never skip a guthrie interview
Basically, he's a genius.
They way Guthrie plays I just laugh my head off at most of his videos ...its purr amazing that all I can do is laugh and smile. The guys a genius
I've found myself laughing at his videos too. I think he's find that most entertaining.
This makes laugh because I do the same thing. It’s so freakin that awe and joe to point of breaking out in laughter 😂
I like how he stresses how important it is to just have a good ear. Basically just keep listening and enjoying the music, it'll literally just pop outta your head
Never a single lesson??? Absolutely insane, he's one of the greatest of all time all on his own...
he really is. i'm sort of a guitar connesewer (too hard to spell) and have to say he is in the top 3 for me if not number 1. he does things that are so artistic and creative that makes him stand out. i just found him recently.
@@infowazz I'm really curious about two others)
Steve Vai and Zappa are way up there of course.
Every song you've ever listened to is a lesson in itself
When you went to a Van Halen concert in 1978-1982, Eddie was hands down the best guitarist in the building. After that, there were too many great guitarists to make that claim. Now, when you go to a Guthrie event, you can rest assured he is the best in the building.
You bet.
Well, to say nothing of Shawn Lane; of whom to some degree: Preceded Eddie Van Halen & actually had an immense influence on Guthrie Groven - who is pretty much a musical disciple of Shawn Lane.
@@Arkh-Lightning-Musician And also Allan Holdsworth, one of Eddie's biggest heroes, and the best in the rock fusion genre around 1978.
and he doesn't even wanna be the best bless him
Absolutely true.
As a chicken picker ALSO former chicken farmer.FunFact: The Rhode island red is one of the highest producing food birds both in eggs&meat and, just abt every1 hz consumed some of a R.i.Red.&highly unlikely..You won't see this breed in Korea or S.E.Asia.. but I agree I'd probly picked a eagle, hawk, kite, pink blue jay etc.. bcz it is Rhode ISLAND AFTR all...🐣
a few years ago I was staying in a hotel in Malaysia, and right behind the hotel below my window was a house with chickens and a rooster that kept me up all damn night. I'm pretty sure it was a Rhode Island Red. I grew up in RI so, I'm familiar with them. They're a hybrid of Italian and Malay chickens, so it's quite possible.
I absolutely love listening to him talk
I never realised there were that many notes on a guitar. Only Guthrie knows the answer…. Legend
I hate watching Guthrie videos...
I am playing guitar since 30 years, even went to music school when I was young. I usually think I am not so bad playing music... but this guy is such great and knows so much things, that makes me fell like a total noob....
However, I can't stop to listen to him... kinda masochistic feeling 🤪
Guthrie is a killer player in any genre but while hearing this there was only one player in my mind and that is..SIR ALBERT LEE
I always like to remind people not to forget about Roy Clark. Not my genre, but damn the dude could shred up a gee-tar.
Not only is one of the greatest guitarists ever he is a very great teacher he great at explaining not a huge fan of the his music it's just not my thing but I love is gutiar instructional video he is very good at explaining things for me to understand because of my learning disability you explain something to all day long and it doesn't sink in for whatever reason even when I'm trying to listen and understand but for some reason he is capable of explaining things for me to understand
this is absolutely playing with “feel.”
Bass guy is a pure killer too !
Never had a guitarelesson in youre life???
Guthrie is one of the best in the world. He's a master of improv too.
... and he creates a lot of music that almost nobody wants to listen to other than for its technique. That's the only rub.
@@a.s.2426 fusion is not for all people. someone likes it
@@shredmaster300 I like fusion and have been listening to Gurthie since 1991-1992 when he first started releasing on Shrapnel. The issue is just that Guthrie's compositions are not on the same artistic level as many other players in that genre or who cross over into that genre (for example Holdsworth, Howe, Lane, Garsed, Gambale), for me and I think for a lot of others. I think the draw is certain melodic and flashy lines from Guthrie. However, that is not enough to be "the best" in the most meaningful sense of the word.
mind boggling genius. can’t think of another guitarist of the last 50 years who drops jaws as much.
Definitely a tip of the hat towards Albert Lee and Country Boy here. He’s influenced by so many styles.
