If you’re farming slime balls, the witch cursing your slime hutch won’t matter, but you can also kill the slimes inside for their drops, which are based on color! It sucks to have a hutch full of purple slimes stop giving you iridium when you thin the herd…
I love my slime hutch and slime pets. I always decorate the inside really nice. I have the slime charmer ring too. However, if you've received a frog trinket from 1.6, make sure you don't bring your frog in the hutch with you, or it will eat your slimes😄
Good to know on the frog trinket! I have not tested all the trinkets with slimes in the slime hutch. My magic quiver trinket doesn't hurt my slimes, but it's good to know to be cautious with other new trinkets!
The moment I realized the potential of Slime Hutches I've been building them on each and every farm - so I'm thrilled to know that now the building will twke less space on my farm 🤑
I already love farming slimes, so having hutches was already on the table; they're good for fueling a slime shed or outdoor pen, which doesn't have the 20-slime limit! The hutches are a good producer of eggs, which can start off a much bigger enlosure! Slimes also roll for color hue when they breed, making a rainbow pen/shed/greenhouse a fun choice if you don't mind having to kill them every so often! So glad the hutches are smaller in 1.6 though, absolute game-changer!
[1] if you want a safe place to farm "slime" material, farm slimes for combat exp/achievement/slime charmer ring, and a place to store tiger slime (farm them for $gold$). [2] you need material to get it started/recipes/slime press, a weapon to kill slimes, sprinkler to keep troughs watered without hassle, and space to place the structure down. (Wicken statue vs witch curse) [3] summary: what do you want? $$$ or aesthetics (achievement can be gotten passively or purposely in a controlled environment)
Great video! I'll probably be building a hutch on my farm now. I think it's worth mentioning that purple slimes drop iridium ore, so keeping them purple can be a big deal if you plan to kill them. Also, the slime charmer ring can be used to avoid slime damage and status effects! Potentially worth keeping it in a chest near your hutches, especially if you are going to be killing the slimes.
For my v1.5 Combat XP Only run a few months back, I built a lot of the old sized 1.5 hutches and found out how much fun they were. There were a few quirks back then like slime eggs exploding off the screen and being lost (I think your movement/momentum gets added on collection) but it was a solid passive income for that run's rules. I had enough that making 3 or 4 slime eggs a day was pretty easy) I also found out that if you stay inside the building, the slimes will reproduce more often, letting you fill it up to 20 much faster, but at the cost of doing other things. (They seem to check for a mate at 10 after every hour, keep them in a confined space and it will probably be more successful.) Slimes also grow up faster if you hang around.
Great video! Wholesome, fun and informative. I really like your presentation style :) Just subbed and all the best with your channel (I'm sure it will grow in leaps and bounds).
A very good mid game money maker once you have a slime hutch is reseting a slime ingested floor in the mines, with a burglars ring I have gotten 17 slime eggs from drops in one day with a very basic setup of galaxy sword, the aforementioned burglars ring, and some spicy eele and coffee. So all in all even with just green slimes it's very profitable because you make roughly 10k in a single day from green slimes, and if it's later level slimes like purple you can get over 100k gold easily with very little effort
Stone fences breaks down a bit too fast, I would suggest using iron fences who is a bit more sturdy instead. You still want to merge the slime hunter ring to one of the rings you wear anyways, while even Tiger slimes aren't the most dangerous monster, not taking damage from them helps a lot on any Skull cavern or Volcano run. It is not a cash cow building but since it generate money and require very little maintaining, having one in a corner somewhere and looting it once or twice every season is well worth it unless you are speedrunning. I don't think having more then 1 is worth it though since having many will take up valuable space you could put a large shed on, a barn with pigs or grow something.
honestly as far as money making this is just for fun, eggs are not effected by any perks as far as price goes but honestly if you farm them for the intresting drops only worth while ones would be purple and tiger, i can get like a whole stack of iridium on a good cavern day so i do tiger for that cool ass hat i usually wear the pan on my head for efficiency and not a single hat has made me consider to switch untill i learned of the tiger hat, so im going to grind the hell out of that.
I think it's worth it to build one so you have a chance to get slime egg dropped in combat, but it isn't worth it to actually raise them because the slime press rarely produces eggs that aren't green or blue.
Someone got into slime breeding and made slime hutches extremely profitable by having white slime offspring that have a high drop of diamonds when killed. Thats a lot of work... But the idea is good. So Imo, slime farm is most useful OUTSIDE the slime hutches, where you can earn exp and have more than 20 continually breed and can be regularly slain for drops.
For example , you can have a small coal farm by breeding black slimes. You can get iridium, iron, gold, copper , hardwood , coal, stone, refined quartz, wood, diamond, prismatic shards, slime eggs, and lots of minerals that sell well with gemologist profession.
I've kind of wanted to try that, but it seems like such an ambitious goal to go through all the breeding and sorting. Maybe someday I'll give it a shot! Thanks for watching!
I actually really wanted to try this, but after looking at the math and experimenting with a couple iterations of breeding outside a slime hutch, I knew I'd never make it. Kudos to anyone who takes it all the way though!
Yeah, as far as I know, they don't currently work for slime balls, but having auto grabbers in slime hutches would be very cool. Somebody call up ConcernedApe :)
Tbh I think the hutch looked better when it was larger. I wish we got a change to the breeding instead. Like theres slimes which drop stuff based on colour such as pure white slimes dropping diamonds, which is cool, but the breeding is so annoying that its not worth it

