How to make progress in life: 1 - Develop a vision (imagine/visualize where you want to be); 2 - Weaponize your attention (focus on what you want and like to do); 3 - Surrender/submission (don't fight to do what you have to do, just relax and try it step by step).
As someone with ADHD, I appreciate this comment. While it doesn’t define who we are, ADHD is the opposite of focus so fulfilling one’s vision often seems impossible. There were a couple points in here that I’m gonna lean into while still sticking with medication and therapy. Good luck to you!
As someone with ADHD The knowledge of what he said is great but it’s the freezing with short term pleasure that stops us Knowing this won’t change your life Doing it is the only way
I never comment on RUclips videos, but I had to for this one. I've been watching your content for years and seeing how much your channel has grown in that time is so great to see. The quality of your content is so captivating, engages me right to the very end (which is rare!) and avoids all the waffle that so many videos have. There's no BS, you get straight to the point but you still manage to film cinematic, well scripted (and often comedic) videos that also feels very much like you + your personal work, not copying what everyone else is doing. You make self-improvement sound less daunting and much more like a journey to get excited about, not one that exhausts me before I even start. Your ideas are simple but effective, and watching your videos makes me feel like I can achieve my goals without feeling like I have to join the toxic productivity cult to do so. Create your vision, focus your attention on that vision, and learn to surrender to the task at hand. May your channel continue to shine, Joey! Keep doing what you're doing. You're helping a lot of people :)
Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future.., I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life!!
Starting early is simply the best way of getting ahead to build wealth , investing remains a priority . I learnt from my last year's experience , I am able to build a suitable life beause I invested early ahead this time .
The rich Invest in alternative income streams that are independent of the government should be the top priority for everyone right now. especially given the global economic crisis we are currently experiencing. Stocks, gold, silver, and virtual currencies are still attractive investments at the moment...
I thought about investing in the financial market, I heard that people make millions if you know the tricks of the trade, but I lack good knowledge and a strategy to outperform the market and generate good yields. I have $160,000 but it's hard to bite the bullet and do it.
Having an investment advisor is the best way to go. Based on a direct encounter with a CFP named Kate Elizabeth Amdall, I can say with certainty that their skills are excellent. She helped raise over $580,000 in 18 months from an initially stagnant portfolio of $150,000
Your part about creating a vision was so good that I had to do it before even continuing the video. Specifically for me, a short-term vision. I often get lost chasing my long-term goals. I'm a very ambitious person, I pretty much know what I want in life, and I know I'm more than capable of achieving it. The only thing holding me back it trying to chase the end goal too soon. It becomes overwhelming and ultimately stops me from making any progress at all because the thought of starting, knowing that I've got so much to do, is a daunting prospect.
I actually managed to get out of the rud lately in my late 20s after nearly 10 years of procrastination. Turns out I just needed accomplishments to kickstart my mood, motivation and hope, to fuel my self confidence and my will to move forward. I accomplished more in the last year than in the 10 years before that. Surround yourself with good people, put yourself in a good mood and keep going. I'm just at the beginning of my journey but its great to feel that amount of power running through my body.
i am 22 now and running late in life than my friends and other people of my age in general, this is taking a toll on my confidence. It's not that i am not doing things to change my life for good but i feel like i am not doing enough, i struggle to study for few hours and i feel entitled to my goals just because i have written them. I feel really left behind today and everyone is going ahead of me. I have left social media long time ago but it doesn't mean that now i will surely reach my goals. I was having good routine for a week from which i got side-tracked today, i hope i get back on right track today quickly. This video again re-emphasized the idea of having a vision in life. I am gonna do that hopefullly. And there's a girl that wants to meet me ( i also wants too ) but i am not really confident in my life in general coz of those things i wrote above and i strongly believe that this is not the right time for me to meet girls or make gf and i should just disappear for a year to change my life for good and to build a strong identity that resonates with me and makes me feel like *YEAH, THIS IS THE REAL ME*
Your emphasis on the importance of having a vision resonated with me deeply. It's a gentle reminder that without a compass, it's easy to get lost. And yes, attention is truly our most precious currency in this age of distraction. Your point about surrender, allowing ourselves to truly feel and not be burdened by external circumstances, is a perspective that I hadn't considered deeply before. It was refreshing. 🐺
...and no wind seems unfavorable. - I'd add, since when you have no purpose, you waste tons of your time on things that would seem insane otherwise. Like watching videos whose content will be forgotten 2 days later. 😅
The snippet that you edited in, explaining what submission is, is an absolute gold nugget. I struggle to do what I know I need to do on a daily basis at my job. I have this intense physical reaction of clenching my feet and my stomach tightens. I feel like I want to do anything but what I have to do. It's really reassuring to hear that other people also feel a resistance and having faith in the process will actually help. Thank you sincerely for this video, and particularly that part. It really spoke to me.
