  • Here is how to get access to the top of your engine in any 981 Cayman with a hard top. I have a GT4 so the principal is the same with the rest of the hard top 981's.

Took my Cayman for its first smog test and the Tech said that I needed to show the engine for visual inspection. Luckily found your video. This was very helpful, but I would mention where the small anti-squeak rubber pieces need to stay attached to the plastic covers. Some of mine feel off when I was detaching the covers and fell into the small holes.

Did Porsche really make garages do all that every time they need access to the top of the engine?
There’s a video of a guy removing the metal engine cover to see what it sounds like and the only thing he does first is pull away the carpet covering it.

    • @gtmachine6134

On my generation and the newer 982/718 you have to remove all those components to get it out. I guess If you want to cut the carpet you would only have to remove the 1 panel.
