I can see why mushroom cave production was halved if it’s still worth more than fruit production. I always went fruit before 1.6, but that free early dehydrator is a nice perk. Thanks for the video!
I think you undersold the gifting value of the fruit bat cave a little as planted fruit trees take years to match the star quality potential of the bat cave. Oranges, peaches and pomegranates are loved gifts and all six are universal likes for everyone so you can get easy presents for anyone whose other preferences are too much effort.
I chose the mushroom cave. I definitely didn’t harvest every other day and didn’t make the best use of the dehydrator. While I don’t regret my choice, I definitely like the free dehydrator. I didn’t really have an issue befriending everyone. Granted, I didn’t focus much on that until the start of Year 2, so I had plenty of resources for gifts. I think the biggest factor in the choice is what kind of run you’re doing. Different challenge runs might benefit more from a specific cave.
With the mod "automate" you can lay down some paths between the boxes and a chest next to the dehydrated. The mushrooms will automatically be transferred to the chest and with the exception of the red and purple mushrooms they will automatically cycle thru the dehydrator
I think I once heard a streamer say that mushrooms were better (not sure now if they were joking) so I stuck with that for ages, but now I always go with bats for the cc.
Yay, congrats on 1k! I usually go fruit cave cause I like bats. But I did do the mushroom cave for wild seeds route on a buy no seeds playthrough, and it was great for that. That was pre-1. 6 though and the mushroom logs definitely make it less of an exciting option. Free dehydrator is nice though ...
I really like using common mushroom for energy and eventually using life elexir for health so I alays choose the mushroom cave. My first play on 1.6 though I chose the meadow farm and when I saw how far away the cave was I was like ok time to try the fruit bats! Turned out I didn't exactly lack mushrooms lol! I'm not sure what I will do going forward because of the mushroom logs to be honest.
Oh, good point. I haven't tried meadowlands yet, but I remember seeing that cave is in a kinda weird spot. And yeah, mushroom logs are almost too good :)
I am still of the mindset of Mushrooms are king. Bats are way to much RNG to be feasable. And the community center has enough other options to be finished year one no matter what. Since the only trees you MUST have are apples and pommegranates. And the PG you can buy with a little luck form the travelling cart. As for gifting.... Yeah no.... There are just way more easier available gifts around. Gems, animal produce or artisan good made from those. Or just foraged flowers. I do agree that the mushroomlogs will make the cave obsolete at the mid to late game but so is the bat cave since by then you have the green house and trees in there. As for regularly harvesting... Just make it part of your daily chores (tending animals watering/harvest etc...). Maybe put a fish pond next to it if you can to remind yourself. And if you are really lazy get the automate mod and just put some flooring between the boxes and a chest next to it. (sry for those who play on console, you'll have do the chores thing^^) But do you know why you never can bring a fungus onto an airplane? Because they just take up to mushroom!
Fruit bats every time. Easier bundle completion and gifts are the main thing for me. The money making aspect of either have never really factored for me

several of the other fruit forageables also make at least liked gifts for most of the villagers as well.

i like fruit cave, not tryna waste my time checking the cave every other day. bonus it helps with cc
My ADHD ass keeps forgetting to check the cave, so fruit bat is better for me
mushroom cave also helps with cc
@@asmrtpop2676 you can find mushrooms in mines or just make a couple mushroom logs. much easier and cheaper than planting fruit trees

I do the mushrooms because I like mushrooms. And the old fruit that was handled by bats sounds like a recipe for ebola.

Congratulations on the subs! Can't wait to see it roll over to 5,000!

In 1.5 I found the mushroom cave to be superior because of the tea tree option as a solid money maker. In 1.6 the fruit bats are better
bat cave if you are rushing cc or really struggle to get friendship. mushroom any other time, especially with the free dehydrator