Oh Gawd, it's so bad when it actually gets physical. Aside from the pit in the stomach, my hands get cold and my hearts speeds up a good amount. It's almost like an allergic reaction to things that are eventually helpful to you. Brains can be real dicks...
@@burrenwaffet7742 I’m an active watcher of this gentlemen, I can appreciate the video before and after watching it, this guy only puts out BANGERS 🔥🔥🔥
The lack of vision is truly why I've felt so lost in these last two years. Staying in the same place, same job, and therefore same thoughts just leads the same days. I'm just having trouble figuring out my next but realise that the more thinking I do, the more time continues to pass. It's so frustrating when you don't have a clearly defined desire
I recently created a new channel (this one) on my RUclips account in order to get a different feed of videos - reserved only to productivity content. It’s hard not to feel motivated when I open it and pick something to watch. Works especially well when I have a dip in motivation and reading my productivity journal isn’t enough. Hearing a positive message from someone else gets the gears turning a lot better for me. I also applied this to instantly see content in languages that I’m learning so that there’s nothing in my way - except for switching channels. The path of least resistance is my favorite path. And I still have my other channel where I watch all the entertaining stuff when I want to relax. But it doesn’t distract me when I don’t want it. I don’t know if anyone will see this comment but maybe someone else would like to try it 😆
The way you're able to express yourself in the ending where you're talking about what submission is is really admirable. Even with no cuts and fancy edits, your speaking and presentation is really concise and the information is valuable. Great video :)
I think at base level all people benefit from having their own respect, if you really are at step zero and you need to get out of a bad spot, stop doing what makes you feel good in the moment but do what makes you respect yourself more and you should find yourself on the right path for the first time in a long time
Was actually thinking about your channel today Joey. I'm 28 & lost, feel like a complete loser with no sense of direction & I feel behind in life. But deep down I know I can do better. I just don't know what the 1st step is. I just hope it's not too late to turn my life around & make something out of myself. Thanks for the video man, cheers 🙂
I'm 25 and I feel the same man... and I have no idea what to do... but I guess our first step is creating our vision of what we want and feel it in the now and things might get better... God bless us all ❤❤
Its not too late for you at all! Start with the small daily routines. It sounds easier than it is somedays. Get them down. Try again every day. Eventually you will develop a sense of order for yourself and your surroundings. Clean up your space, make room for yourself instead of your baggage. And as time goes, try and pick up another thing to include in your daily life. Then another one and so on. But take your time. Consistency is more important than the amount of stuff you are doing. One day at a time. It is stupid what you can do in a year, let a lone in two, three or five. Start small, keep at it and you will get there. I know you will. Now is not the time to give up, I believe in you.
Hi, Alex. I'm 45 and I could have written exactly what you wrote. I could also add that this is not just another phase of mine... this have been my whole life. At 40 is where I saw and felt all the possibilities that I could have after following some testimonies of adults ADHDers. I guess I just started to know who I am and who I have been, connecting all the dots ever since. More 5 f-years have passed and, you know, things are only getting worse by the minute. Everything will get worse if you keep doing the same things! (an obvious lesson that it is hard for us to understand). I guess everything comes to what Joey is saying: action is the key. Everybody is talking about it. Even sports people are wearing it! It's the most dumbly obvious thing to follow... and yet we struggle to do that. And with hardships we start to focus on the worst things, we derail from the things we should be doing, like Joey said we start dreading it (we choose "flight" instead of "fight" because it is easier) and we all crumble. Everything is so heavy to "lift" now. But this is it. Not only action is the key but it is also the way to lighten the burden of ages. I believe in what he said: then things start to be more enjoyable to engage after we submit ourselves to our things. I heard someone say something similar: dare to dream, embrace your dreams, put them on paper, and turn them into reality. If you don't put your dreams into action... be sure that's why dreams will never come true. Obvious again. So simple yet so hard. Let's do that, my friend. And please don't let yourself sink deep into the ages like I am in, you know? Don't let yourself be 45 the way I am. Wish you the best 🫂 Stay strong 💪
Excellent and informative video, Developing a proper "vision" is one of the greatest keys in life simultaneously with "plan". Every successful people must have a great vision and plans. Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future. Putting our time and effort in activities and investments that will yield a profitable return in the future is what we should be aiming for. Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. "You're not going to remember those expensive shoes you bought ten years ago, but you will remember every single morning when you look at your bank account that extra 0 in there. I promise, that's going to be way more fun to look at everyday", I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life too.
