As my unit experienced this in 2009 in the mountains of Afghanistan. The radio broadcast was "Alamo". This meant we are experiencing a mass complex attack and being overrun, expect total casualties. In response to said broadcast, 100% of available artillery and air support is directed to your complex, and they start laying hate. As if hate was going out of style.

I could defend the invasion solo
7 hour war was not a fight. 7 hour war was basically a beating of toddlers. The combine we see in HL2 are merely small garrison forces. The REAL invasion force literally destroyed all earth armies in 7 hours. It was anything BUT real war. Earth armies basically had no time to even try to resist.
Gunships flying past you and striders stomping your platoon and disintegrating your positions with a single shot. And a horde of combine soldiers marching towards your platoon's location without any signs of halting.
Do you plan on making more since you made something really good. Something that i could listen and let my head imagine a battle.

Honestly yeah the HECU almost went from “constant pain in your ass” to “forget about freeman” out of the blue.
HECU were kicking ass and taking names, but there's only so much you can do when the enemy can appear out of thin air and has constant reinforcements.

The HECU weren't given a clue about what they would be facing. They weren't even told to execute the base personnel until right as they landed. For the first day they had the surface completely locked down and were moving underground. By the second day all Hell was breaking loose, organized Vortigaunts, Grunts, and worse were teleporting in all around. There was no front line to this battle, the Aliens, being mind controlled had no sense of fear or hesitation. No need for logistics as their Weaponry was completely biological. Black Mesa was the beginning of the end of the World.

Random story because its fun:
The Combine's advance into europe is inescapable. United nations forces, HECU units, and militia forces, all desperately defend their towns and cities. Berlin falls 5 hours into the war. In Amsterdam, Netherlands, a group of HECU soldiers and some civilians hold a position against The Combine, as they await evac that never comes. Pvt. Louis Barker is holding the position along with his brethern, surrounded by Combine forces. 30 minutes before the war ends, he puts earbuds in. What follows, is a 5 minute firefight in which the remainder of his brethern are killed by the relentless onslaught of The Combine. It is said he killed around 60 of their fighters, before his last radio message is made to a UN force stationed outside of Amsterdam, asking for assistance. With the death of Louis Barker, Amsterdam fell, and humanity's last hope for a scarce survival was obliterated. The 7 hour war, would end 25 minutes after Louis's death.

@@calanon534 What do you mean not good? Its one of the best pieces of zombie media ever made, the starts a little slow, but thats because its supposed to represent the calm the world lived in before all the insanity.
@@thegeneralvilla2784 I read the whole thing cover-to-cover many years ago, and some of the premises in it are utterly ridiculous, many things are flat-out wrong, and other plot points were irritatingly nonsensical on their face.
Max Brooks wrote one HELL of a comedy with that thing. Takes after his dad!
