Thank you so much for your very clear detailed, easy to follow and to understand instructions. I have learnt so much from you. You have a lovely calm and excellent teaching manner. Thank you Thank you
This is actually my first time to come into your video....and got the more information...which even doesn't get after watching and scrolling 100 videos .... The best explaination with little little important details !!!! Praise you with lots of love 💕💕 Can't wait to gain a new knowledge from the best teacher !!!!
You're a lovely teacher- very clear instructions I used to design & make my own clothes based off the basic patterns but I haven't sewed for years & have never known how to make a block. Thank you so much this was SUPER helpful. I'm super excited to get started
Hi Nicky, thanks so much for such a kind comment! 🥰 I'm sorry for the delayed response, I just released my first ever online course and I'm a bit of a tech grandma so have neglected RUclips for a couple of months whilst it was running 😬 I'm so happy you found this helpful xx
By far the best tutorial I’ve seen, I’ve just gotten into sewing again and can’t wait to get started. Thank you for making it seem so effortless and thank you for the pdf.
Behold a disciplined tutor! Now I see why I had to watch this video to the end. Those minute details, the simplicity and stick-to-it attitude are nothing short of remarkable. Thank you for your patience and dedication. I am impressed ❤ and I want to be like you, or even better 😂Lols. I however find something missing - the waistband. Could you please do a video on that?
@@thecreativecouturestudio ye it went really well so i took it slow and made the toiles the first one i had to adjust the darts and change the shape of the curves I had used but now I think the skirt fits really well! just working on putting in the zip!!!! happy knowing I can use this basic sloper again for other projects I want to make
Hi ❤ Thank you very much Today before I found you on RUclips I decided to try to sketch my block in the way I understand it lol. But it’s almost as you explain, so I’m really happy. The only thing that i don’t have is the darts. Yeah I know what you are gonna say lol. It’s that I’ve been trying to do a kilts skirt, and just a pleated skirt But I always have the same issues. I have a very small belly but it’s there and my back is curvy. So when I put the #$&@ skirt on, I really have to make a big darts in the back that i splits in 2 so it won’t be bulky , but let’s say that dart in the back is 4 inches, that 4 inches needs to be split in three section 1) for each side of my waist and the third for my small belly that doesn’t have enough room. So I need this 4 inches to give me some amplitude So I did my block and I will redo it as you explain whit the darts and try to fit the darts in the pleated line skirt. Do you have tutorials that explains how to draft patterns using the block shape? Every where they explain to to do a block, but after you need to know where to put the ease and how you need to using for be creative. I hope that I’m clear lol I’m French and really try to make sense Thank you Sofie from Quebec.
Thank-you for uploading this video it is very detailed and I know I will have to view it more than once. I followed the directions to make a £4 tip for you but I had to cancel because an unknown charity attached itself to the procedure. Please advise .
i also learnt this that day in school. I was so confused.. I have to youtube a lot more to learn. I am wondering whether you will do a part 2 to show how to cut it and sew it together and add zip (perhaps). And a split on skirt. Our teacher did not show us. He just bring us sample he did himself
Hiya- you're welcome :) There are two ways I like- one is, make the skirt up to fit your hip and then pin the dart amount when you're wearing it- using the centre dart lines instructed with the block and option 2 is to take your waist measurement and add 1-2cm (1/2" or so) divide by 4. Take this figure plus 3-4cms for the back, and the figure plus 1-2cms for the front. Mark that in, then curve the side seam. The curvier you are the bigger the dart will be. Good luck :)
Hello! I'm having a little problem doing these. My point 12 is at the side where point 13 should be and vice versa. Did I do something wrong or is it just because I have differents measurements than yours? If it's the latter, how should I continue? Thank you for reading!
Loved the video jus one thing in my mind bugging me. So the waistline is obviously where the waist is. So why are you using the top hip measurement for the waistline. Must be a dumb qs😅
Best explanation ive seen so far, very clear and easy to understand thankyou so much for making and sharing.
You're so welcome! 💜💜💜

My skirt turned out great. I put in too much ease but it was simple to take in. Thank you so much!

Thanks. Would you like to also share the six panelled skirt drafting technique!

I love your ruler.
Is this for sewing where can I get one?
Have a question:so this is a a-line skirt?
Hello! Thank you for this video. I’m never sure how exactly to do a waist. How do you know how wide to make the waist darts?
Hiya- you're welcome :) There are two ways I like- one is, make the skirt up to fit your hip and then pin the dart amount when you're wearing it- using the centre dart lines instructed with the block and option 2 is to take your waist measurement and add 1-2cm (1/2" or so) divide by 4. Have you added extra to the waist measurement to make up for the amount that you took away from the darts?
❤
