0:12 feels like the narrator is stalking the house while talking.
Depends on how you look at it.
This was my first scary movie I watched as a kid in the 90s. My mom had finally given me permission I because I was banned from watching them. I always had nightmares about anything remotely scary. After I saw this, I thought Michael Myers was hiding in the fridge.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
excellent a classic!
Lol...y the fridge?
@@Jani28 Ya it is...I only have number 3 season o th witch on dvd but I remember these movies wel...scary but funny 2...u no?
I am sort of like this t00.
Yes, because if there’s one thing we know about Mike, it’s that he could not believe it’s not butter!
The start of the GOAT of Horror
There is something the way the narrator, said " the night he came home" was just great.
Some movies never lose their shining, and this is one of them.
Halloween 1978 is the best slasher horror i've ever seen.
Bay of blood 1971, Intruder 1989 and black Christmas 1974 brilliant films only reason they ain't as know is because its not Michael, Jason or freddy
Is that a pun? 😂
Not scary at all, no blood, nothing, this movie is one of the most overated movie, SO SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWw it's actually pretty bad, don't know why so many people think this is scary. Aged HORRIFICALLY
its build up for the first 30 minutes then everything happens. thats not slow@@malotielemans3863
also a movie doesnt need blood to be scary, if you think so you're the slow one@@malotielemans3863
"Halloween"(1978) is a horror slasher movie masterpiece, and probably the best movie of all time for this Kind! The ending scene of the movie was atmospheric, creepy and unforgettable!Thereon the imitations uncountable!
Not scary at all, no blood, nothing, this movie is one of the most overated movie, SO SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWw it's actually pretty bad, don't know why so many people think this is scary. Aged HORRIFICALLY
This film was released in a decent amount of theaters in the US in 1978 but then it became such a huge phenomenon that the following year it was in theaters worldwide.
Worldwide huh? Was it a major box office smash in Britain and Ireland?
The Queen of all Scream Queens.
I saw this in tv when I was 7 and was terrified for literal years
The best horror movie ever made
Without a doubt.
Saw:
@@wibble6966hell no saw had influence but halloween brought slashers on top and had brought one of the most well known villains in horror history
@@1of1sai ehhhhhhhhhhhhh if we're gonna talk about slashers i like freddy krueger a lot i guess, still want to watch Scream soon
The shining psycho silence of the lambs the thing, but it’s up there
John carpenter will forever be a genius. Best horror film hands down! So thankful I got to meet Jamie Lee at one of my old jobs ! Such a kind soul and her and donald pleasence acting in Halloween are just impeccable
Things I Love about Halloween 1978
1. Great Writing, Directing and Music by John Carpenter
2. Great Acting from Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence
3. Great Suspense
4. Michael Myers stalking and wreaking havoc for no reason
5. A great ending that was not in any way setting up a sequel.
6. P.J. Soles as Lynda, she is so funny so beautiful and so cute. Just as gorgeous as Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode (see anything you like)
7. It was the acting debut of Jamie Lee Curtis. John Carpenter is to thank for Jamie Lee Curtis' successful acting career. In 2018 she made a comeback reprising the role of Laurie Strode in Halloween Returns, a year later she starred in Rian Johnson's Mystery Comedy Knives Out and in 2023 she won a best supporting actress oscar for Everything Everywhere All at Once
But Michael escapes at the end of course it was setting up a sequel
@@bruceluffman4105 no it was not cause it Wasn't John Carpenter's idea to make a Halloween Sequel. The ending of the first film is suggesting that he could be anywhere it wasn't setting up a sequel which is the reason why i want to pretend that the 1978 movie, H20, and the 2018 trilogy are the only Halloween movies that exist. 5 Halloween movies is better than 13
The only people who think this movie was any good are either on crack or they were kids/teenagers when they saw it for the first time. The last group can be forgiven.
I watched it today and I had to force myself to not stop it after 20 minutes because I wanted to see it all in order to have a correct opinion. It was painfully bad. People talk about great acting. What acting?!? Great writing. What writing?!? There is no story!!
The only great thing about it is the music, indeed.
@@m.dewylde5287 there is no story? Um yes there IS a story. Michael breaks out of Smith's Grove and Loomis is trying to stop him fron wreaking havoc. You obviously didn't pay attention. The film took the time to develop the characters of Laurie Strode. Yes it's not a perfect movie but the whole "there's no story" argument is bogus. I've seen the movie and it terrified me when i first saw it at 18 years old in 2020. Halloween 78 is WAYYY better than some horror movies nowadays i don't care how old it is it's better.
@@m.dewylde5287 Dude it's just their opinions. Don't say that their "on crack" just for having an opinion
Such a timeless classic
2019 and still going strong
2021 too!!
2022 too
Not scary at all, no blood, nothing, this movie is one of the most overated movie, SO SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWw it's actually pretty bad, don't know why so many people think this is scary. Aged HORRIFICALLY
2024!
One of the most iconic horror films of all time.