Successful people don't become that way overnight. most people see at a glance-wealth, a great career, purpose-is the result of hard work and hustle over time.
You're right, you've remind me of what someone once said "The mind is the man, the poor is in it and the rich is it too". This sentence is the secret of most successful investors. I once attended similar and ever since then been waxing strong financially, and i most tell you the truth..investment is the key that can secure your family future.
Thank goodness you brought this up! Truly, investing has changed my perspective on how one can succeed in life; working multiple jobs isn't the optimal way to attain financial freedom and unfortunately, we discover this lately in life. Currently I earn as much as 10 grands weekly and this has improved my financial life.
Wow, congratulations on your impressive investment success! Your discipline and focus on delayed gratification is truly inspiring. I'm curious, what are some of the key factors that you consider when making investment decisions? Do you have any tips for those of us who are just starting to dip our toes into the world of investing? Thanks for sharing your story!
That surrendering feeling you describe at the 8:00 mark makes me think of the feeling I use to get during the last day/Friday before Christmas, and summer breaks during school. Also, to a lesser extent, that feeling on Friday when you’re walking towards your car in the parking lot to leave for the weekend. Another thing that gives me that type of feeling is when I use to occasionally buy a lottery ticket, and discuss with friends what it would be like to win. It’s hard to actually describe, but it’s that at ease feeling where it seems like everything is working out perfectly and flowing smoothly, and you can put everything stressing your mind(obligations) in the back of your head for a bit. Unfortunately this feeling rarely lasts longer than a couple of days in my experience. I’ve been told that some drugs, specifically cocaine, and meth can simulate these feelings for some. Shoot, I’ve experienced where caffeine taken at the right time can give you a mild sense of this phenomenon. It’s very interesting.
I think you've just described the process of manifesting. It's great to hear it without the woo woo connotations! Your description of the tree and the outer branches being a physical outcome from the growth of the trunk was perfect!
Here are bullet-points: Crafting an Inspiring Vision - Develop a specific, detailed vision for your ideal future life 1 year from now - Focus on how you want to feel and who you want to become more than material success - Ensure your vision is emotionally compelling and exciting to you - Write down the specifics to clarify your vision and keep you motivated Harnessing the Power of Your Attention - Direct your attention purposefully towards your vision to turn goals into reality - Be aware of where your focus goes and guard against distractions - Treat your attention as precious by being selective about where it goes - Align your thoughts and energy with your core vision for maximum traction Surrendering to the Process - Access desired emotional states like calm and empowerment in the present moment - Take action with faith before you feel ready and disregard limiting beliefs - Allow yourself to relax into inspired action instead of forcing it - Progress comes from surrendering to the journey rather than controlling the process
This seems like actual advice from a really genuine friend, i know you also dont know everything in life. But your advice is just genuine and it actually usually works for me, so your videos are always worth my awareness. Of course i need to progress in self control and temperance, but ye cold turkey is never the way its always about forming better healthier habits until you can break free and stay healthier mentally and physically
Joey you're the only RUclipsr that makes a lot of sense for me. You're so clear. Most of the RUclipsrs just blab about the same shit all the time with different background sounds and clothes and shit 😂 you the realest ❤️🔥
I used to be an addict. Been clean for 10 yrs. I say that to say I’ve had a lot of therapy yet your videos are so eye opening in a way I’ve never really heard before. Please keep them coming 🙏
The most difficult thing and hard when it come to changing your life, 'glowing up', finding yourself is that you have to be honest with yourself, face your demons and nobody will help you 'cause they can't...
The fact that he pointed out that we felt a piece of what we wanted to be, was actually really eye opening. I was sitting at my desk at work and felt what I wanted and a few minutes later he pointed it out.
Man, this really hit home for me today. This sums up so well what I’ve come to realize recently and this approach absolutely works. Even in the short-term, as you mentioned, you *feel good* doing the stuff you’ve been resisting. It strangely becomes easy. Thank you for this, and your content in general. You’re one of the good ones without a doubt.
Love how you address the often ignored internal cues of feelings. It really is called flow, because that's just how it FEELS. You let go of the blockage that boring old logic creates and you express the vision you've created. Less tension on the dualistic nature of things, and more focus on (what you consider) positive outcomes.
There’s a good analogy for this. Anybody that has ever done a rail grind on a skateboard/bike/snowboard/skis/etc, heck, even just walking on a balance beam, knows that you need to look at the end of the rail to stay on it. If you look at your feet you will fall off. So when you have a vision (what’s at the end of the rail), and you keep your attention on the vision, you are less likely to fall of the rail. Inevitably you will fall regardless about where you look, but the more you get back up and try again and keep your eyes on the end of the rail, the quicker you will grind that rail all the way to the end.
