you are a literal life saver, thank you so much
Hii! If possible, it would be great if your videos had subtitles, because i would understand the video content better. This is because English is not my native language and I am still learning. Thanks for sharing valuable information about webtoons! 😊
You should be able to turn on the auto translate for most of my videos under the settings for the video. Does that not work for you?
@@walterostlie I didn't know I could change the video settings. Now it's working! I appreciate your attention.
@@tiphanysantos6470 ur pretty good with typing english.
id say ur more than just fine
@@blandyblandmin8483 exactly
Responding a year later to tell you that writing and speaking are two COMPLETELY different things. Plus, who says she isn't using Google translate or anything? I agree that she is great with typing it, but hearing is not the same.
Walter ya killing me 😭 I just drew a square thumbnail yesterday without the template
Just use a compressor or a resizer app it would do the job work smart 😂
Your videos are always so helpful, thanks so much for the work you do!
Cheers for the templates! I need to re-do my thumbnails since, as much as I love the image I currently use, it doesn't shrink down as clearly as I'd like. Gotta find some time to put toward that.
omg thank you soooooo much for this tutorial i was so frustrated that it was not taking my webtoon and just putting it in the the file sizes i wanted and all the above you rock thank you thank you.
This was really useful! Thank you for the help!
I planned to upload my comic today but i didn't checked first and made my cover with just the old template. Thank you so much for this video~
Thanks so much for this tutorial! Super concise and helpful!
bros' vids are always so helpful, ty 🤩
Thank you because im starting mine and just figuring out all out
Wow, THANKS A LOT!! That "lowering jpeg quality" solved my problem. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Oh my gosh a video about working in inches would be amazing!!! That’s what I’m working in now and I’m so scared of making assets the wrong size.
Also thank you!!! This was amazing
~Remy
I'll try to do one soonish. However, just think about what merchandise you're going to make and figure what the size is. As long as your inches are the same or more, you'll be okay. Use at least 300dpi. Some people will say 600dpi or more, but I don't think it makes a big difference. The easiest thing to do is talk to the company that is going to make your physical product, they can give you templates for free.
Thanks so much for the video and the free template! Question though, would it be alright to use different images for the square thumbnail and the vertical thumbnail? Like say, since the square one would look best with 1-2 characters only, can the vertical one be utilized for more than 2? Since it's slightly longer and all so there's more space.
It is slightly longer, but the safe zone is still kinda square. All the vertical space is in the danger zone. You could use a different image for sure and most likely that image would be displayed in a larger format to the reader, most likely after they've clicked into the comic's main page, so it could be more detailed for that reason.
Bro!!.. you're a life saver😭😭
Hi Walter? I've been reading Ghost bats for a while and I wanna tell you that I love it. Your art and story is inspiration to me. Also I have something to ask. There's plenty of creators who didn't come from canvas and it made me wonder, how do people contact webtoon to launch their comics? Is it possible to contact them by their Instagram? What standarts do webtoon require from people about their stories and art?
Thank you! You can't reach out to them directly or at least there isn't a systm currently in place.. The editors will usually find you based on work you've already created and put out into the world. Example an editor bought my previous graphic novels at a comic convention. I know other's who made Webtoon Canvas comics and were able to pitch new ideas to Webtoon. You can also wait for them to run a contest and enter. Seems like this happens every few years. Maybe we'll get another in 2022 or 2023. You can try to be a detective and track down editors via twitter and linked in, but I don't know how much they will appreciate that and they may just ignore it anyways. This is my story about becoming featured ruclips.net/video/KWIlGf0cOHM/видео.html
Thank you for this video, I had problems figuring out how to upload the thumbnail because the file was too big and webtoon refused to accept anything under their set thumbnail stantard, but thanks ro your explanation I made it work *^*/
Thank you for this video :) helped alot
Greetings; todays post is just for your algorythm. Cool video as always!
I appreciate you
You are a life saver thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

GRANDE CHINO ME SOLUCIONASTE LA VIDA! TE AMO
I have a question, every time I lower the quality/resolution, the vertical thumbnail says that I need to make my thumbnail 1080 x 1920 even though it's the same image. How do I solve the problem?
thank you thank you thank you!!
When I'm trying to download the templet it tells me that it's not available in my country , can someone help me?
Idk how or what wrong but I can't open it on Adobe for some reason
But what about illustration
Can I ask how to change the cover? I mean I already published it and now I want to change the font😥
I would like to know what app you used to make
Mine just says it's over the 500 KB limit so hopefully this template will help
what do you guys use to draw the characters
Can canvas artist upload these thumbnails too? Or they are only meant for originals?
Can i ask you a question? like i am future webtoon canves creator and i just cant understand how webtoon icon page works how i can put background picture on my profile page ? because all i can is change profile picture:((
Where do I go to draw the thumbnail like what app
I made the size right but it's still showing incorrect size... What's the problem.. Please help me asap... Please
Thank you soo much....
