It's actually really sweet that Gwen kept the hairstyle Miles accidentally imposed on her in the previous movie.
I feel like it was to remember him. She grew to really like him but had to leave and because of this she decided to keep it for him. She has no one else other than her dad and she isn’t really that close with him. Miles was all she really had. Miles on the other hand also missed her but he could cope better through drawings
@@adamboy0559 What's funny is that in ITSV when Miles first says "i like your haircut" during the Alchemax chase, Gwen responds "you don't get to like my haircut" but she's blushing pretty hard. Miles was the first person in a long time to genuinely compliment her and she clearly didn't know what to do with it 😂

@@jayceallen6530 i gotta think its blushing. every single frame in these two films has been done with some deliberate intent. And since they were always trying to frame Gwen and Miles together romantically, that first compliment would definitely come off as to Gwen a little embarrassing. At least that how i choose to interpret it. though I'm by no means an expert 😆
@@adamboy0559 Do note that Miles is getting into fights with his parents, Letting his grades drop, Replaced his art goals with heroism and physics research so he could unlock dimensional travel. When his parents ask him who his friends are he barely names Ganke which we see in the film is barely supportive then name drops Peter and "Gwanda"...He doesn't have this great support structure. More than Gwen prior to joining the Society yes...But not by much. Certainly less than Peter did.
The flaw people have is believing he's better off than them...When he has suffered as much or at least has differently. He just doesn't let that doubt and suffering prevent him from doing what he earnestly believes is the right thing.
The amount of hate she gets is insane to me. It's like people purposely try to mischaracterise her
People just see her lying and betraying miles. She didn’t have a choice. She was forced to lie to try protect him. She didn’t want him to get involved in this as she knew he wouldn’t be welcomed. She lied to protect him and people fail to see this.
Wait a minute there’s actually hate against her? I haven’t seen it anywhere online. At least not in any numbers worth even remembering. When did that start happening? That makes no sense to me whatsoever. She is an absolutely incredible character in the story of her own life, as well as the rest of the Multiverse.
@@danielwhyatt3278 I have found a lot of people badmouthing her and acting like she's at fault for everything going wrong in the movie for lying, without even trying to remember why she was at the spider society to begin with. It's been going on ever since the movie's release.
And yet there's little to none of that same backlash for Peter B. Or Miguel. If think we all know why that is.
@@danielwhyatt3278 a lot on yt shorts iv seen. Mainly on the one where he breaks her web during the chase scene. People say she betrayed him which she didn’t. She from the start was trying to protect him. He just couldn’t handle not seeing him again and followed her. I personally think no matter what she’d have came back to see him. She missed him so much and it’s hard to believe even after promising Jess she wouldn’t she’d find a way. Perhaps the watch hobie would make later since she wouldn’t be able to be tracked on it. Everything she lied about was to protect him from the society. She didn’t want him getting involved. She didn’t even want to be anymore. The reason she joined was she had to get away from her father who was about to arrest her and she wanted to see miles again. Another point is miles changed his career path from art to physics for a chance that he’d one day be able to travel the multiverse and see her and the others again. Something Miguel had already done yet didn’t let miles have it. The main part of the betrayal is he wanted to see them for the past year just to find out they could have but didn’t. We see noir and ham didn’t join and in the failing apart scene when miles swings by buildings we see ham noir and peni. Gwen and Peter are missing as he’s trying to cut them out his life. He feels they left him and they betrayed him. People hate on her to hate on someone. She is a teenager who’s emotionally lost and didn’t know what to do and we see this when she breaks down to her father all the emotions she’s been bundling up for so long now.
As an avoidant personality myself, I sympathize immensely with Gwen while getting pissed at her for the choices she makes because I’ve made all the same mistakes and hate to see her fall into the same traps. I do love when she finally stands up to Miguel’s bullying, though, and even more when she reassures his parents that she will bring him back to them, not “to us” because she’s not acknowledging herself as worthy of inclusion in his family circle, but “to you.” And yeah, the last scene is up there as one of the best endings in cinematic history. Banging music, awesome little bookending monologue, everyone get their look back at the camera, and we see the uncertainty in her eyes (and Miles’ because the camera shifts between them) become conviction.
I'm sorry man.

