There's something so hauntingly beautiful about the scene where the blood drips out from his eyes onto the mask, and Doc Loomis' sacrifice was ever so selfless. I just don't understand why people didnt like this movie.
Loomis and Myers surviving this is not the fault of this film. Keep in mind this WAS made as a conclusive, this was the intended ending to the Michael Myers story. The only reason they "survived" in part four was so that they could have an excuse to bring the popular characters back despite obviously killing them off in the second movie. I ranted about this not too long ago... box office success and cult classic fame is enough to resurrect anything, no matter how ridiculous. So please, don't blame THIS film for saying they were still alive, because that was not it's intent and it shouldn't be blamed for the result of the later series. As for the stabbing choreography, I'll admit it's a little hammy in places, but for an 80s film, it wasn't all that bad. I'm not trying to sound patronizing when I ask this, I am genuinely asking here, but you do know that the result of Mike's eyes being shot out not only blinded him, but also stunned him a bit right? Keep in mind this evil menace does have some resistance to a lot of trauma, but overall, he WILL have to feel SOME sort of pain. Normally what would kill a human, only stuns or inhibits him. Besides, I wouldn't go as far to say the shooting out the eyes was pivotal to the plot or anything like that, not even really realistic so much, but it DID look cool as hell, and a nice touch to the ending. As far as accuracy goes, I think you DO have a point, we tend to be a little bit TOO forgiving, but it's all a matter of preference and how much each person is willing to forgive. As for the stabbing, it's a reaction to the brain trauma and blinding, notice he doesn't normally swing like that, and now that he does see he's desperately trying to just chop Laurie up, and it's reasonable to do so in these huge exaggerated motions to cover more surface area in hopes to "spray and pray" if you will, but with a scalpel. As for the walk, it suffers from exaggeration as well, but it IS important to bear in mind that Michael was always not a very fast guy, and would be slowed down even further after the eye shooting. If I had to milk more justification for all of this, I'd have to say that Dick Warlock, the guy who plays Michael in H2, doesn't quite have the same walk as Nick Castle did in the original Halloween. It's a bit stunted and slower than usual, which wasn't the only problem with Michael's image and behavior in the second halloween... To each their own, but I am glad at least you voiced your opinion respectfully and civilly, something that is VERY hard to come by these days.
For people wondering why Michael titled his head when Laurie said his name, it probably reminded him of Judith. Before Michael kills her she said his name with the same ton of voice.
I think they had a good thought thinking with practically each Halloween movie there was going to be different stories but it just didn't pan out well. So glad we kept our Michael
Yeah, he surpasses even Cushing in terms of heroism. Great character and let's not forget Donald was essentially a senior citizen making these movies. Not many actors get comebacks so late in life which make them even more legendary in the eyes of a young audience. Pleasence had that distinction.
It was supposed to be which is why Halloween 3 isn't about Michael Myers at all. The creator of Halloween wanted each movie to be about a different horror story that happens during Halloween. The 3rd movie got such a bad reaction because it had nothing to do with Michael that they just brought him back and made Halloween movies strictly about the killer Michael Myers. Fun Fact: after Halloween 2 finished filming, they let the actor keep the mask (a Captain Kirk mask painted white) because they were done with Michael completely and was unable to get it back. They improvised with a different mask for Halloween 4 but the mask didn't look the same and came across a little silly looking.

Fun fact: John carpenter was inspired to create michel myers, when his class took a trip to a mental institution in Kentucky and he saw a young boy with the "most evilest eyes, the devil's eyes", as donald pleasance described in 1978s haloween (original).

I love this movie as well. It may not be as good as the first movie but it's still very creative, ingenious, scary, and the musical scores by John Carpenter and his symphonic band is extremely impressive and original. Real talk.
What makes Halloween 2 work is that it captures the essence of the original and conveys a fluid, floating melancholy like its predecessor. It's not as great of a film (or works as a stand-alone) but it's a great companion piece and it's haunting atmosphere and late night dreamy dread is so clear and precise. The original works on its own but this one can easily be attached to it as well and create a huge three hour film.
I just got done watching 1st,2nd,and 4th. In the second who ever did the soundtrack was on drugs because it blew just like loomy and Mikey at the end, and I'm right because they went back to the original sounds and effects in the continuous 4th. And in my opinion Jason Voorhees should still be that scrawny teenage kid that has rotted and should be missing flesh and have no eyes that drowned, not grow to a full grown man. If that was possible why stop at 6ft 200lbs, why not Andre the giant size and why does the mother of Jason get powers to resurrect Jason when she has already exacted her revenge on the original camp councilors? The Freddie couger story line sucks along with chucky.......................The first Halloween and Friday are the best and most beloved and Michael is the true boogie man.

When I was a kid, the 2nd film always actually scared me more than the 1st. Just more nail biting moments. Wandering the hospital. I knew I never wanted to spend the night at a hospital lol Loomis was really a hero, he was willing to put his own life on the line to stop this madman to save others.

Henry Jackson become a movie reviewer
Great breakdown
I think its pretty weak compared to.the original, nowhere near as good as the original and has laughably bad moments
I always liked it a lot, great sequel to the original and great way to end the story if it ended here (as originally planned).

I love this movie, I really do, but seeing Michael swing that scalpel with the exaggerated "whoosh" is hysterical. The distance between him and Laurie remains the same despite the fact that he was moving towards her in the previous scene, just so Loomis has the time needed to turn on the gas. And Michael knows that Laurie is crouched down, so why is he swinging DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF HIM?
He wasn't just trying to kill her. He was blind. He was probing.

@Galaxi He seems less human and much more robotic in this one than the first to me actually. Michael in the og had this almost playful childish side like hes still that 6 yo trying to relive the murder of Judith through Laurie and her friends.