A HUGE tip of the hat. A GINORMOUS tip of the hat. But thats ok, because we are ALL here for it. And what homage, my goodness. Excellent
Do you want to be boss level at tapping? or shredding? or chicken picking? or jazz fusion? (....or etc etc etc etc)
Guthrie: yes!
Guthrie is completely IRRELEVANT in guitar history and will not be remembered in a 100 years time and he certainly doesn't deserve to be but wow technically he is exceptional!!!! His music is garbage and he lacks emotional intensity in his playing and is a awful live performer but for technique and precision he is top notch!
I remember when he used to do tutorials in Guitar Techniques thirty years ago. Always stood out from the others with strong indications of "I'm just getting started here, stay tuned".
I was glad to hang out with Guthrie before a live a winter some years ago. He was sitting alone smoking a cigarette and I accompany him smoking a cigarette too. He gave me a soulful smile...also gave me the impression of an extremely humble person.. He sure CAN play but I think that he is not in the shity GOAT trip ...
Absolutely amazing and lovable
the beginning was very albert lee - this feels like a tribute to country boy
Very charming guy and a master guitarman..!! must be family of Nicolo Paganini... *?*
4:12 yea sounds like a chicken now 😂
Tottenham too have a rooster 🐓 on their club emblem... pathetic club
It's like a perpetual motion piece, but country!!! 🤯
Your good self Guthrie and Chris Buck, in my opinion, are the best guitarists around.....period.🎸🎸🎸
Better than Satriani and Vai imho.More versatile, more original, more skillful. He has no bounds. Just a pure love for MUSIC.
Guthrie literally goes hard out
That's y I adore Albert Lee
GG is pretty cool and sometimes does sound musical. But to me, shredding sounds like babble. Like the tongue flapping between the lips while making random pitches of sound.
Its maybe because of ur accent 🤷♂️💁♂️
@@Oron354 like sound that a turkey makes
You're not listening fast enough.
Earthworm Gym
the tone of the guitar actually sounds like a chicken
"Never had a lesson in my life..." 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Fantastic. What a player.
I wish Zappa had met him. We’d have hear something otherworldly (even more than what we have gotten).
Best guitar player ever !!! the most complete all round player to walk on this planet a humble man to.
Watching the wah pedal and thinking - my dude better not be wearing crocs
Awesome man! Stripped back and raw as good music should be!
Let me suggest play Reorient by alip ba ta,please .!
I sound like me because i am me!

Guitar Genius, Philosopher and genuinely cool human.
I actually live in Woonsocket Rhode Island stop picking on my chicken LOL... But actually it's a Rhode Island Red rooster it's not a chicken. well it is a chicken but it's a male... That guitar playing because he said it was country he actually does sound a lot like Roy Clark who was an excellent guitarist through the '60s and '70s and country music if you've never heard a Roy Clark give him a listen he's an old school excellent guitarist and he's a great banjo player if you love the banjo check him out
Junior Brown on steroids
He has maybe the most technical chops in the world, but his compositions just feel a bit dreary to me with no real emotion to them.
Drive Home solo...no emotion ?
Now another verse, twice as fast as the first!
Keep learning........hell yeah
What is the song that starts at 1:49?
"That's the end of the silly music. We're gonna try and play someting serious"
Eh... duh! That was as serious as it can be as far as I'm concerned.
That was fun!
I heard a chicken clucking in the middle of that performance. And promptly after, she laid an egg
Sounds like the Dregs , I would love a collaboration between him and Steve Morse.
hi is flash!!!
'twould be awesome to see him trade chops with Steve Morse. From all that I have seen of him, he reminds me of Steve in all his guises.
Hilariously inhuman skills; it might not be the highest art music, but this brilliant, humorous performance is the stuff mere mortals wish we could just pull off to crack people up by blowing their minds, while updating some idioms by mixing them together in a blasphemous manner; GG is a blaspheming virtuoso! 😃🎶❤️🤯

Unreal!
It sounds like Steve Howe stuff, somehow...
Reminds me.of roy clark.
He's such a nice guy as well as being a genius!
I will never play this good
You'll never be 1% this good
whats the song in the beginning?
It's called "Eric" from his "Erotic Cakes" album.
Sounds like Gina Lola by steve morse
Reminds me of an Earthworm Jim chase
I dare anyone to cover this.
I feel raped said the guitar…
