The leaves of my Cattleya Orchid were dehydrated, due to root rot, so I tried to rehydrate by soaking the leaves in water... it worked! I also wanted to show off some of my current blooms.

So I heard that the bottom of the leaves is how they breath. Wouldn't that drown them?

Both the leaves AND roots breathe... and some orchids like this Catyleya, have both aerial and regular roots, and they absorb moisture whether they are misted or placed directly into water. A few days of soaking is good enough to rehydrate them. I think it's best to monitor daily and see how the plant is doing.
