I should point out that in Pokémon Colosseum, Shadow Bayleef was the most chosen Johto starter, but not on purpose. It's because when the choice opens up to you, the game does a _terrible_ job letting you know there even _is_ a choice. The only information you're given beforehand is that you have to go to Pyrite Town immediately, and from there you enter the map right next to the blocked exit with the trainer who has Bayleef. Typhlosion was the first fire type starter I chose in the Pokémon series, and has become a favorite of mine since, even I they butchered it with the 3D model. And the fact it has a regional variant? That's just the icing on the cake.
My favorite Pokemon. My journey started with Silver and Cyndaquil's been my companion ever since. I was super happy when they had the special episode with The Legend of Raikou. Not the biggest fan of Hisuian but they gave him much more love than the other 2 starters.
This reminds me of back in HGSS when they let Typhlosion learn Earth Power at the Battle Frontier, and everyone was like, "Oh that makes so much sense!" And then they gave it and its fellow Johtonians Mega forms in Gen VI because they're classics too. And then after all the positive feedback from fans everywhere they continued to do things that made so much sense like not arbitrarily taking Dual Wingbeat away from Charizard, and not having Raids set on a timer that can be easily desynced because of varying connections. And now Gen IX is smoothly executed and Typhlosion is solid in competitive even post-Megas, and things are just nice. Good memories.
"And then they gave it and its fellow Johtonians Mega forms in Gen VI" Typloshion never got a mega form though. The only starters that got mega forms in Gen 6 are the kanto and hoenn starters the rest didn't get megas.
“Moooom, I want to get Charizard!” “We have Charizard at home.” Charizard at home: (But no seriously, Typhlo’s cool and all, but I’m really glad it was given a Hisuian variant.)
My favorite pokemon ever. Eruption was always such a surprising nuclear move on Typhlosion. Even without specs, I'd bring him into gen 6 and 7 OU, and it was always amazing to catch people off guard for an insane OHKO.
It is nice Typhlosion improved in generation 4 and the hisuian form has been doing very well so far, eruption fit Typhlosion perfectly and helped the second generation fire starter improve. Perhaps hisuian decidueye and hisuian samurott each could get showcased in a future video to see how they did, alongside their fellow hisuian starter cyndaquil-Typhlosion.
Did you know that in renegade platinum thanks to base 125 Spa combined with Adaptability it’s specs Heat Waves and Eruptions tear through everything bar palkia. Especially under sun
In Radical Red, Typhlosion has a new ability called Blazing Soul which gives priority to all of its Fire moves so we have stuff like priority max power eruption.
Tbh, I have to thank legends arceus and the Pokémon adventures gold, silver and crystal manga for making me appreciate typhlosion so much to the point that it’s my favorite fire starter ever (just not my favorite starter overall).
The moment gen 4 came around it *ERUPTly* leaped in power to being one of the best fire starters to use for sweeping unexpected teams either with speed or *sheer force* that is Choice Specs 150 Eruptions. Also looks very cool in gens 2-5 but lost that coolness in gen 6 onwards.
If you switch its attack stats It could profit from its huge physical movepool Yes it would loose eruption But base typhlosion has 5 different types for special attacks (including solar beam and focus blast)...well and normal But freaking 11 with physical attacks, with moves like play rough, iron head, wild charge or earthquacke of course It would make it better in my opinion (And its funny that a special attacker has better moves as some physical ones)
One of my favorite memories of Sun/Moon OU is using sunny day support, switching into a fire move with typhlosion to trigger flash fire, and spamming specs modest eruption. Its like you clicked on the opponent's bar and pressed "delete" on your keyboard, absolutely absurd
Thoughts on making a video or a series of videos talking about the most impactful moves on the competitive scene from each type? For instance Stealth Rock for Rock type moves, Explosion for Normal type moves, etc. You could limit yourself to just one or discuss multiple moves per typing.
Gen 6 and 7 are something of a blind spot for me in my competitive knowledge so I had no idea Typhlosion was such a demon in gen 6 NU! These videos always teach me something new
Typhlosion was the first Pokemon I ever got to level 100, so it's always had a special place in my heart and is one of my favorite starters ever. So hearing of that it actually had a competitive slot this good is amazing to hear
We need an incineroar video man 😔 We have Charizard, Typhlosion, Blaziken, Infernape, Emboar, and Delphox. It makes sense to have Incin before Cinderace. Pls make this happen guys 🙏🏽
Hisuan Typhlosion was probably underrated in Regulation D, a lot of good pokemon don't want to take Eruption and it's immune to fake-out, Chi-Yu and Heatran already being established in Gen 9 VGC probably caused people to overlook it
True chi yu does its job better with beads of ruin and heatran ofc has flash fire if the regulation didn't have legendaries unrestricted typhlosion-H would have been top picked fire pokemon
Weve come so far my friend i remember pokemon silver the first pk game i ever played and picking cyndaqil everytime for my starter:) thanks so much for making this video
The Volcano Pokémon using Eruption. Sounds fitting. It's meant to be. Oh yeah you forgot to mention regular Typhlosion getting Shadow Ball as a consolation prize after receiving a Hisuian form.
Typholsion I loved as a starter though I never really used it’s other form at all. Though I may use it in showdown and figure it out as it’s a cool fire starter
I remember seeing fanart back in the day of a Mega Typhlosion that leaned heavily into it using eruption as the fire on its shoulders effectively became an active volcano and (if I remember correctly) it had either a partial rock or ground type
I gave base Typhlo drought and nerfed its physical attack & bulk for +10 speed and sp.atk in a fanmade project. Gave it Earth Power, Energy Ball, and nasty plot as well. Gave H-Typhlo 120 sp atk and 106 speed by nerfing physical attack again. I also gave it Magic Guard, trick, energy ball, and earth power. Also buffed Infernal Parade to 65 BP.