Could have a double meaning as Gwen falling is how she dies. That fall of Gwen is usually a canon event for spiderman and the most notable thing she does for him.
4:37 I think that she said it perfectly how an avoidant person would. Because before Miles could say anything she shut the possibility down by saying that something bad happens when spider-man and gwen get together right after saying that. It's a 1-2 combo in her head.
Miles seemed to comfort her after saying “there’s a first time for everything” as she then leans onto him. This usually seems to show they feel safe with that person. She feels safe with miles and saying anything to him. She knows he will understand and not judge her for it
I agree. For me, this whole scene shows how much Gwen trusts Miles already and how much she wants to be close to him. She finds a way to express that desire that fits perfectly with her avoidant attachment style, just to immediately follow it up with the reason why, unfortunately, she cannot allow that closeness.
Expressing her feelings so directly despite her avoidant attachment style is a sign that she feels safe enough with Miles to do so.
Oh, god, that last scene was perfection. It's so beautiful, there's so many layers going on, not only in the dialogue, the performances, but the visual storytelling in the animation, the uses of color and light and space to mirror Gwen's and her dad's emotional journey, it's just so. Good.
May the actors, writers, animators and all other artists who worked on this masterpiece get the recognition, respect, and due recompense they wholeheartedly deserve.

Not only does she detect danger to another person in another reality it's spanning across over a thousand of them. That is INTENSE. Pretty sure that outright confirms that Spidey Sense is empowered by Love.

@@adamboy0559 Funny thing is Miles isn't in danger...Yet. Miles 42 is a Good Guy. It's once he freaks out and flees he'll alert the Actual Villains of which the entire city is in their control. Of which there's dozens of Supervillains...All of the heavy hitters minus the Goblins and Symbiotes are hinted. Sandman, Shocker, Bullseye, Slyde (Speedster), Mysterio, Doc Ock, Kingpin or Evil Daredevil (in the comics Gwen's world has Evil Matt could be here in this one now), Punisher or the Tinkerer, Electro, Hammerhead or Justin Hammer (Iron Man level villain), Tombstone, Scorpion, Rhino...There's more symbols I can't place.
It's more than Six. So six leaders or one of many rival factions. The city was placed in lockdown right after Miles arrived, Miles 42 knew to cover his hands with rubber gloves...They KNOW who/what he is. Miguel or Dr Olivia must've told them! Which is game changing it means that Gwen's Band is teleporting into a death trap.

Gwen is so relatable, I am a self confessed perfectionist, but I am trying to be better about it. Plus, I love that you're so dedicated to your cosplay.

As someone with an avoidant attachment style, I agree about communicating in less forward and more neutral ways when it comes to vulnerable things. But I'm Gwen's case, she knows Miles likes her and that he'd been thinking about her since she left(the drawings), so the risk is smaller. She's also speaking about Gwens and Spider-Mans, in a broader multiversal sense, so there is some distancing and reframing their circumstance in an impersonal way.

When she worried he was dead you can hear the panic in her voice. She didn’t care in this moment about anything other than seeing Miles was ok. I think it also triggered some sort of ptsd as he could be dead to the same way Peter was killed. By failing rubble. For the starting a band it shows she is opening up more and actually calling them her friends now. She is letting people in again. Before she obviously cared for them but she wouldn’t call them a friend yet.

It really feels like this movie was as much Gwen's as it was Miles', and we may get even more of that in the next one. She may have even encompassed more of the emotional core of this movie than Miles himself did.
I feel like the next will be about fixing there relationship. Miles feels like she betrayed him. She done what she done because she cared. Because she cared so much about him she didn’t want to get him involved in this so he wouldn’t feel like this. In beyond she will need to show him she cares and always cared and that’s why she done it. I hope 42 and 1610 miles join forces and he helps him fix earth 42. Then he joins the team Gwen made against Miguel. Prowler miles was destined to be a hero and now he is trying to be one but he struggles as he only has Aaron to look up to. Aaron obviously being more of a criminal he tries to be like him but he can’t he helps people still. I want them to team up stop the sinister 6 cartel and join gwens team. He may not be superhuman like who he will be against but he’s strong and he was destined to be one. He has it in him all he’s missing is the bite.

@@Omar-kl3xp yeah in his eyes it looks bad but when you know why she done it you see she didn’t have a choice. She done what she thought she had to. She didn’t want him involved. As soon as he was she didn’t know how to react. Leave the people that brought her in and allowed her to see all these other people like her and miles again or betray them and be sent home. She eventually chose to betray them and well she got sent home which originally to her meant she wouldn’t be able to help miles now. If hobie didn’t see this coming and give the watch to gwens dad instead gave it to miles she’d be trapped and heartbroken. We see her finally break down to her father as she’s lost. She’s stuck here and miles is alone.
@@adamboy0559 like I said in the other comment she was put in tough decisions that no one want to be in ,that’s why I do understand that she did what she thought was the right thing in order to protect miles ,so I do sympathise with her ,but I also had to talk about miles prospective and in his prospective she messed up big time and it would be hard to trust her , I do hope Miles will forgive her but wow for many people that would be a deal breaker for sure .

