    Can the charge current settings be used to protect the alternator in an RV using an isolator/separator? With properly sized fuses/ckt breakers, is there any reason one should NOT rely on the BMS for charge current protection. I was considering adding an li-BIM or a DC-DC charger to limit current . This BMS seems to function the same as the Li-BIM to protect the alternator.

    FANTASTIC Video, thank you.
    I run my JK with the cutoff at 3.0 volts and charge to 3.45. But I dont run my pack hard just a 6ah load for my rv fridge that spends 90% of its time hooked to power. The pack is just to power the fridge while it sits in storage.
    What do you recommend for charge and discharge limits?

    The software has so many bugs. The release delay (OVPR/UVPR time) options aren’t taken into account, it’s always a countdown from 5s and then release. The “factory reset” and “shutdown” options are missing from the control tab (only present in the manual). The system log Copy button doesn’t do anything (nothing on iOs clipboard). Also for me it’s extremely scary that the short circuit protection (and delay) are software options. It should be a failsafe hardware level setting. In case of a short, I have to trust that the program logic was correct, and that all OS-level functions (hardware clock, etc.) are up and running, otherwise my house burns down.
    Finally, just a tiny correction: at 20:10, balance starts when ANY cell is above the set voltage (not all four).

      Thanks for the comment. Agreed, there are lots of bugs. Unfortunately that seems to be the case with most BMS. :)

      Yea, and they have to have some way to turn off BT for security purpose and to reduce iddle current. My understanding is BT is always on. I ordered mine recently, but have not received it yet, so it is just my understanding.

    Thank you for the Great detailed explanation of settings! How much current does it consume on iddle?

    are you all moving away from daly BMS's? Always love the reviews btw

      Not entirely. We're still using Daly, but JK is definitely ahead in terms of functionality and performance (at the moment). Daly have some catching up to do.

    I really wish JK would bring out a new model that has some volt free, configurable relay/mosfet switches for switching things like fans on/off.

    thanks for the video! Is it not still hard on the electronics to have the in-rush current even if there's no arcing because you can turn the discharge on and off via the app? Is the pre-charge resistor method only for eliminating contact damage from the arcing, or is there more to it than that? Thanks!

    Very informative video as always. What setting should we use if we only want to charge to 80-90 % and not go below 15-20 % ?

    • @LordOneHoop
      @LordOneHoop 11 месяцев назад

      Can't be done with any bms but instead you can alter the max en minus voltages which gives the same result. De reason you probably want it is because you dont want the cells to be constantly 100 percent full and 0 percent empty so if you set the max voltage to 3.3 it's about 90 percent full. The same process for the below voltage at around 3.00 volts.

    did i get that correctly, that basically if i'm getting some cells and i am using a JKBMS from the beginning they arrive, i shouldn't top balance them and just plug them in and that's it? thanks

    i have a problem and cant understand if its me or the bms . you spoke about the charger charging but i have this bms / battery on my inverter. now my inverter voltage is set to 3.45 v and the bms at its highest goes to 3.2 . btw i have a lifepo 15s battery. and it discharges and then even with the charger or solar on it shows the inverter setpoint voltages in my case 52 v but the bms wont allow charge ( charge off ) so the battery voltage drops and drops until the battery is flat or close to then eventually after fidelling it charges but again only to 3.2 v not 3.5 v . also my bms has a setpoint for 100% state of charge that yours doesnt have in the video . any ideas. is it me or the setting or the inverter or is it the fact that its a 15s bat and not 16s
    cheers confused

    I have purchased this bms, just a correction on the settings for you, the discharge OCP is displayed on the app at 300 seconds is a wrong setting. it should be 120 seconds maximum with that current, I don't know why someone would discharge 200 amps from a battery anyways 😧 lol

    • @LordOneHoop
      @LordOneHoop 11 месяцев назад +1

      Well if you cook with induction and you have a 5Kw inverter the draw can be 200A easily.

    • @gfimadcat
      @gfimadcat 11 месяцев назад +1

      Hook up a 3000 VA inverter and fire up the induction stove and your water cooker at the same time, and there you go, you're now sucking down >200A

      If you look at the app it has 300 seconds but the new manual says 30 seconds, so they also Jk made a mistake on the -20 charging limit, I think it was an app mistake on 300 seconds for over charging protection , instead of 30 seconds hmmmm

    I disconnect one series connection on my battery and reconnected and now the jk bms say cell count not equal to settings. I disconnected all balance leads and reconnected but still not showing cell 16 and 17. Updated the app. Still nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    by jk bms broke after only 350 days; the bluetooth no longer works, updated the app,tried with another phone, turned on and off etc, it's broken; jk does not answer my emails; i could sense that dut to the many updates,about 100!, to their bms,seems they don't know what they are doing;
    any other bms with BT that is not too expensive?

    I have had the app on my phone but uninstalled it to reinstall it because the Bluetooth sucked and then stopped working. but no jkbms app will install now . I get the "app not installed " error message. tried 3 phones that all install APPS with the QR code reader. all three phones will no longer install this damn app and there is NO SUPPORT FROM THE SELLER AND JIKONG. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

      @@BatterymanDan Hi Daniel, I was able to reset my bluetooth password. I can't say it was easy, but I got it done. I bought my JK BMS from the Hankzor store. I went to my Aliexpress store and there's a window where you can communicate with them. I had some issues initially because there was a holiday in China and there was no one there to answer my questions. There is a 12 hour time difference from the est to China so you'll have to work within their business hours as the fix is time sensitive with a 15 minute window. Whoever you work with will have to give you a code that is good for 15 minutes. I had some issue as there are actually 2 passwords in the JK bms, one for bluetooth, and another for settings. The representative kept giving me the settings code and it wouldn't work for the bluetooth. I finally tried his code in my settings and found it worked there. Only then did the representative understand what I was trying to do. I believe the code is the same for both changes but the last 2 code digits, which are letters, are not used for bluetooth. Anyway, once you get the code the fix is quite easy. The trick is getting to talk to someone over there. Hope this helps.

    I would trust that multimeter about as far as i could throw it!,i have cheap mulimeters read over 100v low what the 9v cell gets low,get a good fluke.

      We've got a fluke and tested the multimeter against it and the multimeter is pretty accurate. :)
