Thank you for bringing us into your home to meet your family...and also to help us understand something about life in Calabria. We only went a few times to Italy...but we stayed for a month each time. We always loved the food. It is so much better than the Italian-American foods I still liked well enough. I had a loyal friend whose family was Calabresi. I worked for an Italian-American Senator and ate the food his Italian-American family grew up with. We also ate at least once each week at our local Italian-American Community Center. I believe the biggest difference in quality was that the markets we visited in various parts of Italy had the very freshest local produce. Unless we were able to shop in the Italian neighborhoods in South Philadelphia or in New York City, that quality, freshness, and selection were not possible to purchase. I made gnocchi for my family...and I have never seen a more pleasing dish than the one your family made. I believe the wooden tool you used to make the grooves works much better than the back of the tines on a dinner fork.

Ciao signorina Irene. Congratulazioni!

Irene!! This is only the second video I have watched of yours and already you are my favourite number 1 youtuber! I love Calabria, I visit Calabria (VV). I learnt so much from this video thanks to your mama's cooking! I have soooo many questions. 1) Was that two different types of cheese in the Lasagna? Now I know I need the little wooden 'thing' to make the lines on the gnochi and what angle to hold it - so thank you. Is it easy to make gluten-free Gnocchi? When you go to a restaurant how do you ask for a small jug of local wine when it isn't on the Menu? Why did you get on a plane? Do you work in the North or in another country? Your English is perfect, so congratulations. I like that I can understand what you and your parents are saying in the background. (I learnt basic Italian from a Calabrian). Please, please make more of these videos. I loved the vegetarian food at the end - with the fried peppers and potatoes etc and the Riccotta. The Bread sounded so yummy with its crunch. I could say so much more but I will stop now. Thank you for sharing this with us. With hugs from England UK.
Your comment made me so happy! Hope I will answer everything ❤ 1. Yes, my mum likes to put a lot of chees. I can ask her what she put exactly but usually is parmigiano and another soft cheese. 2. You can make gluten free gnocchi by changing the flour, yes, but never tried so I cannot tell you if they will taste the same. 3. To ask for the small wine you have to say "un quartino della casa", or just ask for "vino della casa". 4. Yes I live between Calabria and London, I love both places ❤
@@irene_italian Thank you so much for replying. Really helpful! Thanks re the jug of wine - im going to southern italy in a few days. Sadly not Calabria but to Campagnia this time. Will be back in Calabria in September (Speriamo).

Ciao

Hope I will answer everything ❤
I just discovered this video and when I saw the minetrone soup I almost cried! It reminded me of the BEST, BEST minetrone soup I ever had in my life! It was in Firenze in Leo's ristorante. It was magical! I miss Italy very much.🙂
Art & Beauty equals Italians and Italy .
Any with sane mind, should not only expect one person to have this type of channel. I really enjoy it here!
I instantly fell in love with you and your family, to include your white cat! 😊 You made me very hungry!
You have a beautiful family. We would love to see the south anytime. Your videos give me so much happiness. Continue sharing for all of us.

Wonderful eating. Wonderful family. Grazie mille.
Great video! I love Italian food! Visited Milan and Rome. Tried my hand at fixing pasta with shrimp but, I bet your mom's taste better than mine! Take care!
Nice. It's not only Italian food but an Italian family that we foreigners want to see
THIS has just become my favorite RUclips channel !!! Irene, you are awesome! Thanks for sharing such fun videos with us. It makes me want to come visit !
A fantastic insight into traditional Italian food, family and lifestyle Bellissima!! Really enjoyed that!
Thank you so much for making these videos. My family and I just returned from France visiting Paris, Nice, Monaco and a day trip to Ventimiglia, IT. We've visited Rome, Venice, and Tuscany years ago. We were fortunate enough to visit Barcelona last fall. I've been very curious to spend some time in southern Italy due to its beauty, culture and charm. We live in the US in Oklahoma, thanks for sharing!
Nice love it when ur family cooks together.
This video looks suspiciously familiar….🤔
Even the music is the same 😅
Thank you for sharing. My grandfather and grandmother came from your area. How I wish I could live in Italy.
I want to visit Italy so bad❤
I enjoyed your video. I would like to see more of local areas in Calabria, like, Tropea, Pizzo, Catanzaro Lido, Santa Eufemia, le spiagge, Gizzeria Lido, la Sila, San Nicola Arcella, Praia a Mare, Isola di Capo Rizzuto, and resorts, just to name a few. 😂
Thank you for opening up a whole new world. Clara
We are going there soon in a new video :)
Ciao
Che bella storia! Grazie mille 🙏
Absolutely, beautiful , just beautiful. I live in upstate New York but spend a lot of time in Altomonte Calabria. Without a doubt one of the best overall videos about Calabria. Going back to Calabria this year from early September to mid November. Everything about your video from music , photography to just being natural. Subscribed….please keep making these videos….❤
Thank you so much ❤️
This is just wonderful!!! Thank you so much. Greetings from a Melanesian in Holland. You can be proud of your beautiful family and your mom the chef cook 💖 Looking forward to see more interesting videos.
Fresh produce, mountain spring water, homemade pasta, espresso, wine, friendly village life and camaradarie. Pretty sure I could live there and be quite happy.

I really love your vídeos. What a treasure you italians have!!! Comida y familia ❤
GIrl it's fine that you also want to do these kind of videos but don't copy Rosie Maio
but no one can top Rosie Maio, her content are more warm hearted, family oriented, the realness, the messiness, the chaos, shaking editing 😅 (its cute), nothing glamorous, just humble living.... just life
I like Irene better.
On yt everybody copies everybody
let people who aren't fully satisfied with coke try pepsi instead
I am lucky to find this new channel! Please organize a south Italy tour
Can I come to your Mum’s house to eat? What fantastic food. Thank you
It's 7am here in Melbourne Australia and I want to eat each and every dish you have shown on your video! 😂
