A History of "Offense" in Competitive Pokemon.

- Competitive Singles has a community that likes to categorize Pokemon teams under certain Team archetypes.
These archetypes are a bit like a Spectrum from Defensive to Offensive.
Towards the end of the spectrum land simple "Offense" Teams. These teams aim to apply pressure to the enemy at pretty much every point of the game, not usually employing strategies such as healing or supportive utility.
However, they aren't completely all in on offensive threats with no backbone whatsoever. They often consistent of Sturdy Pokemon that can come in a couple of times against enemy threats, but rather than be Passive and exploitable from there, they keep pressure up by Attacking, Exploding or even Pivoting out safely back to your Offensive pieces.
Let's explore 1 example of an Offensive team from every Generation and how this style has evolved throughout the years.

Between this and Pinkacross’s videos this has really helped me learn the differences between archetypes. This for the history of offense, and Pinkacross’s for the theory of offense.
i learned to play pokemon with two sweepers, two walls, a lead, and an anti-sweeper/disruptor. it's comfortable and makes sense to me.

I'm concerned by Jimothy Cool's deceptive behaviour. We were promised new subscribers would be converted to Horsepower at once. Yet you say we've not given Magcargo the converted subscribers at this time? Magcargo may be in danger from a treacherous tactic of Horsea's own if he doesn't receive the needed Horsepower. Could this be a duplicitous move on Jimothy's part?
Jimothy cool is not to be trusted. He may act like he cares for the pokemon, or even the viewer but Jimothy cares for no one save himself.
He is a ruthless business man, most likely in kahoots with the likes of Old Money.
I'm so excited to see this Gen III team running around the ADV ladder for the next month.
...anyway I'm off to ladder with this Gen III team, wish me luck.

Favorite one that comes to mind recently was Tera Poison Heidrigon running sub draco to counter nacl and Kingambit

Jinx was considered on offensive teams but for a different reason same with coffagrgius
Surprised by the lack of ice types, like mamoswine or especially weavile, its a typing thats all about offense.
Ice Beam is so common on water types that it doesn't need heavily and mamo as much.(Unless you're a gen 9 kyurem or you have ice spiner.)
@@enderchau954 STAB is really valuable though, and speaking of waters, i'm also surprised by the lack of cloyster with Shell smash, suits offensive very well.
@et34t34fdf Shell Smash is for hyper offense even without whiteherb. You either using the one time use item or risk dying because of defense drop.

In Gen1, I got to 1500 with three boomers (Eggy Gengar Snorlax) combined with Alkazam, Tauros and swapping out Chansey for Persian. But I guess that would count as Hyper Offensive already.
Jinx Gen 2 offense is one of the most underrated team styles

for gen 1 teams, eggy is (if you're skilled enough with team building) a good replacement for chansey due to both of them posessing dual status
Gen 1 Jinx managed to be it's own unique brand of offensive.

Hello! Dropping chansey for a more offensive special attacker is definitely an option for more aggressive teams.
Jynx is certainly a well known offensive Pokémon - if you remember that controversy.
In competitive Pokémon, players are on the spectrum.

Why not psycho cut on mega medicham? Slightly less bass power but I think it has better accuracy and better critical hit ratio

I like gen 6 more than gen 7 tbh because i do not love Z moves dealing some damage through protect or the Ultra Beasts and Magearna running rampant...oh, there's also Toxapex wich unsurprisingly is a very toxic wall. However i still enjoy that meta purely because i love the Tapus.

13:59 is punishment that popular on gen 5 sets of landorus-T? Don't really see it ever at all in later games as a move you'd want to use competitively.
