I personally LOVE the gritty, realistic, and deceptively sickly look of Scar. It only adds to the character's menace and sinister demeanor.
Scar actually doesn't look bad in this. I appreciate that Jon Favreau is going for a more realistic version for Scar. This Scar looks just as menacing and sinister and terrifying just like Jeremy Iron's version from the original.

I wish Jeremy Irons was playing Scar, but I feel like Chiwetel Ejiofor's Scar seems very...intimidating. This Scar to me seems scarier possibly than the original. I really like that. Ugh! I'm just really excited for this movie!

Shere Khan in the Jungle Book was WAY more sinister and intimidating in Favreau’s version than the animated classic. Thinking Scar might be the same.

I didn't like Ejiofor's voice at first either, but it's starting to grow on me the more I watch it.

Every time I watch THE LION KING or ALADDIN trailers, I feel like I am 5yrs old again.
I agree about Jeremy Irons. It doesn’t sound has scary but the glare this scar gives strikes a little fear

I think my response to everyone about Jeremy Iron's Scar is the same as when people comment about the new Jafar.
Both of them are supposed to be snakes in the grass. Jafar is a trusted advisor. Scar might be the black sheep of the family, but Mufasa still expects him to be around.
But both of the original animated performances are, "well, of course he's evil. He's obviously evil. You're an idiot if you can't see he's evil." And I think, especially with these updated, realistic adaptations, the cartoony sinister evil approach just wouldn't quite mesh with the rest of it.

TLK looks absolutely gorgeous. CAN NOT WAIT to be a total wreck 😭 in the theater. I don’t care that I’m old! This is my childhood brought back 10 folds 🙏🏾

The new guy voicing Scar isn't bad, he's just not as good. Yes Jeremy Irons is in his 70s. However he is still acting, James Earl Jones is back and he's pushing 90.
Yeah, I don't think anyone can top Jeremy Irons' performance as Scar, but Chiwetel Ejiofor doesn't sound bad or anything, just different.

in this movie i think we are getting two versions of scar , because when you see him looking at sarabi at the end of the trailer he seems to be like animated classic version, vs him younger when he exiles simba remember years pass by , so i think they will be sticking to the classic version of scar
No one will ever beat Jeremy Irons as Scar, but I agree, when he said the line “Run away Simba, and never return.” I was sold, he sounded terrifying!

I can't wait to see this movie. It does look like a shot-for-shot remake, but the CGI is utterly gorgeous, and definitely photo-realistic.
Hope it's as wonderful as the original is.
Omg yes, Timon and Pumba! I love this trailer. It does feel like a shot to shot remake of the original animated using the same dialogue, but I'm still excited to see this movie.

I agree, I do miss Jeremy Irons too. If I heard both his & JEJ's voices in this, nostalgia would run wild for me lol. I legit smiled when they showed Rafiki, and during both the Hakuna Matata scene and the Timon & Pumbaa appearance at the end. Loved the original and can't wait to see this. Same for Aladdin as well. I think they're gonna be very good. :) Great reaction, guys!

Other languages never had Jeremy Irons so it's funny to hear everyone say "my only complaint is..." However I did watch a clip of English Scar and I can understand what you guys mean, he was quite something!

Now that we know Ejiofor is part of Maleficent 2 Mistress of Evil, I wonder if his character there will have any Scar references from this new Lion King. I figure all these Disney animated remakes are lowkey shared universe

The Lion King forever
As a massive fan of the 1994 original, I was severely disappointed when the casting announcement revealed that Jeremy Irons wasn't coming back as Scar (as it was perfect casting in the 1994 version) as I only have a very small sample size of Chiwetel Ejiofor as an actor (only seen him in Doctor Strange and Love Actually), but after hearing the line delivery in this, I'm for him playing Scar (as much as I wish that Jeremy Irons was back to play off James Earl Jones again).
I cannot wait to watch this for my 28th birthday this looks so INCREDIBLE but I am NOT ready for those tissues for mufasa’s death 😭

Everyone is saying how awesome this movie will be. Me: I’m still more enthusiastic about Godzilla: King of Monsters.
I really don't mind calling this one live action if the source material is from a cartoon/2d animation. I guess we are just used to see human characters that's why we believe they must use real life animals in this one.

