Goose has a lot of Wolfhound personality traits-- the complete lack of interest in exerting any effort being the main one. Bouvier's can be pretty laid back as well so they got really lucky with this cross. Imagine a dog that size with full on Bouvier herding instincts clashing with prey drive the Wolfhound could have instilled.
I volunteered at the shelter Goose came thorough! He was the perfect gentleman during stay at the shelter and every single person that met him instantly fell in love. No surprises that he was almost perfect the first time he was groomed! I always wondered how a dog with his breed mix would get groomed
My last dog was GS and my current is a Bouvier. They are incredibly similar. Both in appearance and in demeanor, imo. Probably lots of cross breeding between the two as both were decimated during WW2 and basically recreated from existing remaining stock and some comparable breeds.
I had the pleasure of owning a Bouvier years ago. She was the calmest, laid back dog I’ve ever had. She was such a sweetheart. I kept her groomed like a Giant Schnauzer. I thought of her when you brought Goose in. 😊
That was my second guess… Bouvier des Flandres except it’s got a definite Briard head, ears and slight body structure. I was thinking Briard/Bouvier mix maybe. 😊 ear have definitely been cropped and glued up like we do the Briards in the US
I love dogs who look like wizards in disguise, like the Bouvier des Flandres and the Wolfhound, so I think Goose looks amazing! ❤ And he's so calm and sooo fluffy!!
Goose looked a little rough around the edges before his groom. Afterwards, you could see him supporting a black bow tie and drinking water out of a Martini glass. How dapper he turned out. Great job, Vanessa!

I cannot understand why groomers would recommend shaving him?!? He does have a lot of hair, but it didn’t look terribly matted enough to warrant a last resort full shave. I’m so glad that they found you!! ❤️ 🐾
what a well-behaved boy! i cant believe he's never been professionally groomed before and he had such a rough start to his life but he's still so calm and trusting with strangers. that's a fantastic dog right there.
For coming from a backyard breeding situation, that dog is incredibly well behaved for his first groom. Hats off to his owner, definitely doing something right!

He was definitely a good boy, so well behaved and so calm. Although he looks so big that if he decided to do something, you wouldn't be able to stop him anyway. He sits, well he's gonna freaking sit and there's nothing anyone can do xD
Love this transformation! I always like that you basically debunk what other groomers say in regards to shaving vs brushing etc. As for the nail trimming… I’m trying to get my Cane Corso pup used to having his trimmed, but he isn’t making it easy.

Yes, I did guess correctly. I had a beautiful Bouvier named Fredericka. The herding instinct was strong in Fred. She would herd my sons and their friends when they were little. She was fiercely loyal and consider me the Alpha. Bouvier are wonderful pets but they are headstrong and need training. ❤
The origin of the Bouvier is a mix between Irish Wolfhound and Laekense Shepherd. So this mix isn't really a mix, this Bouvier may be more Bouvier than most modern Bouviers are XD
@@maryeckel9682 half the Bouviers I've had were Salt/Pepper and pure blonde. At one point in the 90's, it was almost impossible to find a black Bouvier here in Flanders, they were almost all bought up by the Dutch and our police.
My Chow Chow, Amoteka, thought she was the boss of every other dog on the planet. I took her with to visit my friends who had a male Bouvier. Miss Chow tried to boss Kong around. He politely grabbed one of her paws and would not let go until the his human intervened. She squealed like he was killing her but there wasn't even a mark on her foot.
What beautiful floating movement Goose has! I guessed Wolfhound and Giant Schnauzer and then when you began giving hints it was clear that he was Bouvier. What an amazing mix if they all have such wonderful temperaments and movement
That floating gate is the typical Briard movement. They have a very cat like grace as they move, their top line doesn’t move only their legs. Google French Briard in show and you’ll see it. 😄 but then she says the owner likes the Bouvier cut, so is she saying he’s full Bouvier or still possibly a cross becuz bouviers don’t have a tail. And that coat looks more like a briard.
I guessed Bouvier and Briard, then saw that I should have seen the Wolfhound as soon as it was mentioned. I babysat a little boy whose family had a Bouvier. If the mother was getting angry at the boy, Josh would place himself between them to prevent a spanking. This was back when spankings were considered part of normal childrearing, but Josh was already more evolved than people.
What a good dog. I have a Bouvier and two young kids. She’s only put herself between the kids and one other person, who she seemed to really like, but I don’t know if it was because she didn’t know him super well and I was out of eyesight or bc she could feel something I couldn’t. 🤷🏼♀️ She gets very conflicted when my kids run in two opposite directions. She’s not sure who she should go keep an eye on 😂

