I always enjoy an "Alessio tasting". You definitely need to try authentic Texas barbecue. Also try the famous vinegar based North Carolina barbecue. I honestly don't think it is fair to compare different types of barbecue i.e. Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee and North Carolina. You will find outstanding barbecue in each region. It really depends on the flavors that you enjoy. Happy Birthday Jessi 🎂. You are such a sweet, intelligent and humorous couple that always brightens my day when I watch you. 🫂❤️
Exactly! It's like asking, what's better, steak or lobster? It depends on what you like. BTW, the best cracklins I ever had are made at a little Piggly Wiggly grocery store in Madisonville, LA, just north of New Orleans. They're like pure crack. The seasoning is incredible - you can't stop eating them! But if you hate cracklins, it's like saying they're the best dog turds - it won't mean anything to you.
As an italian I m so curious to try texas bbq.. the cousin of my father have some business in houston, chicago and miami so she come there in the states 5 times a month and she told me that texan bbq its amazing.. i m so freaking curious😁
Youre such an adorable couple. Bringing America and Europe together and putting different stuff to the test. I love it & I wish the both of you all the best. ❤️❤️❤️
I don't normally comment on these sorts of couple vids, but you two are soo genuine and fun to watch, I just had to tell ya...keep up the fun vids, and my best wishes to you both!😊
I know the trend amongst RUclipsrs lately for BBQ is to try Terry Black's, but I recommend the original Hutchins BBQ in McKinney (north of Dallas) if you're ever in the area..all the meats are great, the "Texas Twinkie" (a jalapeno pepper stuffed w/ brisket and cheese, wrapped in bacon) is great, the broccoli salad is great and must be some grandma's secret family recipe, and they give complementary dessert (banana pudding or peach cobbler). There's Goldie's in Fort Worth (west of Dallas) which was rated #1 in Texas most recently - haven't had Goldie's yet so can't comment but i'm sure it's also great! Pecan Lodge is also ranked high on most lists. There's also a Terry Black's location in Dallas proper, so you could technically try a number of great spots on the same trip but that would be a very heavy week. 😁
This is coming from a Houstonian. We are proud of our Houston BBQ, but if you want the best, it's Franklin's in Austin. Hands down, best I've ever had.
@@hotwire62 LOL. He just voiced what HE prefers and then a snowflake like you comes along. By the way, Texas BBQ is the best. People come from around the world to experience true Texas BBQ and smoked meats. Kansas is just known for pulled pork.
When you go to Texas you need to go to Goldee's BBQ in Fort Worth! Hands down the BEST BBQ in Texas. If you can't get to Goldee's then a great second choice is Terry Black's.
All BBQ joints are the world's best BBQ. It's like your momma's cooking. Everybody's mother has the best cooking, and that's okay and uncontested. Everybody's wife is the most beautiful, and everybody's kids are the most loved. Superlatives in the South can easily be plural and mutually supported.
@@davidmacy411 I do not recall Mr. H and friends going to Terry Blacks, but I do know that they went to Goldee's BBQ in Fort Worth. Goldee's has been voted as the best BBQ in Texas by Texas Monthly.
You should also try Kansas City BBQ! It's pretty amazing. But for sure you need to try Texas BBQ next. It's absolutely the best! I've had Tennessee, Louisiana, Kansas City and Texas BBQ and Texas is the best. You need to go to Terry Black's in TX. It will blow your socks off! 😊
Never been a fan of cracklins until recently I tried “The Best Stop” in Scott, LA and I died and went to heaven. AMAZING!!!! Best cracklins on the planet!! And I agree with others that you need to try Texas BBQ. That brisket in the video is majorly lacking a smoke ring - there’s no way it’s as good as others.
I used to live across the street from Blue Oak. It is really good bbq, up there with the best bbq in the city. The chopped brisket sandwich is the best thing they have and their brussel sprouts are great and the cracklins are dangerous when you can walk across the street and eat them every day. The mac and cheese is ok, but really heavy on the garlic. Central City BBQ has the best ribs in the city and their spoon bread is crack. The shack also has amazing ribs but they are best fresh, and if i remember correctly, they have great mac n cheese.
Y’all need to come to Kansas City for BBQ. There are so many good bbq places you’ll have reviews for months! Burnt ends are the specialty here and they are to die for. Jack Stack might have the best baked beans out of anywhere I have tried and I have had a lot of bbq. Go to Joes KC and get a Zman, Q39 for some unique twists on things (best wings on the planet, smoked beef brisket poutine, etc.), Jack stack for awesome sides and traditional bbq, and that’s not even getting into the real local joints. There are some out of this world holes in the wall here.
