  • Subaru's have always been very charming vehicles. Have they ever been objectively the fastest or most efficient or best looking? Not really. But do they often have character in spades and create huge communities of like minded people? Definitely. Follow along this episode as we take a look at the latest generation Subaru WRX and see if it's still as endearing as the old ones.

    There is no turbo lag.. at all... the shifter is light. Get a perrin barrel knob. The steering is not numb and it blows all the previous wrx models away. Brakes are not mushy at all but they are on the weaker side. The exhaust note is absolutely perfect and balanced. These new engines are bigger and half the boost pressure also the internals are stronger. Welcome to toyota reliability. But you should have stayed on the platform. It is near perfect. There is no other car for 30k that does what this does.

    There is a software update that changed the bottom functions on the screen. Made them bigger and into one touch functions like for the heated seats. Much needed.

    • @lennygarrison6836
      @lennygarrison6836 Год назад +1

      Did the software update alleviate the lag? I believe this lag is due to using an inferior, lower powered chip. And the lag is only going to get worse over time. Along with the abundance of plastic cladding on the exterior, the infotainment system is a huge letdown from Subaru.

    • @krisd636
      @krisd636 Год назад

      I can’t tell with lag. My sample size of one, there isn’t a huge amount of lag. The only thing that bugs me the most is every once in a great while my Bluetooth will disconnect. Sometimes it reconnects n sometimes not until I restart the vehicle.

    Cobb accessport and drunkmann tune. Sharpens it up, more boost, higher redline or 6500.
    Subaru left a lot on the table with this engine. Luckily it was be easily solved for less than $1k in the aftermarket.

    Just got my 22 wrx back after being rear ended by some girl. Back on the road again as the song goes this car is almost flawless and can accelerate, corner, weather road conditions such as potholes or snow, and be very stable at highway speeds with semi-trucks surrounding you. A sports car should be safer and this one is.

    Passed the bike test with what like a bit of a struggle. But that's OK it did pass. Like the manual transmission. Seems like more and more cars today are automatic. Not complaining, I drive an automatic. It's interesting how many people do not know how to drive a stick - missing out on a bunch of driving fun. Always enjoy your channel!

    Man lol I absolutely love this car. I have a limited. much prefer the black cladding. Its the first WRX i’ve ever wanted due to its offroad rally vibe. Those that paint theirs (not that it looks awful), but just makes it look like every other car. I also find the entertainment system super easy to use. Ease of use is one of my favorite things, compared to many new cars over executed hidden options . My wife can even use it and understand where everything is lol (thats saying something). Redline is disappointing but the drive and performance is great. Only issue i have with the car is its manual is a bit notchy and fisher price toy like. I gotta upgrade it.

      Agreed. Its also more unique than many other WRX gens that shared tons of body panels and parts as the Impreza. This is probably the most unique wrx as many other gens are just Imprezas with a turbo. This car looks like no other Subaru in the lineup and is built on its chassis designed just for the wrx.

    In NYC, Geico charges 500 dollars extra per year to insure this car (liability only insurance) vs. a Honda Civic.
    That's kind of a bummer.. I don't mind paying more for gas but for someone who drives very defensively and has never had an accident ever, this does sit right with me.
    That's not Subaru's fault of course.

    When you buy a car you buy it to keep it for 5-10 years or life .
    Subaru's ( WRX former owner ) inherent engine design, starting from the block full of aluminum honeycombed holes to save metal (they claim is for reducing weight, lol) means cracks in the cylinders, its pistons are non forged and bad quality, the valves laid down with the headings horizontal mean seepage of oil which is constant and cannot be remediated, as well as dry oil pans at times.
    Also annoying is the engine placement forwards of the front axle plane which results in terrible understeer from a high polar moment. The car feels heavy, its torque is mid high, whereas , say, a GTI has a great low torque delivery and feels/corners nimble, merits of having its engine behind the front axle plane.
    In conclusion, Subaru is not a brand for everyone, the constant repairs are annoying and the car's flawed design and performance is irritating, I'll try a subaru again when and if they go electric.
    Having said that the car looks great in that orange color. The outer rim area with the black plastic suffered a lot of chips and paint scratches so they did a great job with the black rims to protect it, painting it would defeat the purpose , enveloping it might be a better idea.

      I love them for 2-3 year 30kish mile beaters. I'll never purchase first model year, get base models when doing finance specials last one got 1.9%. Trade in for a new one barely lose any money maybe $2k at most. Don't over modify I have e30 tune around 330hp, pilot 4s, more camber, stoptech pads, braided lines, and motul fluid. Take advantage of michelin tire warranty 30k mile to get new set every 15k half price. Change oil every 2k miles because way I drive use some and smells like straight corn

      The FA24 has much better pistons and rods than the fa24 and can handle up to 500wtq. The weight displacement is much better than any other car in it's price range. The car feels heavy at low speeds but as soon as you get going it feels very light. A tune makes the car come alive and with only an intake and tune, mine makes 330whp with torque spiking up to 380 at 3000 rpm.
      It seems like most of your problems are with the previous generation and haven't given the new one a try.
