Really the only bad thing one can say about it is that it's a shame we never got our Dragon/Bug type (though dragon/ground was undoubtedly better for competitive.)

Yeah he just needs stat buffs, move buffs, an ability buff, a new gen mechanic that suits it, basically everything about Flygon needs to be upgraded to be relevant again, and/or next gen Garchomp, Lando, Gliscor, and Great Tusk need to all not be in the game even post home and for gamefreak to not make another high usage ground type. I mean Flygon did have it’s niche in gen 4 Ou for sure but it definitely wouldn’t have been used that much if both Garchomp and Salamence weren’t banned.
I am quite satisfied with how Flygon has settled in previous generations, honestly. It's always found a home, using its excellent combination of traits and versatility to always establish itself wherever it falls to. Hell as the guy above me pointed out, last Gen he was a massive part of RU. Not every Pokémon needs to be OU viable, if a Pokémon is able to find a place where it can thrive, which is the beauty of Smogon's tiring system imo, then I am perfectly satisfied with that. Even if it's not 'relevant' in the big tier everyone talks about, it still has a home where it thirves.
A nice Flygon video to cheer us up. Still salty about there not being a Mega Flygon. Here's to hope that Iron Mugulis doesn't manage to evolve into Tinpot Tyrant (sorry I've always wanted to make that pun) before Home eventually releases.
Flygon definitely my favorite Dragon to use in Gen 4. 2nd fav would be Mence when he was unbanned but even when you could use Mence, I think the existence of Flygon was part of what made it great. Mence could afford to be an SR Weak risky wrecking ball because you knew in the back you still had his equally fast, but much more mentally stable cousin in the SR resisting, Sand, Spike, Toxic Spike and T-Wave Immune Scarf Flygon ready to clean house. Great review Jim, but I think that’s what you’re missing- a 30 minute BKC style monologue just about the magic of Flygon’s passive damage resilience. lol
Flygon is cool and all. But I can't stop thinking about Lillipup and Mabosstiff being cop buddies. The bad cop Mabosstiff being a secretly retired mob boss and the good cop innocent and pure young Lillipup. I just imagine scenarios where Mabosstiff has a thief pinned to the ground and Lillipup pleads for him to let the criminal go with a warning. I just think they'd be a cute paring.

Flygon wasn't great most of generation 4. He was totally outclassed by Garchomp with its superior attack and speed almost until the release of generating 5. Flygon only saw use after the ban as a "weaker Garchomp." Gen IV Garchomp is one of my most influential memories from my time playing online matches. I remember running multiple bulky pokemon with 169 sp atk and ice beam to deal with it.
