I have been sewing for many decades and recently started trying my hand at patterning. You are the first person I watched who made the pattern drafting easy to understand. And I have watched many! I was wondering if you have any plans on doing a video showing how to draft pants. I'm more of a pants person, but I am going to try this skirt. Keep up the great job.

    Glad to see you back!!
How to measure yourself is always a fun one, for me, where my "waist" is depends on whether there will be a waistband or not. If I measure the narrowest part of me for something with a waistband I will hate wearing it because it'll be up above the bottom of my ribcage but if I go with a measurement just above the hips for a dress, everything is wrong but if I use that actual low waist measurement for something with a waistband it will literally fall off because of how I'm shaped, yay for muscles bulging under the padding that seems to come with age... the difference is more than 10 cm, so I have to use a measurement from an actual pair of trousers that stays on, rather than a measuring tape around my middle where I want a waistband (remember that 10 cm difference? Yup, that's how much I squish into my trousers to get them to stay up, the next pants size up will slide off without the zipper being undone)! Also the waist height will differ... and I also don't want any kind of bulky waist seam in a dress at my low waist EVER, cause there's so little difference between my waist and my narrow hips that it just creates unnecessary bulk so I've been learning tricks to minimize it and/or move the bulk lower so that it pretends to be the hips I don't have! Welcome to being a brick with boobs...
And I also learned from my various attempts (including yours) to draft a bodice block that my bust squishes more than patterns expect it to. I'm having better luck by reverse-engineering a side-darted bodice block from a princess seam bodice block my friend helped me perfect based on a free cosplay pattern from Mood Fabrics, where according to their sizing chart, my bust is a size 12, my hips are a size 8 and my waist is a size 14-16, depending whether I measure high or low, there's a good 5 or 6 cm difference between waist height if it's a dress or something with a waistband.... So you can understand how waist seams and waist-darts are not my preference because of how I'm shaped...