My personal favorite BBQ in Texas is the Salt Lick in Austin and Hutchins BBQ in McKinney you must get the Texas Twinkies from Hutchins and the burnt ends from the Salt Lick!! Amazing Texas BBQ.
Pork Crackling (with slightly thinner fat on the skin) is popular in UK pubs as a drinking snack (popular with the pubs as it's very salty so encourages you to drink more!)
I live in Dallas. While I'm a vegetarian the rest of my family are not and love Pecan Lodge for BBQ. I have been there and they have some of the best veggies I've ever had. Terry Black's is just down the street from Pecan Lodge and is another community favorite for BBQ.
Yall should check out some of the Texas hill country spots. You could do Franklin's and Leroy and Lewis in a weekend in Austin. Just show up early to get in line for lunch.
Take a chip + cheese snack and add veggie + meat, and you get a meal that eats like a snack. A crunch taco is just nachos in portable form, but suffers from a lack of distribution. Nachos can add beans for more protein, pico de gallo or salsa at any ratio lets you add or remove veggies as desired, and the cheese slows the digestion to make the meal last longer, allowing for the simple carbs from the chips. If there is one supermeal everyone should learn how to make, it is nachos. And these looked amazing! I wonder if this version was pan baked, or they just used the pan to heat the nachos and keep them warm longer. And I agree, mac'n'cheese with cornstarch/breading is very meh. It is an agrarian food due to very dense carb load in a small dish. And it sits in your gut like a rock :s
The best of anything food related doesn't exist. We each have our unique background tastes that we like. One person likes crunchy what the other likes soft....
Pork cracklings are "Chicharrón" in Spanish. I found "Ciccioli" in English Wikipedia, although it's not made from pork rind (it might be somewhat closer to jerky).
I live in MS on the Gulf Coast and we had a man who served barbecue out of his house and no lie it was the BEST barbecue in the world. EVERYONE in town and even bordering towns would show up to order plates of his barbecue. His house unfortunately caught a lot of damage from the last couple of storms we had and he finally had to close down. Anyway, if he was still open and serving his famous barbecue I would’ve recommended y’all come and try it. Also, I don’t know what was with that macaroni and cheese y’all got but it looked to gloopy. The best is homemade southern baked macaroni and cheese. I love watching y’all’s videos. 😊
#1 BBQ restaurant is Goldee's BBQ. (according to Texas Monthly which ranks restaurants every 2 years) If you go to TX, you have to try it. It's mind blowingly good
There is regional differences in the sauce from Western NC and Eastern NC. I appreciate both and believe you cannot rate BBQ if you do not enjoy it with sauce.
The best barbecue in New Orleans is Central City BBQ, whereas Blue Oak is popular for fried brussel sprouts. They don't even slow smoke with real fire. The best barbecue is Texas for beef, Memphis for pork ribs, and North Carolina for pulled pork. New Orleans is famous for Creole cuisine, which is equally delicious!
Cracklins, especially Blue Oak's, are delicious. To be more specific than how y'all described it, it's pork belly with the skin attached. So if you've ever eaten pork belly in any other instance, you've essentially eaten cracklin. It's just thick chunks of bacon. Just thought I'd elaborate because it seems like perception of what it was may have affected the review. With that being said, I could still see it being a bit overwhelming on first try if you're not accustomed to eating lots of pork
Happy Birthday, Jessi! 🎊 🎉🥳 Crackling is chicharron! Yum!! Very popular in many Latin cultures including Filipino culture…which technically is also considered a partially Latin culture. If you squeeze lime on it or dip it in spicy vinegar, it helps to cut the grease. It’s so amazing! Make it into a taco or eat over rice! So good! I’m salivating over here. 🤤 That BBQ looked good. I’m sorry it was spectacular. I’m also always on the lookout for amazing BBQ.
The “cracklings” are what’s also known as “chicharron” in latin america. A very very popular dish in all of latin america. They actually come from Spain, where they are called “torreznos”. I would have thought that Italy has their own version of it, like maybe “pancetta”. Cause, that’s what that is, basically fried pork belly.
The farther north you go, the less beef bbq you will find. When you get to N. Carolina and Virginia they mainly have pork bbq. The further south you go, the more beef you will have. Best thing about Barbecue in the States is that no two places do it the same. Louisiana BBQ is different to Texas BBQ and both of those are different to North Carolinian BBQ.
I would submit that the best BBQ is from Ridgewood BBQ in between Elizabethton and Johnson City and Bristol. It’s a small hole in the wall/mountain place that people have come from all over the world to try.