My Slime Hutch is my crafting HQ, and my favorite place to be in the game. It's my pride and joy. The Star of my farm!
The slime charmer ring works in the hutch as well, so you could make the slimes 100% safe if you are concerned.
Slime charmer ring is always a go-to (for me, at least.)

Best video I’ve watched on slime hutches! Very informative and simple, really helped! :)
Loving the 3 ponds and the slim hutch designs
I am thrilled the slime hutch size was reduced in 1.6 but I haven't built one on my 1.6 farm yet. I honestly usually forget about it.
Really solid guide videoes. Love your science team.
the eggs themselves that occassional drop are good chunks of change as well. while killing slimes while mining, is a nice boost

I use my slimehutch as a workshop/store room to remind myself to go in there more than once a season lol

I wish the farm computer would tell you how many slimes you have in your hutch!

It’s interesting- I might make a hutch to keep my crystallariums. But my day is already so sapped with random tasks I’m scared to add more 😂
❤️❤️❤️
I really never built it period. I rather have a farm full of fish ponds over a slime hutch. I have 15 ponds thinking of adding more.
One could also start breeding them and make them into white slime, that can drop diamonds, but that is high maintenance...
I actually really wanted to try this, but after looking at the math and experimenting with a couple iterations of breeding outside a slime hutch, I knew I'd never make it. Kudos to anyone who takes it all the way though!
Here we go again to the pure white slimes ranch for the 1.6 game.
it would be nice if ur make a video about the Fish Ponds and what Fishes are good for the Ponds :3
I really do think fish ponds look great on the farm and I always like to have some. I'll put it on my list :)
Unfortunately my slims disappeared After a few days, i dont know why
I want to try this, but I wonder if an auto grabber would grab the slime balls. I suspect not, which is kinda disappointing.
Yeah, as far as I know, they don't currently work for slime balls, but having auto grabbers in slime hutches would be very cool. Somebody call up ConcernedApe :)
but the fun part is running around popping the slime balls
🎉
I like how low maintenance it is, but that’s all it has to offer.
I just refuse to make them because I find them ugly, but with every new video I find it more and more interesting... I might give it a go...

it's not just asthetic... black slimes drop coal.
need lots of slime to make a bunch of oil machines!!!
Please don’t ever call my little Krobus shadow daddy ever again /hj
As a money maker, it's meh, but it's certainly interesting.
I’m not a fan of the slime hutch. Mostly because of their overt desire to kill you every time you walk in. Major downer. Good video though!
aint no way she called krobus shadow daddy when he's so clearly twink coded
