We just installed Raft a few days ago, but were a little unsure on how to get started.
Now I feel a bit more secure on how to get it going.

With the introduction of Mystlands I started again after being off for a few months. I haven't started a new map because of all my builds so I need to explore new areas for the Myst areas to be revealed. This mod has really been a motivator for ocean exploration. Cluunky short boat but as I sail I'm constantly thinking about improvements. Mysttlands is more of a bonus if I find it or not. Oh the bed spawn isn't an issue. Every time I stop or way anchor I reset the spawn point. Also there's ship portal straight to base. Which I built near the start spawn.

How did you get the pieces to snap together onto the raft? We can't snap our extensions onto the raft they keep getting messed up and uneven. How do you guys lock it on like that?
Spacebar doesn't seem to be doing anything for me other than taking me out of steering the boat. Can't get my boat to move anymore.
Edit: Just realized I have to be using the mb_rudder not the one that comes installed by default.
5:30 Excuse me, but that boat- *_ship,_* is more fabulous than anything I could put together if I had this mod.
Installed it on my server... but i cant put fires or smelters ect on the boat... whats wrong with that? says "invalid"
i have issues building more after i have moved the ship
, the pieces dont snap together properly, they are of centred about 30% one direction so i cant build as i explore and gather more resources. Any tips?
Can you attach ballistas? If so, you could load it with a Serpent trophy and get auto defense on an encounter.
How do these mods work on servers ? does the person joining have to have the mod installed as well ?

Hello- how do make items interactable in rafts? We cant seem to make it work
You can have bigger sails, you can use the custom sail tool with the hammer. You can do a 4-cornered sail or a triangle sail. It will let you draw the corners of the sail and then it automatically scales the sail, so technically you can have gigantic sail. You can even edit them after placing to recolor them, shape attaching points, upload your own logo into the sail etc. Its a f****g crazy cool mod. Thx!

How did you even get the sail to render? Only the backside of the sail is visible and I've seen no folder for storing custom flag images :/

iTS NOT AN ISSUE... its an amazing mod. Just have at least 1 portal connected from the starting spot to your ship.
Cool havn't played it in awhile. i think the mod that gives you Draw Bridges would be cool to build one on a raft. pull up on shore and drop it down.
Yeah! That's actually such a good idea, I bet the draw bridges would work SO well!
Its a shame that the bed problem probably cant be fixed by mods, but this is still a fantastic experience
How do you make wooden floors foundation
I have had an issue where, after dying on a custom raft boat moored at a swamp, we made a new raft to sail back to get our stuff. When we approached our old mighty vessel, it sunk into the ocean a little bit- then launched 100 feet into the air and landed in the ocean upside down. :|
All that work building an amazing ship for nothing... I wish I could find anything on this.

I watched this video maybe 20 times just to copy your ship design and i nailed it.
I just added a little tweaks to look perfect and it worked.
You should make a tutorial and how to specifically build your ship.
I would 'love' a build guide on this; I tried building it based off the pausing the video / looking at the thumbnail but realized this build 'starts' with going 'up' with additional levels and my build was too close sea-level.
Even if it was just a slower walkthrough of the build so I could recreate it
I cant seem to get the raft to move, i placed it in the water with the rudder attached but it wont move... i tried attaching the mast too and it didnt seem to be connected to the rudder.
Figured out it, I now know what the space bar does on the ship lol. Now I too will use your ship design for inspiration great video.

i cannot seem to get craft stations to work. they are on the bottom level of the boat completely sealed in but it says it needs a roof still so i cant use it
Yeah, floors don't count as roofing unless you add a mod called Floors are roofs, otherwise you still have to use actual slanted roof pieces for crafting benches to work.