@@malotielemans3863you just don't understand the real meaning of horror, it's not about gore and bloody kills, it's about suspense!
Great movie! And these old trailers are so scary!
The ONE - The ONLY - The CLASSIC "JURASSIC PARK" - Rated PG-13!
If Michael Myers was a child when he got locked away in 1963 and escaped 15 years later in 1978 I have 1 question.. Who in the hell tought him how to drive a car?!?!? 😆!!
According to imdb, in the novelization, he watched someone operate the car while sitting in the backseat
@@troyandrew6154 That Troy, is exactly how I learned how to drive. I nailed it the first time out of the gate.😊.. Thanx for the info..
It's mentioned somewhere that a member of staff taught him. I can't remember where though!
“Jamie Lee Curtis. In “John Carpenter’s Halloween”.”
It’s Finally Here
Do you guys think Michael Myers is better than Jason?
of course
Mike Lopez yes because it’s Halloween month
If it’s Friday the 13th Jason is better than Michael
Of Course!
Hell yes !
Mike Lopez michael myers is better cause he never dies
The best, hands down. The music was iconic.I don't think it would be nearly as scary but for that music
Who’s already got their tickets for the new Halloween movie? 🎟🎃
HEROSAM12 not me I wish
Me !!!!!
Meeeeeeee
Now another new one! Lol
Happy Halloween To All.
This was true terror when i was a kid brings back memories
she is a classic scream queen she is reprising her role for the last and final time in the 2022 film Halloween ends it has been 44 years.
The score is amazing! This is my favorite Halloween movie... Or maybe Friday the 13th
WORTH MENTIONING… John Carpenter’s “Halloween” (1978) was set in the fictional town of Haddonfield, Illinois. However, all the cars have CALIFORNIAN NUMBER PLATES, as the slasher film was shot in Southern California‼️ 💙🎬💜
Still the greatest. So simple but effective
Classic movie, good trailer, but it kind of shows a bit too much, specifically the chase scene of the final act of the movie, and Bob’s death.
Too much - agreed.
Agree they could have cut out multiple scenes! The one at 1:10 with the girls, the ending chase scene should have been chopped
😱😱😱😱😱The best damn intro in horror ever!!
The scariest thing about this is the film quality
who saw the movie of 2018?
I did
Paulin Vagny I DID!!!!!!!!!
Yes and the original still reigns supreme. It's 40 years old but still as fresh as ever.
Me
+James (Marinaded Tofu) facts!!
I love and care about this movie forever and always
At 0:08 I like the way it opens like that the one the only the classic Halloween
El ambiente de los 70 80 y 90 hermoso algun dia volvere a esas epocas
I’m about to watch this movie for the first time
Masterpiece
A must watch this year.
All time favorite movie
Thanks 😊
What a amazing video ❤
A big part of why this was successful and believable was Donald Pleasance.
Que hermosos ver estos trailers
Watched this movie in 1982 on the first VHS/VCR mt parents ever bought.
I was 7.
I had never been so scared in all of my life, and to this day, that damn maks terrifies me.
This is simply put, a Masterpiece

TFW 1963 was only "15 years ago"
Halloween 1 one of the best Halloween movies
The 2018 rendition was actually really good as well. Not the trilogy, just the first one.
The one the only the classic
HALLOWEEN
You can’t kill the bogeyman
🎃The Best Scary Movie 🎥 🖤Love the soundtrack 😘
If Halloween '78 can keep flashing the title during it's original trailer, so did King Kong 1976. How many movies from the 70s had trailers like it?
For Kaime: focus on mid west, no one’s looking, no one’s there…
Damn.
notice this: they used the same original sound effects in every movie, just with a better quality
Happy 45th Anniversary, Halloween!
Michael Myers ... My hero.
Happy Halloween 🎃.
Phoenix 85008 🇺🇲
It’s so dark can’t see anything people then was like
“who is it what does he look like we can’t see who’s chasing her “
Am I the only 11 year old here 😂
Hate to criticize a classic, but i believe the 1st Halloween should have ended w the beginning scene. Meaning someone should have gone around town doing all these killings & the reveal is that 1st scene of young Michael. Boom. Fade to black then the next movie picks up from there & this movie is actually Halloween 2. I think it would have been even more massive
I'm terrified of anything scary but tbh this isn't scary bc most of it is black screens lol
❤️🔥🎃❤️🔥
I wish there was some place to watch these old horror movies before they were remastered. I think they look and sound much more sinister in this style.
I am really big on historical accuracy in films, especially from the 50s and 60s. When they show the young Michael Myers in the clown suite in front of the house......trust me, no boy had hair that long in the era it is supposed to take place. In fact most schools back then would not let a boy attend with hair that long.
Anyone watching in 2022? Just me 🥴
2023
just ordered the blu ray i hope its as good as friday the 13th
Do Godzilla (1954)plz
What was living behind that boy’s eyes was pure uspiley EVIL i think he come back
I've always been debating whether or not I want to watch this because I'm a huge baby about creepy stuff but at the same time I'm curious 😅

I want to write that my name is Josh Tate and i'm writing that Donald Pleasence said that he would make 22 Halloween films and that he would stop at 22 Halloween films. I'm also writing that it's 2024 and Miramax won the rights to the Halloween franchise. I believe that they should make 22 Halloween films in the Halloween franchise and they should stop at 22 Halloween films in the Halloween franchise.
Myers > Jason
Theres no cheesy jump scare at all!
Just that the women's voices/screams sound a bit awkward.
When I watch that part of that trailer when girl falls down the stairs I think that’s so scary
Please keep the movie Halloween 1978
Who is the voice over and is he still alive or dead
Why does the guy in the 10 first seconds sound like the Black Mesa Announcement System voice?
Black Christmas is actually the original film of this type. Black Christmas deserved the credit Halloween got
I thought I was alone. I might love Halloween more but Black Christmas deserves a lot credit. Without Black Christmas we wouldn't never get Halloween

I wish horror movie goes back to this type , instead of stupid possesed bs that is happening these days.
When you watch the first movie, it makes somewhat sense to think Michael as a sexual pervert. Not the force of Evil Incarnate he would become in the sequels. Yes he is quite unstoppable and mysterious, but look at his actions throughout the film and it makes sense he is a deviant
If only they kept the same mask in all the films except they actually did in Halloween II and Halloween 2018.
