My first go at this work, very much appreciate the advice and information. I did plan on just sealing the holes. Now, as I already have matching existing shingles, I’ll try it your way.
Even if it did (which it doesn't) its not gonna kill you (unless you have a one of those electric heart things (pacemaker I think its called)) its just gonna give you a quick zap kinda like getting whipped with a branch except unlike the branch this will leave no mark and when its over the pain is completely gone. A branch will keep hurting.
@@AurumRoofing my point is if they do see rain it would be just extra protection for those holes to be sealed and it would take less than a minute to provide that extra assurance.
You will know if it's water damaged. Look for sponging in the plywood, softness, water marks. If you feel an averaged hammer swing can break the plywood, replace it.

Something I probably wouldn't do myself but instead understand the work needed to be done. And to get a fair deal! Thanks man!
Not a problem. Glad it helped. Just a fyi, for this type of small project assuming there is no plywood work you can expect to pay $300-500.00
I'm scared of heights. But I'm also cheap. Guess I'll be getting up on the roof....
lmao there is no way in hell I could stand on the edge without falling off.
Thank you. Exactly what I was looking for. Doing this with a harness though.
Your welcome and thank you very much for your comment. Yes, please do. This project is most of the times done on the edges of roofs.
Nice clean work
I have an old antenna like this not used, bought house with it, question does it carry power?
Most of them do not, but I would recommend you check for power with an electric tool.
@@AurumRoofing ok thank you, u got my sub.
very helpful, thank you so much!
You said wire cutters like a true SA
Saludos, si algun dia esta en el area de Houston dejeme saber por favor porque yo tengo una antena que me gustaria quitar.. graciassss
Would Direct TV pay for this 🤔
In most cases no provider pays for this service, the dishes are considered your property once installed.
Stupid question time. Regarding cutting the cable… does it carry any current? Thanks
Might be a better question for your cable/dish provider to answer.
No it dosent

This would be a great starter project if one had never tried roofing repair
I'm wondering why you didn't fill the holes made by the mounting hardware with flex seal or something similar.
The holes should never see rain, Underlayment and shingles is the water proofing. Great question!

Thank u!!
You're welcome.
Where are you located
Do you need to seal the holes in the plywood?
No you dont seal these holes. These holes will be water proof with your felt and shingle install.
@@AurumRoofing ok, Thanks!
How do you know if the wood underneath is not damaged?

what kinda sealer do you use?
Roofers Choice sold at HD.
