Saw them in Eric's in Liverpool around that time at about 15 years-old, and they were fantastic. Crap audio on this, but wow it takes me back. Seriously authentic band, and their tribute to Joe after he died made me weep. Plus it made us get educated about the injustices in Northern Ireland, which most of us Scouse kids knew very little about back then, despite our Irish background. That's what Punk Rock was for, I guess, that wild excitement and education. Thanks, guys, and lots of love x
Ha! There's me in the audience at 0:50 with Tony Vellucci. We were 14 years-old. What a day! Stiff little Fingers performance was ruined by NF potatoes, storming the stage.
The video that this is taken from 'Rough cut and ready dubbed' is a hidden gem. It also includes interviews with Jake Burns of SLF, as well as live tracks by the Cockney Rejects, Sham 69, The Purple Hearts, The Selector et al. In short it contains what later became dubbed the 'post punk movement'. The journalist Gary Bushell later stated that that period, from approximately 78/79 to about 81 was probably more influential on future bands than the earlier 'pure' punk movement.
