There's a line in there that really sells how much Noir feels. "Can you close off your emotions so you aren't crushed by the moral ambiguity of your violent actions?" He's taken life and it affects him, despite trying to hide behind the hard-boiled facade.
Fun fact: Spider-man noir is a little different in the comics compared to spiderverse. He is more violent and impulsive in the source materials. He kills most of his enemies, wich are more often mafiosi than nazis.
@@HansDampf-bt8jyI think it's less Punisher and more of the Noir Detective bleeding into Spider Noir. In that genre Detectives are expected to be more loose cannons working adjacent to the law but still outside of it.
@HansDampf-bt8jy not really Punisher. Other than Vulture, whom he executed for trying to eat Aunt May and *DID* eat Uncle Ben, Noir doesn't go out of his way to kill people. He also is too bothered about holding back on them either. Is who shtick is, "If someone has too much power and abuses it, it is up to the people to take away that power."
@@Seasonal-Shadow_4674 He stopped killing in cold blood, like shooting a downed enemy, etc, etc. He still won't lose any sleep if he blasts someone's head off in a shootout.
A reason why Noir might feel so comfortable on the couch: the directors confirmed he's 19, his voice is just a very forced low one he puts on. So being around other Spider-People - and we see they can sense when someone is like them - several of whom are also teenagers is having a very good effect on his mental state. We're seeing him at this least guarded. He has to be guarded as someone trying to portray himself as much further along in adulthood than he actually is in his own universe, in the late 1930's/start of the 1940's. He grew up during the Great Depression, he grew up with food insecurity and poverty. Being guarded was hammered into him by the world - but the Spiders are vulnerable with one another and open from the second they meet. And 19 is barely an adult. He wants connections, he wants to be with people, even if his era and life experiences have told him he shouldn't, and while he never fully drops the deep voice that makes people think he's older than he is, he does relax. He opens up a little. And I think it's really wonderful that they showed us someone who is very much tough, badass, good at what he does and morally righteous, but also deeply human. The Spider-Verse movies really said "we're not going to write any one-note characters" and I respect that.
I think Nick Cage nailed this role. He is the best example of a spider-man who balance his “toughness” and his kindness for his allies. Your cosplay is very dapper ( I think that is the right terminology for a noir ecstatic) with and with out the mask.
Fun fact:Spider Noir uncle got eaten by vulture which is one of the reasons why Spider-Man Noir uses guns, doesn't spare villains, and is serious.BTW he's 19 in the comics. He isn't at all goofy and funny like the Nic Cage version they only made him that was because Spider-Verse 1 is a kid's film. Spider-man Noir's comics are gritty, realistic, dark, and serious so if Marvel were to make a live-action movie of him it would be a perfect answer for "The Joker 2019".
If only MCU had the guts and brain cells to make a movie (or mini serie) like that... but how things are going so far Noir is better existing in comic books.
I like to think in this movie he IS being serious but just doesn't come off as such. Similar to how those old movies went about the serious tone in a way that comes off cheesy.
In the film you can clearly see two groups of spiders: Peter's group and Noir's group. And how both Peter and Noir naturally assume a role of a "protector". It showcased in the scene where Noir's group is introduced and the one who Peter addresses with questions was Noir. But it goes deeper. Both are leaders of their groups, but they don't question each other actions and they don't interfere because they trust that each of them can protect those that are under their care. Like "I see what you're doing, I'm doing the same thing!". I find this unspoken man's trust and understanding very cool and beautiful.
I don't think SM Noir sees the rubic's cube in black and white. I think he's now for the first time seeing colors, and is trying to memorize which one each is. He comes from a world that is literally just black and white and shades of grey.
how do you explain that he doesn't form any square? also, many color shades un w&b are similar or the same, so... just wondering how would you justify that (fanfiction purposes, tbh)

There was one little thing you might have gotten a little more observation from. In the end credits he not only works out getting all the sides to match but he then reveals the existence of "The Cube" to his world and asks them to challenge their senses. It seems to suggest that everyone in his universe can see colors but until he left it's confines the existence of anything outside of black and white never occurred to him. And now he's asking them to also look past black and white and see that there is an entire spectrum of possibility.
Uncle Ben was eaten by the Vulture, Spider-Noir is 19, he grew up in deep poverty, he produces his own webs organically so he's constantly hungry due to how much energy he's expending, he has nightmares about what he failed to do, and that's just the start. He needs therapy. Or a hug. Or both.
I love Spider Noir sm! He was instantly my favorite when this movie released. I am SO excited for the third movie, I know the main plot needs to move along, but I look forward to seeing him again.
