I saw this on the dvd bonus bits recently and showed it to my son, who never believed that his old dad was a punk who had met the Clash and been to loads of their gigs. He couldn't deny it after seeing this. This gig ended with the riot you can see on the film. The band were moving further and further back as the crowd advanced until all four of them were on the drum platform. What a night!
Was there too - was 14. It was mental before WR and for a bit outside but most people left and the band came back out to chat to about 40/50 people and sign autographs - thanks to Johnny Green I got my White Riot sleeve signed by all and still have it.
It was me. My mate is on the footage as well. I saw the vast majority of the punk bands at the time. The Clash were by far the best band I ever saw live as Joe was a great front man and Mick was a fantastic guitarist. I still play London Calling. I think there are songs on it like Rudie Can't Fail and Spanish Bombs, which still sound brilliant today. Sandinista varied in quality, probably because it was a triple album. As a double album, it would have been a classic.
I have a Fender electric guitar that I bought over a year ago and am trying to learn to play. Damn, just looking at this video and the band keeping their cool and calming the kids down. The Clash forever...

The crowd always went wild for White Riot but I always loved the Clash version of Police and Thieves. The mixture of reggae and punk was always brilliant and there was no band better than the Clash when it came to playing that fusion.
@matedog2 Hi matedog2 - The reason for that is the Clash re-recorded the sound footage for all the live action in this movie. I seem to remember that there was something wrong with the actual sound recorded on the footage they had and so it was all re-recorded in a studio and made to sound live.
@currylord it good to see young people into the clash ,they seem to command more respect than the music that pre-dated us .i mean i wear clash/ramones t-shirt nowadays ,which i never did `back in the day` i often see young blokes/girls looking and they seem to be thinking `he might be old (i`m 50) but he`s OK.` what other bands did you see in dunfermline i imagine a lot of the bands only played glasgow/edinburgh,were`nt the skids from dunfermline?