Once he sees what she’s done for him as well by geting kicked out and bringing back the og team with some new Comers like pav and hobie he will forgive her. If she didn’t care she wouldn’t go through all she did to get the team back. He will see this and forgive her but might take there friendship slower to begin with
I love the idea that summarizing Gwen's last scene as her own leap of faith. Making me feel overwhelmingly impressed about how spectacular this movie is and more excited about the third one. Excellent work !!!!

I’m so happy they made Gwen such a good character in Spider-Verse. Better than any version of her from other media. IMO including comics and her Spider Gwen/Ghost Spider comics.
I also feel this is the best version of Miles as well...Both of them I already like the other guy too. Granted Insomniac Miles is pretty good too. The comics didn't set up their relationship well it just kinda happens and is a footnote...Like no these films have certainly made it into a real couple not just some niche.
Though I do hope they keep/incorporate Earth 8 elements and the Evil versions of Matt Murdock, Silk, Jess and Jefferson in play. I hope they create a new Evil Variant of Miles Morales on Earth 65-B too. We need an Evil version of Miles...616's wasn't great and 42 is actually Good just Dark. Imagine if 1610-B dies in Beyond only for Gwen to go home in Spider-Woman to see his face on that of a Nemesis seeking to kill her father...Pure Tragedy the worst case of ASM90.
They really built on her character. She hasn’t really ever had this more main character role in anything till now. They really made her character so much better.
@@adamboy0559 Which it won't end...In Beyond she'll be major clearly can't wait to see her reaction to the other Miles and how she'll convince Miles to love her again. Then the next film after that is a spin off about Spider-Woman she'll be the Main Protagonist alongside Jess and Silk. So we're going to have her get the full treatment.
If Miles lives he'll need to transition into the love interest role to the Heroine, If Miles dies we're going to get to see how that breaks her changes her for the worst. If both happen because there's two of them...Amazing.
@@flamesofchaos13 yeah I can see that. I didn’t really care about Miles in the comics since I grew up on Peter Parker Spider-Man from the 90s. But the Spider-verse movies and the recent Spider-Man games made me really appreciate Miles.
@@zhaf I still love Peter but the game and films have made Miles my fav. I didn't care about Gwen at all...These films I love her character and really relate to her for better and worse. I didn't know much about Spider-Punk immediately love em. Outside of them Animated 90's and Noir are my guys.

5:12 to me, that scene was less "oversharing", and more telling him, she is not ready to go beyond. that's why she says it like that. she even says it in third person. as a separation, putting herself as "another gwen". and this is more of her using that fact as an excuse so he doesnt get his hopes up. which she is happy he got it, but also a bit sad.
also, in your argument, it also fits because she sees this miles as someone she can share. someone she sees as someone similar.
she even mentions that she feels good talking to him. which also explains why she is so open with him.
I love that the voice of Gwen is the voice of Vi from arcane and both have an avoidant attachment style lol
When Gwen says her “in every other universe” line to Miles, I disagree with the idea that she wouldn’t be so forward. In her reunion with Miles, she confirms to herself that he has been thinking about her just as much as she has while she is looking through is sketch book. She then verbally reciprocates to him that she ‘missed him too’