I knew a Bouvier breeder & he said his males were a handful to say the least. Thank goodness for the laid back Irish Wolfhound part. I've had 2 male Russian Wolfhounds. Laid back at home but closely monitored out and about. Loving the big breeds tho
He reminds me of a good bar bouncer - looks alone inspire respect even though the video clearly shows a well trained sweetheart. (Folks don't start stuff in the bar if a tattooed version of the Hulk is lurking by the door - they don't have to know he keeps rescue kittens.)

He is absolutely beautiful!! I guessed his two breeds correctly. I myself had a female irish wolfhound mix from the time she was 8 weeks old till she passed away from old age. She was gigantic & she was a fabulous family dog. We loved her sooo much.

Guessed Wolfhound, but not Bouvier. He's lovely! I've had wonderful interactions with Wolfhounds on a few working historical farmsteads here in Ireland, they're the biggest sweethearts.

As a young boy we had an Irish wolfhound and she was such an amazing and loving dog. I was absolutely heartbroken when she got old and passed away. They are absolutely wonderful with children and are some of my best memories ever.
Bouvier's are amazing dogs. They have the most peaceful, gentle, wonderful personality... And they can be quite territorial. I had a rescue Bouvier, and he was truly my favorite breed... No other animal compares to their gentle, obedient, protective nature. (And he could fit 3 tennis balls in his mouth... His jawline was gigantic... There's a reason he was a great guard dog... Nobody messed with "Bear". ).
What a well behaved big boy. I would have never guessed both of the breeds. He is unique looking dog and so very cute. You did a great job on him as always. I love both of your channels and keep up the good work. Kudos!
I am in LOVE with this dog! I wish I'd been there to adopt him. We want to add a wolfhound to our home when we move again but, I love this mix! Gorgeous and his temperament is 100% wolfhound.
The Bouvier part explains that already. And Bouviers are that way because the 2 main originator species of the Bouvier des Flandres are the Irish Wolfhound and Laekense Shepherd.
This is the chillest dog ever. He’s like the capybara of dogs. If you brought him to the park, he’d probably have a picnic lunch with the squirrels.

I was opposite. Never guessed wolfhound. Its a nice mix, nut combinb that "straight" hair seemed hard. Undercoat probably didn't help.

The "beard" was a giveaway for the Bouvier but I would have guessed Newfoundland for the other breed myself.

If I didn't know he was a calm, laid back dog I would think Goose is not a dog to be trifled with.
I think the only danger might be if he tried to sit in your lap. If that didn't do you in, he would lick you to death.

Guessed Wolfhound, but not Bouvier. He's lovely! I've had wonderful interactions with Wolfhounds on a few working historical farmsteads here in Ireland, they're the biggest sweethearts.

As a young boy we had an Irish wolfhound and she was such an amazing and loving dog. I was absolutely heartbroken when she got old and passed away. They are absolutely wonderful with children and are some of my best memories ever.
Bouviers were created as a mix between Irish Wolfhound and the Laekense Shepherd (the progenator breed for the Malinois and other Belgian Shepherds).

Bouvier's are amazing dogs. They have the most peaceful, gentle, wonderful personality... And they can be quite territorial. I had a rescue Bouvier, and he was truly my favorite breed... No other animal compares to their gentle, obedient, protective nature.
(And he could fit 3 tennis balls in his mouth... His jawline was gigantic... There's a reason he was a great guard dog... Nobody messed with "Bear". ).

I am in LOVE with this dog! I wish I'd been there to adopt him. We want to add a wolfhound to our home when we move again but, I love this mix! Gorgeous and his temperament is 100% wolfhound.