I genuinely feel like this was the video i’ve been looking for. The way you explained submission at the end made everything click. Also, how you explained us doom scrolling in search of the feeling that can only be found by not procrastinating. I’m gonna work on my designer clothing brand now.
I think the reason why you make such good videos (like this one!) is because you express yourself in a sincere way and give sensible ideas that people can actually use. What you convey in this video may be obvious, but it helped me create my plan and helped connect the dots to current hurdles in my life
Grant me the serenity, to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things & the wisdom to know the difference = surrender & do it. Great video man 👍👏
Excellent video. To add, something that really helped me not procrastinate and worry was to not be outcome dependent. I got it from the Stoic principles that I only have control over my mindset and my actions. Even if I work hard and dedicate myself, my goal still might not be reached, and that’s ok! It’s about the journey, not the destination. Tldr, let go of ALL outcomes. Be mindful. 🧘🏽♂️
00:28 🌟 Develop a clear and exciting vision for your life to gauge progress effectively. 02:54 💡 Focus on how you want to behave and feel, not just on material possessions, when crafting your vision. 03:23 🎯 Recognize the power of attention; it's the driving force toward your goals. 05:16 🔍 Be mindful of where your attention goes; it fuels your journey towards your vision. 07:42 🤔 Surrender to the feeling of being who you want to be now, as it guides your actions towards your desired outcomes.
I really struggle with the last point. Ive nailed the first two suprisingly intuitively but i have depression pretty bad mixed in with plenty of other mental challenge making it really hard to surrender to the process. Lately before even watching this video ive been stuck in this cycle. I'll be relaxed, happy and taking things step by step at my own pace. My mom calls, lays on expectations and deadlines even though im an adult, i try to explain why this isnt productive, get gaslit and then the next week is completely unproductive. Im unable to even relax or play games, i just sit all day staring at a wall or at my computer screen trying not to beat myself up for failing to do anything. Even relax. Its to the point where i consider cutting her off, but for fear that she might hurt herself, i cant do it. To be clear im not holding onto a victim mentality or anything, i just felt like venting because obviously it just happened again. Ive pushed myself through worse things that have happened to me and the long term damage to my mental and phsyical health taught me to no longer just "robot" my way through it. So im just really frustrated that ive reached such a point in my personal development and the people who are supposed to be my biggest supporters and caretakers are the ones dragging me down. Thank you for this video. It reassures me that im on the right path. Therapy hasnt really helped me, but hopefully this is the last time i need to vent this week before turning things around. Maybe this weeks a bust. Guess ill see
Just a random person on the internet here, but don’t dismiss therapy too soon. If you can afford it and you find a therapist you click with, it will work. In your case, since it’s related to people who’ve been so close to you for so long, it might take a few years to become your own independent person, but you will get there. Also a therapist is not a miracle worker, they’re more your support buddy, someone who you can check in with while you do the work. Obviously you can also do it on your own.
Maybe if you can't cut her off, try to distance yourself emotionally and stop telling her about your most important goals? Maybe it will help to manage it
You may think i have no right to tell you anything about you and your mom because we don't know each other, but, don't say she is dragging you down. She is your mom, she took care of you and i'm sure she always want you to be well and happy. She will not be here in this world forever, and when she goes, you will miss her a lot. So take good care of her, as it will be good to you too.
@@diego04no. Some parents are harmful. Just as you say she is your mom and you should feel this way about her you should also realize that he is her son and she should feel this way about him. And that is to encourage not gas light. I think there are some people when their parents died There They Mourn they absolutely mourn and there are other people that when their parents die they go and they salt the grave and nail the coffin shut. You never know who's doing what I think a good therapist might be a better solution
This channel helped me a lot when I was in school.Started with part time at Best buy living in my grandparents spare room with 9 other family and hating where I was. Now (only a couple years later) I have a good relationship, my first house (which I love 😍) and job I'm happy at (ya there's days but in general I don't want to go elsewhere). All that to say it is possible. Even if it seems like the whole world is against you. It can happen.