4:30 also the Under The Clocktower scene (the scene you're showing here) is definitely one of my favorite scenes from this movie tied with Miles v Miguel
Also remember Gwen has the ability to travel through different dimensions and the fact that she was exposed to the canon events the same way Miles was so when she says "in every other universe Gwen Stacy falls for Spider-Man" it shows she's seen how every love story with Gwen ends Gwen falls for Spider-Man both metaphorically and literally it adds onto the fear of her actually liking Miles
More or less she didn't want Miles to go through the same heartbreak as her when Peter died
@@Shinigami88X1she also thinks she’s the issue. Anyone who gets too close to her dies after Peter. This is why she locked herself away for so long till she met miles. She originally tried to stay as professional as she could and not gain any attachments when she first meets miles as spider Gwen and not gwanda he previously knew her as. She slowly breaks this and starts to show she cares for him she waited and wanted him to be able to control his powers on command. When he does show up she is happy to see him as well
The line “in every universe Gwen falls for Spider-Man” is more than her being forward. In every other universe Gwen falls to her death and is a Spider-Man cannon event. She is as much an anomaly as Miles.
I love Gwen’s story arc in this movie, people said this Movie’s plot isn’t finished or only part of a movie. In the context of Gwen there’s a full arc that comes full circle by the beginning and end so I can’t really agree with that sentiment at all considering how good her development was.
i said this before. in other superhero movies, the male hero has to prove himself to earn the love of the heroine. in spiderverse, we have the first movie and half of this one, with him pursuing gwen. but because he is looking at his idealized image of gwen, he gets his heart broken when confronted by the real gwen. with her flaws that he never knew, because she was the perfect ideal of what a spiderman should be. even more than peter B.
but, mid way through the movie, we have him face reality, and at that point he let go of his crush on this fake gwen, to go help those he knows need his help...
and the dynamic shifts, because its now became gwen's job to not only pursue miles, but also prove herself worthy of his affection.
so now, we will get a third movie, where they will be able to become a couple, not as one above the other, but as equals, both flawled, but also as inspiration for the other.
That's what makes the Spiderverse movies interesting
What I like about Gwen's writing is that, they remind you that she's a kid. Yes she's a super hero, yes she's in love with Chad Morales...but that fear of rejection and failure is so relatable, especially as a kid. But that leap of faith, that desire to protect Miles is what matters now. She doesn't know if it's right, but, she feels that anything with hm is possible. I guess that's why Miles is the chad 🤷🏿♂️ Oh and to note, Peter B Parker coming to his senses was heartwarming too
If everything is canon which the film does pretty much confirm...Then Miles and eventually Gwen by the end are 100% right. However there is a cause for the destruction of realities...It's not going to stop and they're all going to die without question. Death isn't a bug it's a feature. No matter what they do there's no stopping it...They will crumble the only choice is separately in fear or together in love.

I think fear of rejection and failure is relatable to anyone at any age. It’s definitely relatable to me
I'm so sick of people hating on her. Yes, she's older and more experienced, but they forget she's still a kid. Of course she was gonna fuck up. And at least, she has the decency of recognizing her mistake and learn from it.
If anything, her arc is one of the main reasons I love this movie. She went from an interesting girl to someone I wanna give a big hug.
Gwen might be my favourite character out there and definitely a comfort character for me, so seeing her be appreciated and be analysed as she is instead of people just attacking her with shallow thoughts makes me really happy. You're amazing, love you for this vid.

Talking about her fear of being with Miles I think it’s actually the other way around because notoriously every other Gwen Stacy dies when she gets with Spider-Man I believe in lore she is the only Gwen that isn’t dead that’s why she’s called the ghost spider I think.
Nope...Not every. There's dozens of Spider-Gwen's, Hundreds of living Gwen's. They even have their own Multiversal Team the Council of Gwen's. Here's the problem...They reject Spider-Gwen of E-65 just like Miles is rejected by the Spider-Society. As for this Time Variant of E-65B...Well she doesn't know about them so that's the telling part.

Great video. Specifically like when you mention her resolve as she is about to jump into the portal to go get her band together. Happens right after she talks with Miles parents again. You can tell she's made her decision that Miles is that one person she needs in life so that she can breathe/feel normal. Their connection is very strong but it took her the whole movie, and to see Miles defy the whole society (and win) for her to feel confident enough to make that choice. But once she made it, she chose to go full speed into it. I'd argue that she also doesn't want to live with regret of not allowing herself to express her love for him. I'd be interested as to what impact you think Miles had on Gwen.
So note on the wording! It references how in the comics and media, Gwen and Peter get together first, but she usually falls to her death and Spider-Man isn’t able to save her, so in every other universe she literally and figuratively falls for him

Minus the every part. There's multiple What If realities where she doesn't die. Which Spider-Gwen is one of these What If realities by definition. Miles and Miguel are also What If's until they were taken to the Main Timeline. Also the Default Canon for Spider-Gwen...Yeah there's more than one of her quite a few more. Like their own faction more. Said faction who may or may not make an appearance in Beyond and/or Spider-Woman. There is a reason why Spider-Gwen thinks she's the only one though...They reject her as Miles is rejected by the Spider-Society. Which is called irony.

