After 15 years dormant I'd say a cambelt should take priority over oil, the engine won't self destruct if its run on old oil for a short time, get the engine hot after a belt change then drop the oil, you'll get more gunk out, and if you want to see how bad an engine can be and still be revived I suggest you watch Pole Barn Garage and see what Dalton gets running.
Or watch Jennigs MotorSports. Its even older vehicles. And I agree, the timing belt is essential. After that, change the oil. And run the vehicle and check sensors, they might be bad also
FYI, thats not a Carb, its Single Point Injection. Basically 1 tiny fuel injector inside the throttlebody.
Yeah I think the old boy expected to see a squirter shoot when he 'pumped' it a few times
came here to say this
Yeah it may look like a carb, but carbs very rarely have electronic connectors coming out of them. Some of them have a fuel shut-off solenoid, but they’d be on the side of the carb.
This is a very classic and recognisable GM TBI, used on many GM products of the time which includes this Corsa.
Yep, its about EFI, that's why the new Corsas have MPFI in their back.
CFI
Caddy was being revved a lot during jump start
At ~1500-2000RPM your alternator puts out max output.. don't need to rev beyond that.
during a jump start the main current transfer is not the current from the running alternator (50-100A perhaps), but from the running vehicle's battery, usually up to 300A or more.
Obviously the alternator does help, but you don't need to rev the tits off the caddy lol
What a lovely video, amusing to watch. Very much seems like a "one-take" style video. Like the kind of shenanigans that id like to get up to aswell. Nice you got it running, seems like you had fun
I really didnt expect rust inside the engine, lol. It's nothing to worry i'd say. These Opel engines are so strong. That rust is just surface level. First, change the timing belt, then the oil (you already did), and then, if you want, with a warm engine, make some hard pulls on the engine to clean the cobwebs and rust from inside better. (just drive at highway speeds will work too). This car seems to be very clean.. I'd keep it. Its very rare to see one stock and in this not bad condition. Caution is very good. But that rust wont cause it to blow. I bet it can do more 100k kilometers.
And it's a EFI engine, single point fuel injection. It is very easy to get it messed up lol.
I was a Vauxhall fleet mechanic when these were new. Great little cars and easy to work on as were all vauxhalls back then
U can settle an argument me and my mate had its about the diesel ones I say the 1.7 is better he says the 1.3 which would you say
@@jamieeedden777 I would pick the 1.7 although to be fair the 1.3 (Fiat engine) is not that bad.
@@ronnie8752 I had 2 of the 1.7 at the same time one van one car not powerfull but so so cheap to run the rust killed them or id have definitely kept the van I'd like another tho for something to put my bikes and parts in to take my bikes to the track
@@ronnie8752 do they make them in automatic ? Just lately I've experienced weakness in my left arm and hand so struggle to shift in a manual now I can just about ride a bike tho so wonna pick up a little van and get out on my bikes before it gets any worse
They are Opel. They were awesome
Back in 1997 I remember my Dad having a 1994 Corsa LS 1.4 petrol to this day I still think it was the best car going LOL it would be good to see this one go through the MOT
You can see the honing marks still perfectly. the rust is not an issue. Great little car. NB if you were made of cast iron you would have rust. if the exhaust valves were open on that cylinder the damp would get in.
I had one of the first corsas like that on a k plate same couloir and turquoise clocks and trim. Paint colour was called caribic blue. They were so new I had to wait for that particular model when it eventually arrived. It had an opel badge on the front and Vauxhall on the back. A mistake from the factory. Mine was a 1.4
Awesome to know it had that type of fault aha
JUST SEND IT! xD
Are you keeping the shell? It looks very rotten and these hide rot in all places !
It's a 92 corsa. Honestly there is no point worrying about putting a camera down the cylinders and seeing tiny specs of rust. Just put a fresh battery in an turn her over and drive it down the road.
Restore it and keep it, these days Corsa B are very very rare!
Agreed
Agreed, i still cant get my head around how they suddenly became rare.
I got a 1997 1.2 LS with 80k and 6 months MOT in 2017 for £80. Lasted me until 2020 when i had to scrap it for an MOT failure on rot. To this day I'm still annoyed at myself for not driving illegally 2 mins up the road to a welder.
Today the same kind of car would be over £1000!
What are they going on about with the cylinders there like brand new that first cylinder still has the honing marks on the Cylinder
You could do what lots of my customers do with Corsas. Stick a Saab B204 or B234 in it (£500), and one of my remaps to 300+ bhp. Paul @ The SAAB Clinic.
£500 total price?
@@bmc9504 500 For an engine typically. If your technically able do it yourself. The engine drops right in, There are Loom adapters availiable to buy off the shelf or again do it yourself.
Put them micky mouse jump leads in the bin and buy some bigger better quality ones and it would have fired up straight away. 👍🏻
Yeah i agree that's all i had on the go in my van, they've always just got me by. I've been playing with luck 😅
As a first time watcher he saying should change the oil before u start it but then u gonna see if it turns over 🙄 drop the oil first and put a set of plugs and then go from there
That's actually not a big deal. It will not harm the engine. but its not bad to chanage it before starting it.
You should make a lightshow for it like you did the mercedes 🤣
Also the car needs good power supply to work the fuel pump
Restore It!
The Corsa B was released in 1993 and the earliest UK cars were K-reg, and you even say 1993 in the video. But your title says 1992 for an L-reg lol
L reg could be late 1992 to early 1993, the cutoff isn't Jan 1st
Actually your wrong on both counts there is the occasional J registered corsa B as there was a 1 owner red one on eBay about 12 months ago I was very very tempted for the collection
@@RANDASH L is 1993-1994 and they changed about half way through the year
@@pug2052 wow! usually early reg is ex-press, so maybe it was one of those?
When is Ultimate-NAG52 TCU V1.4 version coming out?
Won't be for a long time, I'm working on that in my spare time, 1.3 is the priority atm
@@RANDASH Ok, i ask because i want to buy one, but i was thinking maybe you are finishing up the 1.4 version soon, so maybe better to wait a little bit :D
Thanks anyway
Saying your car hasn't been on sounds like a girl talking about her periods, try saying that your car hasn't RUN instead.
perhaps you should k swap it
What’s your mates number 😍
Repent to Jesus Christ!
Luke 5:32
King James Version
32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Luke 13:3
King James Version
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
The frig has this got to do with Vauxhall corsa’s
@@pug2052 are you a sinner?
@@Lawrence-Joseph-Norse not really no I try and be a good person but it’s only like you making a preaching video on RUclips and me having a discussion about Vauxhall Corsa’s in the comments
@pug2052
Romans 3:23
King James Version
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 3:10-11
King James Version
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
The difference is that what I am preaching to you is that you do not have to go to hell. Whereas the things of this world will keep you busy all the way to your death. Then eternal damnation.
Jesus Christ can save anybody from death and hell.
Do you want to go to heaven and have eternal life?