I always love watching your videos, it is so inspirational. I wish I could just follow your better ideas. I mean, I COULD do it. But sadly the motivation usually falls off pretty fast, and I m back to despair. In a video game, we see our progress so clearly. It's obvious. But in life, i can barely see if i m going towards my goals or just straight backwards. So obviously my mind tells me that I m just making one step forward two step back. And then here I am, back to my self destructive routine, hating myself and my whole life. I think this time I will track my progress a lot more. I don't know how, yet. I know its just another random comment on a RUclips video, but it feels good to vent out somehow. Anyway, great video as always. Thank you
You never see the things you do not measure get a chart from the dollar store create one write a big goal right the performance indicators that will lead you there adding a piece of motivation and look at it every morning write down your progress every morning track it every morning and see if you improve if you improve a little go back to your kpis and increase them if you approve a lot keep going at the end of the month take it down start a new chart at the end of 3 months look at your charts you will see Improvement it will take discipline but make it big make it hokey make it the first thing you see in the morning and the last thing you see at night that is your focus and watch your world expand. Good luck!
Another great video! These sorts of messages reiterate some of the conversations we've had with people... and really how small little changes or improvements to your life can equate to significant change in the future.
Hey joey ive been watching your videos since i was 13 now im almost 16 and youre like the only one who've helped me a lot to improve myself cuz people in real life, people my age never talk about these stuff. You are like an older brother i never had please keep making content🔥
Keep going! If you stared improving your life so early, you are going to have a very good life in the future. Listen to yourself and get what you really want in life :)
The thing for me is: when someone spends so much time of his life not feeling this feeling you describe, it can also feel quite terrifying to feel this feeling for a longer period of time. When I feel like that it feels like my heart is pounding and I am sort of overwhelmed by a mix of joy and anxiety. It feels like I am on a moving train that goes in the right direction, but at a speed that I don't feel comfortable with. A speed that makes me feel like I could lose control over the train and derail at any moment. So it isn't always easy to relax into it, but I try. Thank you for the video!
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 🌌 Vision Development - Developing a vision is crucial for making progress in life. - Without a clear vision, it's challenging to gauge progress. - Most people lack a detailed vision and rely on vague societal expectations. - Create an exciting, detailed vision for yourself that goes beyond material possessions. 03:14 👀 Power of Attention - Understanding and leveraging your attention is essential for success. - Human attention is a valuable resource in today's world. - Your attention is the vehicle driving you towards your goals. - Focus on your vision and avoid distractions to gain traction in your life. 07:24 🔄 Surrendering to Your Vision - Surrendering to your vision is the final component for progress. - The feeling you want to achieve is available to you at all times. - External circumstances follow the authentic feeling of being yourself. - Surrendering or submitting to your vision involves relaxing into the steps necessary to achieve it.
From a mental health perspective, the surrender to the process really resonated with me as I find that if I get worked up trying to accomplish something rather than relaxing and enjoying the process, I'll have worse outcomes.
for a content creator to finally say that 'yes i want your attention and my stuff does better with you watching it, but i want you to go do your own thing'. YES. +1 for sure
Joey, when I started following your channel (back when you had like 10k subs) I was constantly watching self-development content without really getting better at anything myself. Now, and for a while now, your channel is the only self-help channel left in my algorithm and I feel you have kind of become a mentor of mine. Recently, most days have been good days and when they're not, I at least know what's wrong, and though I feel like most things have just fallen into place for me, your videos always remind me to continue down the path I'm on right now. Thanks mate
Outwitting the devil is like in my top 5 favourite books of all time. Super deep read. I’ve been reading it on and off since 2019. Definitely some of it is unhinged but a lot of it is really true stuff that can change the way you look at everything. Great read. Great video :) thanks man.
Don't waste your time with superficial pop b.s. and go straight to good philosophy: Ayn Rand and Leonard Peikoff. Objectivism. Try her novels first to see if you have a predisposition for it: Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead
Been watching your videos for the past 5 days, and the feeling is like having a psychologist friend tells me things i should have realized. Not a motivator, but like a friend.
Thank you. I’ve been stuck for days, weeks, months and today felt right for the right reasons. Today felt good even. It’s not like I was I completely in the dark or that I have been forced to stay at unproductive and overwhelmingly sad pattern but for whatever reason it all dislodged for the better. One step for the better at a time.
is there a simple way on focusing on one thing? I want to become a UI designer or just a graphic designer, sometimes I wish that my painting hobby could make me money to live off it, other times I wish I could make music… How do I choose the right thing? I’m 26, got a shitty job, I feel tired and don’t really know what to do. Could you make a video around this topic?