The spiderverse movies are playing real fast and loose with how the whole spiderverse concept works, so it's possible that in the movies logic gwen is the only gwen in the multiverse who doesn't fall to her death and that's only because she became that universes spider person
@@sighberspook2021 It is canon. The first reality the Spot went to is a Comic Reality. When Miguel explains Canon Events they use Comic Panels. They directly mentioned the MCU which also canonizes What If realities.
It can't even work another way the very concept of the Multiverse is ALL Marvel products are Canon. It's confusing and complicated and contradictory on purpose though. Hobie states this..."I don't believe in consistency". It's why the Multiverse is insane...It will easily contradict itself because the actual canon is every single last reality has a unique canonicity.
It’s funny. Before I even saw this movie, I had a character of my own creation: A teenage girl who is popular in school but not popular because of the usual teenage stuff. She is popular because of one thing: Because she is known around the school for being so nice to everyone.
The one trait my character has that is her most defining trait is, Listening.
She is my favourite in this movie. God this is by far the most relatable character analysis I have ever watched. I have been axious with a lot of things and this really helped a lot. This is great Georgia
Hope you cover Miles again in this film. Miguel would be interested to see what mental condition you believe he's in. I don't know if there's enough of Hobie to analyze but him too. They've confirmed we're seeing Spider-Punk's world in the next film so we'll be getting more of him...Which is notable given who he REALLY is. "Anyone can wear the mask".

One of the scariest scenes I've seen is the all too real police showdown: "GET DOWN ON THE GROUND" "AM I PUTTING MY HANDS IN THE AIR OR GETTING DOWN ON THE GROUND?!"
Hey Georgia! Have you considered doing a video on the different parenting styles of Jeff and Uncle Aaron? I was thinking it would be cool to give pros and cons to both styles of parenting.
Show Jeff's no-nonsense approach as being helpful for discipline while a possible con is that Miles doesn't feel safe coming to him about personal stuff.
Versus
Uncle Aaron's more relaxed approach, which allows Miles to feel freedom, but if pushed too far it could allow Miles to neglect his studies.
Plus, both sort of try to push their own ways on him. Jeff tries to force Miles to display love in a way he doesn't feel comfortable displaying, and Jeff's acceptance of Miles' autonomy is what allows him the strength to become Spider-Man.
Uncle Aaron (in a much sweeter and lighthearted way) tries to impart his own values of how Miles should approach women, which if misunderstood, could lead to other embarrassing situations like the one he had with Gwen.
Pros: He encourages Miles to be himself.

It says a lot about the sort of environment that Jeff has versus Uncle Aaron, and I think this would be a stellar thing to explore in a possible video!

Yeah this is also going to come into play as well...On Earth 42 where only Uncle Aaron influences Miles (obviously Rio would too but given Jeff's absence I'm sure that negatively affected her). We'll see what happens when only freedom and problematic advice about women is allowed. I think Captain Stacy and Gwen showcase the only strict parent no leeway given approach is taken.

I feel so sad for her and that she had people taking advantage of her emotions while she was at her lowest, she didn't even have a home and Miguel and Jessica were taking advantage of her weaknesses and threatening her to send her back to her father who wanted to put her in jail. Poor baby girl 😢 I hope things work out for her, she deserves it, she's been miserable for so long

I do think that Gwen (Along with Peter B) made some VERY bad decisions in this movie by conspiring to keep Miles from saving his father. However, I understand completely how and why she came to make those bad decisions. The scenes with her father worked wonders to flesh out her character and make her relatable. I genuinely cared about her as much as I did Miles, despite her betrayal.
I really hope her and Miles are able to rekindle their relationship in Beyond the Spiderverse. They have great chemistry together and they both have tried to be there for each other when it counts.

Hi Georgia!! I can relate to Gwen to an extent too. It's not easy for me to open up either. And yeah, it's totally not cool how her bandmates tried to push her to talk about it. I agree that it is upsetting and just worsens things.
Overachieving, overthinking...yeah that is so tough too. It is very stressful. Your analysis is spot on. It's much easier to be hard on oneself. To beat up ourselves. Gwen's struggle - dealing with the fear of failure - is well written and the writers did a nice job writing it. You did a great job in describing it as well.
I love Miles and Gwen's relationship. You're absolutely right that he's the one who she trusts and one of the very few friends she has.
Great points about how the fear of failure has affected her so much. It can be such a heavy burden and takes a toll.
Excellent points about the pendulum and swinging back to self-doubt. That's spot on. Much easier to be overly cautious than to, in Miles' words, take the leap of faith (and it's understandable to be afraid and refrain from taking that leap).
I didn't think about diffusion of responsibility, but it makes sense. And I totally agree. It's really tough going against a large group. Social norms and group norms emphasize conformance. Hard to be one who doesn't conform.
"If you're not with us, you're against us." - It's scary how pervasive this can be. It also leads to a lack of nuance.
It takes a lot of strength to not conform, I concur. I agree, Gwen is very strong.

