I was in a punk band in my youth and we used to cover this one, the bass player had to step in to do the last line "we're gonna blow up in your face" because I ran out of steam with the effort of the fast singing. Great song!
The one constant band in my life. Followed them from 78 through to seeing them in Manchester next year. Seen them so many times over the years. The intro to this song is iconic. If you knew about the "Troubles" and served over there, you'd know what they were trying to convey. . . . They're still inspiring people to this day. Jakes voice is angelic. . . . . In its own way.
Can recommend The Saints, if this style of pure punk floats your boat. The Saints' "I'm Stranded" preceded the UK punk era by a year or two. But their sensational "Know Your Product" is pure punk brilliance
An absolute monster of an album: loud, powerful and proud punk band that weren't just playing at being political as they really had something to say while living in the times of the Troubles in Northern Ireland. An album to played at maximum volume! If you want another perfect punk song then listen to The Undertones: Teenage Kicks...another band from Northern Ireland.
Kia Ora hello from Aotearoa new zealand. Brother I've seen these guys three times since 2007 here in Aotearoa . These guys are my second favourite band ever after THE CLASH. My favourite song is COMPLETE CONTROL by THE CLASH followed by STIFF LITTLE FINGERS version of ROOTS RADICALS ROCKERS AND REGGAE (original by Bunny Whaler).ps my 17 year old son is called STRUMMER CLASH PALACE (palace is my surname)
@@stephenclose8035 have you checked out the links above both bands are friends of mine 3 piece STICKY FILTH(1986-2019) and 2 piece THE MURDER CHORD 2008-20??
I met a fella in Australia Henry... Sean.. he's a chef, evidently went to school with you (no last name, sorry).. not sure but he went out with someone from SLFs sister (?). He worked at my local pub... only struck up a convo cos l was wearing a SLF t-shirt!! This was only 10yrs back. Edit: It was evidently you who steered the band in a 'punk' direction (?). If so, well done!!
Each dollar a bullet live is spine tingling Jake Burns knows how to pore pure angst out in his delivery but for me Roots Rockers Radicals and Reggae Live has been the highlights of going to gigs for over 40 years
I bought this album with my birthday money as a teenager. I have seen them so many times in 40+ times. I was 13 when saw them live I’m 57. Still touring still the best band Recommended you listen to a cover version of a bob marley song. Brilliant live Jonny Was. Enjoy
Hahahah in the backwoods of Northern Michigan with no cable, internet and only 3 goddamn channels until I was about 15, then basically whatever was fed to me via radio & MTV. If it wasn’t in front of me, I wasn’t listening to it. Thankfully and finally I’m opening my rock n roll mind!
Yeah that´s punk, that´s for real. Too many imposters were around back then, too much cr@p circulated. Mostly a fad only the punk era but these guys stood for something at least, great.

It is certainly up there. I was introduced to SLF in 1981. I flew to Belfast from Canada to see them for my first time in 2018. Still rockin’ strong/
They are still on fire 🔥 ah last time i saw them was about 8 years ago
Saw them , June 1981 in Toronto at the El Mocambo. Hot, crowded, smoky, loud and totally awesome.