26, next month i start GED classes and a month after that ill be taking the exam, after that i plan in joining the marines for 3 years and hopefully get some plumbing experience while im there, then if the GI bill still exists by then ill try to get in trade school/apprenticeship which apparently former military get priority to enroll then be an apprentice/jounrneyman for 8 years and then become a self employed residential plumber, thats the plan anyway...the end goal is just creating a family, cant do that broke I had the perfect girl ever, she was absolutely in love with me the same way i was with her, all she was asking of me was for me to get an apartment so we could live together and then get married since shes christian, unfortunately i was dirt broke, im not going to let it happen again Any tips/advice is greatly appreciated

I started to use pen and paper and leaving my phone in other place, and my efficiency and clearness in mind is boosted. The problem with today, that most of work we do on mobile or laptop, but a lot of distractions are there. Also it is difficult for example to browse through your notes on digital, but much easier on paper. So I recommend to revert back to papers ;)
Super helpful advice and i experienced the same. When I don't use my phone or use a blocker to block all the distractions, my productivity is 100X compared to when I don't
This video finally came up for me today, at the perfect time. I've been a subscriber for a while and today of all days, I have been figuring out my vision and this video has helped reinforce that idea even deeper into my brain. I may lose my relationship because I haven't had a clear vision nor focus. Although, at the same time lately, I have been thoroughly enjoying creating some simple graphic designs, so it feels like in some way, these 3 key points to make progress are happening right now to me. Although, it can certainly be refined and be more exact and orderly. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this ! I was going through an existential crisis, not wanting to do much. But after watching this video I now want to get my life together and I'll comment in few months for a progress update !!! Thank you thank you so much.
Good doctors heal you, so that you don't have to come back over and over again! Very few content creators tell you that if you get their content right you won't need to consume more and more of it, you'll be "healed" as such. This is why this channel resonates so well with so many people, because your content is always genuinely trying to help people!
Yikes, I guess you didn't give your comment much thought. 1. Nearly every self-help guide will tell you that it's "the last one you'll ever need!" He's not unique in saying that you don't need his content if you do it right. 2. By your own very definition, considering that he has millions of subscribers (i.e. people that want to come back), he's not a very good doctor. Also, a bad doctor will also tell you that this will cure you, despite knowing that it won't. 3. As much as I enjoy his presentation style, the underlying message is really basic stuff, pulled from self-help 101. "Visualize who you want to be"s - This idea in verbatim is *at least* 100 years old, and similar ideas of how the mind shapes your world have been around for thousands of years. Again, I like his content, but I'm not going to start making analogies to a doctor. His channel, whether by design or not, is dependent on people coming back for more content, so if his content were truly something that "heals" people so they don't need any more "treatment", his channel would fail. Considering that his channel continues to grow... I'd liken him more to a snake-oil salesman than a doctor, albeit one that doesn't oversell his product nor sells anything harmful. His underlying message is technically true - If you can just do what he says you should do, you'll be successful. The key is that he knows very few people will actually follow through on his vague instructions, so they'll have to come back for another "how to improve your life" video.
@@no-nukez Well good for you for giving my 10sec comment "so much thought". I suppose we all get different messages from content at different times of our lives. I find his content very helpful, unlike some other creators.
I realize that whats keeping me from reaching my goals is my lack pf submission typically i take a long time planning and strategizing on a system (habits) to improve my life, but as soon as i start them i already pivot leading to replanning the entire system. If i would just follow through without requestioning everything all the time i would be much further in my life.
I needed this much more than you could actually imagine. I’ve stumbled across your videos here and there but this one resonated with me so well. I have a bunch of goals, and currently feel unfulfilled. I’m not gunna bore you with the details but thank you so much for uploading this.
Hey you ought to give a shot listening to Joe Diszpenza I was in similar shoes as yours. Things have started to move for me after following his school of thoughts about silence and an empty mind@@MarcusConnelly-w2n
Damn! 4 minutes in and I love the video. I'm gonna watch this like 5x over but I really just wanted to say you have a very good intellect. I love your point about human attention being the most valuable resource!
Woah, I've been subscribed to your channel for a long time, I think you had 1K subscribers when I first subscribed... Not watched a video for a couple of years and now.... 2.5 million! Amazing work!!! This is great to see!
I think you really helped me with this part about weaponizing your attention cause i really struggle with knowing what i want but when i feel deep inside myself i hear it clear what really always get‘s my attention thank you!
I stumbled upon your channel a few months ago. Maybe 5-6. I've watched just 6-7 videos of yours from then. Almost every video I have seen of urs has been something I already kinda had an idea about, but you've articulated everything in such a simple and effective way that I understand everything, and I can get everything in my system at the time I see the video, and then I don't see another video for a few weeks. Then I see one again and the same thing happens. I know it has something to do with where I am in my journey in life, and the commonalities we might share, but watching your videos have been very helpful in me being able to articulate my thoughts and applying those thoughts effectively in life. Cheers. 🧑✈️
I don't know how, but just watching this video makes me feel so confident. My back is straight and my shoulders are open. I feel like a human and not that miserable creature, that I used to be. All my problems suddenly become so small and totally solvable. Thank you!