So true that anxiety levels will fall as we go with the decision. From what I noticed, it spikes then falls. Gwen's life is much harder than mine of course, but I too have noticed that when we try something new, when we do something that makes us scared, the anxiety spikes and then decreases over time, so I agree.
I love how she pushed past the fear and got friends together to go find Miles. I love how the movie has continually emphasized this- to push past our fears, to stand up for what we believe in, and to grow.

Wow this was amazing - I just discovered your channel and I LOVE your deep-dive introspections into the underlying psychology of these characters!! On Gwen, a follow up question on avoidance personality. Is it something that can be GROWN out of? Hypothetical: This is post Beyond-Spiderverse. Miles and Gwen are now in a happy, committed relationship (say 6-12 months). Gwen's even coming by Miles' family and they are integrating her into their family activities, Rio's acting as a surrogate mom to her (which I totally believe would happen in this hypothetical given Rio's personality)...would Gwen be able to move on and shed this avoidant personality and let her grow into these new relationships? Or is avoidant personality something that's so deep and ingrained, that you can never truly shake it?

As a pastor's son who left evangelical Christianity in the Bible Belt a few years back, this movie hurt in ways I hadn't expected it to. And now with you pointing out Gwen's fear of mistakes and loss, as well as the importance of starting her own band (as I have only recently even started to do), there's all the more to feel when I think of this film.

I love your reactions so much and would love to see you analyse Jessica Drew, I feel like a lot of the fandom does;t understand her or her character and would like to see your therapist opinion on her and analysis of her character.
I instinctively question pretty much anyone else's motives. It sabotages my personal relationships but my girl and I've been together most of the last 17 yrs so I must be doing something right. I'm not trying to be contrarian....I'm just cautious when everyone wants to do the same thing. When I see ppl in a group Star mentally synching up with verbal language and body cues, it completely creeps me out. It makes everyone feel threatening to me. I know sometimes this needs to happen to get shit done when a group of ppl cooperate to accomplish a goal. I have to think about things carefully to make sure I want the results and the possible consequences are being accounted for.
I'd like to see you analyse Pavitr. He only got about five minutes of screen time, but he stole the show for me!
After the betrayal and the break up with Miles she's afraid of losing her only friend she loved most but can't risk the same fate that happened to her former friend that she's unable to save leading to her guilt she didn't blame it all for her lies she didn't mean any of this now that Miles was gone in earth 42 she no longer knew what to do she tried her best to be happy but it always reminded of Miles after he goes solo pushing her away and the gang she had a long way to go something that must be done as the team is reassembled to the rescue Miles ment a lot to her the spider gang want Miles around he's more important than the spider society will they get to earth 42 before Miguel does the gang must go after Miles they had to whatever he's going through of the situation while in danger by himself they can't leave it like this Miles shouldn't abandoned his friends that doesn't feel right to him dispite Miguel's anger issues
I think the writers went a little to far! She will have a lot of explaining to do in the next movie. An something real big will have to happen for Miles to trust her again. It will be interesting to see how they did this! In my opinion. P.S. The hey better leave Miles future wife and mother of his children alone. Peace!

The thing about the way Gwen phrases that is...well, do you know what happens to Gwen Stacy in the original and in other adaptations? She falls for Spider-Man....he tries to catch her and breaks her neck or back, killing her. This is either a cheeky nod to the audience members who know this, a hint that a Canon Event for Spider-Man is often to lose a Gwen Stacy and Gwen knows it, or both. Also, as far as Gwen knows, she's never going to see Miles again after this, so there's little risk in putting herself out there to that degree.
I've also seen it posited that it's a test on Gwen's part. She's told Miles Gwen Stacy and Spider-Man usually don't work out and then she's waiting to see how he reacts. He's still willing to try; he's passes the test.

Solid movie overall, though maybe not as strong as the first one. I don’t know if it’s a good sign for the next movie that the sub plots (Miles and Gwen just hanging out, Gwen and her father) were more interesting than the main plot. I guess we’ll see.

Man I actually read the comic version of Gwen's origin when Peter died and the movie portrayed it waay better. In the comic, they kinda made peter unlikable because he was jealous.
