    :) Thank you for your interest in Aurum Roofing the Gold Standard in Roofing. In this video we are showing you how to properly repair your roof wind damage on a 3-tab asphalt shingle roof. Below are the 12 steps needed for this DIY project minute per minute.

    Items Needed- 0:28 - Hammer, Preferred Roof Seal, Caulk Gun, 1-¼’’ Roofing Hand Nails, Flat Bar, Utility Knife with Hook Blade
    Step1)- 0:53 - 3rd Row detach existing seal (gentle without damaging existing Shingles we are reusing this Row)
    Step2)- 1:07 - 2nd Row detach existing seal (gentle without damaging existing Shingles we also reusing this Row)
    Step3)- 1:17 - Using your flat bar make sure you pull every nail you see from 2nd and 1st row approximately 8-10 (depending on project size), once all nails/staples are out the damaged shingle/s should easily slide out.
    Step4)- 1:42 - Remove Damaged Shingles if shingles do not easily slide out go back to step3
    Step5)- 1:45 - Check for or hammer down any left over Nails or Staples, Caps. ect... (Make sure you have a nice clean smooth surface).
    Step6)- 2:03 - Slide in new Shingle Row 1 (line up shingle edges with the existing shingles).
    Step7)- 2:33 - Install 4 nails on row 1
    Step8)- 2:51- Install nails on row 2 preferably 1-2inches next to old nail holes.(Make sure you reinstall all 8-10 nails you pulled from Step 3)
    Step9)- 3:08- Double check for any missed nails on all work area. Install nails were needed.
    Step10)- 3:22- Re-seal broken seal from Rows 2 and 3 (from steps 1&2)*Make sure you apply seal on all nail holes to prevent a leak.
    Step11)- 3:57- Apply Seal on New shingle Row1.*Make sure you apply seal on all nail holes to prevent a leak.
    Step12)- 4:47- Press down work area to assure proper seal contact

    Clearest instruction of the many videos I've watched. Step 1: break the seal on row 3. NOBODY stated the first step that clearly.

    what if the broken row is right at the eaves trough. will this type of repair work or is there more steps needed?

      Good question! If that's the case then all you have to do is carefully remove the needed roofing nails along the ridge/eave line without tearing the shingles to prevent you from having to replace them. This way you can get to the wind damage shingles below the ridge line.

      It's called Roofers Choice from Home Depot. ~$2 per tube.