Thanks, that video was pretty helpful. Don't give up on the idea of submission or surrender. The human mind is a complex place. It can be difficult to describe ideas and feelings in a way that's meaningful to people, but I think that just relaxing into the tasks you may not feel like doing in the moment, but which serve your vision is a good thing to talk about.

1 - Develop a vision (imagine/visualize where you want to be);
2 - Weaponize your attention (focus on what you want and like to do);
3 - Surrender/submission (don't fight to do what you have to do, just relax and try it step by step).

"Develop a vision that's more exciting to you than the pleasures that surround you". For someone with ADHD, this is near life changing. Thank you.
As someone with ADHD, I appreciate this comment. While it doesn’t define who we are, ADHD is the opposite of focus so fulfilling one’s vision often seems impossible. There were a couple points in here that I’m gonna lean into while still sticking with medication and therapy. Good luck to you!

Great comment, thank you for making it
Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it.
She helped raise over $580,000 in 18 months from an initially stagnant portfolio of $150,000
Fantastic! can u share more details?
What r d things u did??
E
It wasn't your time before, now it is.
Are you me? This is my goal this year.
10 years of procrastination. I can empathize so hard with that. Dang.
It's like I was living but not really alive
i am 22 now and running late in life than my friends and other people of my age in general, this is taking a toll on my confidence.

I don't know how I want to feel.
Start with how you don’t want to feel
I think at base level all people benefit from having their own respect, if you really are at step zero and you need to get out of a bad spot, stop doing what makes you feel good in the moment but do what makes you respect yourself more and you should find yourself on the right path for the first time in a long time
😆
I'm 28 too, and I feel just the same. 😔
28 and in the same boat brother. We got this though!
"The feeling that you want to feel is available to you at all times."
It feels just so good when you manage to get things done. Specially things which bring yourself forward.
Obviously I don't really trade myself, I have a good financial advisor who guide me.
Here are bullet-points:
Crafting an Inspiring Vision
- Develop a specific, detailed vision for your ideal future life 1 year from now
- Focus on how you want to feel and who you want to become more than material success
- Ensure your vision is emotionally compelling and exciting to you
- Write down the specifics to clarify your vision and keep you motivated
Harnessing the Power of Your Attention
- Direct your attention purposefully towards your vision to turn goals into reality
- Be aware of where your focus goes and guard against distractions
- Treat your attention as precious by being selective about where it goes
- Align your thoughts and energy with your core vision for maximum traction
Surrendering to the Process
- Access desired emotional states like calm and empowerment in the present moment
- Take action with faith before you feel ready and disregard limiting beliefs
- Allow yourself to relax into inspired action instead of forcing it
- Progress comes from surrendering to the journey rather than controlling the process

I love how you shift your focus to more mindset based content. This is such a great video. Thank you!!
What you convey in this video may be obvious, but it helped me create my plan and helped connect the dots to current hurdles in my life
as a person that is not a person, I am offended to not be addressed
Grant me the serenity, to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things & the wisdom to know the difference = surrender & do it. Great video man 👍👏

Having faith and surrendering has been so transformational honestly.
Be mindful. 🧘🏽♂️

Now (only a couple years later) I have a good relationship, my first house (which I love 😍) and job I'm happy at (ya there's days but in general I don't want to go elsewhere). All that to say it is possible. Even if it seems like the whole world is against you. It can happen.
This is not a 'wo woo'. You talk spiritual truth in a very logical and pragmatic way. I'm impressed.

Good luck!
Absolute facts. I’ve been focusing on letting go and realizing I am already successful. Focus on relaxing, everything is working out.

- Most people lack a detailed vision and rely on vague societal expectations.
- Create an exciting, detailed vision for yourself that goes beyond material possessions.
03:14 👀 Power of Attention
- Understanding and leveraging your attention is essential for success.
- Human attention is a valuable resource in today's world.
- Your attention is the vehicle driving you towards your goals.
- Focus on your vision and avoid distractions to gain traction in your life.
07:24 🔄 Surrendering to Your Vision
- Surrendering to your vision is the final component for progress.
Always happy to see an upload from you.
Recently started pairing therapy with my self development, and am making lots of progress
for a content creator to finally say that 'yes i want your attention and my stuff does better with you watching it, but i want you to go do your own thing'. YES. +1 for sure
Joey,
when I started following your channel (back when you had like 10k subs) I was constantly watching self-development content without really getting better at anything myself. Thanks mate
He’s so freakin good
Outwitting the devil is like in my top 5 favourite books of all time. Super deep read. I’ve been reading it on and off since 2019. Definitely some of it is unhinged but a lot of it is really true stuff that can change the way you look at everything. Great read. Great video :) thanks man.
what are your favorite two or three books?
