of these breeds. No smell, no shed and one of the most intelligent dogs alive today.
My very favorite dog breed is the Saluki, which also has NO doggy odor and has the advantage of being smart, elegant and absolutely gorgeous.
@@david5372 interesting, I do like the look of salukis but have never owned one, how big are they? oh no I love cheetahs
WOW that’s sounds wonderful and perfect, how are you doing today
Sad that greyhounds did not get a mention. They are friendly couch potatoes, require little to no grooming or bathing do not smell are often recommended to people with dog allergies and make
greyt pets.
Great comment Wendy. I've had many over thirty years and they would always be my first choice.
Yes! Greyhound definitely should be on this list!! I have two retired racers and are great family dogs! ( Very clean dogs)
My neighbors had greyhounds and they didn’t stink. The owner thought it might be due to low body fat. They were so sweet.
I also adopted a retired racer who was so loving and a great companion@@tracymarcellus4121
Yes, and Italian greyhounds and whippets are also left off. I notice that they usually only include fuzzy dogs.
I have a miniature schnauzer, awesome dog, and very smart. He doesn’t shed or smell either. You need to look into it more and make another 10 best.
I love the Bichon breed. So happy, comical, have a zest for life and are smart. They definitely love their people!
Bichons are truly amazing dogs, full of joy and love!
Now I can't make up my mind. All the dogs in this video are so cute.

I have one my baby he is 15 3/4 yrs old !!! Just a joy ,!!!! Great companion dogs 🐶
Love my Havanese, but I am her emotional support human!
I fully agree with you. Wasn’t really into dogs until my daughters got me a havanese. So playful & intelligent. No shedding. Rarely barks. Loves going out.
Why is the Miniature Schnauser not mentioned?
Sorry about that, it's included on our updated list

We had a cockapoo for 18 years. She never shed and completely odour free. Bath her once a year unless she chased wild things and got into mud fight. It was very hard for us when she passed away. Still thinking about her.
My Yorkie Shih Tzu mix passed away last week at age 18 in dog years. We have been taking her to grooming appointments a lot! I miss my dog too!
So very sorry for your loss…. Please when the time is right…. go and find another baby to love, or maybe an older dog .
I doggie sat for my neighbors cockapoo and I would have asthmatic symptoms after a while.

Hi Susan 👋
How’re you doing today?
Iv had a min pin for 7 years and he does not smell at all
Lol. Yeah ALL dogs shed. Maybe alot sheds at a minimum but still sheds. I got a family member with a maltese and he sheds. Hell i shed from my mustache and beard!! Lol
@K9 Salon & Spa - Thanks for your take on this video. My Spidey sense always perks up when I listen to these list style videos.
Dogs who need clipping tend to have more issues with hygiene and matting unless you keep on top of it
,I had a 14 yr. old Pembrooke Corgi who only had 1 bath.He had no smell but he did shed all year. No odor .
What about the schnauzer? They don’t shed and don’t smell. Very smart, beautiful dogs!
Schnauzer should be add to this list. They don’t shed or smell and they are very loving and playful companion dog.
Yes! And they are smart and easy to train love kids and other animals!! The mini schnauzers are about knee high tops and are just lil lovers!! So so soft. Just need groomer trims every 6 to 8 weeks:)
Agree 100%. Bugsy is my mini-schnauzer #5.
Maltese and poodles are my two favorites!

Same here. However, teacup Maltese dogs are very hard to find & are very expensive. I lost mine eight months ago & feel like I could never replace her . She was so special, she was born deaf but I trained her to go into a litter box within one week. She was truly my comfort and joy. ❤️😢
I love poodles 🐩 they are smart and very easy to trained.
He changed my life for the better ❤.
wow, you almost make me cry! sorry about you neighbor and i wish you the best with your health
Yup Shih tzus dont shed or smell.... they are a lovely, adorable breed.
The best
They smell. Yuck.
They can be difficult to housebreak, though.
I am amazed how Shihtzus are always ignored! Adorable, beautiful, and caring dogs they do not ever shed or smell bad!
Oh yes they smell.
@@TheBarkinFrog Only if you don't clean them or bathe them. Or maybe it is the food you give them. Commercial food has sometimes pieces of other dogs. Yeah, that is true.