Would love to see a video that covers how things would be different if the gen 1/2 special split went the other way for each Pokémon. For instance: Weezing lost 15 points in special defense when special became two categories; a video speculating how good could weezing could have been if it's special defense increased by at least that much would be interesting. Same goes for those Pokémon's that lost special attack during the transition. I always think about this as the biggest missed opportunity to rebalance underpowered gen1 pokemon.
Man, so sad that he didnt get eruption on gen 3, he could have been a pretty interesting alternative to moltres, having more damage (with the correct team support) but being weak to spikes , similar to how blaziken its a more powerful version of charizard (both are fire mixt attackers that can destroy skarbliss), but weak to spikes

"And then they gave it and its fellow Johtonians Mega forms in Gen VI"
Typloshion never got a mega form though. The only starters that got mega forms in Gen 6 are the kanto and hoenn starters the rest didn't get megas.
@@lj3830read the rest of it. They're being ironic
“Moooom, I want to get Charizard!”
“We have Charizard at home.”
Charizard at home:
(But no seriously, Typhlo’s cool and all, but I’m really glad it was given a Hisuian variant.)
My favorite pokemon ever. Eruption was always such a surprising nuclear move on Typhlosion. Even without specs, I'd bring him into gen 6 and 7 OU, and it was always amazing to catch people off guard for an insane OHKO.
16:53 - 17:15 "Losing 10 speed is worth it..." Mega garchomp crying in the corner.
I've always been more of a Feraligatr man but I respect my fellow Johto enjoyers regardless 🤝
How do you play typhlosion? Eruption
Typhlosion is finally getting the respect it deserves.
More like it's high ghost grandma is getting the respect, while the regular is being the usual treatment...
Great to see Typhlosion getting his highlights! 🌋🌋🌋
Let's go. Thank you very much
Did you know that in renegade platinum thanks to base 125 Spa combined with Adaptability it’s specs Heat Waves and Eruptions tear through everything bar palkia. Especially under sun
In Radical Red, Typhlosion has a new ability called Blazing Soul which gives priority to all of its Fire moves so we have stuff like priority max power eruption.
@@joshcooper467💀
Glad to see Husian Thyplosion causing people to give Typhlosion as a whole a second glance.
Just imagining two Flash Fire Typhlosians constantly spamming eruption on each other daring the other to give up as fire rains down on the stadium
Def the most aesthetically pleasing thumbnail
Tbh, I have to thank legends arceus and the Pokémon adventures gold, silver and crystal manga for making me appreciate typhlosion so much to the point that it’s my favorite fire starter ever (just not my favorite starter overall).
80% of this video is "How good is eruption actually?"
Glad to see Typhlosion doing well
Concept: Hisuian Typhlosion paired with a Toxic Spikes user? Start with Infernal Parade already powered up.
So happy to see my very first starter get a video with "GREAT" in the title.
My favorite pokemon of all time that only got dethroned by itself with it's hissuan form.
H-Typhlosion should have gotten Mold Breaker as an ability. Pretty thematic and would also make it better competitively.
Typhlosion has always been one of, if not my favorite Pokémon. I wish it was as OP as it deserved to be.
Seeing the fully evolved version of my favourite Pokémon have GREAT in the title is a dream come true
If you switch its attack stats
It could profit from its huge physical movepool
Yes it would loose eruption
But base typhlosion has 5 different types for special attacks (including solar beam and focus blast)...well and normal
But freaking 11 with physical attacks, with moves like play rough, iron head, wild charge or earthquacke of course
It would make it better in my opinion
(And its funny that a special attacker has better moves as some physical ones)
Wait, 😮 like Power Swap!
*Seismitoad deserves a video*
😭😭😭😭 my boy got recognized thank you.😭😭😭😭(yes typhlosion is my fav starter)
Gen 6 and 7 are something of a blind spot for me in my competitive knowledge so I had no idea Typhlosion was such a demon in gen 6 NU! These videos always teach me something new
i edited this comment to say i love snowy peaks from flood escape 2
Thanks, I appreciate it.
I still find it a crime that Typhlosion can’t learn Earth Power
That’s my boy! Typhosion was my very first Pokémon!
His video is gonna be 80% VGC and 20% singles lol
What always gets me is that Typhlosion had the same exact stats as Charizard so it was a Zard without wings
I love my mellow weirdo. He carried me in all those by 2/3 on one in Arceus
How GOOD what Charizard (without Flying Typing, a smaller movepool, and whatever new fancy gimmicks this generation is rolling out) ACTUALLY?
Typhlosion: So anyways, I started Erupting.
I love Typhlosion so much, using a choice spec/scarf eruption one was my cheatcode to both Gen 3 and Gen 4 battle frontier
Thunder punch Typhlosion went hard in gen 2
Why does Hisuian Typhlosion look like he's smoking some wild weed
I remember seeing fanart back in the day of a Mega Typhlosion that leaned heavily into it using eruption as the fire on its shoulders effectively became an active volcano and (if I remember correctly) it had either a partial rock or ground type
H-typhlosion Was the first time i considered it. I still went rowlet, but i actually considered it.
Hopefully the Feraligatr remake will cover BDSP considering it actually outclassed Gyarados there.
Fav Pokémon ever ❤️ thanks for the remake!!