Don't waste your time with superficial pop b.s. and go straight to good philosophy: Ayn Rand and Leonard Peikoff. Objectivism.
Try her novels first to see if you have a predisposition for it: Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead

Been watching your videos for the past 5 days, and the feeling is like having a psychologist friend tells me things i should have realized. Not a motivator, but like a friend.
Start following you 1 year couple of months ago.
I learn a lot. Thank you men👊🌱
I want to become a UI designer or just a graphic designer, sometimes I wish that my painting hobby could make me money to live off it, other times I wish I could make music…
How do I choose the right thing? I’m 26, got a shitty job, I feel tired and don’t really know what to do.
Could you make a video around this topic?
Just choose one thing and really stick to it for a year.
The perception that "I can do anything" stops us from doing really anything.
26, next month i start GED classes and a month after that ill be taking the exam, after that i plan in joining the marines for 3 years and hopefully get some plumbing experience while im there, then if the GI bill still exists by then ill try to get in trade school/apprenticeship which apparently former military get priority to enroll then be an apprentice/jounrneyman for 8 years and then become a self employed residential plumber, thats the plan anyway...the end goal is just creating a family, cant do that broke
I had the perfect girl ever, she was absolutely in love with me the same way i was with her, all she was asking of me was for me to get an apartment so we could live together and then get married since shes christian, unfortunately i was dirt broke, im not going to let it happen again
Any tips/advice is greatly appreciated

I started to use pen and paper and leaving my phone in other place, and my efficiency and clearness in mind is boosted.
The problem with today, that most of work we do on mobile or laptop, but a lot of distractions are there.
Also it is difficult for example to browse through your notes on digital, but much easier on paper.
So I recommend to revert back to papers ;)
Super helpful advice and i experienced the same. When I don't use my phone or use a blocker to block all the distractions, my productivity is 100X compared to when I don't
We appreciate your insights on this matter. We will support you no matter what.
Thank you!
Perfect timing! I've been needing a video like this :)
Thank you so much for this video, I need those types of videos to help me get through life!
@@the.bonsai.samuraidon’t listen to him. He’s one of those insufferable negative nancies who thinks he knows everything.
You are my AHA moment! You articulated everything I "knew" but said it in a way I needed to hear to really "get" it. I appreciate you
I realize that whats keeping me from reaching my goals is my lack pf submission typically i take a long time planning and strategizing on a system (habits) to improve my life, but as soon as i start them i already pivot leading to replanning the entire system.
I've had my attention on getting a job and/or a girlfriend since I was about 15. It never happened.
How?
@@andrewjames309 You think I know? No-one would hire or date me.
Hey you ought to give a shot listening to Joe Diszpenza I was in similar shoes as yours. Things have started to move for me after following his school of thoughts about silence and an empty mind@@MarcusConnelly-w2n
Impossible, must've missed something along the way
The saddest part in this video is when you see how he had a nice set of hair and how he’s shiny bold now
I'm going bald and this man gives me confidence and hope for my future self
Get your life together with good money, good career etc then you can shave it off without feeling weird about it. But for now don’t stress.
Damn! 4 minutes in and I love the video. I'm gonna watch this like 5x over but I really just wanted to say you have a very good intellect. I love your point about human attention being the most valuable resource!
*laughs in ADHD* It must be nice to be neurotypical.
Yes, for us the first step is to be not mentally disabled.
Woah, I've been subscribed to your channel for a long time, I think you had 1K subscribers when I first subscribed... Not watched a video for a couple of years and now.... 2.5 million! Amazing work!!! This is great to see!
I finally subscribed after watching your videos for at least two years! Thanks for all you do!
hi better ideas, i've been following your videos for a while now.
your straightforward honesty and impactful advice never fail to help me. thank you !
I will always watch your videos when I'm ready to get back on track. Thangs for never disappointing !
I think you really helped me with this part about weaponizing your attention cause i really struggle with knowing what i want but when i feel deep inside myself i hear it clear what really always get‘s my attention thank you!
I cant believe how much i vibe with this guy… keep making videos, just keep talking 👌🏻
That Quickly in the bracket made all the difference
I would never be caught dead watching a self-improvement video
Cheers.

This video made me get out of my bed after 5 HOURS of me being in my bed sulking. You’re the most inspirational and motivating person I’ve ever met
I was literally looking for one of your videos to watch right before dinner, and when I came back I see this