OH MY GOD! MY HEART MY HEART!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!!! *I am a bit disappointed though that it's not Jeremy Irons voicing Scar. Scar lacks that menacing aura with this voice. *sigh
My personal take is that it was a great movie. I think those that gave it bad reviews were let down from nostalgia.

The plot of the film is going to be exactly the same however I believe they will add a couple of scenes from the musical. Nala & Simba have solo songs from the musical and there’s rumors that those songs will be in the film.
Also there’s an iconic song from the musical that Rafiki sings called “He Lives In You” that became so famous that they included it in the Lion King 2. I believe it was confirmed that it will be in the movie.
Im still not happy that theyre taking out the 'Be Prepared' song!

Great reaction! While I am sure Disney will hit it out of the park they do movies very well but "The Lion King" is a direct rip off of the 1960's Japanese cartoon "Kimba The White Lion" funny how they try very hard to sell the lion king as an original creative project but please look into many youtube channels dedicated to the Original Sorry I guess Im bias as I watched the Japanese cartoon as a young person in the 60's KIMBA the True King of the Jungle! lol just saying lol
Сейчас вам напишем, вот как я смотрела это кино, у меня прям вот каждый раз, как увидишь это моменты, это что-то это какое-то, это такие животные, они дружелюбные, такие интересные афа был главным уже потом. Изначально, когда эта семья родила муфасу, это самый настоящий был лев, он был такой лев, настолько вот такой уже готов был ко всему, что он понимал, что он теперь наследник, что он должен. Бороться за своё место и шрам, который давно давно изгна стаи появился, откуда не возьмись опять мешаться и настолько они так мечтали со своей львицы, настолько мечтали родить ещё 1 наследника. Ещё был 1 наследник в жизни, что помимо его самого, чтобы ещё был рождается наследник эти двое самих людей поднимает эти. Эти двое кто-то. Из них он важный, он всё-таки во поднимает над своими лапами, поднимает над головой своей и кричит: "вот родился наследник", его зовут именно Симба этот символ, он главный, он заступался! За своего отца просто по лесу и постоянно вот когда я вырасту, я буду такой, как ты, я буду таким же, таким, как ты, конечно, сильнее меня будешь сыночек мой. Сына он оберегал всех и даже эти собаки постоянно были вот потом даже вот именно такая история, что происходит беда в семье срамом у него. Драки постоянно дрался со шрамом, но всё-таки хоть беда случилась, но он хоть уходил в лес, подружи с Тимоном и пумбой, которую мы видели недавно, вот ившись приходится. Семью там беда произошла, он видел отражение своего отца на самом небе, и он направлял своего сына то, что кто-то отомстил шраму и уничтожил его наконец-то это произошло. Главным вождём. А ты? И он забрался на скалу. Рядом, около него все остальные животные. Такое вот кино, оно очень не нравится, я обожаю это кино, я его долгое время смотрела, это самое настоящее кино из всех, это живые животные, это не вот какие-то мультики, это настоящие животные, они красивые, живые, это интересное особенно. Такие классные вообще они дружелюбные были песни, пели акуна матата, из-за этого настолько это запомнилось, вот такие они все были дружелюбные в дальнейшем будет такая судьба, будет самого именно Симбы. И его возлюбленные девушки, которая родилась в семье другой, у них тоже наследник, и они тоже в том лесу будут жить, у них будет наследник так же старейшина старый ещё. Наследник 1, вот и я даже не помню, как его зовут, но тоже будет вот это будет другая история, но всё равно это самый классный фильм, я его всё время смотрела замечательный, фильм трогательный за трогает это что. На этих животных наблюдать как они себя ведут как они общаются это вообще классно

I'm honestly not excited. Without Jeremy Irons it isnt Scar.

This looks good, however the guy voicing Scar is a big step down from Jeremy Irons. He doesn't have that sharp intensity to his voice.
Almost nobody has that voice. I just want him to bring his own flair to the character which, based on this alone,he totally has.

I'm sure he's talented. However he does not convey a menacing, cruel character by his voice alone. Jeremy Irons does so easily. It makes no sense why Disney didn't bring him back.
Chris Waltman, Chiwetel is amazing, and sound great, and Disney was going for a majority black cast, the complaints people had with the original the lack of diversity, especially when the setting is in Africa

It's far more realistic. Black mane lions tend to be much more alpha and an outcast lion would look exactly like Scar here.
I personally love it. Really makes him gritty and more sinister. They're trying to be as realistic as possible.