I built a ship about 8x larger than this one and increased the wave size by about 4x. Oh boy.
OH BOY. All I did after that is just kept on building the base on the ship and sailing around with the storms.
At such sizes, if a big wave comes and you're at the edge of the ship, it can fling you like up to a 100m up the sky XD

How does it work with the serpents? I'm guessing it's like Ark where they bite at your raft platform core and if that's destroyed then everything explodes but you can put enough junk around it so that it's impenetrable.
Never managed to put enough junk around it in ark. The game is bugged so much they half the times just clipped through all junk like it wasn't there. :P

i have made my ship but i cant place smelters/furnaces on in it like in your ship, did you put stone or something different to place them?
Nope! Anything can be placed on the ship, I'd make sure you haven't accidently disconnected your floor from the raft!
can you play multiplayer with the mod on?

Im having a hard time getting my sails to react like real sails. they just stay in the same Down position no matter what speed i go or where the wind is blowing. Also doesnt seem like speed 2 and 3 dont have any impact on my actual speed. Is it because my sails arent working right? I need some answers lol
Mods a nightmare. We can't even make an interior that recognizes it as an interior. Can't craft, sleep, etc. The sails are naturally very slow raft wise. The greater map discovery mod makes this a little better. But otherwise I mainly see RUclipsrs highlighting their creations but not being able to back it up. Several people I asked to temporarily join to see their ships creation as featured in their RUclips videos bailed. In fact, to date, not one person has provided me or any of my friends in the community proof of building what they claim online. Not one. If you figure it out please let me know. And I'd be down to help you build. Having three people makes building so much quicker.
you can click e on the sails and go into the settings to make them raisable; might fix the issue

Very good presentation! Wonderful info, Just curious if you found any work arounds from the portal glitch. When i teleport back to my ship some times the Steering Wheel, Sails, and Ramps are all disconnected. Also, I can only see my sails in one direction, trying to finagle them is a bit confusing. Just wondering if you had any pointers?

This mod is great - just learning it now. How do you change the setting to ignore building limitations? I can't place fires or smelters on my boat... :/

Fires and smelters can only be placed on stone structures. There are a couple of ways to deal with this:
* Build a stonecutter and replace your ship's wood foundation with stone. You can unlock the stonecutter with 2 iron, so in order to do this you can either progress on land for a while or break wooden doors in Frost Caves (they can drop iron). Once you place some stone floor tiles, you can place wood floor on top to hide the stone. For fires only you can actually remove the stone at this point, but the smelter will crumble if you remove the stone so be careful.
* Install the "Placement Unlocked" mod and put everything on wood
I'm not sure if it's just me and my friends that use this mod, but we've run into constant problems when trying to build a normal functioning hold of the ship. For example the workbench doesn't let you craft because it doesn't recognize the roof, even though there is a roof, and this of course affects the bed allowing you to sleep. So after spending days making the ultimate floating fortress, a single base that would save you ever needing to build more random bases around the world, it's pretty much totally useless, except that it looks cool.
Like the game does not recognize the ships enclosed interior the way it views a houses interior, it basically treats it as if you just have a workbench, bed, etc., placed out in an open field, void of all shelter. We need the game to acknowledge the enclosure as a proper shelter. You know what I'm saying? I see this in chats about this mod everywhere.
Do you, or anyone else that understands what I mean know how to fix this? I absolutely hate how difficult and tedious the building process is in the Minecraft element of this game so this is a major blow considering the amount of time that went into this project.

Generally speaking, the people who report success with this mod also have "Floors are Roofs" installed

Has anyone tried this mod with the new Ashlands release? I cant seem to get it to work.
I generally avoid touching mods with Valheim for a couple weeks after major updates! So much code gets changed it breaks pretty much every mod. Best thing to do is track the ValheimRAFT page on thunderstore to see when it gets updated before trying it!

I trying to find a mod that let me build pieces at different angles to make the ship more aesthetic, cant figure out which one tho. Any suggestion ?
"gizmo" or "gizmo reloaded" whichever is updated latest. It lets you turn the pieces slower if you wish so and it lets you turn the pieces in all the 3 axis not just turn on ground level

As far as I know it works just fine atm! :D Just don't use it with Valheim Plus.

I'm not sure how I can explain how to a build a boat in the comments, but try and use reference material, get an idea from a picture and then try to recreate it!
@@TimoRedbeard no, I don't say how to create the boat, but how do you put the floor on the raft because you ask for the table and the raft turns blue, it doesn't start and that's it
