Where Freeman is the figurehead and rallying point for human moral, a military man like Adrian Shephard, an elite specials forces at that, with training in unorthodox warfare could be critical in the actual effectiveness at fighting back.

I'm glad that new generations are finding HL2 and realizing how much of a pivotal and important game it is. Ever since I played it, all other games are held to it's standard and judged by comparison. The story telling and world building without having to tell you everything in a prologue is unmatched. Everytime I see one of these edits or similar video it makes me want to play it all over again, again.

The planes and helicopter destroyed and falling down from the sky cities getting destroyed, soldiers positions destroyed in few minutes escaping civilians killed by combine and who survived get killed by xen creatures it must looks very scary dark.
Whats funny is that the combine takeover, LITERALLY ONLY TOOK 7 HOURS. Like, we had such advanced technology (especially in the half life universe, where we had way more advancements) AND WE STILL LOST. Its like we didn’t even put up a fight in that universe.
Combine was a multi-universal empire with the capabilities of inter-universal travel.. They've conquered whole universes, what makes you think they couldn't take earth on?
It wasnt the combine though. It was the Universal Union. Fun fact, they have used primarily synths for 7 hour war which most likely means they didn't use only gunships or dropship, they used things far more powerful that could defeat the UN within 7 hours, what we see in Half Life 2 or Alyx is the aftermath as we know, but these units that the main characters fight are only peacekeeping forces made to keep the human race enslaved by itself. What UU used during the 7hw must've been truly destructive and powerful, perhaps orbital airstrikes even?

I'd love to see a game where adrian shepard is brought out of stasis and he rejoins the corps (Idk if the HECU would still be a thing but they could be) during the 7 hour war. I reckon that would be a good way to bring him back into the half series and make him canon (hes canon in my head lol)

Gordon freeman is truly more of a impressive combatant then doom-slayer seemingly all because Gordon is just a normal guy, a normal dude who just happened to be in the right place, at the right time with a funny orange suit, and became a godsend.
