This has both made me appreciate the drill of the older dci shows and the props of modern ones. I find props to add a lot visually, but it feels like drill has gotten significantly less cool
Do you really wonder why? Come on, Dawg. I thought the artform requires evolution.. so yeah. Scores inevitably grow, as a result of the love and attention members, staff, and writers reach for. I, for one, do not appreciate your passive aggressive attitude. Encourage, esé.
Huge congrats on Blue Devils winning their #20 ring with Tempus Blue, and in doing so, joining this elite group of top 10. Well earned. Hands down our favorite show this season.
I'm confident that no show on this list would beat Frameworks (2002) in direct competition. The design alone would beat most, but the corps also executes at an extremely high level despite the high difficulty.
Frameworks isn't really that good. For the time, maybe, but drum corps is such an evolving sport. Even Metamorph would stomp it if they went head to head today.
@@Chomperz1230 84 BD...my only year in Jr corps....a hell of a way to rookout. in the source vid for La Fiesta, I'm the very top of the right hand devil horn. On the full show vid, I get a nice camera pass around the 50 second mark (soprano with full berd and glasses). Coming from band programs that were squads of 4, facing direction of march, music on lyres, etc...it was QUITE the steep learning curve!
Truly. I didn’t know that it placed second highest in the list, even though I’ve always loved the show. It has some insane formations, great music, and it feels so clean and classic.
That shit is just flawless. But, I could definitely find fault with how clinical it is, so clean that there isn’t that passion factor that influences how a show makes you feel. And it’s in my top 5
Uhhh...re Cadets 1995....1st?? Cavies won that year Plus the score is wrong for the 95 show and the show title was "An American Quintet" and took 2nd with a 97.20 HOWEVER....the score and placement matches the 1985 program...you have the wrong vid clip.
@@AnthonyNievesSingWithMeI don't have perfect pitch, and I'm not the best at being able to recreate pitches after hearing them, but was that a C7 at the end of the Babylon clip? And it was pitched down???
I was a band nerd at Clifton High School Clifton, Tx. We were just a 2A band but so large nobody believed us. Our school always has done well in state, my sister is 7 years older than me and we were top 5 then, as was with me, then both my daughters are 2007 and 2009. 2005 they got 7th place, so bummed they weren't in top 5. But hey they performed excellent, just had so many excellents. But always been proud of our school. My band director died of cancer tho my Jr year, Larry Snider at age 25. He was so amazing at his job, loved every minute of what he did. We learned so much from him. I played clarinet, bass clarinet, and flag squad my freshman year.
I notice one mistake. Somewhere around the 25 minute mark, when you doing the course that scored a 98.4. You put in the 1994 cadets. It should have been the 1985 cadets who did Jeremiah.
Looks like a mix-up. Right show, right score, wrong year. Cadet's Jeremiah show was 98.4 (1st) in *1985*, not *1995*. So, looks like wrong footage too. Oh well!
Madison Scouts should have been in there the judges don't appreciate that shows and the judged low most of the time yet they had one of the more exciting drum course and a long history of excitement I'm old school so I don't appreciate any of these chords any longer I don't believe football or baseball will be having ballerinas head bobbing pirouettes initials that would be considered poor taste just like the drum course Sorry for voice recognition
Hunter Withrow So what was the judges supposed to do...............look at previous scores from years past and say "We have to score it lower than it actually deserves??" Uh no. Scores are not comparable across years.
To be honest, I have "no skin" in this game, but the sound of the ensemble is quite admirable, at the very least. Sound does matter, yes??? And though I have not seen the entire performance - viewed in 20K resolution on a super computer with the best graphics card on the planet (and the sound reinforced through separately quad-amped surround sound reference system) -, I would say that you are most probably WRONG. Just sayin'. Chill, maybe?
Thank you so much for compiling this!! I marched Contra Bass Santa Clara Vanguard 1998. A wonderful trip down memory lane!
I was there for that Championship as a spectator. It was a great year in D1. The marched D2 the next two years.
You guys were badass
It’s amazing how groups can still get 97.5+ and still come in second! Really shows how incredible these groups are and how amazing DCI is as a whole!
This has both made me appreciate the drill of the older dci shows and the props of modern ones. I find props to add a lot visually, but it feels like drill has gotten significantly less cool
You might as well rename this video “Top 50 DCI shows by score as of 2020” 😞😪

2019 bluecoats was such an entertaining show but I am surprised it finished higher than spartacus
All Cadets and Blue Devils with honorable mentions by Phantom, SCV, Blue Coats, Cavaliers, and others.
It still blows my mind that we're not still in that 25 year period where you have an expectation that the Cadets are going to medal every year...
I marched Cadets 90-94. Cool to see 2 of my 5 yrs. up there. Thanks so much for this! #FHNSAB
This was an exeptional amount of work and greatly appreciated. This truly is a hidden talent for many.
It’s crazy to see Cadets on here so much given how last year was.

I feel confident that in today’s DCI, frameworks would struggle to break into the top 5
Very high execution scores, but wouldn't be remotely competitive in content. That and they would be pretty low in the brass caption.
I'm in a DCI Best Of video and I didn't even march. I was in the 15th row at 2007 Finals. :)
That Santa Clara Vanguard 2018 show Babylon was epic, pure insanity, the brass section was so powerful
So what's with all the 97.7 ones having to do with West Side Story
Top 50 based solely on score doesn't take in account that the judging system changed from tic to build-up. I'm not sure what year.
1984. Garfield staff was loving this.
