I recently started playing the half life series, and just finished half life opposing force today. And now I am in love with Adrian Shephard, he a true marine!
you couldve added a cherry on top of the cake like g-man stepping in the void an pulling him to a mysterious place
i think thats implied in the final scene with him and gman in the aircraft, leaving him alone in stasis until he finds a use for him
I like how Shepherd doesn't give a shit about the Osprey crashing, he's just bored
Adrian Shephard 🤝 Barney Calhoun
Normal and nameless heroes we can relate with. A soldier and a security guard ensuring the best for humanity.
Gordon is great as well, although communities tend to overlook the other two, the fact that Adrian is actually a well trained military personnel and Barney possibly won't be picked at this job if he doesn't know how to fight, which makes it more realistic for them to survive at this alien invasion situations. And to be fair, Gordon is there because he's a scientist, and it just happens that he's overpowered because of his almost futuristic suit, he would be easily killed by both military and Combine soldiers if not because of it. In conclusion and in my only opinion, Gordon is overrated at this point. I'm cooler with Adrian and Barney due to the fact that they are grounded to reality and we could relate at them.
I'm not sure I can relate to a marine in nevada fighting an alien invasion and meeting a business-man god-like being that can manipulate reality and greeting it with a stone-cold look
Don't forget that Gordon is highly trained professional, which we can see in tutorial in the half life 1 and hear from other scientists, also black Mesa well known that aliens live in xen. Others who wears hev costume were not so lucky and died despite this.
@@kalisnumber1I can relate to 3 of 'em, kind of. Because the quiet Half-Life protagonists feels like *YOU* when playing the game.
True, but, Gman choosed Gordon because he had limitless potential. Others using the suit died in Xen, for example. And most enemies that Gordon killed was with his smarts alone.. like the first Gargantua. Also, Freeman had training for combat as well. The Hecu also had special gear, I mean, their armor literally uses energy.

how would an Opposing Force 2 work out? i mean it can be possible. City 17 had a MASSIVE lack of combine forces. A story could tie into outer resistance. maybe scientists that worked directly on the portal tech to zen and so forth, worked on shutting down the Combine's reinforcements and 'hive mind' soldiers like Grunts.
Blue Shift 2 or HL:Barney could be a thing as well. showing all the stuff Barney has been upto.
i feel that theres alot of potential, we just want stories told, they dont HAVE TO meet break the bar or go up and beyond.

They are gonna make adrian probably go to the past when city 17 has alot of combine forces
Or will probably have a fight out with the rebels mistaking him for a new combine unit and then will team up after the miscommunication

building up and training the rebel forces. if you didnt catch it, the Rebels are VERY coordinated.

And still in a war with combine so they probably just adapted but that can also mean if adrian were to be sent in the past where the rebels were about to rise, he could've been one of the leaders that have been training them

I'm certainly not an American Marine. But playing as a child in Half Life OP-FORCE. Adrian was very motivated to serve in the Russian army. He is one of the coolest Americans I know. And thanks for the edit. The appearance of the fonk was epic.

I can really see Half-Life as series. Episode 1 - The resonance cascade . Episode 3 starting with Adrian Shephard being sent in and his plane getting shot down

Adrian is way way better than Gordon. Adrian is a soldier, goes to a place he has no idea, kills the aliens and zombies no fear and survives like a G. Whilst Gordon is just a geek with his orange suit on.
It goes both ways.
Gordon is way better than Adrian. Gordon is just a scientist, gets stuck in a situation he has not been trained to deal with at all, saves the planet without a word and survives like a G. While Adrian is just a grunt with his PCV on.

On the contrary Adrian goes there without any knowledge, his adaptation skills is what makes Adrian Adrian. Even his surname suggests that he is a leader, a very concise personality uploaded to him by gearbox