OH MY GODDD- this was a literal lifesaver!
im so confused on the vertical thumbnail i put the recommended size but it says aspect ratio must be 9:16
Which thumbnail is the series thumbnail tho?
You have saved me from the thumbnail struggle! Thank You!
Hi! The video was really useful but still I have a question : when you click on your series and you go to the page of your comic, there is the circle that you upload your thumbnail in it. Thought I was checking other artists and they have a big huge horizontal thumbnail as well. How I can upload that one? I've been searching the internet for two days and still no luck. tnx! ^^
You cant, as far as I know, that one is only accessible to webtoon originals (for the paid artists)
Do you think a series with similar scenes of violence as Invincible be allowed on Webtoon or tapas?
The short answer is yes, HOWEVER, there is a tick you must check in order for your series to be mature in any sense.
If you'd like for me to explain more I'd be more than happy to do so.
How do I get the size ratio? I try to upload my vertical thumbnail and it’s the right about of pixels but it always tells me the ratio needs to be 9x16
Year later, same problem, and I don't understand what should I do, cus u don't have pc 😐
Hi Walter! I know I ask a lot of questions but...I just wanted to know if you think having the exciting incident of my story being on the 4th episode? Thanks! (Also super useful video, I'm about to thumbnail soon so, great!)
the 4th episode is pretty deep into your story before "the thing" happens. It's not against the law, but those first 3 episodes better be engaging. Write a list of the things that happen in episodes 1-3 and the reason why you reader needs to read it. If you can't come up with a good answer, start editing.
@@walterostlie alright! Thanks!
the size for mine keeps on changing the other one i put down
I tried the template but it did come up or show
non of this is working.. i cant download the template?! somebody please help me??!
I am about to Start a webtoon.
I wrote the Skript for the first 3 episodes which are long as hell.
And I just know I will have Problems when I have to do the thumbnail because its a Murder Mystery Webtoon with 16 MAIN Characters... who should I draw on the thumbnail without letting the readers think the character is THE main character? xD
Your content helps me realy good to not make many beginner mistakes, keep the good work up.
Maybe you can draw the person who died on the thumbnail🤷♀ Also what's the name of it?
@@sharlasinanan2868 It will be called Parasite days but it could still change.
Thanks for the tip but I think I just draw the character who looks the coolest, the readers will then probably figure out, in the story that everyone is the main character. Because the thumbnail is more important than the story itself you know. That's why a cool or pretty-looking character should be on the thumbnail.
I don't have a design for the person who dies first yet but if I manage to make them look cool, then they will probably land on the thumbnail haha.
Hi! Well I have a question, so basically I've already uploaded my comic before the vertical thumbline came out..Now is it necessary to make this thumbline or not?
And yeah, that's for discussing this topic, it will be helpful!
It's not necessary, but Webtoon said they will use it in upcoming features, so it maybe be necessary in the future.
@@doidadosgato Thanks for clarifying this thing 😊
Webtoon has updates didn't know, that's great
They are auto-slicing episodes on upload as well.
tutorial tapas pls
bought the template and it failed. maybe the website is having problems ??
Does the thumbnail NEED to have a character in it?
I followed all steps it is still not letting me upload.
I keep getting a notice that my thumbnail is exiding 500k
I don.'t know how to fix that
Helpppp
Hi richard, great video as always. I'm actually having a problem for the past few days. You see, i did the pixels and size and everything right but the file just wouldnt upload. The loading circles spin for hours but its just not getting loaded at all. I even tried to switch to 5 different computers of my friends. Anyone else ever having this problem??
I've been working on 8 chapters of my comic for the past year and a half so i'd have a buffer and now that i'm ready to publish, this happens. Frustrating
might try to find a way to decrease the file size
@@cheesebags4341 its already under 500 kb. Its in jpeg, the pixel size is correct too
Are you using your friend's computers on the same internet? You may have some kind of locks or firewalls on your internet/network/modem that limit upload or really slow down upload speed.
@@walterostlie i tried using another internet network too... doesnt work as well. I'm afraid it has something against my account or something, idk. Right now i gave my files to another friend of mine that has uploading experience before. She's going to upload after her family vacation and i hope she doesnt experience the same😵
WHAT APP IS YOU USING, PLEASE
clip studio paint ex
THANKS, I just donated 1 dollar for the template, although its free.
Wait so I suppose to draw in high resolution file then compress it? Instead of just drawing in 800x10,000 format I'm so confused help!!
Yeah, with high res you can reuse the imagine in other sizes. I draw my episodes with 2400 pixels of width! It's better to shrink the image to 800px than to expand to larger sizes.
You can do whatever works for you. 800px wide is the very minimum resolution you should use, don't go lower. You can draw larger if you want.
I did this like 100 times and it's not working!!!! And if it doesn't work I can't move on!!!
Is it ok to give u 0 dollars for the template? I mean this was very helpful. but im broke. this feels wrong T-T this helps me a lot thank you
yes it was free
noot noot
