    Not only is Mufasas' voice done by James Earl Jones, who was the King in Coming to America (as well as Darth Vaders voice) but the voice of his queen Sarabi in this movie is the same actress (Madge Sinclair) that played James Earl Jones queen in Coming to America as well.

    I love this movie, the stampede took 3 years to complete. The be prepared song blew the vocal chords in scars voice actor.. we 90s kids learned some valuable lessons from this movie... Mainly even family can do evil things to harm you! In reality lionesses hide their cubs till about 3-4 months or until they are strong enough to keep up, but by the age 2 they are banished from the pride. So Simba was about that old when he came back... And scar would have been next in line after Mufasa because bachelor brothers run prides together... So scar banishing Simba is accurate! The fear is Mufasa's eyes weren't for himself it was for his son cause he finally realized how evil his brother actually was .. timon is a meerkat 😂😂

      Lionesses actually introduce their cubs after 6-8 weeks when they are robust enough to withstand the physicalities of pride dynamics…not sure where you got 3-4 months? It’s very rare that a lioness stays away that long as it opens herself and her cubs to unnecessary prolonged vulnerability and risks. And it’s between ages 2-3 when males reach sexual maturity they are ousted. Simba’s mane growth in the film as he returns to pride rock is also not consistent at all with a 2 year old lion, but 4-5 year old male.

    This movie is by far the best thing Disney ever produced.
    It had a massive impact on me as a kid, teaching me the meaning of death, evilness and betrayal. Todays movies lack the ability to teach those life lessons and I wish Disney had the spine to do something like this again. But sadly they don't.

    It doesn't matter how many times I've seen this movie doesn't matter how many times I've seen the movie, the scene where Simba finds Mufasa dead in the gorge always gets me in the heart. Especially the fact that Scar gaslights Simba into thinking it was his (Simba's) fault.
    Also, I am very glad they cast James Earl Jones as Mufasa. As much as I respect the actor, they almost cast Christopher Walken.

    its really refreshing to see someone take this movies themes and values on a naturalistic level, rather than getting all political and cynical with it. This is a film about balance, about stepping into the roles in our communities that only we can fill, about overcoming our past and meeting our destiny surrounded by our people. and how the world around us can thrive when we give it the respect it needs. this is in my humble opinion one of the finest traditionally animated films of all time and it always gives me the feels:)

    Yes, Shenzi the hyena is indeed voiced by Whoopi Goldberg! You are correct. Mufasa is voiced by James Earl Jones, you are correct that he is the king in Coming to America! He is also best known as the voice of Darth Vader in Star Wars. Young Simba is voiced by Jonathan Taylor Thomas, who played the young boy Randy (the son of Tim Allen's character) in the 90s TV show Home Improvement. You seem to be a millenial like me, so perhaps you remember that show. It was really popular in the 90s. And older Simba is voiced by Matthew Broderick best known from Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Godzilla 1998.

      You didn't mention the singing voice of young Simba (Jason Weaver)

    • @chrisofstars
      @chrisofstars 3 месяца назад

      @@zipporahlewis4908 I regret to say, I didn't mention him because Jason Weaver's voice is not a voice I know from anywhere else other than The Lion King. I was mentioning the actors' voices Devin recognized based only on sound because I noticed Devin has the same ability as me. I one day long ago became aware from watching anime and from playing Japanese video games, I could identify the same voice actors across different works based only on tone, pitch, and/or inflection, oftentimes even if they were altering their voice. I realized I could do this because I would watch different anime or play different video games in Japanese and noticed the language didn't matter. I could recognize and identify a voice from another work just from sound only without need for any visual or language hints. I remember many times in the past where I would ask my brother, or a friend, "Hey isn't that so and so's voice from so and so?" And they often would be like "Huh? No? I don't think so?" And I would be like "Yeah that definitely is." And we would look it up and I would be right. I would also get told, like his girl said to Devin, "You're good at that." I can do it with just about any person's voice as long as I have heard it before at least once. If I hear it extensively, I can remember it with "photographic" accuracy at any time in the future no matter separation by any length of time. My ears are very sensitive to intonation and my memory is very strong. Without even knowing the actor's names, I would Google to see who played each character to see if they matched and sure enough, it would be the same actor pretty much everytime I tested myself. Essentially, sounds for us are FUSED directly to a memory. When I walk outside, if I hear a bird chirping, as long as I have seen the kind of bird that makes the sound before one or two times, I can "see" the bird that makes it. I don't only hear it. I know what kind of bird it is, if I know what it's called, and know what it looks like. I can also mimick sounds with my own voice in any language whether I know the language or not, somewhat accurately, just from hearing it one time. I don't know a lot of other people who I've noticed can do the same in the way I do, but I noticed Devin has the same talent, we share an ability to identify sounds by linking them to an emotion or a memory. Hearing the same tone later triggers the memory instantly, even after a long time has passed. It's like smelling a familiar smell that makes you remember something from long ago, except we only have to do it once or twice to remember it with complete accuracy forever. I would bet money he is good at remembering music or has some sort of music related past or talents because I think that's where my ability comes from. I was involved in music making throughout most of my childhood which made my ability to recognize nuance in pitch and intonation very sharp and ingrain. And music and sound moves me emotionally, and emotions are something that form within us a strong memory. I'm betting Devin would describe his ability similarly if he were to be asked. Sorry this was so long but this was just to explain why I chose which actors I chose in my original comment to talk about. The commonality is they are all actors I know from other works that he also did. I should have mentioned that, apologies. Now, if I were to hear a young Jason Weaver's voice in another artwork even today, I'm sure I could link it to young singing Simba. I remember sounds forever. Hope that clears things up.

    Zazu's voice is done by Mr. Bean himself, Rowan Aktinson. When he recorded his lines, he had never been to Disneyland or Disney World, so the directors had to teach him how It's a Small World After All goes.

    This movie is a classic and it brings tears every time I watch it when Mufasah gets trampled. Scar is the king of gaslighting,he was jealous of simba because he would have been the next king if simba wasn't born.

    Scar may have been at least indirectly been responsible for the disappearance of the prey animals around Pride Rock, but I don't think you can blame him for the WEATHER...

    I think because Mufasa is his brother so scar is not nearly as scared no matter how big and scary his brother seem and because Mufasa is not the type to fight back and foth with his brother since he's supposed to be the peaceful ✌️🕊️🕊️

    33:17 It's funny, isn't it? When they were cubs, Nala would say he was so brave. But even though he's a grown and strong lion, he's just afraid.
