I don't know if I left a comment the last time I watched this video, since it came up on my timeline again, I think it deserves another comment. Great shots, excellent grading. I have the Helios 44-2, I use it with my 5D Mark IV and it's awesome. Getting the 6K Pro for my birthday. Can't wait
Nah not for this one. I believe this was just a basic rec 709 conversion, then I just played around with the colors until I found something that I liked, then added some grain.
Should be native resolution on everything but a slight blur across everything to take away some of the sharpness. As well as RUclipss compression as well haha
@@jaceelliottthanx, i watched this video many times. you capture perfect magic between camera, girl, place and yourself behind it. material is now timeless.
It won’t record in 4:3 but you can display frame guides in order to help get the desired composition. Select the monitor tab on your main menu then go to the 4th slide and you’ll see frame guide. You can change it to 4:3 there.
@@jaceelliott thanks man ! When i first saw the shot on resolve i noticed a shark teeth crop bizarre on the ratio top, impossible to erase. Thats why i asked that :)
Hey! I was on 400 iso pretty much the entire time if I remember correctly, and yeah I had to stand decently far back. It wasn’t too bad though in comparison to when I shot the Super Takumar 135mm video haha.
@@jaceelliott nice and when you exposed, we’re you under exposing a bit, how were your false colours and histograms looking? As a new shooter I always try to get perfect false colours, but I feel a bit of blue and purple is fine at times. Curious on your take, and thanks for helping a noob.
@@quiztasiarocks I typically would just expose for the skin tones because getting those right is my priority. I don’t mind a little blue/purple in my shadows. False color is definitely the best tool for the job. A lot of the time though I just go off what I think looks good. Shooting in raw and being able to correct any mistakes in post also helps lol.

Really good work Jace. Some lenses just capture the moment better than others. Subbed
Thanks man! I really appreciate it and totally agree.

Agreed!
Amazing !!What adapter did you use to
Attach the lens to the camera ?? I have a black Magic also and I’ve been looking to get a Helios
Thanks! Just a standard m42-ef adapter, got mine on eBay but they’re pretty simple so I’m sure whichever one you find will work

Nice combo.

Beautiful ❤
Thank you!
How do you get the black bar on your video? Your lens isnt anamorphic mod right?
Not anamorphic, just a png overlay. You can also just change your sequence/timeline settings to your desired aspect ratio
Great job!
Thanks!
great footage, is this cropped or native resolution?

Just added some grain

True
Hey just curious what iso you used for this? Also did you have to stand back pretty far when framing due to the Helios’ tighter focal length?
