Welcome to our new channel! We’re excited to get into this with you guys, share some of our journey and knowledge of custom van conversions & Offgrid Power.
We often get asked questions like: "where do I plug the temperature sensor into my Daly Smart BMS", so we decided to make a video to take you through everything and where it all goes. We also cover some of the generational changes to the Bluetooth module that Daly have made recently which improve things. We show you where everything plugs into the Daly Smart BMS 100A, 150A, 200A & 300A.

Good video, just subscribed
Thank you! Hope it was helpful! :)
Thanks a lot!
You're welcome!
how do you hook up the touchscreen and a BT and PC to use simultaneously?
It’s not possible to have both. Can only have one or the other.
Question: is ther an option to connect DALY BMS to Hybrid inverter's CAN PORT?
You can do quite a lot with the UART port on the Daly BMS, but it's not something that we've explored much. What inverter are you trying to connect it to?
@@offgrid_power same question and I have a tommatech with rs485,rs232,usb interfaces
Hey Nigel
Once again nice video .
Hey I didn’t see the connecting wire from Amazon - did I mis it ?
Sorry! I forgot to put that in the description. Here are the links though...
On Switch: geni.us/OnSwitch
On Switch Connector: geni.us/OnSwitchConnector
Thanks
Ordered wire , got it and plugged in perfectly. 👍🏻
Great!
I got a 200 Amp with a fan. I didn't even know that the WIFI lolypop, which came with it, had a switch on it. THANKS! But I seem to remember that mine didn't have a soft switch; maybe ??? They also sent me a 2 wire flip switch on a 6 pin plug, WTF. Nice, I got to look at the entire back wall and workbench, behind you, throughout the entire video. You got to look at the pin-outs up close and personal. We only got to see plug-ins that were represented on 0.0001 % of the screen. Could you get up close to the camera, enough so that we can read the labels and count the pins. We have seen much more of the shop than necessary.
I'm not sure what that plug is for that Daly sent you. Does it have a USB on the one end? It might be the UART maybe?
With regards to the on switch on the bluetooth module, it depends which bluetooth they sent you. It's only recently that they added the switch to their bluetooth modules, so you might have the slightly older one if you don't have the bluetooth on yours.
Hi Nigel, nice video it’s really helpful as I’m about to build a 200ah with the 100a Bluetooth Daly bms (when the batteries finally arrive). The links you gave for the switch and connector take me to the American Amazon and both say currently unavailable!
Would I be correct in thinking that I could bridge the two pins with a small screwdriver as a temporary measure to wake up the bms?
Hey Mike. Where are you based? That link should work for your local Amazon, but yes you can just bridge the two pins with a screwdriver to turn the BMS on. The BMS shouldn't ever turn off as long as you don't disconnect the balance leads. If you hit the low voltage disconnect and it shuts off, charging the battery will turn the BMS back on.
Thanks for getting back to me. I’ve tried the links from two of your videos now, both send me to the American Amazon, I’m on the Isle of Man. I’ll try cutting and pasting the names of the items into the U.K. Amazon search bar? Cheers.
Hi Mike. Try these links:

amzn.to/3sIo39T
@@offgrid_power Thanks Nigel, just the job I couldn’t find the right ones by cutting and pasting, all good now and sent off for them thanks.🇮🇲👍
Glad to hear! :)
I was hoping to find some explination on the parallel module. Do you have a vid coverung that or a link to a forum? Not sure if i need the 5a module or the 15a for my 500a bms with 280ah cells 48v 32 cell
We don't at the moment, but we'll try and make a video about it soon. :)
Hello,
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
On the 150A model you mention that pins 5 and 6 on the power port must be jumpered to enable the BMS, is this disabled by default by the software? So if you want to use a switch to enable the BMS you would have to enable the feature in the software and wire a normally closed switch on pins 5 and 6? I'm assuming here that the bluetooth dungle would be the old style and not have the switch.
Thanks in advance
The BMS doesn’t turn itself on when you connect it to the battery, so you need to “turn it on” by bridging those two pins.
Hi there.. I wonder if u can help me out.. My battery voltage is 14.1v but when I check through the many positive and negative its 10.8v it should be the same voltage right?
What do you mean the many positive and negative?
Is it possible to run the Daly Smart BMS with a Victron Cerbo GX by using the CAB-Bus to connect?
I believe it is possible, but we've never tried it.
Question: came a key switch be added to turn the BMS on and off?
As far as I know, the BMS will not turn off unless it's disconnected from the batteries. You can add a switch that turns the Bluetooth back on (if it has turned off). But I don't think you can turn the BMS itself on and off.
why does the large BMS have four big cables? How are they connected?
It's for high amperage. Basically to spread the load. The B- connects to the battery and P- connects to your load/charger.
@@offgrid_power thanks 👍
@@offgrid_powerdoes it matter if B- is hooked up to the positive or negative side of the battery?
@@bryanr4088supposed to tie the negative.
@@latymz Thank you! So all the b negatives connect to the negative side of the battery, and all the p positives connect to the load or the battery charger, correct?
Just trying to clarify for somebody else that may read these comments.
Thank you for your reply 👍
Hi I have a 4S nissan leaf cell pack I made for camping slightly higher voltage than normal life/lipo i.e running up to 4.05v per cell does the Dali allow me to change the per cell voltage up a bit for the high and low cutoff to suit the leaf cells? Thanks.
Yes, Daly allows you to have the high volt cut off set for a cell and the sun of the cells. You can adjust both. So you could set your high volt disconnect per cell at 4.05 and the sun volt disconnect at 16.2v.
@@offgrid_power Do you only stock 12v model or do you stock 24v model? I'd like to try 24v setup.
OK, good try but that was kinda crap ...... first off, shoot 4 seperate videos for each model.
Second, if you can be bothered to get a close up shot of EACH side of the BMS should we just use our imagination ?
SHOW all the ports and tell us what each one is - don't gloss over stuff.
What is a monitor port and what about the CAN port - come on do better!
Baaahha
Can’t see anything
